Michael, the onsite manager, is super easy to work with, communicates very well, and watches over the property like a hawk. I feel comfortable knowing my items are taken care of and the price is very affordable compared to others in the area. I previously had a storage unit with another company in Austin where someone tried breaking into the unit by driving through the wall resulting in damage to my stored property. The management knew it had occurred, but never contacted me about it and let me discover it on my own. I am glad I moved my stored items to Bastrop Guardian. As long as Michael is caring for the property I expect to use their service for a long time. My advice to new renters...take the time to read all of the information Michael gives you. I loved this storage units. Michael who manages the place, can seem like over the top with his rules, like driving very slow when you enter the facility, moving in and out of the units rules, etc. but after staying there for 3 years its what made this place awesome. You're stuff is in good hands while Michael is looking over your items. Greatly appreciate my interactions with him and the units were very clean and upkept. I highly recommend the indoor units because the temperature was always perfect! And the air conditioning when I moved out helped tremendously with this current heat. It also saved my stuff through the freeze two years ago and these crazy hot summers. It helped keep my stuff completely safe and guarded even from the weather. Bastrop Guardian is a great name for this storage facility, as it is the best cared for and surveillance savvy business we have encountered over MANY years of moving about. Mike is friendly and thoroughly explains all the high points of the contract expectations upon signing up, and as an adult, i feel the responsibility falls on me to review and understand before agreeing to any and all requirements for storing my belongings on his property. Owner/manager is a liar and a thief. He accepted payment for every month we were there. He decided to terminate our lease and sell all of our stuff before the end of the month. He expects everyone to drive at or under 5 mph. He enforces this by his sight. Even though your speedometer says 5 if he thinks you are going faster he yells at you to slow down. He constantly "visits" with you when you are putting something in or out in order to snoop at what you have. He CLAIMS he sent an email notifing us of the termination but he only sent it today. Recommend NEVER rent from here. read more

I did some research of the Bastrop area before we moved our belongings here. Michael at Guardian helped us out with a unit to store our first load from Maine. Later we held an onside unit to move the new stuff from another state and combine everything in one space. Spaces were secure and reasonable. Michael is kind and funny but we love the dogs the most. I have used other storage facilities throughout the years. I have found Bastrop Guardian to be one of the best I have ever used. Michael is always on site, friendly, concerned and helpful. When I first went to lease a space he took the time to explain my options, showed me the space and get me all set up. When I would drop by to either get more stuff out or add stuff tot he unit and happened to see him, he was always friendly. I mentioned to him I was getting ready to vacate, and he sent me all the information I would need and even offered to sweep the unit out for me. I would not recommend this storage facility. I was harassed every time I entered the facility. First of all let me say that I understand the need to drive slow through a storage facility as people and dogs may be walking out of and between the buildings. The speed limit is 5 MPH. I would drive in, keeping my speedometer at 5 or below, and would get Michael on a blow horn telling me to slow down before I even got up the hill into the storage facility. I would finish my business in my unit and proceed to leave. He would be standing in the road so he could tell me again to slow down and I would tell him that I was driving 5 or below. One time after he told me that I was going too fast my wife, who was with me, asked him how fast his radar detector showed me going. He said he didn't have one he could just tell how fast I was going. Another time he told me that the big tires on my truck would mess up the speedometer and that I was going faster than it said. I told him that couldn't be true because I have factory sized tires on my truck. The last straw was last week when he stopped me again on the way out and I told him that I was staying under 5 MPH, he then told me that the speedometers really don't work well under 10 MPH. I drove slow every time I went in and I had several people ride in with me watching the speedometer the entire time just to verify. Each time he would be on the blow horn telling me to slow down. I was just tired of being harassed as I was driving in and driving out and with all of the other storage facilities in Bastrop it is worth a little more a month not to be harassed. read more

Great location, great service! I only ever had to call once, and my question was immediately answered. I actually received a call just to let me know what was going on - completely unexpected and a welcome surprise. Even with the great flood of 2016, my unit was dry. This is the cleanest, most secure storage unit I have ever utilized. The owner literally does live onsite. His name is Mike and he (and his canines) provide as secure a facility as can be imagined. The prices are excellent. The rules are clear cut and Mike is a total pro. We used one of the climate controlled units for a slow roll move from Florida to Austin and all our gear including bedding and expensive guitars came out as good as the day we stored them nine months before. read more

Wouldn't send my worst enemy to this place of "business." We went in on a Saturday, paid for the first month's rent on a storage unit and informed them we would need to get in later in the day, as we were having help getting a 17' truck loaded up, and only had help to unload it that day. They assured us it would be no problem. It was. You guessed it. We were stuck with the truck loaded up, and our code wouldn't work. But this place had screw up on top of screw up. I called a couple of days later to talk to the manager "Ray." He nicely apologized and said the system had been down. OK. Mistakes happen. I accepted the apology. But then he said he would take care of crediting our credit card for the amount we paid for the first month's rent and deposit, and would call me back in a day or two to inform me that he did it. Nothing. But it goes on. He wanted the credit card # and info again, which I gave him. I asked, "Don't you have this in your records?" He replied "Oh we don't keep those sorts of records." What?!!!? I can't imagine how this place even stays in business. Anybody out there with the IRS or the Better Business Bureau? I haven't yet got my money back, but I"ll keep on working on it until I do. This is definitely one of those places where their ability to even be in business amazes me. They are completely unprofessional and disorganized. They don't even post or announce their hours of business or have an emergency number like many other places like this do. And they say that the attached Uhaul is a separate business, but it's very confusing, as the same employee will take care of both, but then conveniently not know about "that side of the business" when the time is right. Geesh! This one gets my vote for worst business I've come across in quite some years. Now I'm off to give a positive review for Sierra Storage further on 71 towards Smithville, because they were wonderful, organized, and professional, with much better facilities. read more

the staff is very friendly and always welcoming, i showed up a little after hours to rent and the lady re-opened the office to accept my business, i felt very welcome and like i wasn't a bother at all. i like that, it is hard to find that kids of service, most people treat you like your a bother to them even during regular business hours. the place is a little dark and there is no fence along the back side so it looks creepy. my only downside. read more
