I've had slow and struggling car starts since sunday, and my battery finally went dead this morning when I was going to head to work. I took my battery out and brought it in for a replacement. Initially I got a wrong battery size, it was the replacement for what I had which wasn't produced anymore but didn't fit dimensionally within my car. I hadn't mentioned my car though, only the old battery size # I was bringing in. Owner was very understanding, told me to jump it with the mis-sized battery, and I drove it over to the shop to get the size I needed. No extra charge at all for the install, and I even got money back for the new battery being cheaper. Will definitely remember this place. read more

Battery stopped working in 3-4 years. Called to learn about warranty, very rude customer service.

Previously had my other car's battery replaced at Battery Mart and it was a quick and friendly service. Came in today when another car's battery appeared to have failed, but the owner was honest and told me the battery was just fine, but it was my car's alternator that had failed. He prevented me from wasting $ on a new battery I didn't need, even though that meant the loss of a sale for him, as I had to go elsewhere to a mechanic to get the alternator replaced. Buyer beware. I purchased a "Battery Mart" battery for my 2015 Ford Transit Connect Titanium. My original battery was over 4 years old, and after leaving the car parked for 5 day, it was turning over very slowly. I paid $99 for replacement battery and another $100 for the installation - so about $209 with tax. I'm a retiree and drive part time for UBER 3-4 mornings a week. The Battery Mart battery never fully felt charged, and I had to call AAA to jump-start me before I purchased a portable jumper battery(AAA only gives you a limited amount of jumps). I called Don(the owner of Battery Mart less than a week after buying his battery. He claimed his battery eas fine, even though I had my mechanic check my car and test the battery(load test, etc.). After a few more days of my car barely starting and days of my car's computer wigging out, I finally told him I'd happily pay for the more expensive, INTERSTATE battery he is a dealer for. I agreed to pay the additional $69 - $15 of wcich were for a "core" trade in, even though I had originally given him my old battery! I also waited for the Interstate battery to be switched out, which took no more than 20 minutes - which means his original charge of $100 to switch out my battery amounted to being charged about $300 an hour for that installation. And the icing on the cake - the original replacement battery was a basic, sealed, no maintenance battery. The replacement INTERSTATE battery was an old school lead/acid type battery that you gave to keep checking the water levels on. Who knew these were even manufactured anymore? So that's my experience with Battery Mart in Costa Mesa, and that's why I say, "BUYER BEWARE". read more

Went to Battery Mart Inc. Off of Victoria and Newport BLVD this morning to get scooter batteries. The owner was very nice and let me know it was just bad connections. The batteries were free. He tightened the connections for free and let me charge the batteries for 45 min so I could use my scooter while I run errands today. We originally bought the batteries from them. They also had good customer service the first time we went 10 months ago. Highly recommend. Family owned. read more

I got the battery I needed at a fair price. The owner had and has the worse customer service skills I've ever experienced. I worked in the retail business for 20 years and run a business that deals with new clients daily......this guy is horrible. I asked him about the warranty and he said he didn't know.....I told him it was 4 years for the Odyssey Extreme batteries (over $400 btw). He began to explain that "if this and if that" the warranty would be voided. I've used batteries for my boats for over 40 years and know how to take proper care of them. Indeed they deserve the five star! I was going to buy a battery with three year warranty from Costco, trusting that it's the best price. Just as I was wondering how I could find a parking space on a Friday in front of Costco and let my car run while I go inside and buy the battery a friend called and told me about the battery Mart. Finally found a parking space and gave them a call and found out that I can buy the same battery at least $21 cheaper with no installation fee and a five year warranty. I called this guy to ask him if he can recharge deep cycle batteries which I plan to purchase. During our conversation it came up that I plan to buy from Amazon. He got an attitude that why am I calling him, a small business owner with questions if I buy from Amazon, because he charges only five dollars for a recharge. I told him I do not care if he charges twenty, I'll pay whatever is the cost, saying I am missing his point. Well, I did not, except the only point he missed is four stars to the one star I gave. Best deserved yelp review I have ever written. Came in today because my battery was totally dead and corroded, got a jumpstart and then brought the car to the garage but lo and behold the terminal was corroded and the gentleman could not get the terminal off my battery. He literally had to take a Dremel and remove the terminal, as you can see by sparks in the picture. It took him 45 minutes and at the end of it and he didn't even complain. They went above and beyond for what I should have paid. And they were almost half of what AAA was. Needless to say I will forever get my batteries at Battery Mart! read more

My wife had a low battery while she was visiting our daughter at the beach and I told her to go the nearest Battery Mart since the battery was less than 12 months old and was purchased at our local Battery Mart with a free replacement for 24 months. They charged her $108.70 for a new battery. Completely ripped her off. They are dishonest and took advantage of a woman. Shame on them. Stay away from this business. read more

This is an outstanding and reputable business. I worked with Don on getting a new battery. Prices are very reasonable, and they offer a 5 year warranty. I have not seen that warranty at any auto parts stores or even off the AAA truck. Don was friendly and very helpful. He tested my old battery, removed and replaced it in about 5-10 minutes. My experience could not have been better. Only thing to keep in mind is they do close at 5pm instead of 6pm during the winter months. read more

Just brought my IS 250 in to Battery Mart yesterday. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the entire transaction. We were in & out within 10 minutes. I pulled right into the bay and didn't even have to leave my car until I settled the bill. I should also note that the bay itself was exceptionally clean and well-organized, showing off the batteries offered in a pleasing manner. With tax, I spent $97 for one of Battery Mart's proprietary batteries, which I would consider to be an excellent deal. We did bring my other half's car in later in the day. However, as his car requires additional labor to actually reach the battery, Battery Mart was unable to assist with that. However, as that battery situation is exceptional, I would still highly recommend Battery Mart for most standard battery needs. read more
