    You know those hard-to-find batteries or bulbs that are never in stock at the large warehouse chains and are too confusing to purchase online? This place has them. I know the shop seems small but somehow they manage to squeeze a huge variety of merchandise into the space. They've never let me down. Plus the people are knowledgeable and patient. On a recent visit, Nate recognized an unusual CFL bulb from its base. In like 5 seconds. They accept returns for 14 days and, after that, you can get store credit. Totally fair. They'll dispose of your old bulbs and batteries -- don't throw them in the trash. They've been open since 1992 so you know they're treating a lot of people well.

    I can't say enough good things about Doug and Douglas Electric. I had a Zinsco 200A panel that I…read morewanted replaced, as well as additional circuits added to my garage. Doug came out and did a full assessment, went above and beyond with spending the time to answer all of my questions about the process, some of the concerns I had with some existing circuits, and a huge worry I had about my SMUD utility line that was underground (not in a conduit), that he would be removing from the old panel and installing in the new. Once the assessment was complete, he provided me a competitive quote, described the permitting process, and the scheduling windows. I agreed to the contract, and we quickly began the process. In two days SMUD sent their engineer to come by and set up their part of the engagement and once the official scheduled day came Doug was promptly back early in the morning, along with SMUD techs to disconnect my utility so Doug can begin the work. He was very careful, thorough, and once again respectful to my questions (felt bad interrupting him from time to time as he was so deep into the replacement, and he was very kind and happily described where in the process he was and answered my questions). By 3PM the new panel was installed, he called SMUD to return and reconnect my utility service, and the job was complete..... it looked so much better, but more importantly was so much safer. He then scheduled the final inspection, and everything passed with no issues :) Doug then came back out to install the extra circuits in my garage for future tool stations, and all of that work went just as smooth. I can't tell you the stress of not knowing how the job was going to go and how well Doug was able to complete all of it and put my worries at ease. I would recommend Doug for your electrical work, and appreciate all that he and his employees did to make my job go so smooth.

I found a gorgeous Modern Forms linear light that is perfect for the room, and went on my usual online search for the best price. The best price (by far) was at 1StopLighting. This company is new to me, and further research revealed positive experiences from Trustpilot.com and others. Another boon was that the light was "guaranteed" to arrive in 3 days. 3 days! Nice! The light did not arrive in 3 days, so I had to reschedule installation. When we opened the light, there was a dent with scratches on the edge of the light. The light was packaged in styrofoam, which seemed undisturbed, so I think the light must have been damaged before it was boxed up and shipped. While I was originally able to call customer service and discuss the delivery of my light, 1StopLighting has now stopped manning their phone. When I called to discuss replacement options, I was directed to their chat. I haven't been able to find a way to choose to talk to a person since. However, I did get Johanna on the chat to help me with a replacement. Johanna is wonderful. She understood the problem and what to do. When we were disconnected because the chat timed out, she called me on my mobile to explain the process and reassure me that delivery of a replacement and a return label were on their way. I was a bit skeptical because there was no real way to track what was happening, but I had Johanna's name and phone #. Several weeks later, after returning the damaged light, I still did not have my replacement, nor a tracking #. This time, contacting someone was much more difficult. I did manage to engage in an email exchange with someone who provided me with a tracking number. The light had never been picked up according to the delivery company and tracking information. Neither the freight company nor 1StopLighting chat knew where my package was. With probably too much effort on my part, I did get Johanna on the chat once again, and she called me. She got the process moving. My light arrived in 2 days! Thank goodness for Johanna. 1StopLighting has a very large selection of nice lighting at great prices. I appreciate their return policy, which they honored without question. Clearly, however, I ran into several snags. I recommend to 1StopLighting that they make available once again the ability for a customer to call a customer service representative. Some situations cannot practically be dealt with via chat. Johanna is the star of my story. Because Johanna was so responsive, I will likely visit 1StopLighting again.

