Chef Peter is the real deal. I contacted him to cater our firm's holiday party this year. From first contact to the two months leading up to the event, he was responsive and kind. He worked with me on a menu and he delivered my vision. Even with extreme circumstances (another vendor broke our garage door 24 hours before the event) Chef Peter and his crew took it in stride. They were on time and hauled their heavy equipment in and got straight to work. He was basically cooking/grilling on one side of our building (back patio), having to run back forth to the interior kitchen and sink. He and his crew worked SO hard that night. They are very professional. Every plate was perfect, they cleared the tables and made sure everything was spotless when they left. I also hired Jacob the Bartender (he works with Chef Peter) and WOW! Crafted cocktails and excellent service. Every person who was late to my party was sat and had a drink in their hand in less than a few minutes. Jacob was a pleasure to work with. Great bartender. The best!!!! I did a lot of research on private chefs in the area and spoke with a lot of them too. Nobody was as straight forward, reliable, and as highly recommended as Chef Peter. First off, he was able to give me a quote during our first 2 minute phone conversation while everyone else I called said they would get back to me with a menu. Some never did. After two phone calls and a couple simple emails back and forth, Chef Peter arrived right on time, with everything he needed, prepped, and cooked a meal we will never forget. I am in awe that all of this was done in the same kitchen I make mac n cheese in The lamb was everyone's favorite. He also added a saffron risotto to the second course when I suggested more middle eastern flavors. He even added pistachio to the lamb crust which was just glorious. He surpassed all of my expectations and then some. I heard from other reviews he leaves the kitchen spotless but I was still surprised at how he left my stove cleaner than when he found it! Based on the Yelp reviews and Chef Peter's website, I took a chance and reached out to Chef Peter to assist with a family party. We communicated mainly via email. I laid out the vision of the gathering and Chef Peter offered great food choices. A couple of weeks prior to the event, Chef Peter came to the house to review the kitchen, general lay out, his needs, and flow of the area. We also discussed presentation area and need for supplies such as plates, glasses, flatware, etc. Chef Peter is personable, attentive, and easy to get along with. I appreciated that he followed through on requests/ questions and was flexible. We built a menu for 20 people utilizing premium cuts of meat. We ended on seared ahi, wagyu hangar, a tomahawk steak, lamb lollipops, and BBQ pork ribs. Sides included rosemary potatoes, broccoli couscous, Cuban coleslaw, and garlic bread. He also prepared an apricot juice and mint lemonade. The food was excellent. The Cuban coleslaw had some sourness balanced with some heat. The meats were seasoned and cooked well. The only miss was the BBQ ribs. They were a little over salted, IMO. The broccoli was the right amount of doneness with the right amount of snap, not mushy or too raw. Pricing was in line with other chefs I reached out to for this event. For this event, pricing was $75 per person plus groceries. This met my budget for this event. Opportunities for Chef Peter include 1. Identify best communicate methods with the clients (e.g., text, email, phone, etc) 2. Written estimate for services and written bill/ receipt at the end. (I am informal so maybe that's on me) 3. Written layout of the Chef's day including arrival, service time, and departure time so client aware and prepared. None of these are deal breakers from me but would improve business practices and make the engagement more transparent for everyone involved. Overall, my guests were impressed with Chef Peter's skills and the dishes prepared. He elevated our event. I am definitely considering having Chef Peter assist with other events. He gives you a sample menu of his most popular dishes but can make adjustments or new dishes based on what you like. We wanted an entree with Asian flavors which wasn't on his menu but he suggested a short rib dish that was so amazing. I had some special requests as one of my guests only eats fish and he was able to make the same short rib dish that we were all having but with fish for that one guest. My first encounter with Chef Petr's masterful cooking was simply extraordinary! A restaurant Chef by training, he now does personal chef work around SoCal. Last night he cooked the most amazing 5 course meal for my bestie's family -- all in the comfort of their home. He arrived by 2:30 to start prepping for a 6:30-7pm dinner. The man was a professional who operated with swift precision. Chef Peter proceeded to create a beautiful farm-to-table menu. Organic, healthy, and delicious. I am vegetarian--- my friends are not, however there were lots of options for everyone! He started with a gorgeously sculpted charcuterie and cheese board. Then moved on to a stacked Caprese salad that was almost too pretty to eat. At one point, Chef Peter went to the garden, lit only by a shaky iPhone flashlight, to pick fresh vegetables and herbs to use in his creations. LITERALLY farm to table! He was a lovely person and an excellent conversationalist. All the guests enjoyed chatting him up while he was prepping the meal. It was like we had an additional friend we've known forever just hanging out with us. Chef timed each course perfectly and at the end brought out a cake and participated in a champagne toast with us.
