We paired it with the 2021 Domaine Henri & Gilles Buisson Saint-Romain "Sous Roche," a Burgundy priced under $100 on the restaurant list, and the combination was exceptional. One of our dishes was completely forgotten, and had to be followed up on. Surrounding tables had similar issues. Eggs benedict with smoked salmon was a hit The starter salads / french onion soup and desserts were tasty, with the banana / blueberry bread pudding and tres leches cake being the stars. Avoid this after-thought of a brunch if you can, stick to their dinner menu and enjoy the incredible ambiance that is Saddle Peak Lodge. What a disaster though! For $800, Fogo de Chao, Maestros, Flemmings, even a drive to Alexanders in Pasadena would of been memorable. Shoot, should of just gone to Lure for the 10,000th time, at least it would of offered the same boring consistency. Super disappointed in Saddle Peak Lodge, as my family and I come here 1-2 times a year for dinner. It had been a while since I had been here and they have added to their menu. I love the bowls and that you can make your own by picking the base (noodles - rice or vermicelli, rice -- jasmine or brown), choose a sauce (garlic lime, peanut or sweet chili), adding a protein (tofu and mushroom, chicken, pork, beef or shrimp) and finally you can add a topping (crispy onions, yams, leek crisps or pesto) -- those are $.75 extra. My bowl was so delicious -- I had the Tofu and Shitake mushroom bowl and it was so delicious and fresh I wanted to lick the plate. I also decided to try a black sesame latte -- it was ok, not as good as I wanted it to be. There is also a little kitchen for a quick take away meal if you don't have time -- if you never went to the bathroom you might not know it existed because you have to walk through the restaurant (from the patio) to see the take away section. The service is sometimes great and sometimes spotty depending on how busy they are.

The ambiance was fine--nothing particularly good or bad. It took about 20 minutes just to get our drinks and over an hour for our food to arrive. While the staff was not rude, they were not particularly friendly or attentive either, and it felt like no one was checking on our table. The biggest issue, however, was food safety. We ordered the whole grilled chicken, and after eating about half of it, I cut into the center and found it was raw and undercooked. That is not just disappointing--it could have made me seriously sick. We immediately informed the staff and sent it back. What was most frustrating was the lack of concern. No manager came over to apologize, check on us, or acknowledge the seriousness of serving undercooked chicken. Everyone makes mistakes, but how a restaurant responds says a lot. Between the extremely slow service, lack of attentiveness, and the way the undercooked chicken was handled, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had. Based on this visit, I cannot recommend dining here.
