My brain and body felt like mush after the massage which is exactly how I was hoping to feel. I love this place so much. I went to read the 1 star reviews for fun and I'm honestly very surprised. My family and I have been going to bathhouses all of my life, this is by far one of the nicer ones (peeps the wrote the 1 star reviews id suggest checking those out to give you a better idea of how bathhouses work). Staff are lovely, I'm a big proponent on get what you give, so yea, staff was lovely! Facilities are sooo nice and clean. Any question I had, I asked and was greeted with a respectful staff member answering my question. I had THE BEST time and will be getting a membership. All in all, I am making this because it is so interesting reading 1 star reviews when I had a completely different experience, goes to show we all have our perspectives, and it's important to experience things for yourself! Bathhouse is an amazing gem in Williamsburg, Brooklyn! The bathroom was easy to navigate with lockers, bathroom and toiletries like scrunchies, hair dryers and plastic bags for wet bathing suits. There are bins for used and new slippers in the locker room, and towels are under the staircase before the pool area. (Took a little bit to figure out these sauna necessities). In the common co ed pool area, there are two thermal pool with a cold plunge pool in the middle. There is also a tropical, hot and steam room that was included in my day pass. The space can get packed and crowded since it's a small venue, but definitely still a good time. I really enjoyed the cold plunge pool to cool down after the saunas. As a pro tip, to save some $$ I went there during a weekday morning with cheaper admission ($45), and on the website it looks like the day pass is cheaper for weekday early and late admission. read more

Bathhouse in Williamsburg doesn't protect women. They allow men in the women's lockerooms. I was naked changing into a swimsuit when a man walked into the lockeroom. The staff did nothing about it. When I spoke to the manager last night on a recorded call, he said Bathhouse let's people pick what gender they are. He dismissed me and said "I don't believe a man was in the lockeroom". When I asked how do they protect women from predatory men like this one, the manager simply responded that they don't get into "people's personal business". When I said I won't be returning, he said "okay cool no worries" as if this isn't a legitimate problem. If you don't mind men seeing you naked, you can join Bathhouse. Outside of this, they are overbooked and understaffed. I did the sauna ceremony and during the "lymphatic draining" part people were slapping their sweat all over me. I liked the "sauna master" though who helped me get through my first cold plunge experience. The bartender on the rooftop was sweet and brought our refreshments poolside. As we were finishing up the details to book they told us they had sold it to the people next to us in line and wasn't available anymore. Andy was called over and he didn't even listen to what happened, didn't take a few moments to see how he could help, was just very rude and impolite in general. This is the kind of vibe of the space : they think they are better than you, and don't give a s*** about whether or not you have a good experience. Like the dmv or some sort of call center. I experienced both the spa and the restaurant and I have to say the spa was underwhelming , but the restaurant makes up for it . I would definitely go back for the restaurant as the food was delicious. Everything is recommended to be shared and are small plates . I had the sweet potato salad (cold) and the sweet potato ( warm) , the tuna tartare , the wagyu and the chicken (amazing ). To end the night I had the olive oil cake with ice cream - so good ! Although everything was small , it was filling . It's all simple yet gourmet style food . As for the spa / bath house area . It is so small , not what the pictures show - they are definitely using wide angle when taking the pictures . I really expected more for what you pay and a larger pool and overall space . I was treated by my Homie Lover friend to a day at the bathhouse. I arrived promptly for our evening session and was greeted with open arms. The locker room was packed and this was the first red flag. This place is too small to occupy this many ppl at one time. It was loud and really packed in the pools. The sauna rooms were a bit more comfy but still unreasonably talkative by customers. The pool felt a little sticky and again just over crowded. Someone even took my slippers and towels from the bench I had them on and used them. Wow I was like the "Ghetto" but I wouldn't totally write this place off maybe giving it another try when it's not so crowded would good. Something to consider is this is a bath house not a "spa" really, so I didn't feel a relax and unwind vibe. It felt a little crowded (I went midday on Sunday so prob popular time). I would definitely go back for the Aufguss experience. It's a guided session in the sauna for 12-15 minutes. And then you are guided to cool down in the cold pool or cold shower. *COVID Era Review* Online Booking: Explore All Options Checked for appointments a week ahead and noticed several