Her cell number is 916-705-3980. The listed number is for her husband's separate business (vintage advertising signs) operated from the same address. If you are seeking a lighting repair it's best to send her a text with a photo. I contacted her last week about my pharmacy lamp thinking that it was flickering because of a wiring issue. She took one look at my photo and said it was more likely to be the switch. She gave me a reasonable estimate to repair it and we made an appointment for 10 AM this morning. She had it ready in perhaps 20 minutes - she recommended I remain during the repair to avoid having to make a separate trip to pick it up. It's gratifying in this throwaway world to find knowledgeable repair people to restore valued items to use at a fair price. She was also careful to advise me in advance that she does not take credit cards.

Tina likes to randomly delete text messages from less than a week ago and then act confused and annoyed when you follow up a few days later, as though I was the one who deleted all the context of our conversation instead of her. You see, Tina is an unfortunate combination of mean and stupid. She lacks reading comprehension but still insists on only communicating via text, and then she will misunderstand what you wrote and get rude about it. I had two lamps needing repair. I initially contacted her about a floor lamp, a modern bridge lamp with a broken connector. She told me that part was not able to be replaced but she could sell me an antique bridge lamp base to use with my stained glass shade. I was disappointed and unsure if I wanted to do that or not, so I asked for photos. She sent over very poor photos that did not show the base in its entirety. I responded that I wasn't sure how it would all look together because I couldn't see the whole thing at once, and she cut the conversation short. Whatever, I wasn't sure what to do and I got busy so I didn't respond back right away. Four days later, I decided I should probably just buy the base, so I sent a message asking if the base was still available. I also asked if there was any way she could help with another lamp that I nearly finished putting back together, but there were a few parts that I could not quite figure out where they had gone before. Being a lamp repair business, I thought this was a reasonable request, but apparently I was wrong. I've attached those messages in their entirety. Don't even bother trying to work with these people. They will shame you for asking about lamp repair and make everything about how much money they can earn.

If these are your 'representatives' that are coming out for your company, you have big problems coming your way! The 'representative' as well as someone else who claimed to be in training and would be 'managing' the area we reside in arrived and this guy was some talker! He talked/presented so fast, immediately I became leery. Requested a business card and he stated he didn't have any (only digital). Gave us a price and stated 'if we acted by 06.19.2026, he'd knock off $200'. After this person 'measured' the property, he presented just the front of the house and when questioned about the rest, he stated they would present the entire house as to where the lights would be while others that came over presented our entire house and showed us exactly what locations would be installed. Lastly, I wanted to know when to expect the contract for us to review and was informed they do not send out a contract, only a proposal. So I requested him to submit a proposal, but wanted a breakdown of how he got to the total, etc. He informed me that he would text' it to me later that afternoon. Haven't heard from him since. Not only was this whole 'presentation' weird, but very sketchy to say the least. I find it interesting that on your website, you only portray your 5 star ratings, interesting......

About a week ago, one of them stopped working and I thought the switch went bad. I called Casella and asked where I needed to bring the lamp to have it fixed. They scheduled an appointment to send Chuck Bird out to my house (!) since he was going to be in the neighborhood. Turns out Chuck is one of the owners of the business that his dad and Mr. Casella started many years ago. He fixed the lamp in 5 minutes (minor oxidation around the connections to the halogen bulb, no broken switch) AND HE REFUSED TO CHARGE ME A DIME. Said I bought a quality lamp and this kind of service should be expected. If every manufacturer made products like this and stood behind them like Casella does, the world would be a better place. Never thought I'd be writing a review for a lighting place, but I haven't been surprised in a good way by a store or company in a long time. The address I've listed here is their SF showroom at William Switzer & Associates. They also sell lighting through John Wheatman & Associates on Union Street, which is where we bought ours. (I can't say enough about John & Assoc., either.) By the way, I think they make all their stuff in Sacramento. So locally made, quality stuff, excellent service and a long-time CA family business. They have a customer for life!
