Ten years later, it's time for another review. The fluorescent bulb for my desk lamp burned out recently, and I figured I'd best haul @$$ over here as I couldn't find the same bulb at other stores like Target, didn't want to wait for Amazon to deliver it, and wanted to support a local business. The last time I remember coming here, the store was run by a guy named Dave. I didn't see him when I walked in, but I did see two other employees -- one working in the front as the cashier, and another working in the back. As soon as I started to walk down the aisles to look for the lamp I needed, the one employee in the back saw me, came out, and asked if he could be of any help. I asked if they had the bulb I needed in stock, and indeed they did. He also had no problem with my giving them the old bulb and a few other bulbs for recycling. When I went to the front to pay, I asked the cashier how long the current owners owned the place. I didn't get his name, but he was also really nice and told me that the current ownership has owned it since 2016, and that Dave had gone onto new pastures. Overall, I'm glad I came here. Whenever a place changes ownership, and the previous ownership was really good, you sometimes worry if the new ownership will be able to provide as good or better customer service and run the business just as smoothly as the previous owners did. I've seen places where this has, unfortunately, not been the case. But with Batteries N Bulbs, the new owners are really nice and helpful, so I'm sure the store is in good hands. Plus, like always, they have every bulb and battery imaginable, they will accept your old bulbs (and i think batteries as well) for recycling, and prices aren't too bad either. I know the shop seems small but somehow they manage to squeeze a huge variety of merchandise into the space. They've never let me down. Plus the people are knowledgeable and patient. On a recent visit, Nate recognized an unusual CFL bulb from its base. In like 5 seconds. They accept returns for 14 days and, after that, you can get store credit. Totally fair. I'm amazed they are able to stay in business selling just batteries and bulbs. I don't come here very often, but when I do, they never let me down. Recently I have a few odd shaped fluorescent bulbs, they were able to help me quickly and I also like how they recycled the bulbs as well. Can't imaging going to one of the larger box stores like Home Depot or Lowe's -- probably would have taken forever to find what I was looking for or trying to order this on Amazon -- and being unsure of getting exactly what I need. We had a slim halogen bulb that went out in our bathroom. I wasn't familiar with this bulb at all. Rather than go to Home Depot and hunt for this bulb for 1/2 half an hour by myself, I decided to Yelp! to see if I can find a light bulb. This was an incredible find! As soon as I walked in, Uday (the owner) promptly greeted me and asked if I needed help. He immediately recognized the bulb and got me in and out of the store just like that. I will avoid Batteries N Bulbs. I wanted to purchase a specialty lightbulb, not the kind commonly available in drugstores and supermarkets. So I called Batteries N Bulbs. An employee answered but said he had to put he on hold. I waited for approximately 6 minutes during which there was no sound or recording or an employee asking me to wait longer. Just silence. So I hung up. Then I called a 2nd time and reached an automated voicemail. I left a detailed message with my name, phone, and my question. It is now 24 hours later and Batteries N Bulbs never returned my call. The excessive time on hold followed by no return call in 24 hours is unacceptable customer service. Batteries N Bulbs in Sunnyvale was disrespectful so I will not ever be shopping there again. I did purchase some bulbs at their store a while ago. But it appears they have gone way downhill since then. Never again. I cannot recommend their store. There are 2 other battery and bulb and lighting stores with better customer service on Stevens Creek just south of Lawrence Expressway. read more

I had a bulb for an old address placard that went out years ago and I have been looking for about 2 years and i was referrer to these guys by an electrical wholesaler. I happen to be in the area today and had the bulb with me and i went in and within 2 minutes he had the correct bulb in my hand. I installed it once i got home and it works great. When we remodeled our home, we installed, what we thought, was a really cool ventilation hood above the range. After a couple of years or so of use, the halogen lights burned out and we needed to find replacements. Unfortunately, the type of halogen bulb replacements were not the usual type you'd find at Home Depot, OSH or Lowe's. We searched just about everywhere you would image - and we found this unique little non-descript store located in a strip mall on El Camino Real. Once we entered, a gentleman approached us (I think he might have been the owner) and we described to him what we were looking for. He brought us directly to what we needed and was able to answer the questions we had about our purchase. We were in and out of the store within 30 minutes. So, if you're looking for that one of a kind light bulb or battery, give these guys a call or pay them a visit. Their hours are limited - so make sure you call ahead before going. It's also wise to bring a sample of the item you're looking for - because if they don't have it, I don't doubt that they'll be able to get it for you or tell you where you'd be able to find it. read more

I needed a replacement 6" circular fluorescent bulb (FC6 T9 4-pin) for a ceiling fixture. Stores like Home Depot and Lowe's don't carry these, so it was Yelp-or-bust time. I called Batteries N Bulbs as well as Bay Lighting Supply. Batteries N Bulbs was a little more expensive ($11 vs $7) but had a better selection (both cool white and warm white in stock). Customer service over the phone was excellent--helping me to understand exactly what I needed, and even answering my questions to troubleshoot a buzzing noise from my light fixture. They have a huge light bulb selection and also a variety of rechargeable batteries for wireless handsets, etc. And great prices to boot! I'd come here just to look at the variety of bulbs.
