Wonderful and luxurious little spa afternoon for 2 that doesn't cost more than a benji ($100), which I really appreciated. The spa floor is on the third floor of the Howard Hotel, and upon entering--you're promptly greeted by the concierge and a super lush and cooling lobby. When you check in with the clerk in the hallway, (who was super nice btw), you have the option to sign some waivers, but I save some time by signing documents on my phone on the way. The whole floor is rather zen, except for the cleaners you can hear outside your room. You're welcomed in by refreshing scents, think Byredo or OUAI. We booked the 1 hour dose for two and were promptly ushered to our private room, which included the infared sauna centered and the adjacent bathroom to it, with high quality hair products (Redken Acidic Line), Peter Thomas Roth skincare products, and a tea tree body wash. Included was a hair dryer, some face masks, and some takeaways provided by some of the sponsors they're currently working with (eye masks, etc). Staff started the timer for an hour and we were left to our own devices in the dim, soothingingly calm lighted room. You are able to play your own music if you connect to the speakers but I thought it was fun to just vibe out to their own chill techno zen-yourself-out music. I loved how the sauna experience came with some cool wet towels and face wipes, as well as a ice cool water canister in the corner to refill as you please. The sauna itself was exceptionally clean and well kept. Since I don't experience this often, I found it most tolerable when I took frequent breaks outside by walking around or just refreshing myself with the towels provided. I was piqued when the staff notified us afterwards that there's a 15% discount when you book your next spa day with them right after your appointment, and that deal can be started anytime you come in. I felt refreshed for the rest of the day, despite being in this heatwave and perusing around LES/Chinatown afterwards (which is usually rather overstimulating and sweat inducing). I'll def be back--the time passes rather slowly, and it felt like one of those little luxuries that set the pace for the rest of the day. What an interesting experience! I booked my bf and I a 30 minute quick dose session. You enter through the lobby of 11 Howard hotel, and take the elevator up to the 3rd floor. There's a small check in desk, and if it's your first time, I highly recommend asking how it all goes down.. otherwise they'll prob just bring you to your room straight away because time is of the essence It looks like most of this floor has been rented out by HigherDOSE because your sauna is in a private hotel room. That means there's no common locker room area with showers or anything, all of that is in your hotel room. Thus, your undress/shower/dress time is included in your timed session. But the privacy is really nice! They have a water dispenser and a fridge with Perrier which you can bring into the sauna. It's also nice you can connect your phone to the speaker if you want to listen to music. I think a 30 minute session is a bit too quick to reap the benefits. If you're going to rinse off, you really only have 20-25 mins in the sauna, so I'd go for the 60 min next time. We were just starting to sweat around 15-20 mins. There are different light therapies you can choose from within the sauna, and they have a book at the check in desk that explains all the benefits of different colors. By the time I got into my room, I completely forgot LOL and they don't post it anywhere in the room, so we basically just used the auto function to cycle through all the colors. Did we get any benefits from a few mins of each color?? Who knows lol but it was a cool experience. Once you leave your room, you're pretty much done and don't need to check out or anything! I read that if you do go over your time limit (there's a timer inside the sauna), then they charge like $2.50 per minute or something. The only thing I really didn't like is the time limit. I went to Clean Market for infrared sauna, and felt much more relaxed because I could take my time getting dressed and washed up for the rest of my day. A hidden gem in NYC for a private sauna escape! This is located inside 11 Howard Hotel on the third floor. We were guided to our own private hotel room where the sauna was located along with our own bathroom/shower. The staff gave us a rundown of the different sauna settings along with the different light therapy options. Shoutout to Faith for giving us the walkthrough! She was super sweet and friendly! Red = Good for killing bacteria, acne, scars, and wrinkles Yellow or orange = Good for health issues like blood pressure Blue = Perfect for mediation Purple = Good for insomnia We had set it on auto because we could not decide which light therapy to settle on. If this is your first infrared sauna, this is similar to a hot yoga session without the yoga part. An infrared sauna uses low electromagnetic heaters to warm directly rather than heating the air around you. So think less steamy, but the same effects of a traditional sauna. We also loved all the amenities that came with the room - 111Skin products, cold facial wipes, and mineral water. We did the full dose, which was one hour including both sauna and shower, so make sure you have enough time to shower. Highly recommend! read more

