We came here (finally!) for my hubbys birthday celebration :) I've been looking for a good reason to finally try this place out for the first time, and this was it! I wanted him to feel special and have a high quality meal versus an AYCE steak option we tend to book yearly for his birthday. I loved the location. Parking was PLENTIFUL, and no annoying garage or complicated entrance! I have to say I don't really understand the point of a valet service here, though. I mean, if you wanted to park and walk a dozen less steps that would probably be the only valid excuse. I've driven by this location so many times and I've always wondered if it's a Tiffany and Co. Something about the colors. But honestly, the colors are classy and perfect so props! Our table was ready 15 minutes early. The entrance to the restaurant was really impressive and large. My husband said that it reminded him of a nice restaurant in New York City. It definitely gives the vibes that I was hoping for a celebration. We had incredible servers throughout our whole experience. The bread basket was actually so delicious and the butter came with flaky salt. Immediately the way to my heart. Soufaine is an absolute gem!!! we were having a hard time picking a good red dry wine to go with our intended entrée, and he really went above and beyond to make sure that my husband loved not liked his option he picked. He liked the reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and I liked my Malbec. It was tough to resist the cocktails though, I'll def have to try those next time. I really love the special touches that they do for Events. The confetti on the table, the handwritten note, and the fresh long stem rose are so above and beyond. We were actually very hungry so we just opted to go directly to entrées. I ordered the bone in ribeye because I like a fattier cut, and I decided to try the Oscar style with lump crab. My husband got the bone in Porter house. Steaks here are actually cooked exactly as you order it. Nothing was overcooked. We decided to split the lobster mac & cheese, and the truffle fries. I think the lobster mac & cheese might be the best I've ever tasted. The noodles were not overcooked. The lobster chunks were present, and the cheese sauce was full of flavor and absolutely not lacking. The Oscar style was very interesting. Certainly had a lot of crab meat which I absolutely love, but I don't know what I was expecting necessarily. It came with a heavy hollandaise and I wish I would've asked for a description before committing to it. We devoured our steaks and still had a whole meal left to take home! This was a really nice aspect because it was not the most budget friendly meal, but the fact that we were able to enjoy it for two separate dinners definitely made it feel like a better bang for the buck. Lastly, the server brought out a complementary dessert for the celebration. My husband loved the crème brûlée cheesecake and I really loved all of the fresh berries! All in all, it was a very elevated dining experience. They pulled out all the stops and they really understand customer service because they were always checking in on us and always making sure that we were completely happy. I love this place. It's a classic steakhouse through and through, but somehow it never feels cookie cutter the way a lot of them do. There's just something about it that sets it apart. The ribeye is my go-to cut, and Capital Grille never disappoints. Perfectly cooked every time, exactly what you want when you're craving a great steak. And don't sleep on the sides, the au gratin potatoes and creamed corn are always solid hits. The atmosphere is a big part of the draw too. We opted for Capital Grille in Fairfax as I have never been there and wanted to try the place. We have no regrets! They started restaurant week yesterday, and consequently, the place was fairly busy when we arrived at 7:30. The "restaurant week" menu we thought was a very good deal for $65. It offered you a choice of two different salads, a cup of soup for a starter, several entrées, including an 8 ounce filet mignon, salmon, and a chicken dish. It came with two sides, a delicious creamed, spinach, and some of the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. Desserts were either a small cheesecake, or a decadent chocolate cake. They offered a $12 upgrade to a 10 ounce filet mignon sliced with wild mushrooms and a fig essence. I opted for this while my family went with a standard 8 ounce filet mignon. Although it was delicious, I was envious of the simple filet as mine was a little too sweet for my taste. The bread and rolls were delicious too. A small splurge was an order of Tuna Tartare--$24. It was wonderful. The attention to detail, the friendly staff, beautiful ambience with soft music, and once the crowd thinned out, it was a wonderful environment. The wines were fairly priced and until August 30, Duckhorn vineyards is celebrating their 50 year anniversary and offered a flight of six different wines for a $38 add-on to your meal. We opted for one of those flight flights and the pores were very generous and we all got to sample some delicious Duckhorn wine. We got a special treat by being invited to take a look at the meat locker, and that was very impressive!! The head chef explained the various cuts in the dry aging room. They have some beautiful beef in that room!!! So in closing, I certainly look forward to trying some of the other suggestions, but will highly recommend capital Grille to anyone looking for a superb experience! read more

