I bought 2 day passes for my boyfriend and I as a surprise for a Friday afternoon! I have never been to this Bathhouse location, let alone any! So I'm writing my review based on my general experience without comparisons! Overall it was a really fun experience and I felt really relaxed afterwards. I perhaps would try the Manhattan location as I heard it is bigger than the Williamsburg one, but I was satisfied with this location. Once I arrived, I checked in at the front desk, where I was given a bracelet and a spiel about how the lockers work (there are also instructions on the lockers themselves in case those verbal instructions went in one ear and out the other). I do wish, especially as a first-timer, I was given a better run down of what offerings were available for the day pass. As I hadn't booked an appointment (i.e. massage), I later wasn't fully sure which amenities were available to all members or were for private rooms. My boyfriend and I went separate ways into the locker room. The lockers are not that large: enough to fit a bag and a puffy jacket. I saw some people leave their bags and shoes underneath the benches to take up less space in the locker. The locker room is a bit small. If there are two people on either side of the hall where the lockers are lined, there is no room for walking. There are also 3 showers (I decided not to shower there and wait until I was back home because all 3 were in use when I was done with the experience). There are 5 toilet stalls in the locker room, from what I remember. Given the lack of private space available, most everyone was dressing and undressing by the lockers. Towels were provided at the front desk, and there is a bunch of slippers available to use as well. I had brought my own flip flops; had I known they provided slippers I would have opted for those! Once I left the locker rooms from the other side, I descended the stairs to the main bathhouse room. There are 3 pools: 1 large hot tub/pool, 1 ice bath, 1 small hot tub. The small tubs had a max capacity of 6 people while the large one had a max capacity of 13. The larger hot tub was less warm temperature than the small hot tub. The hot tubs were more difficult than I expected to get in, but as soon as you get your full body in there, you get used to it quickly! Even with those max capacities (which was reached while I was there), it would be crowded! While there were different doors off to the side that were meant for the private bookings, there were 3 saunas as well. Despite that, I was surprised there was only this one room. I guess my expectations were there would be at least 2 different pool rooms. Due to the fact there is only one room, it got loud. It felt more like a social bathhouse because everyone is chatting. Do not expect a quiet zen experience being in the tubs. The saunas were the quiet rooms, especially since all of us were concentrating on trying to stay calm and take in the heat! But it's only a short period of peace because one can only stay in those for so long! I liked the heated marble slabs off to the side of the pools. Those were nice to lay on, especially to take breaks from using the pools and saunas. When I was booking the experience I was surprised the day pass was $55 (weekday). However, based on my personal experience, given the limited amenities, it's a bit difficult to spend more than 3 hours here, even if you wanted to stay a long time. Possible if you booked one of the private appointments or spent some time in the cafe. Now that I know this, it's definitely worth it to book the cheaper morning or late evening sessions (which are 2hrs long), because that's just the right amount of time. read more

Expansive, great space with numerous pools of different temperatures. Food in the cafe (dumplings) was great. The guys in the locker room were helpful and friendly. However. Pools are not clean enough (tissue pieces floating in them; I got a bad sore throat and fever a day or two later). Spaces need more signage. The lobby did have a foul odor, as someone mentioned. The female staff at check-in lacked friendliness. Too crowded overall, but especially the rooftop--loud, trashy people. When I wrote to the management, they suggested that I would have a better and quieter experience at Flatiron during the summer. Great service but great tipping pressure. I took my girlfriend here as a late christmas present. We got the Couples Full-Body Massage. The package we got cost a little over $350 and we very much enjoyed our 4 hour stay, we have never went to a spa place and felt extremely refreshed throughout every part of the experience. My girlfriend suggested going to another spot afterwards to eat but because I loved the service so far at the time, I suggested we eat at the Bathhouse restaurant. I spent a little over another $130 on food there (gladly). As we leave we have to give our wristbands in and are asked if we want to leave a tip, with the lowest percentage being 18% (about $52 in my case). I clicked no thank you (mainly due to me already overspending) and the machine physically did not let me pass through the subway-style doors, it said to go to the front desk for custom tip amounts. I go and explain the situation, in which she asks for my phone number and verifies my name with me. She then repeats back to me every service included in the Couples Full-Body Massage that i purchased (except the food), and asks if i want to tip, in which i said no thank you. She asks me why. I said "mainly because of my available money". She says okay, then opens the doors, I say "thank you" or "thanks", and she quickly said "have a good night". There wasn't any blatant rude behavior but more like passive aggressive pressure to tip. I am not against tipping culture, I am a 21 year old college student who overspent, and I feel like this would have been a 10/10 experience if it weren't for the final interaction. This happened about an hour ago 6:30-6:33 and it still has left a bit of a sour taste. I understand a company would want to maximize tips, or want to get more insight into why non-tippers aren't tipping, but i strongly disagree with the methodology of physically not allowing them to leave until they explain why they didn't tip, while also asking them a second time if they want to tip. If you did tip at least 18%, you were allowed to leave immediately with no other step in the process, if this were purely about gaining insight, why wouldn't they also ask the tippers what went right? that is also valuable information. Overall great place, I just did not expect that pressure at the end or that i would be prompted to tip at the end, as I assumed the high prices meant the workers were well compensated and it went to their pockets as well. read more

Bath House was a new and interesting experience. My advice is not to compare it to any other spa, experience it with an open mind. It's a bath house with Turkish inspired roots. There were three small "pools" one hot, a warm and a pool so cold no one could withstand the coldness for more than 30 seconds. They offered a steam, sauna and a show room where they held aufguss sessions that lasted 12 minutes and led us through the experience. Personally the Aufguss was the highlight of bathhouse. It's a multi sensory experience where the heat in the sauna intensifies as essential oils and music fill the room. The food was delicious.great quality and presentation! Cons: please improve the cleanliness of the areas. There should be a worker constantly going around to pick up the soiled towels that are honestly thrown everywhere. Adding bathrobes and hooks around the walls would help to keep things in order. read more

Bathhouse is a quaint & cool spa-esque facility in the Northside section of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Bathhouse is accessible via the L train to Bedford Avenue and then walking some minutes to the place. The Northside and Southside of Williamsburg is easily walkable, and there are shops, boutiques, eateries, and restaurants within blocks of Bathhouse. Although Sojo Spa is my favorite, Bathhouse has quickly become a favorite of mine as well. Why? Well, Bathhouse is conveniently located in Brooklyn, their Day Pass is affordable, and one can stay all day/night as Bathhouse is open until Midnight! Bathhouse has a Day Pass that I have purchased everytime I visit there, which grants general admission to their three spa pools, the Dry & Tropical Saunas & the Steam Room along w/ the ability to just sit, relax & lounge around in the facility. Remember that Bathhouse is "cozy-sized," and if you are fine w/ that, then you will be comfortable. Bathhouse's Weekday Day Pass is $45 until 11 am & also after 10 pm - It is $55 from 11 am - 10 pm. Bathhouse's Weekend Day Pass is $70 all day until 10 pm - It is $45 at 10 pm. The women's locker room is narrow. However, it is ok to navigate around during the early morning hours before the place gets a little crowded. Setting a reservation for 9am or 9:30am on a weekday is good because there are fewer people & more peace/ quiet. The Bathhouse steam room and the two saunas are heated well. Cool music plays in the background, especially in the sauna rooms. There are options to lay around and to sit on the heated marbled areas. There are two heated spa pools and one cold plunge spa pool. One of my favorite things to do at Bathhouse is to participate in their AUFGUSS - a wellness/ritual experience that occurs in their Tropical Sauna Room. So Exhilarating! Bathhouse staff are so kind, attentive, and gracious. I have been greeted warmly by staff in the lobby when entering Bathhouse, and then they proceed to give each customer (after confirming their reservation) a ribbon arm bracelet used to lock / unlock your locker. They work so hard to keep the place clean, organized, etc. I have observed employees mop up excess floor water continuously and place out new clean dry towels for patrons to have throughout the day. The hostess let me in early to enjoy since it was not too busy. The locker room was clean and theee are a lot of lockers to secure your stuff. They even offer slippers. We enjoyed the saunas and they also offer a sauna class that we enjoyed soooo much we participated twice. It involves a instructor, smooth music and beautiful smelling oils to relax you mind and body. There is 3 pools to enjoy. I brought my partner here for a belated vday treat, but was quite disappointed that it wasn't as relaxing as we had hoped. Pools were crowded and by late afternoon, bits of hair was floating around in the pool. If bathhouse capped the number of guests, I think quality and environment could be a lot better. Nobody enforced quiet talking and it felt like being in a busy cafe. Some great things included their cafe - my mushroom plate was to die for. They automatically charge 20% tip, however. I also really enjoyed my massage which was strong and the massage table was heated. Beautifully designed space, it's a shame that the spa experience of relaxation did not occur. I visited with a day pass, at 11am. Whereas they open at 9am, and the pools already had quite a bit of materials floating in it: hair, tissue etc. The spa staff was always bustling around cleaning, so it