This place is SO awesome IMO. My husband had an iPhone 6 (yeah, I know, right....trust me, it's an upgrade from the old flip phone!) and every time he tried to FaceTime me, his battery would die. He'd have to charge his phone daily, and if he used any features other than standard calling, the battery died within a few minutes. I took it to Batteries Plus Bulbs ~ actually ~ I went online and made and appointment for the following day to drop it off to have the battery replaced. They emailed me a $10 coupon. It was $60 to replace the battery, not including the coupon. I dropped it off at my appointment time, was in and out of there in minutes, and an hour later, picked up a fully charged, fully functioning phone (didn't lose any info!) with a brand new battery! My husband was SO pleased! Then, a few days ago, my son - 12 yo - and thinks he knows EVERYTHING ~ was playing w/ a friend and shattered the screen on his phone. He had the false impression that the screen protector does it's job when you throw your phone on the ground, even the grass (HELLO ROCK?). He was crushed. His phone is his LIFE. Not to mention spring break is coming up next week and we're taking a road trip; that phone was even more important. Well, being the MEAN mom I am, or the SMART mom I am, depending on your opinion (which I don't really care about), my son earns extra money doing yard work, raking, mowing, etc....for people in the neighborhood...and I know he has PLENTY to pay for fixing his own phone. My husband and I usually go halfsies on things the kids want that are "extra things" - but I really wanted my son to learn a lesson about throwing his phone around carelessly, and the value of a dollar! So he comes in my bedroom with his broken phone, and tells me his plan...take it to Batteries Plus Bulbs, make an online appointment, get a $10 coupon, it's $99 to replace the screen and takes 2 hours max. Funny; when I heard he broke his phone, the first thing I thought was taking it to Batteries Plus Bulbs. But my son already had the plan in place, and was ready for me to go online and make the appointment. UNTIL....I said, "you're paying for this, right?" BLANK STARE. Realization sets in. Mom & Dad aren't bailing him out. Natural consequences. $100!!!!! I'm sure all those things were streaming through his brain in the three seconds it took him to say, "yes, I'm paying for it." So I made the appointment the following day online, dropped off the phone, again was in and out in minutes, and the phone was done in an hour. Again, no data loss. There's one thing I REALLY like about this place that other repair places don't do. They check out the WHOLE phone when they work on it. They check the battery life, they check the charging port, they make sure you're not going to have other issues with your phone that need to be addressed or that you need to be aware of. Wow, what's with all the negative reviews for this place? I've been in here a few different times, and have never had a bad experience. I stopped in today to pick up a 4-A battery that I couldn't find at Target, and other than the fact that I had to wait in line for a longer time than I would have liked, I found exactly what I needed and was in and out in less than 10 minutes. I'd say if anything, they might need to have one more person on staff for busy times, but I've never encountered any problems like others are describing. They not only sell batteries and bulbs, but also have done light repairs on battery operated items, like a beard trimmer that I wasn't ready to part with yet! Their lifetime watch battery replacement deal alone makes them worth checking out. Don't be dissuaded by the negative reviews. Worst customer service EVER experienced at a franchised retail store. This review may be long, but vital for those who value customer service, particularly regarding warranties. There is a reason this business has a 2-star average here on Yelp. One day I come to discover my motorcycle battery is dead, even though it had been ridden a few days prior. I had purchased the battery almost a year ago at this location and it came with 1 year warranty. I recalled it was from November, but I mistakenly forgot that I had bought it at end of October last year, just had delayed installing it for a few weeks. So now, once I notice the receipt date of purchase and that I am 4 days past warranty period, and battery is completely dead, I immediately call the store to speak with the manager. Figured I'd inquire to see if they'll kindly still honor it, since I knew this was their in-house brand battery, (they are the only ones who sell it) so they VERY likely could do so. Come to hear that the manager is on vacation, and that there is an assistant manager covering for him. I leave messages requesting to speak with him since he's often out on deliveries. I then also call the corporate home office, who offers VERY good customer service and earnestly wants to help me. They hear my story and agree that yes, it IS reasonable to request warranty service given my situation and being only 4 days past, but that each store is individually franchise-owned. So, they say that it will be up to the discretion of this particular store manager. The corporate office customer service dept actually calls the store manager FOR ME to request that they give me consideration and honor the warranty. Days go by, I receive no call back. I start calling hoping to speak to assistant manager. He's never there and he continually fails to return my calls or the several messages I leave. Then the amazing part happens - corporate office customer service starts calling me and checking in on me to see if they have contacted me. Corporate tells me that they TOO have been calling and leaving messages asking them to contact me. Then they tell me that they will try emailing the store. After another of my many calls, probably about 10 total, I learn that the store manager has finally returned from vacation. I figure maybe the assistant manager was overwhelmed with duties or was flakey, but at least now I will be able to speak to the actual manager. Then the actual manager doesn't return my calls, and again, I call at least twice a day trying to catch him. Finally I go into the store and luckily the manager is there. After a full week of both myself AND Batteries+Bulbs home office trying to elicit some sort of response from this store's management, finally I am face to face with the manager. He looks at the battery and says nope, sorry. I explain how for 10 days I've been trying to get a response from them and no one will answer. For 10 days I have not had my transportation since there's no working battery and I am on hold until they can speak to me. Manager says, sorry, this is past warranty, there's nothing I can do. Clearly they could have honored the warranty, even the corporate office confirmed for me that they could. I have bought several things from Batteries+Bulbs locations over the years, but this particular store is has pretty much nonexistent customer service. Seek out any other location of Batteries+Bulbs, but I recommend staying far away from this one. read more

