$17k for a leaky shower that has mold or mildew growing from their special mold and mildew resistant sealant. Had a leak ever since the install. Two of their techs couldn't figure it out. I pointed out the screws sticking 1/4 of the way out of the wall but they assured me "there's no room for moisture to get in". Had to hire a professional to come out and tell me where the leak was and surprise! It was coming through the poorly screwed in shower shelves. Guess they forgot the magic force field screws along with their magic mold and mildew resistant silicone. The cap to the shower exhaust pops off and they tell me that's a maintenance feature. Meanwhile steam just settles in the wall. There's a gap in the mixer plate as well. There's so much moisture in our walls, it ruined the house. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So I give them the inspectors report on all the issues and they won't address any of it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They can't fathom how moisture gets in all their gaps and creates puddles in the floor below. Multiple red flags throughout our entire experience, but in a nutshell: One glance at our small standup shower and the sales rep immediately declared "no way can this be done for less than $24K." For an acrylic marble pattern, he offered $20K if we signed and made deposit right then and there, wouldn't take no for an answer, left our home after 3 and half hours, then called the next day to say they could do it for $11K with a plain white acrylic - and no glass door - that had miraculously been left over from an apartment building job they did. I've never experienced such high pressure, bs sales tactics in my life - not even at a car dealership. We hired a highly rated handyman our neighbors recommended, and now we're getting the tile shower with glass door we originally wanted for nearly half the price. Would not recommend this company. Fast talking salesman started the price high, but then, when he saw us lose interest, he found all these discounts that lowered the price. Very slick salesman who just plain lied. I asked if their installers were certified plumbers. He said yes they were, but no, they were not. Explained our concerns about keeping the house clean. The salesman said not to worry, that they will cover things and there will be no mess. They did put some tarps on the area they walked on, but that was all. Then walked all over the carpet with out their shoe covers after they picked the tarps up. There is heavy construction dust everywhere. If they knew this would happen, why didn't they put sheets of plastic over the open doorways. My wife and I have many medical and physical problems that make cleaning, dusting, and vacuuming every square inch of the house extremely difficult. My experience with Bath Planet deserves less than one star. -- Here is the sales tactic Bath Planet and their parent company Leaf Home uses when you request a free in-home estimate. You will be shown a very nice slideshow presentation about all their proprietary technologies and BBB / Good Housekeeping ratings and guarantees. They will do some measurements, have you pick out materials and patterns, and show you an astronomically high number for what your renovation will cost. This number will be "no one in their right mind would pay this" high. Once you say "no" to that number, they start coming down. Promise to write an accurate review? 5% off. Sign on the dotted line today? 30% off. Let them put a sign in the yard? Another 5%. Once you have done all that, you agree to pay what will be considered a great price compared to the insane price they gave initially. -- After I signed on the dotted line, our estimator took more measurements. I observed her measurements, and politely informed her that the way she was measuring would undoubtably result in inaccurate measurements. This isn't the opinion of an uninformed homeowner; this was the opinion of a person whose job is to design and validate measurement systems. She said that her design engineers would look at the measurements and pictures and decide for themselves if different measurements were needed. When she showed me her final measurements, I noticed one of the dimensions was impossible and pointed it out to her. She maintained that her documented measurement was accurate. I should have killed the deal here. Once all this was done, I was told "Oh, yeah. By the way you will need to replace the window before our installers show up." I ordered a window through Menards and had a handyman install it. This took a while. A bit later, someone from Bath Planet called and informed me that what we had agreed to purchase would not fit based on the measurements, and that they would need to go with a slightly smaller design. This reduced size would not result in savings though, because it was now a custom job (which I had been told all jobs were, by the estimator). I asked if someone was going to come out and remeasure, which I was told would not be necessary. This is the second point I wish I would have killed the deal. Since our window was not going to be ready the day we had scheduled for installation, we had to postpone. We called over a week in advance. The representative from Bath Planet told us that they would have to charge us a warehouse fee for having to reschedule. I informed them that I would never pay a warehouse fee. They never brought it up again. With the window installed, we were put back on the schedule. The day of the install arrives. After a few hours of work, one of the installers informs me that they screwed up, because the measurements were wrong. ** I'm shocked** They then said that the pattern we ordered was not a stock pattern, and they would need to order more, or we could use a similar stock pattern and have the install finished that day. Rather than going days or weeks without a shower, we acquiesced, and they agreed to refund us 2.5%. When the job was done, the installers did not clean up after themselves and left debris in our yard. When a few weeks had passed and the 2.5% refund still hadn't shown up, I was given "it must have been lost in the mail." A possibility, I know, but based on everything else I know about Bath Planet, I'm sure was a crock. I implore you, dear reader, do not invite Bath Planet (or