I visited the inaugural pop-up event at Seoul Sausage in Downtown LA which was recommended to me by my cousin in PDX. You'll choose from a short menu of appetizers to main dishes such as the pernil asado (slow roasted pork) and the arroz con gandules (yellow rice with pigeon peas) to dessert. There is only one Puerto Rican restaurant in LA and a take out operation all in the San Fernando Valley. As expected, they were very friendly and they take their craft seriously. I usually get brisket when I get Texas style barbecue, but wanted to try some other other stuff this time. I got the Serrano jack sausage and a half pound of chicharron. Both were very tasty and the textures were perfect. the chicharron was super crispy and was so good with the acidity from the lime and pickles. The sausage had a nice bite to it. The texture quality of sausages are underrated. I recently had another sausage from another barbecue place that was good, but the consistency was like meatloaf. It makes a huge difference. Always a good time in your in for a treat if you could find their pop-ups. They usually pop up at breweries. More so in the South Bay. It seems now. Follow their Instagram to figure out when.

I'll start off with the parking. There's plenty of parking in the shopping center if you get there early enough. The decor was on par with the theme. Some were reserved already so we waited a little while. Paola hooked us up with a table about 10 minutes later. We ordered our food and some drinks and within 10 minutes we were eating. We ordered some wings a burger and Cajun fries. Everything was delicious and although the drinks are kind of pricey they were delicious. Paola kept checking in on us and once we were ready to close the tab, she got us a high top table by the area where people were dancing. She still would check in on us from time to time and even brought us some water. So shout out to her! The dj played good music and the whole place was vibing. Everyone was having a good time. They played music that made me reminisce of my high school days as well as current music. The only thing I was not to fond of was the bathroom. Only two stalls for the women's restroom and a bathroom for either gender. At times the line would be long. Everything was done online so it definitely made one less thing stressful about wedding planning. He had a cool ice cream cart that he was able to take into the venue with ease. Guests were able to enjoy 4 unique flavors of ice cream. Our guests keep raving about the ice cream till this day. We chose Mint to Be, Sweet Dreams, Hazed & Confused and a special Calamansi flavor. There is no printed menu, so you'll just have to ask what it is that you're eating and why the main course -steak- was served first. We were asked to keep the utensils through out the course as they do not change your silverware for every course. Cringe. I had such a high expectation with the food prior to dinner. It felt flat - Everything. The only thing that we like was the corn bread. The steak was tough - some us got super rare and some got overly done tough. Some flavor combination just didn't pair well. Something with a fish dish but sour like hell. Another dish was blue and it just did not look a dish coming out of a fine dining restaurant. Funny the people that were there was talking about Somni, Providence, Melisse.... It just did not even come close. It's like going to a friend's house who's practicing to be a fine dining chef. The Asian assitant cook brought them over and said it's Mandarin ice. So we asked, can you give us a little bit more description... his response was so rude that he said "it's ice with mandarin orange flavor". Oh ok - now you say mandarin oranges. But his condescending attitude is not appreciated. The night is ending and the Chef has not once come to the table to say Hi or introduced himself. People started to leave and he decided to speak to some remaining guests. Then he gets stuck with that particular guest for a long time until everyone is leaving. We probably just had like a Hi and Hello thank you for the food. He seems nice though. Then we all left. We clearly didn't even care anymore at that point. Bad food and bad experience. No parking. Good luck finding a parking on the streets on fountain and Vermont with all the homeless around. It's a hype. It's mysterious because it's really not listed as a restaurant. Not for everyone.
