Stopped by for an iced coffee in the afternoon. Coffee is strong and very good. They have a lot of breads and pastries. I ordered a slice of beehive cake to bring home because it reminds me of the German Bienenstich, bee sting cake. It was pretty good but was too much cream and not enough cake. Can't say much about the coffee here (except my buddy said his iced latte was fine) but the mango frappe with oat milk was awesome. The problem is the straws they provide is too tiny! So it gets crushed by the opening in the lid and you basically spend your time sucking and sucking lol! So the solution is to remove the lid and stick the straw straight into the cup without the lid and then it's fine. Also the lemon bar was nice but the morning bun and Raisin Bran muffin were both on the dry side. Location is very nice -- you can sit outside across from the Sonoma Square park. read more

This place has been run aground since change in ownership years back. As a chef, I can no longer use their products since they lack consistency and quality control. As a local, the cafe lacks any kind of passion in their craft and only caters to tourists that see it as the only place on the square for a pastry and cafe. Wake up Basque, Monday bakery just opened last fall right around the corner on Napa st. and produces far superior pastries and coffees. For the time being, I will have to search for another bakery to meet my business needs and when my five year old requests a delicious pastry, I will be looking elsewhere. read more

Oh boy lady's and gents get ready for this one cause it was all bad. When we first walk in we could feel the tension in the room like something felt off. This gentleman asked what he could get for us. We first asked for a Carmel frappe. He said we can't do those right now......(it was 30 min till closing) so I got a Carmel late instead. Then we asked for an iced tea. As we are sitting there we see the guy who took our order start yelling at his coworker who was helping another customer. He then went over and took over for her and told her to go away. He made our drinks. The tea tasted like garbage water. And the late tasted like bitter and burnt water no flavor at all. Now this sweat old lady is trying to ask for cream because they are all out. He told her to look on the counter. Ewwwwwwwww like come on man don't be rude. Anyone buying a sandwich should open it up and inspect it before you leave the counter. I ordered the Tri tip au ju sandwich, took one bite out of one half and tasted little/no meat. I uncovered the second half and found the same, basically a very thin slice of meat, certainly not what you would expect for $13. The owner/manager argued with me in front of an entire line of customers waiting to order, inferring that I ate the supposed 3oz of weighed meat for the sandwich. Instead of just saying I'm sorry, I'll get you a new sandwich or refund your money, she made a scene defending what was in front of her and again inferring that I at the meat. Worst bakery I've been to. I suspected it when I walked in because everything looked pretty terrible. I still have it a try and orders a croissant. I would expect better from a gas station station. We stopped here on a Thursday morning for a little pastry & drink. We came a little later in the morning but I was surprised to see their selection of pastries was very limited. We ordered a bread pudding & lemon tart. The bread pudding was warmed upon serving it was very tasty & not sweet, which I prefer. The lemon tart was lacking the tartness that I love in a lemon tart, it was good but I would have preferred more lemon flavor. To drink we ordered a mimosa & a white mocha. My mimosa was delicious it had the perfect amount of OJ & Bubbles. My mom's mocha was very good, next time she'll order it extra hot since it came out warm. If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. My friends and I were hyped to get cheese sticks from Basque, and as we were walking up to the door, one of the workers inside practically *rushed* over. We thought she was being nice, maybe opening the door for us--nope. Instead, she aggressively yanked the door right out of my friend's hand, flipped the 'open' sign to 'closed' like it was some power move, then slammed the door in our faces and just walked away like it was no big deal. Meanwhile, there were plenty of people still eating inside and outside! Even if the place was closing, there's ZERO excuse for treating customers like that. A simple "Sorry, we're closed" would've been miles better. Other customers saw it too and called out how rude and disrespectful she was. This was downright unacceptable. The place is worse and we got a lot of attituded service. The order was taken by the store manager women who refused to tell her name, why is you hiding your name for? She even not provide the receipt until I asked for it. They auto charged 4% tips from $21 worth of order ? The food we ordered do taste below average compare to the France store name they have. The tomato soup is salty, the Turkey Panini sandwich tasted bad and the Coke soft drink was watery. This is a bad store to come for your meals. Sure it was within one hour of closing when I popped into the bakery. The good thing about coming in that late on a Saturday was that they were giving away free loaves of bread. I got a loaf of sliced sourdough rye bread. A $5.95 value. But I also ordered a tuna sandwich. Come on, I got a tomato and lettuce sandwich with a thin pitiful spread of tuna. If they didn't have enough tuna for a full sandwich serving, just tell me. But since it was my first time here, possibly that is the serving size. Disappointing either way. Plus the tuna lacked zing. Tasted like mayonnaise and tuna and not much of anything else. The almond bear claw was good. Nice flavor of almond paste inside. It was topped with a layer of slivered almonds. This is a great pastry spot for the mornings. If you're looking into eating pastries or buying breads, this is the spot. I recommend trying their cheese danish and a cortado to go along with it. They have plenty of seating and a friendly staff! It was my first time going there. Coming from San Francisco. There were 2-3 note saying that the prices have changed and for some items inside the menu, the prices have increased from 50 cents to 1.5 dollar which is not written in the menu, but when you want to pay, you will see it. I ordered a chicken sandwich, which was 10$ and when it wanted paid, it was $11 but when I got my print was $ 12.5. When I looked at the bill, 44 cents was calculated for payment by card . And they charged me extra without telling me beforehand. This is unethical. I ordered a $ 10 sandwich but paid almost 13$. My frustration is on them cheating for an extra amount of charging me without telling me. I got my sandwich and it was really really small . You can see it in the picture compared to my hand .