things were not available for two people at once, but as I explored more booking options, I noticed bath times were still available, and some individual signature treatments were still available. I ended up making my booking on Friday morning for services Saturday evening with the help of recommendations from the staff for making the desire times and preferences work. Phone Help: Great Being a little confused- I called to ask more about what kind of treatments two people could do at once and the staff was very helpful about guiding me into a booking solution with the practitioners they had on hand that would place two people together at the end of their treatments. They said they had an esthetician and a massage therapist available - and recommended a Scrub & Facial for one and a Bathhouse Express Stretch, Focus Massage, and Scrub for the other. This placed the scrub and the facial in the same room at the end of the individual treatments so we didn't need to search for each other afterward (not that there would be much searching in the small pool area- but we didn't know the size of the facilities in advance.) 8pm Signature Treatments: We arrived at 7pm to check in and use the pools in advance of our treatments. We were given instructions for the space and how long we had before and after our treatment times, and little small wristbands to wear. - Scrub & Facial - Erika the esthetician received high reviews for her care, only complaint was needing to be on the marble slab for that. - Bathhouse Express- Andrew was great at talking through everything before he did it, and is able to apply a lot of pressure as needed, and was very receptive to feedback. Locker Rooms & Showers: Great The facilities felt clean and well maintained. Lockers use analogue combination locks you set yourself. There are USB charging plugs in the locker- but I didn't use it. Several toilets and showers with individual doors for each. Quality shower gel, shampoo, and conditioners. Hair dryers, plastic combs, and q-tips available. Plastic baggies for wet swimsuits. Rubber slippers and small to medium sized towels provided. Pool Area: Nice Small 104°F Hot Tub (no bubbles) - 4 people Small 54°F Cold Tub - 4 people (but never more than 1 usually because- cold!) Medium 94°F Pool - 8 people Heated Marble Lounge Slabs - 4 people Numbered Hooks for towels, personal items. Cold Water & Cups for refreshment Tropical Steam Room (didn't use) Another Steam Room (didn't use) Dry Sauna (didn't use) COVID Measures: If you get a treatment- just use one of the surgical masks provided because a mask may get wet during treatments. It does seem they are trying to balance protocols with capacity. Masks were required during treatments except during facial, but were not openly enforced in the pool, sauna, or steam rooms. Some people wore them in pools, some didn't... all people did their best to space out and social distance while trying not to overfill small tubs or steam/saunas. Guest Vibe: Chill & intimate The music, ambiance, and lighting make for a chill environment where low level conversations may happen, but not loud laughter or splashing. I found a really large hair ball on the "fresh towels"... also the provided towels were very scratchy and small. I feel like the darkness of the space really covers up how dirty the place actually was. I really wanted to love this, but other than my 30-minute Hamman scrub, I felt like the "bath house" experience was lacking. It was overly crowded in the pools and in the saunas. Check-in was not a breeze. I thought they said they didn't accept large groups, but in front of us was a really large group (about like 10 people), and it took them a long time to get registered. They didn't really explain how things worked once you're inside the locker room. You just have to figure it out as you go. The locker room was kinda crowded and the slippers situation wasn't really clear. Once inside the bath level, you'll realize how small it is. The pools were pretty crowded, so expect to just sit there, until people get out for their treatments. At my treatment time, there was a huge crowd waiting in the treatment area. I opted for a Hamman scrub for $140 because all the massages were booked up. You basically strip off your top and they scrub you down with a strong loofa. Then they wash you down and apply CBD oil. The scrub is not for the sensitive skin. My skin was baby smooth after rinsing. After spending about 30 more minutes, we felt like we had to go, because it was getting crowded again. Came here for a full body couples massage. Rasheed and Yessica (masseuses) were excellent. They were very professional and attentive. The front desk service was mediocre they didn't provide much instruction or information for first time customers pertaining to the service we were getting. Went at 12:30pm on a Monday, and was gravely disappointed by the experience. The bathhouse itself is small and it's basically just two floors. Bathrooms are upstairs and the pools and sauna rooms are downstairs. The bathroom is one long hallway of lockers, 3 shower stalls and 3 toilet stalls. For the amount of people that they seem to accommodate, this is not enough space at all. We went downstairs to the pools and the largest