So i sent those screenshots and they claimed the missing pieces were still coming. When they didn't i emailed again. THEY then claimed my pieces were not apart of my bundle. This was my first time experiencing a sauna after having always wanted to enjoy one for the longest time and my expectations were superseded. The young woman at the front desk was so friendly and warm and I definitely felt the assurance of being in good hands. The music playing in the waiting room really set the tone and was very relaxing (precisely as you'd expect in a spa). The lights are really low and moody so it really gets your relaxation mode into gear before you even step into the private infrared sauna room. There was a 30 min option and a 60 min. I highly suggest 60 min. There's no way you'd be able to settle in and decompress in 30 AND shower and change in time. Every additional minute spent in the room outside of your booked time costs 2.50. A timer is set for you to keep tabs on your duration spent in the room thoigh. The experience includes cold face towels which were infused with what smelled like eucalyptus (?). It was very strong (but in a good way). There's refrigerated beverages (we had cans of Perrier when we went) and a cold water dispenser available and a Bluetooth speaker. The bathroom had a shower (thank god because the Brooklyn location did not) equipped with shampoo,l and conditioner from Sol de Janeiro, and body wash, and a hairdryer. A couple more towels (or longer towels) would've been nice because I felt like any moment I was gonna flash my friend because it was too short and not longer enough to wrap comfortably around me and stay put. I'm very small in stature so I can imagine this would be a whole lot worse for someone who was taller. It was recommended to spend 40 min in the sauna and 20 min to cool down but if you shower really quick you really don't need more than 10/15 to shower and change. Definitely wear something airy and as few components as possible because you won't realize just how long it takes to change into clothes until you have only 3 minutes left on your timer. Go for a dress and make it easy. Or like a t shirt and baggy pants so you can slip in quick. The only issue I had is that the heat gave me a splitting headache for the rest of the day. (My appointment was 11:15am lol and the headache/migraine was prevalent until the late evening--and then I just had to surrender to Tylenol because it was becoming a nuisance). So use those cold towels to keep your head cool and avoid my debacle. If you book the next appointment at the premises you get 15% off. read more

I read previous reviews on several websites BBB, google, reddit that it is a known fact about their customer service doesn't respond but I didn't think it would be this bad. I have burn marks from the rods on my body when fully clothed 100% cotton and on low temperature. I'm in the return window and have reached out 7 times via email and had the soho store email customer service. No one answers the phone. You can't leave reviews on their website which is why they are all positive. Still no response to return the item. For such a well known company and high priced item this is unacceptable. The views are absolutely incredible and they have an option to include a cold plunge into your session, which left me feeling energized all day and gave me the best night's sleep. Never been to something like this before. It is definitely a unique experience with some great customer service. The concept is that You get your own room with a sauna in it. It looks like it was a converted hotel room into a room with a sauna in it. They also have chromatherapy which is a light therapy in the sauna. The concept is that the different colors of light give off a different therapeutic benefit. I am not sure if it actually does anything but I guess people buy this jargon. The cool part of the concept is that you get your own room and its full privacy. That being said, it was a fun time with my wife. We did the 60 min session and we enjoyed relaxing. My girlfriend and I had a great time here as we did an hour session together. Lana was extremely nice and helpful both over the phone and in person. The rooms are built out within what would have been a hotel room, so the bathrooms are nice and have great standup showers for after you sweat for 45 minutes. The rooms also include a blow dryer so you don't need to pack one, and they have coconut waters for sale in the room which I'd recommend as you do sweat a lot. The rooms also include body lotion for after your shower and a big filtered water system for during your session. I'll be back as it was a great relaxing experience for $80 (for two), $60 for one. This place was amazing!!! Super