*I live in Oregon, not Cali* I highly do NOT recommend this place. I got my battery last year in June, and just recently found out my alternator is dead and so is the battery. It would not hold a charge and I had 3 mechanics tell me the battery was toast (and leaking) and that I needed a new one. I figured the warranty would still be an option so I brought it back to them only for them to say it just needed a 24 hour charge. They also told us that alternators don't charge the battery, which was one of the most stupid things I think I have ever heard. Honestly, I don't think you should be working at a battery shop if you don't know what the alternator does. Ultimately, I ended up having to buy a new battery from Costco because my car needed to be moved and they would not honor my warranty to give me a new one. I am now down $160 because of my new battery, have my toasted battery that supposedly charged "just fine" and "isn't leaking at all!" and shit out of luck. Again, I would not recommend getting a battery from a place that doesn't even know what an alternator does for your battery/car. read more

My vehicle has a 7 year old battery. I pulled the terminals to do some cleaning and then noticed the charging system seemed to be having an issue keeping it running at idle. The technicians ran a charging test as well as three load tests on the battery and determined that it did not need to be replaced. They also tested fluids in every cel and cleaned and reset the terminals. Since time and breakdowns are a concern of mine, I was very willing to purchase a new battery. HOWEVER, I deferred to the professionals who, after fully testing it stated that the battery was fully functional. I have purchased several batteries as well as a battery tender from Battery X-Change. They provide excellent service, advice and are very competitive on pricing. I will tell anyone that listens to support Battery X-Change! read more

I have purchased 7 different batteries from the Oregon City location over the past 4 years. All the batteries were $160 to $250. The crew has always been nice and helpful. However, today my wife took my Mini Cooper up there and the guy was visibly frustrated, because he could not find the hood latch to open the hood. Then was irritated that the cables were "too short". Like she had control of the factory cables. When she apologized for not knowing where the hood latch was, he was rude by not responding to her when she spoke to him. The nonresponses continued till she paid. Even then she said "Thank you" and of course no response. Not sure why he had such a problem today, but if he is working next time, we will not do business with Battery X-Change. I will go back to Battery Factory. read more

The battery in my car had drained twice in the last three weeks. I drove to Battery X-Change in Oregon City, ready to buy a new battery. They tested the battery and let me know that it tested OK and that the problem might be some sort of battery drain (e.g. light left on) when the car is parked. I shouldn't be amazed when a business has great service even when they DON'T sell you anything, but it's nice to know that honest people can still be found. I'll definitely be heading to Battery X-Change in Oregon City the next time I actually do need a new car battery! read more

Went in after a dealership said failed battery test. Turns out they tested on a dirty terminal. In fact it didn't fail after cleaning the terminal. It was strange because it would start fine before, but this place solved the conflict with clear answers. So yeah, get your batteries here. read more

I've always heard that to get your car prepared for winter you should check your battery as well as coolant levels, etc. Now I understand why. When the temperature drops, it takes more cranking amps to get your vehicle started. I learned this the hard way last week. After scraping my windshield one extra frosty morning, I jumped in my older Toyota only to find I had no power at all. Nothing, nada, zilch. Fortunately work is not too far from home so I caught the next bus zipping by the house. At the end of the day, I walked home in the bright sunshine. Just for the heck of it, I decided to try to start my car. Sure enough, it turned right over. Aha! Problem diagnosed. Of course, it also made sense when I discovered my 5-year battery had been purchased 58 months ago. I did a little research online and called several businesses in the area who sell auto batteries. The Battery Exchange was competitive and convenient, and because I try to support local enterprises, I chose them. Jim was super! He tested my battery first to make sure that was the problem and then replaced it with a new one....all in about 15 minutes. I needed two new starter batteries for my Motorhome. The battery price was within a few dollars of other businesses I called. The difference in cost was $30 to $40 installation fee others wanted. No installation charge here. I also have three (3) house batteries and asked TREVOR if he would check those. He not only tested those batteries he pulled all the cables off and cleaned everything thoroughly (no small task for heavy duty motorhome cables and batteries). Hats off to Trevor for 5 star service. I will not be buying any more batteries from this company again. starting on May 4th 2013 I purchased a motorcycle battery and it only lasted 5 months. As it was out of warranty I purchased a new one with no discount. Then the second one lasted 7 months. I was 70 miles away from home when this battery died. It took all day to go home, get a trailer and go back for my bike to bring it to my dealer. The motorcycle dealer determined the battery was dead. No other issues including the bikes charging system were at fault. I had them install a new battery. When I asked Battery X-Change about what they could do for me, it went well over a week, and I finally had to call them. They had wanted to keep the battery over night to test it, and get back to me. When I finally called them, I was only offered a slight discount on another, what I believe is another inferior battery from Battery Exchange. This does not help me nor give me any confidence in this company any longer. They seemed very indifferent to my problems, and all the hassles I had to go through, stuck on a highway, far from home. I want to give a shout out to Trevor and Evan! My car completely lost manual transmission in front of their location during 5:00 p.m. traffic. They both came out and pushed my car out of traffic and around the corner. When the mexican restaurant next door wouldn't let me leave my car there where it was, Trevor and Evan pushed my car AGAIN to a location on their lot so that my husband could then come get the car.