Plain and simple - we had a reservation for 10 pm. Called and asked specifically if it was okay around 7 pm. "Yes" they said- Fully reassured us we had ability to order food and sit down at 10. 10:01 we arrive to locked doors. (After even a 2nd phone call saying we'd be 5 mins late) two employees standing outside watching me and my date awkwardly trying to open the door confused as hell? I said "well this bitch said we were good 4 good hours ago so this is crazy" Me cursing in my sentence initiated the employees saying ANYthing to us at all. & me cursing meant they now wouldn't serve us. Apparently they were "waiting on us." Soooo Why did they not approach the door to unlock it when we walked up then....? Or say anything to us while we're unable to get in? 5 star service is NOT making ur customers feel stupid and confused for arriving at the time of their reservation Considering the prices we were about to pay, this is NOT the service we expected. To say the least. never in my life have I walked to locked doors a minute after confirming my reservation twice .... I went to the car. & my man calmly reiterated "we did have a 10 pm reservation." And they said to leave before they call the cops .. extremely dramatic . They clearly did not intend on seating us. Went in for lunch on a whim. It was busy but not surprising for a Friday. The server Sean was probably the most attentive server I'd ever had. I got a bowl of French onions soup which was delicious. Second only to Morton's in my opinion. They had a special of 8 ounce sliced filet with mushrooms onions and fig essence for 44 which I chose for my entree. The filet itself was fantastic and the mushrooms and onions were a good compliment to the beef. It also came with a side of which I chose the mashed potato's. The potatoes were good but a little too runny. Still a very minor issue. Consistently the best fine dining restaurant I know and I've never been disappointed in a meal as a whole. I have been living in this neighborhood for almost 4 years and recently was my first time visiting. It will not be my last. My neighbor and I decided to stop in for lunch after doing some shopping. This is one of those places where the service shines. Our server, Sean/Shawn, was the best! He was friendly, attentive, and conversational. It's a pretty big space that it good for larger groups and it seemed like most people were there celebrating something. Honestly, the food is good but nothing spectacular in my opinion. The calamari was nice and crispy, and the peppers were a good touch because they added the heat and acidicity to break up the fried flavor. The parmesan truffle fries were a crowd pleaser. The truffle flavor wasn't overpowering and they came out hot. For my entree, I ordered the roasted chicken breast with a mushroom parmesan risotto. This was delicious and came with two pieces of chicken, which was a pleasant surprise. The risotto was a good complement, the chicken was perfectly cooked, and the serving was large enough for another meal. Ate here in early August 2026 for a business meal. Easily the worst Capital Grille I've been to. Calamari was basically microwaved, the wedge salad has been ruined by using the lowest quality ingredients with two giant strips of "candied" bacon that can't even be cut with a steak knife, and my 10 oz filet that I ordered medium rare came out well done. Moreover, the overall "modern" ambience in this new building is akin to a TGI Friday's and not a classic Capital Grille. When I complained and sent back the poor quality food, noting my experience on an at least monthly basis with other Capital Grille's across the country was not like this, I was told it was just a result of "corporate." We each ordered the Jarlsberg Swiss & mushroom Wagyu burger and the irresistible Truffle Fries along with the crisp house-made potato chips. Our red wine perfectly enhanced the meal. We really enjoyed the ambiance in a quieter section away from the entrance to the decorative well-stocked and mirrored Bar. I felt our waiter Nicholas displayed a lot of discipline in his explanation of the meal. This meal spoke for itself in its tasteful preparation from kitchen to takeout. I took home half of my Wagyu burger plus a quarter of my partner's. The quality of the meat is exceptional in addition to its lasting desirability as takeout. I've been to other locations but this one is right in front of our apartment and has definitely become my favorite. Brian, our server, was excellent! First time at this location of Capital Grille and it did not disappoint! We were seated in what we would later find out was the George Mason room. Nice quiet little spot for our family of 4. We were celebrating early birthday for our twins. The table was decorated with confetti and a personal card from the staff which was a nice touch. Brian was our server and came over to greet us immediately. I cannot express how great his service was for us. Attentive, fun, and he made our dinner a great experience! We started with drinks and bread service. Bread was various varieties and enjoyed by all. For starters, two of us had a cup of French onion soup, one had the lobster bisque and one had the field greens. The French onion was perfectly cooked. The lobster bisque was creamy and a nice touch that you can add the sherry to your liking. The field greens was nicely dressed. For dinner we ordered the filet mignon Oscar style with a bernaise, seared tenderloin with butter poached lobster and the dry aged New York strip. Our daughter didn't want an entree after her salad but enjoyed all of the sides. For sides we ordered the creamed corn with bacon, the Parmesan truffle fries and the lobster Mac and cheese. All was thoroughly enjoyed and the sides were plentiful enough that we brought some home. As a nice final touch, Brian brought out a birthday dessert for our twins. After my dinner here, I ended up getting some of the worst food poisoning of my life. I suspect it was the food at The Capital Grille, considering I