pool (normal temp) can comfortably fit 8-10 people without feeling too claustrophobic. There's also a smaller cold pool and hot pool - 3 pools total. Around the pools are the different treatment rooms and sauna rooms. Unless you booked a treatment you have choices on the tropical sauna, steam room or dry sauna room. Tropical sauna is probably the biggest room, since it's the one you can stay in the longest. There's absolutely no aromatherapy in any of the sauna rooms, but there are speakers that play music to set the "vibe" - felt clubby to me and not relaxing as I would expect from a spa. I expected somewhere to be able to lounge but there's nowhere to go downstairs. My friend and I only stayed an hour and a half as it got crowded around 2pm and it was too small of a space to accommodate a large group. While the bath experience was not what we hoped, we were even more disappointed by the menu. When we asked about the skewers - the person at the counter said that the chicken skewer "is just one skewer with 3 pieces of chicken and peppers and onion" and that was over $10. As we didn't want to pay for a single skewer at that price, we then opted for the black hummus toast, cashew dip and side of pita. They automatically add gratuity and with an order total of $30, we didn't even get a whole piece of pita in the toast or the side. Whew went here w my fiancé for his birthday and was in shock anyone leaves a review over 2 stars. Upon entering, the bathroom for women was crowded, lockers were a nightmare trying to find one that worked. On top of that no robes just these incredibly cheap towels. Which was also a shock bc if you're not going to offer a robe (literally a standard in most places) you could at least offer a nice quality towel. We finally get downstairs and the pools are packed ! Idk who's here deciding on the capacity but this feels like a spa lounge. The pools were gross and I could see the layer of dirt on top. After deciding neither of us wanted to get into that water, we went into the sauna. Which was filled with people. I couldn't believe the pool and sauna was THAT full. These people are money hungry bc this was SO crowded. Even outside by the pool area it was loud! When we went to wait for our massage it was so crowded there was no where us to sit and wait. And in the steam room, the same. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. There's way nicer spas for this price. Save your money and take it to a place that actually creates a spa environment. Ok, so I want to love this place so we're not gonna leave a terrible review, rather just some areas of improvement. 1) The lobby/check-in is super modern, while maintaining that good urban vibe with white painted exposed brick. I like the check-in process, with friendly staff, and the price of admission is right. 2) Femme locker room is tin-Ty, especially for a busy Friday night when i went, so keep your load light. I tend to go to the spa with all my stuff for bathing, but I would definitely keep your products to a minimum. They provide shampoo, conditioner, face wash, face lotion, body wash, hair ties, cotton balls and swabs. There are only 3 shower stalls which is WAY TOO FEW for a spa. Spa is for bathing rituals, so that should always be the focus, but instead, some people weren't even rinsing off before going into the pools (yuck). 3) In hindsight, I probably would not have gone into the pools. Too many questionable clean bodies in bathing suits of also questionable cleanliness. I saw multiple people dipping their heads into the pools which should be prohibited because of the products in people's hair. The pools were giving human soup. 4) The steam room was A+! Second fave part of the spa. It was extremely steamy and had a shower inside up cool down. Really enjoyed it. 5) The cold plunge is AMAZING (minus the folks with something to prove dipping there head in). Extremely good but very satisfying! 6) The best part for me, hands down, was the heated marble lounging area. I could sleep on that for hours, but I was concerned about how often they are cleaned. Overall, while the space has a serene ambience, there needs to be a better education around spa culture. In addition to the noise monitor, someone should be ensuring people at least rinse off (which honestly is the bare minimum) before getting into the pools. And to accommodate more bathing, perhaps turn a toilet stall in the locker rooms into a shower stall. I want y'all to win, but not at the expense of cleanliness. read more