Bought a Duracell battery with 4 year warranty and it went bad in 2 years.I check the voltage before i left the house and it was at 11.8 volts. They checked at the Shawnee store and said it was 0 volts. When i contested him he admitted he did not have the volt meter set right .So I took the battery to the Olathe store .There it had 11.8 volts and they were going to Warranty it until the manager from the Shawnee Store called and made them cancel it .Saying i neglected the battery.The Shawnee store tried trick me into thinking the battery was a zero volts.When he got caught trying to cheat me he used another excuse to deny the Warranty and called another store to make sure i did not the battery Warrantied.I wonder how many people were denied warranty by this trick. read more

I called in to ask if they could program a key fob. They told me to call a different store all the way across the city. I did, and they said they could do it. I went in, and they refused to program the key fob because I didn't buy it there. What kind of brain dead policy is that? Now the customer is pissed, and they lost out on easy money. The key fob is identical to what they sell, so it's not like it's a technical problem. And apparently their employees don't know about this brain dead policy. If I could give zero stars, I would. This place is an absolute NIGHTMARE. If you're thinking about bringing your phone here for a repair, save yourself some time and money and just beat your phone to death with a brick, it'll be more effective and satisfying than taking it to the Shawnee Batteries Plus Bulbs. Here's what I went through with these rude, unprofessional, misogynistic con-men: It was Sunday morning, I needed a new battery for my iPhone 6, and I needed it replaced before I left town at 4pm, same day. They scheduled me for 10:30, I arrived early, when they opened. Shawn/Sean took my phone, said he'd have to replace the screen too, I was fine with that (they let me use multiple coupons, which is the only decent thing they did). I left, came back when he said he'd be done, and he wasn't. He, and the other employees, were busy being patient and kind to every old man that walked through the door. Meanwhile, every question I asked was answered with an eye-roll and impatient tone of voice. I waited an extra 30 minutes, got my phone, paid and left. About an hour later, my phone began doing crazy things, operating itself. Opening various apps, making selections, flipping back and forth between screens, as though it was being controlled remotely. I left town, turned my phone completely off for my flight, hoping that maybe that would reset whatever was out-of-whack. It didn't. A friend said that when she had screen replacement, the same thing happened, caused by the new screen being installed too tightly (I don't know about the accuracy of her claim), so I called this location (where the work was done), they said to bring it back in when I was back in town. So I managed with a dysfunctional phone for a week, took it back to them, and was treated hella rudely by the employee working when I brought it back. They replaced the screen, and for a couple hours everything was fine. I was happy that I wouldn't have to see any of these rude men again. THEN, I was charging the phone, went to take it off the charger, and the screen wouldn't activate at all. Black screen. My phone rang, text alerts came through, but the screen wouldn't come on, wouldn't light up at all. I took it back YET AGAIN. I got to the store 10 minutes before they closed, and was treated even more rudely by the employee (started with a D, Dane or Dave, middle-aged man in thick black glasses). I told him I would call the manager, or the owner, he told me that he didn't care. He flat out said that, "So? I don't care.", what employee does that? How is that even anywhere on the acceptable scale of customer service? I explained that I am a caretaker for a woman with Alzheimer's, and that I needed to always be reachable, for her safety, and he was no more compassionate or concerned than a rock. I left, and went to an Apple store, where I should've gone in the first place, and they took far better care of me than these jerks (who, btw, Apple said sold me a "BOGUS AS HELL" battery, direct quote), who took my money and gave me nothing in exchange but headaches, hassles, and disrespect. read more