relaxing and I got the entire room to myself for 30 minutes! I came in early and the room wasn't ready yet so I was told to wait in the hotel lounge (very pretty space) on the 2nd floor. They called me and I was able to go into the room. The person working was very quick with giving instructions. I got free skin samples and free seltzer water from the mini fridge! I was also provided a Bluetooth speaker to connect my music while I was in the room. The sauna itself was very therapeutic. There were different colors you could select. I just left it on the red color. It got up to 177°F. The only stressful thing about it is timing yourself and making sure you get out of the sauna with 10 minutes to shower and get dressed. (I highly recommend you leave 10 minutes for this part). They provided towels, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. After the sauna experience, I felt very energized and ready to get some work done. Great option for a private sauna at a reasonable price. As I understand it, this is a collaboration between HigherDOSE, a wellness company that makes sauna and sauna-adjacent products, and 11 Howard, a boutique Soho hotel. Essentially, you're paying to rent out a hotel room where the bed has been replaced by one of HigherDOSE's saunas. I made an appointment online and arrived a bit early, so after taking the elevator to the third floor, I was led to a waiting room containing various HigherDOSE products. A staff member then led me to the sauna room, gave me a brief explanation of the amenities, and left me to my own devices. The sauna consists of a small box big enough for me, a man of average height, to lie down in comfortably but with my legs tucked up. You're provided a towel, but since it's a private sauna, you can wear whatever you want (or don't want) to wear. It's an infrared sauna, so the heat is less intense and it takes longer to work up a sweat, but once you do, you'll definitely sweat. You can adjust the sauna's lighting, with different options (supposedly) providing different therapeutic benefits. The room is thoughtfully laid out with blackout curtains, subdued lighting, a bench to rest or put your clothes on, and extras like a Bluetooth speaker, a pitcher of water, and a fridge full of cold towels and complementary drinks (I had miniature cans of flavored Perrier, including cucumber and pineapple). The room also contains a surprisingly large private bathroom, with a hair dryer and the kind of fancy shampoos and soaps you'd expect from a boutique hotel. Overall, I'd say that the sauna itself is just fine, but the overall experience is great. Considering that you get a private room with its own shower, towels, and drinks, I think HigherDOSE is a great value and definitely plan on returning. Sauna nerd notes: - The sauna's thermostat was set to 174°, but the temperature never went above 165°. There is a gap between the glass door and the adjacent "walls" of the sauna box which released heat into the room. It's an infrared sauna, so I ended up sweating regardless, but I prefer more heat and wished it had gone up to the advertised temperature. I went in early May, too, so I'd worry about losing even more heat in the winter. - The sauna is made of some synthetic material that remains fairly cool to the touch and doesn't have any particular scent. The only scent I experienced came from the cold towels in the fridge, which are treated with some pleasant herbal scent (eucalyptus?). - Since the hotel is in an older NYC building, you can clearly hear noise coming from the hallway and adjacent rooms (especially the sounds of vacuuming and cleaning). If this bothers you, I'd recommend setting up white noise on the provided Bluetooth speaker. - I wouldn't recommend this sauna for hot / cold contrast. Since the shower is in the room, it's easy to go back and forth, but the shower stubbornly remained lukewarm (normally a plus in NYC hotels, but...). The sauna's temperature is also low, so I suspect you'll get the most out of your session if you maximize your continuous sauna time. - While you're charged if you stay past the time you booked, there's no checkout procedure, so you're able to enjoy the full advertised time. read more

I cannot say enough good things about my higherDOSE blanket. First, I live in Los Angeles so to get anywhere is a full day affair. The fact that I am able to get infrared therapy in the comfort of my own home is a blessing. My blanket is convenient and most importantly, it is highly effective. I had to start off slow because I can be pretty sensitive when it comes to detox. We live in a day and age where we are inundated with toxins in our food, water, and air. To maintain optimal health, it is crucial for me to get these toxins out of my body whenever possible. With that said, detox is a marathon, not a sprint. To be able to use this blanket at my own comfort level and frequency that specifically works for me is a huge benefit. It gives me control of the level of detox. If I start to detox a little too much, I back off a bit. The blanket