Lived in Williamsburg for 20 years and saw many businesses come and go. I'm big into bathing culture and have been to various bath houses and onsens around the world. This place is nice in terms of temperatures and offerings, but severely lacks in service quality and atmosphere. It doesn't have to be the La Prairie or La Mer spa (both of which aren't bath houses but have staff that are accommodating and help create a relaxing atmosphere), but they can definitely bring it up to par by properly training staff. Drum and bass in a sauna is for a sex club not a bathhouse. Scrub was ok. My girl didn't seem like she wanted to be there. It's effing crowded even on a Monday morning. I came in at 8:59 and there was a checkin line instead of the front desk girl just checking people in because she was literally just standing there...something that was supposed to be relaxing was just a pig in a lipstick. No towels stocked in the changing room. The two towels I was given were some thrift store bargain bin quality. Super raggedy and thin. No bathrobes provided either. Pretty dirty even though it just opened. One of the toilets had pee in it even though I was literally the first person to come into the changing room. Final straw was front desk girl, a young straight hair blond chick, making me tell her what I want to leave for tip out loud with a line behind me without providing any discretion. "How much do you want to leave? 20%?" That's after she just kind of told me to leave without proper checkout and not knowing whether I got a treatment or not. Completely tacky. Also fyi, they charge tax on gratuity you leave, which isn't a big deal because it's a few dollars but that's a little scheme for them. AKA: They consider your tip a service charge and not a voluntary tip. Overall, was looking forward to this after a rough night looking after my sick son, but unfortunately the front desk experience and the loud club music left a bad taste in my mouth. What was disappointing is how much we paid for a couples massage that was supposed to be a 50 minute massage but they called us in and started almost 15-20 min late and ended early. I came at the latest time, 10pm on a Saturday, and expected it to be nice and quiet in lieu of party goers and people going out on the town. WRONG!! I have never been to a spa or any type of bathhouse where it's so loud and almost roudy to the point of a party or social gathering. Droves and droves of people in groups, no attempts to quiet voices, or have any type of spa decorum, just a full on social gathering happening in that spa. I was so overstimulated and stressed out because I came here to relax and reconnect with the sound of my own voice, and drop into a meditative state so I could actually enjoy and feel the affects of the amenities I was paying for to use. Unfortunately I couldnt even hear my own voice or relax over the din of people talking. Extremely crowded as well, everywhere I went I felt like I was in someone's way, in the locker rooms especially. Very, very strange and disembodied experience. I feel like people come to spas to relax and unwind, I've worked at several and this was the exact opposite of that. I've never experienced anything like this. If your idea of fun is coming in with a huge group of people you haven't spoken to in a while and wanna catch up with, so loud in fact that everyone can hear you (bonus points if you're a group of 6+ tech bros that don't have a care in the world who hears you or whoyou're disturbing), this would be the PERFECT place for you. My husband booked us a couples massage for my birthday, and we were looking forward to spending the rest of the afternoon hanging out in what I assumed would be a calm, relaxing atmosphere. The massage was great, but the place itself left a lot to be desired. Other than the guy at the front desk and the massage therapists it was hard to find anyone who worked there, so if you had any questions you were out of luck. The locker room/shower/bathroom area was TINY, and there weren't enough lockers for everyone who was there. I had to wait fifteen minutes at 1:00 on a Monday afternoon - can't imagine what it's like on a weekend day! They also don't give you a robe to use while you're there. The actual bathhouse area downstairs was also much smaller than expected, certainly smaller than it looks on their website. The pools were crowded and there was really nowhere to sit and relax. The music was also distracting, with a "trance" vibe at a too-high volume. It would have been nice if there was someone to pick up the towels that get left lying around the pool area. The saunas and steam rooms were really nice though, relaxing and comfy, although again with the off-putting (to me) music. The "aufgass" ritual in the tropical sauna was great. Our massage therapists were very good as well. It seemed like most of the other guests were very young (25-30) and it might be a better vibe for that generation. UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I had paid and booked a couples massage. Upon arrival I was told the couples room was in use during our slot, and they asked if my partner and I were ok getting massages in separate rooms. When I asked for an explanation, the employee (who was very kind) said she'd speak with the manager to see if they could make it right. When she returned, we were told that the manager claimed it was our fault for not specifying we wanted a couples massage in the couples room (lmaoooo) and we essentially had to take it or leave it. Before going to Bathhouse, I had heard about other's experiences- some noted how loud it was (because people were there with their friends and shouting?), to how good the food was, to how crowded it is... Quick note- this is a bathhouse, not a spa. A bathhouse is a "communal gathering space" so it's going to get communal and you may need to get close to some strangers. If you're not interested in that, this may not be your cup of tea, just fyi. My husband (who has