really must be the capacity is set too high for the space. The saunas were nice, but sadly every couple of minutes someone would open the door and shout "g*ddam it's hot" and ruin the ambiance. There were plenty of folks hanging out solo, reading books and relaxing. Wish there was more of that. Have people tie up their hair, and or offer scrunchies in the locker rooms. Curb the loud talking, yes the cold plunge is cold. I recommend they have guests read a spa etiquete guide and sign/agree to it. If not followed, act accordingly. So you can't take any pictures inside which is why the review has no photos. It's a cell phone less area which makes total sense. The actual amenities themselves are great. Countless bathes, different saunas, different pools with different temps, cold plunges, a steam room and restaurant. They provide you with sandals and towels at your disposal to go into these. The reason I'm leaving a few stars here is just the cleanliness in the bathrooms. It's tough to keep mold out. Especially in a place like this but noticed some mold above the showers and a ton of hair in the showers too. Kind of gross but they are at least constantly cleaning the actual baths and saunas. There's so much space you don't feel crowded and there are a lot more facilities. I really enjoyed my time so much so that I'm gonna make it a monthly thing! Wow, the reviews here are wild. 2.9?! Damn, y'all are savage. I bought tickets for the 1:30 slot because all the early AM spots were filled. You can actually see online how many spots remain for any given hour, so this place is clearly limiting guests. Available spots said like, 6, for Wednesday at every start time. Went yesterday for the 1:30 appointment and was checked in pretty quickly. The place is very zen/wellness, clean, bright, and heavily scented with essential oils and palo santo incense. We were told where to go, and the first spot was the locker room down the hall to the left. For all the reviews saying the locker room was tiny, you'd think it was the size of a closet. It was long, bright, and wide enough to fit lockers, a bench, two full sink set ups with their products, hair dryer, rubber bands, mouthwash, face wash, q-tips, etc. 4 toilets and two showers. There were two baskets, one for discarding used towels another for the sandals. It was also staffed by a worker every time I went back to my locker, I saw two different employees helping with whatever they needed to. The locker mechanism was new to me and I had a small learning curve, but once it was explained, it was a breeze. After getting changed, we walked downstairs to the bath area. Is it as big as Spa Castle? No. Was the size world-ending? Also no. There are three pools, the neutral at 95 degrees, ice pool at 52, and the hot pool at 100-something. The entire ledge in the neutral pool was being used, so my friend and I went to the middle pool which was empty. One toe in explained why. Holy moly, that pool is ICE. There was about 20? MAYBE 25 people down there, maximum. Everyone kept bouncing around between pools and saunas, so there really wasn't any problem getting a spot wherever we wanted to go. I tried all the saunas and that insane steam room, where my lungs immediately disintegrated. I don't know how anyone stays in there longer than 3 minutes. Breathing was not easy, and my first time in, I ran out coughing. Also, some girl decided to sloppily wet fart directly ontop of my head in there. Ladies, PLEASE. Use a bathroom or something instead of blowing fecal air into a steam room, jfc. I enjoyed the tropical sauna best, just for the fact that it had aromatherapy and bird noises, lol. There was definitely no oontz oontz music and no one was having sex, thank God. It was no louder than speaking level noise, and at one point, a guy jumped into the ice pool, prompting him to literally scream, and an employee RAN over to tell him to be quiet, as people were getting massages and they would appreciate him not raising his voice. They were on top of shennanigans yesterday, for sure. There were always employees down there with us. At least 5 all over. Two by the pools, one walking around with the Palo santo sticks, a maintenance guy for the saunas, the massage people, others handling towel clean up and dry towel replenishing and moving sandals so no one would trip. Towels were indeed on the smaller size and a little rough. I didn't have a problem with them, but I can see how larger people would. My friend and I decided to take a break and get lunch and relax. Disappointed to learn robes after no longer given out (thanks to everyone who has stolen them in the past), but we sat with towels in the sun. I ordered the chicken kebab and smashed potatoes, which were both good and a little spicy. What I didn't like in the restaurant was that an auto-gratuity of 20% is added to your bill. I really dislike what tipping-culture has become, and I truly feel when tip is forced on the patron, the employees don't care to do anything really above and beyond, and may take liberties, because they know they're being tipped regardless. Tipping is a bonus for good service, not something you get for no reason, and that's all I'm going to say about that. We stayed from 1:30 to 5pm, and I left truly resembling a raisin. Overall, I would come back! My entire body was wrecked from going to the gym the day before, and today, I have ZERO soreness anywhere. Just poof. Gone. It's difficult to rate the bathhouse with high regards when you've frequent Spa Castle. Yes their two different establishments but I feel spoiled by Spa Castles amenities. Bathhouse has two hot