any Leaf Home subsidiary) into your home. He continued with his sales pitch Each time I'd ask about the quote, his comment was that he could not give a quote, that wasn't his job. I asked him to leave and he just continued to yak! We had Bath Planet of Chicago remove the existing shower enclosure in our master bathroom and install a new one. The shower enclosure installation failed Village of Carpentersville post installation inspection. I called and had an appointment scheduled for January 3rd to correct this inspection issue and a few other things we found. We had to cancel the Jan 3rd appointment because I got Covid. When I called to cancel I was told that someone would call to reschedule. The appointment was not cancelled because the repair person showed up on the 3rd and had to ask him to leave because I was sick. I've called multiple times, but NO one has called me back. I am writing specifically about the sales process. I am practically ready to get a restraining order on this company it's so obnoxious and aggressive, despite me telling them I'm not interested. I actually thought their sms messages were coming from a bot because they were so long, full of marketing speak, and most importantly ignored data I put into their form when requesting a quote ("do you want a shower or a tub?" is a question I answered in the form, they asked me over text anyway.) Even after saying I was no longer interested, bath planet kept texting me. They have also called me 24 times in less than 5 days. Don't belive me? I'll be attaching the receipts for both the calls and the sms! I blocked their number on day 2 of this ordeal and they proceeded to call a total of 8 times in that single day! Y'all ever heard of "no" and/or voicemail? This is seriously aggressive, annoying and absurd. Especially to continue to call and text me after I said I'm not interested. We've all made some questionable life choices but even my worst date never ended with this sort of pursuit. Yes, a bit of this post is funny. But also I'd feel seriously unsafe if any sales person I met was this persistent even after I'd said no. We had used another company for the master bath and they took weeks! but Bath Planet did the entire job in just 1 day as promised and it looks and works great! Their cost was also very competitive. Was sold a project that apparently didn't exist, when installers arrived tore out the shower, adjusted the plumbing, walls had to built to shorten the length of the shower due to it's length of 79 inches down to:72 inches as a larger shower pan not possible. Installers arrive and said job could not be done with product brought with them the previous day. Was told a temporary install of a product called "groutless tile" had to be installed until a solution could be developed for the project. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I told the installer "I did not like the product at all, was told that was the only option.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After the installation was complete, the new walls that had been built were crooked, warped 2 by 4's had been used. The manager of the Farmington, Mi office and my son both observed the crooked walls. Was told this installation was necessary to enable use of the shower until a product could be developed for my shower . The job began on Jan. 8th, 2025 and was what was deemed completed on Feb. 7th, 2025. The so called final installation was sloppy and unprofessional, due to;excessive sealant and grout, along with one of the panels on the new wall being cut incorrectly, gap between wall and floor filled with grout. After the installation was completed, a "fixer" was sent to my home to try/to correct some of the issues. deception and unprofessional is how I view this company. I asked a discount on the price of the job, was finally granted a discount which I view as insufficient. read more

I made an appointment with BP to have a representative come to my house to give me an estimate on having two shower stalls replaced. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The 'design consultant' (Steve) arrived at my home on time and gave a presentation, discussed options, and what would work best for me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While we were looking at the shower stalls, I asked Steve if the limited lifetime warranty covers all labor costs in addition to material costs. He assured several times that the warranty covers labor and materials. I asked him if BP repairs any damage they may do to the ceiling, walls, floor, towel bars or dry wall due to demolition and installation, and again he assured me that they would repair any damage that was done doing the demolition and installation. We then discussed price, and the proposals were not only astronomical but all over the map, and the hard sell made me a bit uncomfortable. I advised him that I probably should think it over and do some more research. He told me that he can only make a proposal while he was at my home, and once he left the offer was off the table. We discussed it further, and miraculously we arrived at a figure I could actually stomach, as long as the warranty covered labor expenses as well as materials, and that BP would repair any damage done during the demolition and installation. He then discussed payment options including financing, which he pushed hard, paying the full amount up front in cash (yes, you have the option of paying the full amount in cash), credit card or check, or make a down payment. I obviously opted to make a down payment using my credit card, and he sent me an email with a copy of the contract. I was already aware that I had 3 business days after the day of the transaction to cancel the contract, and I could always dispute the credit card payment if there were any issues. Upon reading through the contract later that night, on page 7 of the contract, ii states in BOLD letters that the warranty excludes any warranty for claims relating to installation, and is for product defects only. On page 6 there is a disclaimer that BP does NOT fix drywall or flooring, and if there is a gap between the existing flooring and the new shower base ( do to incorrect, sloppy measurements), BP is not responsible. If you have laminate flooring, that gap will allow the planks to shift and become unstable. But BP relieves themselves of the responsibility to make accurate measurements. BP knows that most people can't read the entire contract of 24 pages before you sign, as it is emailed to you. Misrepresentations, deceit, and a hard sell are part of the sales pitch. I then called the BP office in Lombard to cancel the contract on Wednesday morning well within the cancellation window and was given the runaround- the sales manager was supposed to call me and of course, he never did. I also called the salesman, Steve, and he advised me that he never had actually read the standard contract that he gives customers or the warranty for that matter. He continued to insist they cover labor costs. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I then sent a certified letter to BP in Lombard with a signed copy of a cancellation notice. Was looking to get bathtubs replaced with showers, and the work was done quickly and efficiently. It took a day for them to complete 2 bathroom showers. The design options we were able to select were modern and simple, complimenting the rest of the existing bathroom decor well. The previous owner of our home had installed a small whirlpool tub in our master bathroom. In the past 8 years since we moved in, we've only used it once. But we had to clean it almost monthly. BathPlanet came and offered to remove the tub, convert into shower, and never have to worry about mold again! Yusuf did a great job explaining different products and designs, as well as giving us ideas and recommendations. It was a very relaxed sales atmosphere, no pressure at all. Sales process: * Price of project fluctuated rapidly as salesman better understood our budget. Started with a 30K+ quote and "he was able to find discounts" to lower cost down to 13K for us. Later was unable to itemize cost of individual items and work. * Lied to use about financing options. Verbally asked if they financing was at 0% for 5 years as he stated, later come to find out that the 0% is only good for 2 years from the date you open the account, balloons to high interest after 24 months. * Sold custom glass solution to meet our needs, later to find out "custom glass" is anything not warehoused by BP. Product given was a $500 Lowe's door but added 14K+ do our original quote. Installation Process: (some across multiple days where we had to take off work) * Install 1 - Driver left installer at our home until 1230am, installer did not speak english and unable to communicate with him. Power tools were being used in our driveway up until 11pm to cut walls and piping. Did not install correct unit. * Install 2/Fix - Replaced walls correctly but shower head not secured to wall. * Install 3 - Replace wall, shower head still not secured to wall and now wall is curved. Glass door does not reach wall and water leaks onto floor. I reached out to advise we do not want any more of their contractors to work be in our home and BP offered us a measly $500 and then followed up with a $1200 credit (About 10% of project) At this point we will be paying BP over 11K$ for essentially a removal of our bath tub as the shower itself needs to be redone. If we don't repay by July of next year that cost will jump to over 24K due to the interest rate. Please do not work with Bath Planet. read more

We live in an old house and we are aging ourselves! We have decided on one renovation a year to help us "age in place". This year's project is the bathroom. With arthritis, it was scary to climb into the original, wobbly claw foot tub. In just one day, we now have a gorgeous walk in shower with grab bars and a seat. My first thought upon waking used to be "tea". Now my first thought is "shower!!!" They are about mid-range in price. Certainly not the cheapest. But they built something that will last, improve the value of our home and go a long way toward making our dream of staying in our home as long as possible come true. this is an uipdate to my previous reveiw - since i could get no 1 from the company to contact me - i figured i would yelp exactly what happened and how bad things were with them. partly to warn others and also thinking any sane business would reach out to unhappy customer wrong on both counts. my brother - a senior vet mind you - was not contacted as he had been told after the initial phone call asking if he was happy and him telling them he was not. she informed him - that is not right and someone will contact you to fix this. never happened. still never happened nor did the woman return my 2 phone calls but dispute the charge and have it taken back and boom the minute their bank notified them that chase was stopping payment because services were not rendered properly oh yeah contacted with treats...not so sorry for any of this, sorry it was not done correcly. sorry your shower does not drain - sorry?? nope you have until 5 o'clock tomorrow before we start the lien process... that was their reply back. so that forces me to update this to 0 stars but i can't because it won't let me give 0 and i don't know how people give it 1/2 star....but yep they haven't even tried to make it right - just threatened... so my next step is bbb and consumer affairs - maybe pam zeckman would love a nice 10 o'clock news story because this is just horrible to not even offer to fix the shoddy job they did. look elsewhere. i would say you get what you paid for but this was definitely not cheap read more

Update on current review. Brian came saw the problem, sent same installer back to fix mistake. Did better but still not happy. Basically rechalked everything, still sloppy shower handle had chalk all over it. Floor and tile still look like crap called Brian told him and he had no ideas.So now I have to get someone out to fix the tile and the corner of the floor. Very aggressive sales people I had to threaten to call the police to get them out of my house. I told them they had a hour to give me an estimate,. I went on their website one time, chose not to give them my contact information because I didn't want to be inundated. After that one look I have had up to five or six phone calls and texts per day. I finally answered the phone and told them to back off. I am interested in a project but I would never hire someone with this kind of gonzo marketing plan. read more