I'd heard good things about Batteries Plus; suffice to say, they weren't true. I wanted a backup battery and battery charger for my cell phone, and it's a fairly common phone (especially with the Sprint store across the street). Unfortunately, the gentleman behind the counter hadn't seemed to have heard of my phone before (really? Galaxy S2? Samsung? Epic? Anything ring a bell???). That's not even the worst of it. He found a battery (obviously not the right one) and began to try to JAM it in my phone, repeatedly. He wasn't within reach, so instead of grabbing it, I asked him not to shove the battery in the phone. He told me that sometimes the paper on the battery (huh?) makes it take some work. The battery was CLEARLY too large for the opening, yet he STILL kept trying to shove it in. I again asked him to STOP. He finally did, and I grabbed my phone out of his hands (which I was going to do anyway at this point). He did find the right sized battery, but at this point, I'm thinking Amazon was the way to go in this case. He was rude, and did his best to break my phone. Yes, I was TICKED. He was rude from the beginning (and I had been in a great mood beforehand) and I turned around and left. Another employee offered his assistance if I wanted to come back. Although I appreciated his offer, that won't be happening. I prefer to shop brick and mortar stores, and actually prefer local, but I'll be hitting online after his experience, and it won't be on their website. Still in a great mood, but it'll be on my doorstep tomorrow morning, cheaper and without the bad attitude or a broken phone. -------------Edited to add----------- In response to the owner's comment below: While I appreciate the owner's comment, you did not directly address any of my issues or contact me directly. Are employees still being allowed to try to break customers' phones? Are they still being rude to customers? Attempting to ruin my phone is beyond what is acceptable service. Rudeness is beyond what is tolerated as well. I have spoken to others since this experience, and they have also had similar experiences. Every time I call to see if they have a screen cover in stock I get a different answer.

I needed four specialty batteries and I was happy they had them, and at a reasonable price. I went ahead and took advantage of the larger multi packs they had and saved a bit more per battery. They seem to have what you would need, so I have comfort in knowing when some of my other gizmos go dead, I just have a short jaunt down the road to power them back up. Customer service was just okay, and there was a bit of a wait for someone to come out from the back office. Keeping a constant eye on the front and a bit more welcoming attitude from the staff would be my suggestion to the owners. read more

They don't stand behind their products. Most lead acid batteries have a 3 year warranty. There's has only a 6 month warranty. The lawn mower battery purchased from there did not last very long and they would not stand behind it.. read more

Just left this location. Was looking to buy a battery for my key fob to fix an issue with the unlock button. After answering a few quick questions, they diagnosed and shimmed the contacts on my vehicles key fob for free. Works great now. Took about 5 minutes. Great service! read more

I called the Shawnee store on 67th to see if the battery in my Samsung Galaxy s6 could be replaced while I wait. The man I spoke to said it would be $59.95 and I could wait for it. When I arrived, the man behind the counter said the price was correct but I couldn't wait for it because it took an hour and there were others ahead of me. I asked him why he told me on the phone that I could wait and he just shrugged his shoulders. I have never been treated this rude at this store before. It is doubtful I will return. read more

Very unsatisfied! Galaxy S7 battery replacement. Called ahead and was told it would take 30-45 min. Once I got there, I was informed it would be at least an hour. I was warned that there may be discoloration due to the process of removing the glass to change out the battery. I acknoleged this. I was not however told that the glass would be all chipped to hell when I got it back. My favorite part was the employee that wasn't even assiting me, telling me that he warned me that it could happen and that I acknoleged it. Telling me what I know I wasn't told had me seeing red. I watched a do-it-yourself video about changing it out and surprisingly, they didn't chip the paint. Update: I was contacted by the manager of this store. He appologized for the damage and the service and promised me a new back panel for my phone. He followed through on his promise and my phone now looks like it did before the damage was done. Horrible and rude Customer Service(If you want to call them that). In fact the worst I've ever dealt with. Looking for a simple battery, all they had in stock was their "house" brand Nuon. Reviews all over the internet say Nuon is very bad, doesn't last, the worst battery, etc. I advised the so called sales person I only wanted name brand he said they don't have any and won't be getting any in soon?!?! I asked him if he could call another Batteries + to see if they have any in stock. He refused and said he wouldn't. I was stunned and asked him again and with a chuckle he said no he wouldn't. The store had 3 reps working and only one other customer in the store. It's not like they had anything better to do. I left and went next door to home depot. Same battery in a two pack in name brand and was the EXACT same price as the generic brand at Batteries +!!!!!!!!! So again to sum it up! Rude and lazy worker, over priced generic battery and an overall bad experience at this location. AS far as I'm concerned I will never spend a dime at this store again and recommend everyone else to go elsewhere!!! read more

Wow!!! That was the worst place! Do NOT go there! I tried calling first and was put on hold for 10 minutes. It eventually just rolled back to the main number and the same guy answered. He had completely forgotten I was on hold. I told him exactly what phone I had and he couldn't spell G'zOne Commando. I looked it up for him on Verizon and told him exactly what kind of battery I needed, and told me that wasn't a battery it was a lightbulb!!!! I eventually gave up and drove out there to be ignored in person. I saw that he was rude and arrogant to all of the customers, not just me.