is VERY well made, durable, comfortable (I use some towels underneath & blow up pillow for my nick and head), quite easy to clean (follow the manufacturers suggestions) and quick & easy to fold up and put away. The control is easy to use and self explanatory. The cord is long enough for me to do the treatment away from the plug socket and in a place I am most comfortable. Used regularly, I can say I definitely feel the benefits like more energy, lightness in my body, aches and pain subsiding, and I would even say mood enhancement. The blanket has been a life-saver in helping get mycotoxins & endotoxins out as I detox. Lastly, the customer service for highDOSE goes above and beyond for their customers. My experience with them has been outstanding. I honestly think this company truly is the real deal and cares about their customers, clients, and health. There is something about them that feels like the real deal. That is hard to come by these days. I would just like to conclude that I do not work for this company and have no affiliation with them. But today was my 1st time at the Howard location. First I want to make it clear that the establishment is beautiful and comfortable; and major plus are the showers. So I guess I miscalculated my timing and I was prob off by 5 minutes maybe. But I felt so freaking rushed! In the middle of showering someone came knocking "YOUR TIME IS UP" okay. 2nd time someone came knocking again; I was in the middle of changing this time! Because of this I went from relaxed to flustered and panicking. The girl who was working there was so unpleasant as well. Expressionless, monotoned and over all unpleasant vibe. The older 30's/40's women that sits at the front on her personal phone on calls that makes you feel very bothersome when you arrive to your appointment and after when I was looking to reschedule. The actual saunas are great, clean, and great products. But, the staff really takes away from the experience and I rarely ever feel uncomfortable by the way staff act. I hope this gets fixed. Going by yourself to this location and having this room to yourself for an hour to just zone it and detox and listen to your music and just meditate in this amazing box lol. I sleep like a baby after HigherDOSE and my skin feels so soft and my face has this refreshed glow to it. I even feel like I'm getting a facial for how amazing my face looks and feel after. I've been dosed!! Maybe this isn't something you want to yell on the streets of NYC, but in the context of HigherDose, I'll scream it! This review is specifically of the SOHO location, as it's the only one I've been to. 1. Sign-Up: The process is super easy and can be done from your computer or phone. Simply pick the date, time, pay and you're done! 2. Arrival: It's on the 3rd floor of the 11 Howard Hotel. The elevator is clearly marked inside in case you forget which floor. When you walk in, it's like a hotel hallway with a bunch of doors. The reception area, inside one of the doors, already makes you feel zen and happy. The person who greets you is great. She wasted no time getting me into a room and up to speed. In a "New York minute" if you will. 3. The room: Each IR sauna is in its own room complete with bathroom, including shower, amenities, towels, scented mist, bluetooth speaker and chromatherapy (color therapy). It's peaceful and quiet and the space is just immaculate. Super amazing. 4. The IR experience: IR saunas heat you from the inside out. Does the room get hot? Yes, unbearably hot? No. Did I sweat my tookus off? I sure did! I bought the full hour session. 5 minutes to get into the sauna, 40 minutes in the sauna and another 15 to shower, get dressed and leave. It was just the perfect amount of time. So the only drawbacks is that it can be a bit pricey if you want to do this as a routine. My only problem is, why do they put you in a room with a shower when you aren't allowed to stay in the room past 30 minutes or 1 hour. Sure, your amenities are cool, but you don't give us time to use them, so what's the point???? Based on this practice, after my 5-pack I'll stop coming. It was my first sauna experience with HigherDOSE in NYC but not a first one overall as I had an amazing experience with it in Sedona, AZ. I was really looking forward to zen and relaxation. The establishment is beautiful. However, I made a mistake of not listening to my own music and the same rap song that they had playing for 30 min really didn't seem to go with the experience. I was surprised to learn that the 30 minutes session also included my undressing before the session and dressing after the session. That means that you only getting about 20 minutes of your 30 minute session. I fell extremely rushed and I couldn't relax because I was too worried about the time as they charge you $2.5 for every minute that you stay over. I was really looking forward to making this my weekly relaxation session but was extremely disappointed with how it's handled. If I pay for 30 minutes of something, I expect to get the full 30 minutes. read more