didn't eat much earlier in the day. Either the sea bass wasn't properly cooked, or it was drenched in tons of butter, but it was a horrible aftermath. The miso butter sauce was good at first, but as the sauce cooled, the butter congealed and became unappetizing. The salmon that my boyfriend ordered was overcooked and dry. There was barely any sauce on the plate, so the salmon was bland. The lobster mac and cheese was really tasty, but was also super heavy and felt like it was bathed in butter. The au gratin potatoes were also too buttery and could've used more salt. I think the combination of all the extremely dense, buttery dishes I had was the issue. The bread rolls were really good, though - soft and warm. Service was pretty bad for this being a high-end restaurant. They were nice at first, but then dropped the ball, weren't attentive and only checked up on us once. The ambiance was cozy and upscale, but felt a bit too casual for the prices. When deciding where to go from my husband's birthday dinner, we decided to give this Capital Grille a try. It had been quite some time since we ate at one. We made a reservation for 5 p.m. on a Saturday. When making the reservation my husband didn't mention his birthday. When we arrived, there were some people dining there but there were still plenty of tables available. We were seated in a booth that had a view into the kitchen which was behind a large window (not that we could see much when we were seated). Our server, Rico, was very friendly and patient. He asked if we were celebrating anything. I mentioned that the previous day was my husband's birthday and left it at that. Another server later came by to tell us that he was working with Rico. However, we didn't see the other server again. I suspect that as it gets busier, 2 servers covering a table may well be necessary. We started with drinks. I had a Passion Fruit Mojito which consists of: "Diplomatico Planas and Diplomatico Exclusiva Rums, passion fruit soda". This was a good drink---not very strong but quite flavorful. My husband had a glass of Siduri Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir, which he said was good quality. For our first course, I had a cup of lobster bisque which is described as: "traditional lobster bisque garnished with fresh Maine lobster". This was an excellent bisque. The base was thick and creamy with just a hint of Sherry. As for the lobster---calling it "garnish" didn't do it any justice as the portion was very generous. My husband had shrimp cocktail which came with "spicy housemade cocktail sauce". He said the shrimp were good quality and the sauce was mildly spiced and didn't overtake the shrimp. Next, we shared a "Burrata with heirloom tomatoes" that was dressed with a 15 year aged balsamic. The burrata was smooth and creamy. Plus, it came with 2 pieces of toast. The heirloom tomatoes were ripe and cut into thick slices. Also, some small tomatoes were cut up and added to the mix. We did enjoy this and I think the heirloom tomatoes were the star of the show due to their juiciness and ripeness. We both got the 10 oz. filet. (as an aside, we both wished they offered filets in a smaller size). Both of us ordered our steaks medium rare. They came to the table topped with some butter. Oddly enough, despite my steak being tender, it was on the dry side while my husband's was more moist. I researched why this happened and found out that filets are best cooked medium rare. As they veer into "medium" they start to dry out. Thinking back, my steak was on the edge. It had me wishing for some steak sauce. For a side dish, we got Soy glazed Brussels sprouts which had bacon lardons. My husband really likes Brussels sprouts. I like them, too, but they don't like me back :D Thus, I ate them sparingly. The soy glaze came through clearly and the portion of bacon lardons was very generous. Needless to say, my husband gladly ate the lion's share of them Dessert wasn't even on our minds as we were pretty much full. Rico surprised us by bringing us a complimentary dessert. The plate had "happy birthday" written neatly in chocolate----so neatly done that it looked like the plate came that way. I ate the portion of the "Capitol Grille cheesecake brulee style with fresh berries". While, my husband ate the "flourless chocolate espresso cake with cocoa powder and fresh raspberries". Both of us enjoyed what we ate. Each dessert also had a small dollop of whipped cream. It was a very nice ending to the meal. Absolutely love this place! Everything we have eaten here has been amazing and worth every penny! We came for our anniversary for a second time in a row bc we loved the first experience! For appetizers we got the bacon and oysters. The bacon is extremely tender and smokey. One of our favorite appetizers. The oysters were also very good and fresh. Both steaks were cooked and seasoned nicely. The Brussels sprouts are my favorite side! I've never had sprouts like it before! Our server was very nice and gave helpful recommendations. Since it was our anniversary he surprised with complimentary dessert and glasses of champagne to help us celebrate. Overall such a great place to come for a special occasion! read more

We as a family, 6 total went to the Capital Grill for the Matriarch's 82nd birthday. What a pleasant experience. They had the table decorated for the birthday celebration and every server knew and congratulated my mother in law. That being said, let's get to the food. The Steaks (filets, strips) were fantastic. I had a Gorgonzola sauce on my NY Strip was wonderful the sides were great, and family style. The deserts were delicious too. Great service, great food, and a great atmosphere.... You get what you pay for. It's not cheap but well worth it for a great dining experience. read more