been a few times) really likes the place, so I took the (cold) plunge (sorry but I had to) and gave it a try. This place is reservation only (with very limited walk-ins, as I overheard someone trying to get in was explained to) so we made a reservation for Sunday morning 9:30am slot- we made the reservation a few weeks in advance, so if you're ready to commit, reserve early! Check-in was easy- tell them your name (or email address that you made the reservation with) and get a wristband and some towels. You can link a credit card to your wristband at the little terminal near the locker rooms- your wristband is your locker key and also can be paid for food at the restaurant. Locker room is pretty small and narrow- pick a locker, lock it by pressing your wristband against the lock for 2 seconds, grab your sandals by the door to the baths and you're ready to go. While not the most spacious bath I've ever been to, I thought it had a good variety of stuff, from pools (one thermoneutral, one hot, and one cold to the point it hurts), saunas (there's two!), and a steam room that made me think I had somehow turned into a dumpling being steamed. There are rock slabs that you can hang out on (I very briefly fell asleep on one, oops) and also benches and chairs. There are also hooks to hang your towels from while you explore. We did a circuit around and tried it all- very nice! As we were going around, it did begin to fill up in the bath. Our crowd was very respectful and kept their voices down, but I really think YMMV depending on the day/time. At 11am, we got to try the aufguss experience in the large sauna- this is where an "aufgussmeister" performed a sort of sauna ritual where they melt essential oil infused snowballs and water on the sauna's hot stones and used a towel to rhythmically circulate the fragrance and the heat. Our aufgussmeister told us this was a test of endurance- "if you're feeling the heat, concentrate on your breathing, in through your nose, out through your mouth!" The whole experience was surreal- you feel like you are in a trance, as you listen to the music but focus on your breathing while occasionally getting blasted with hot fragrant air when the aufgussmeister was around with his constantly swirling towel. We were in there for 12 minutes and we ENDURED, and it was really cool! Afterwards we cooled down by showering and then going in to the cold pool. I felt lightheaded but in a good way- you truly feel all your blood just rushing inside you after the experience. Afterwards, we popped into the restaurant to grab some food- order at the bar, and they will bring to your table. We shared a french toast (served with half of a sweet roasted peach and cream, delicious!) and also a coconut chia pudding (topped with dried coconut, pistachio and strawberries) and also had some fresh juices. If you're not interested in the baths, just go for the food- it was so delicious! They also serve some fun sounding cocktails, so give it a try. A very fun and unique experience! If you have out of town guests, it may be a great place to take them. read more

Overall had a good time ... clean facility but a little small there's only three baths one is cold. There's one steam room and Auna. You're not allowed to use your own towel and the towel towels they give you are very small.. I could see it getting crowded very easily and being uncomfortable... there is also no areas to lounge around or relax. That would've been really nice. read more

A good spot for brunch! While descending the stairs into this spa, I wondered whether I had accidentally booked a spot at brunch. Laid out before me was a crowd of gabbling, chattering Americans sitting erect, office-style, in illuminated pools of water - while exchanging pearls of wisdom on why they like their job, how to get a promotion at their job and what makes their job the best job. Looking closer, it quickly emerged that the only person in the spa actually managing to relax was the masseuse - having likely seen it all before - with the mimosa-sipping crowd seemingly unable, or unwilling, to switch off. Getting away from the avocado-toast munchers proved challenging, as both saunas - hot and cold - are set to such a temperature as to ensure the complete obliteration of any biological life that lurks within them for more than ten minutes. The third sauna, called the tropical sauna, also offered little sanctuary - because it acted as an overflow from the Prosecco-worshippers watering hole. Peace was only achieved when the brunch crowd was called to the main sauna for a 'ceremony' - although, frustratingly, this only lasted 20 minutes. Dear reader, if you are looking for a relaxing day then might I suggest that this spa is not for you. (If you want brunch without avocados, however, then walk right on in!) This spa is surrounded by hype and excitement. But, having been, this does feel rather overblown. I can't say I will rush back in a hurry. A NOTE ON TIPS: Upon exiting the spa, and having observed a 20% gratuity was included in the cafe, I expected to be able to pay and go. But no, after swiping upward of $260 of my treasure, the receptionist then asked whether I would like to leave a tip. She suggested a $28 minimum per masseuse - a number so