tubs, one cold pool, three stem rooms and dining area. Two of the stem rooms are small and the other is the larger of the three rooms. That's the extent of the spa. Oh and you're required to stay quiet while in the spa area or you'll be asked to leave. I witnessed one of the staff tell a group celebrating a birthday to lower it or leave. tl;dr Bathhouse was overall just not the vibe for me. The space: I went on a weekday morning and thought it would be fairly empty, but it was crowded when I arrived and even more so by the time I left. That's in part because the space is very small -- downstairs there are three tiny pools with different temperatures, right next to each other, in addition to three saunas. At times I couldn't use the pool/sauna I wanted because there were too many people in it, and the whole place was also just very loud. The locker room is also small enough that people were bumping into each other, and the wristbands that open the locker didn't work for me or a few other people there. The services: My massage was very good, and my therapist was not playing around. I also did the hammam scrub, which was a unique experience. My only complaint about either service is that the house music they have playing in the main area is also playing in the rooms, rather than the sort of relaxing music you might expect. In my opinion, they really need to cap the number of people admitted at a given time to make the experience so much better. It would also be great to have a few more basic toiletries like combs in the locker room, and to have robes rather than the multiple small towels that you get. read more

I came here for a bit of relaxation after a night out with my fiancé. This was my second time coming here and both times were amazing and the spy area where the pools and saunas are located. I don't think photos are allowed to be taken down there so I did not take any but you can take my word for it. It is very nice. They are giant marble slabs that you can lay on which are heated to relax your muscles. There are three pools located downstairs. There is a pool that is somewhat lukewarm, followed by a cool pool that is freezing cold and a pool more like a hot tub. I tried all of them except for the cold pool. We also spent some time in the dry sauna and then we finished up in the wet sauna my experience here is always nice The people are friendly and welcoming, and it is just a nice relaxing atmosphere for you to relax, destress unwind and leave your stress and baggage at the door. I went for a massage, I had been holding onto a gift card as I was afraid to use it with all of the rumors going around. The massage therapist was 10 minutes late. I had to ask where he was and they went to get him from the back for me. While I was waiting the staff on the floor were loud and dancing with each other from across the room as if they were beach lifeguards and not spa employees. When I was led to my room my therapist asked if there was anything that needed to be worked on. I left him know I had a bad migraine and he assured me he'd take care of it. The massage starts and he is blasting music, I had to ask him to lower it 3 times. Other than that he did give a really great massage. The roof was lovely, no complaints there. Next , I went to the indoor pools. People were clearly having intimate/ sexual intercourse in the pools. I did not even want to dip my toes in. Than was the aufgaus ceremony which is a guided sauna ritual including music and scents to help you peacefully stay in the sauna for an extended period of time. The instructors cell phone went off and we had to listen to it ring on speaker for a minute. Lastly, after feeling absolutely disgusted, I went to shower before heading home and I opened the curtain to the shower where there were MaSSIVE clumps of hair and weaves on the floor. I used to love bathhouse. It was such a cool intimate space. Unfortunately the hygiene and staff are no longer what they used to be. I rarely ever leave reviews. This crushes me. For future relaxing purposes, I will be going someplace else. I don't know what happened here -- when I first went this past January, the experience was a whole lot better. The pools were cleaner, the food was great, and they even served ice cream. Now? I was able to spend hours just moving between spaces, taking my time, fully off the grid. It's the kind of place that makes you forget you're in the city. I like it. The place is lovely and love the eerie glow of the pools. Sauna, cold plunge, steam room everything you need. Staff are always very nice. Bathrooms clean. My only prob with it is sometimes it gets noisy. I know they say its a social club but everything in your line of vision says chill spa, if it were social Id expect to see a swim up bar or something. So people can get loud and talky and since you cant bring in your phone its hard to drown them out. I will have to figure out what i can bring audio and earbuds wise to bring in with me. I get the no phones. I dont want to end up all over instagram all sweaty and in a bathing suit or freezing in the plunge pool. But if you can suspend that annoyance its really nice and good for getting all the toxins out. The plunge pools give you a new level of respect for those people you see wading out in icy lakes to save an animal that has fallen in. Def a good thing to do in the morning or on your way home from work. I wish it had a salt water pool like the flat iron one. But great to be able to go here when ypu need and the prices arent too crazy. Although I find it confusing how the prices change depending on the hour. read more