large that it made my eyes shift in their sockets. I made the point that, because masseuses are not waiters, I am not paying their wage but instead leaving them a little something as a token of my appreciation. I looked it up, and masseuses in New York City earn on average $99,000 per year - that's more than firefighters, policemen and most nurses. I suggested a $10 tip. I had an amazing time here. Personally I feel like the ratings are a bit harsh, because this place was clean and the staff was so friendly. I went with my boyfriend on a Monday at 11:30am and it wasn't even busy. There was people of course but it wasn't packed and everyone was respectful towards each other. It was quiet and calm in the saunas and the pools were amazing. The rooftop was open on a cloudy day and we got a beautiful view of Manhattan. In the downstairs area there was three pools of different temperature and we met a lovely staff member named Omar. I was very hesitant to get into the cold pool but after conversating with him, he convinced me and my boyfriend to do it and we loved it! Omar was so sweet and opened our eyes to a new experience, so Thank you Omar! Honestly it was worth the day pass and we are definitely coming back! We are very satisfied with our trip and felt very refreshed afterwards, just of course dont plan on a busy weekend and go early! read more

Dissatisfied is an understatement as you walk In to this beautiful establishment. Front desk staff lack major professionalism. As I walked in I thought i was walking into a baseball concession stand. For the prices and location I expected more of a refreshing welcome. My first time walking into this establishment and I was not even offered a tour or given instructions on how to get to location for the service I paid for. In addition I was given the wrong treatment after inquiring about the one I was interested in. I would suggest you look at what you paid for before walking in. Overall as I walked in, it was nice not your typical spa relaxing spot, but you would enjoy. I found it condescending for the front desk staff to shout out " Aren't you going to tip for your service ? I was confused because I still had the band on my hand and I had just walked out the spa into the lobby. They will also ask you to give the exact 20%. Not knowing if you actually enjoyed? Instead of asking how was your treatment today? When I asked for the young ladies name for her lack of unprofessionalism, she gave me "Bond" the AI for the business directory when you call. Sooo I'm officially addicted to the spa. I had been wanting to check this place out at the close of the summer and I wasn't missing anything. I mean the yelp reviews said it was small but I was like eh whatever it's so how small could it be. Let's say those photos of the ppl by the pool are very misleading. You cannot fit more than 20 ppl down there like thats bananas. I was in a pool and. A couple got in and another and it was full like that's it ima have to get out. So I was like ima start the new year stress free checked the availability online and booked a scrub. I was late upon arrival parking is tricky and they offered me to keep my appointment but from the time I got there so In essence I paid for a 15 minute scrub. That was my fault yes- but they way the skinny young hip girl was afraid to touch me like THATS NOT A SCRUB you guys! It's not! I was beyond disappointed; but to make the best if it I checked out the rest of the amenities and stumbled upon the small restaurant they had. Here I enjoyed a refreshing cocktail in my silk pants and face mask while listening to rich ppl talk about their plans and thought to myself that I should have just had lunch instead of wasting all this money. The food was amazing I must say. The spa was clean and has all the usual that you would expect it's just not wOrth the price for me. Bathhouse did the trick. The pools and saunas and steam rooms were super therapeutic and our couples massage was good. Food was delicious and the aesthetics were A+. Why they only get four stars - like others have said, there was SO much gabbing. It was so odd to hear New Yorkers be so chatty with each other. I REALLY wish the staff would have done more to ensure a whisper amongst guests, like the (very hidden) icons on the walls () suggested. read more

It's giving community pool vibes! Bathhouse was super crowded and definitely not as relaxing as i expected. The massage and facial were the only pro. If you're visiting for the pools or saunas save yourself the money. I also tried the restaurant, drinks and appetizers were good at a reasonable price. read more

Ahhh if you're aching for a nice sauna experience then this might be your best bet in brooklyn As far as price goes it's. Not "cheap" but not Uber expensive either Nice clean saunas , they've got the very hot & the kinda hot "tropical sauna" 3 different pools with different temperatures of course I'm used to the Russian banya on Coney Island ave , this place is like a miniature version of that , nice & cozy It's BROOKLYN , we're used to not having a ton of space Me & my lady went to the adjoining restaurant after & The drinks are goooood & so was that chicken breast , yum ... one problem :-/ where's the rest of the food !
