Before you only count the reviews on Yelp, you should look at their Facebook reviews as well....there are a lot of 5-stars. I am a USAA customer and they have a savings program through their certified dealers, and Battlefield is one. I had reached out to my local dealership in Charlottesville, looking for a new Fusion and I knew what color and trim package I wanted. He looked for 2 weeks and couldn't find the car I wanted. When I remembered USAA, Cheryl Brown at Battlefield reached out to me within 5 minutes of filling out the info request form. Within an hour, she'd found the exact car I wanted. I told her about my trade in and she gave me a fair "ballpark" price (subject to visual appraisal of course). She asked me if I was military, first responder or if I owned any other Fords, even before I told her about my USAA discount, so she could try to get me some money off. We negotiated the price of the vehicle over email, and within one day she had the car on the lot. When I arrived, it was detailed and ready to go, I signed the paperwork and left with my new car in an hour. This is the most pleasant buying experience I've ever had, and I'm a serial car buyer. Buying a car from out of state- they sent me the paperwork uncertified and someone rooted through my mailbox and opened the package, seeing the SSN and other sensitive information, no doubt stealing my identity currently. Now I have to call credit bureau, police, my credit card companies, etc, and this can potentially ruin my life for years while I fight this battle. The dealership didn't care at all when I told them. Unprofessional. Don't trust them with your sensitive information. Not worth it. read more

I had such high hopes for this dealership unfortunately I feel as if I was lied to and taken advantage of. Extremely disappointed in this dealership. I selected to buy a used suv from a well know dealership because I felt like it was a more secure place to get a used vehicle. I was wrong. The sales experience buying the vehicle was a good one. I bought the used suv for my son. It was his first vehicle. The sales staff was nice and friendly. My experience got even better when the dealership called about a week after I bought the vehicle and let me know they found a mistake and charged my credit card too much and wanted to be upfront and let me know they were crediting the card. I was happy to see a dealership do the right thing in regard to money. It all hit the fan about two or three weeks after we bought the suv. The vehicle had a loud knocking noise in the engine. We had only put a couple of hundred miles on the suv. Since my son is a senior in high school and at the time was virtually schooling the suv was hardly driven. We had the suv towed to a local Ford dealer where they told us that the engine oil was leaking into the chambers and the only fix was a new engine. They said it would be over $7,000 for a new engine. Well not a new one but installing a used engine. I paid $6,000 for the suv only a couple of weeks before. And it was going to cost $7,000 to replace the engine with a used engine. I was beside myself. We were told when we bought the suv that the dealership inspects all vehicles to ensure the vehicles are in good condition. The Ford dealership where I took the suv told me that this was easy to spot, and the vehicle should have never been sold to us in that condition. Was I sold a lemon? I called Battlefield expecting them to step up and do the right thing. They put me in touch with the general manager (I think his name was David but not sure). He essentially told me to pound sand. He said I didn't purchase the warranty so that is what you get with buying a used vehicle. I asked him if they inspected the suv, etc. He said they did. He said they inspect all vehicles to ensure they sell quality vehicles. What a bunch of bull. I was sold a bill of goods. I was sold a vehicle that needed a new engine and they never told me. I feel like a sucker because I trusted them. The worst part is we hardly drove it after we bought it. My faith in this dealership is gone. The general manager had the chance to step up and do the right thing and chose not to. Now I have a vehicle that the engine needs to be replaced and don't have the money to replace it. I am out the $6,000 I used to buy the vehicle and don't have the money for a new engine or a different vehicle since I can't even sell this one because of the engine. They need to fire this general manager and hire one that cares and will do the right thing. Very disappointing! This dealership can do the right thing. Couldn't be happier with the way the sales staff treat customers. Dylan Carroll is a very knowledgeable Sales Consultant. Greg P. and Josh B. were great managers to work with as well! Outside of the Sales Department, both Augusta B. in Accounts Payable and George in the Parts Department were very kind and patient. Beyond the great people, the dealership itself seemed well-maintained and had a wide selection of complimentary beverages and doughnuts. There are other Ford Dealerships closer to where I live, but I will absolutely consider driving past them in order to deal with Battlefield Ford if I find myself shopping for a pre-owned Ford vehicle in the future. read more

If you want to be over-charged, ridiculed, and bad mouthed when trying to buy a new vehicle, then Battlefield Ford in Culpeper in the place for you! They stacked a whopping $10,000 dealer upcharge on top of the MSRP on a truck I was interested in which is nothing more than price gouging. To add insult to that injury, the dealership resorted to becoming verbally hostile when I inquired about the questionable ethics of an exorbitant over-charge especially in light of everything else we as consumers are having to deal with these days. My recommendation is to skip this horrible dealership entirely and give your business to one of the many other reputable Ford dealers in the VA/MD/DC metro area that value and respect it's customers. I can count on one hand the number of pleasant experiences I've had. This place is one of them. No one was pushy. After owning a very reliable Fusion Hybrid for eight years, I decided upon the 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid. I was open to either the Sport or Titanium package, and BF-C had both in my preferred color. When I called the dealership, Dylan took my call. He was very courteous and informative and did not come across pushy or as though he was my new best friend. We asked him to go along during the test drive, and he aptly answered our questions. During the price negotiation Dylan wasn't away from his desk 'forever', which we all know is a rare experience. Josh, the sales manager, and my husband weren't seeing eye-to-eye on price, but the next day we renegotiated over the phone and picked up my car! My salesman was great ! but there services sucks , I took my 2019 F350 4x4 there to get state inspection go to pick it was and was told not asked but was notified that the was performed a factory recall and reprogramed the power control module. paid and left dealer and the truck now runs poorly, shifts hard and does not have the same power. I checked on the internet and found many senior ford diesel mechanics on a chat that this is a know problem, if they had asked I would have not had the reprograming do based on what is have read. never going back again when dodge has some new trucks going to by a 3500 cummings and not from battlefield ! read more

I only gave one star but preferred to give none. We have a car that was part of an estate and wanted to trade it in. Even though we are in Pa. We managed to jump through hoops and get POA and Death certificate and all they needed for transaction. They spoke to FORD MOTOR CREDIT and also our attorney. The night before we were to drive there they cancelled the transaction! I wish I had checked these reviews prior. Now my husbands credit has a hit on it for NO REASON. Stay away folks. Unbelievably poor sales experience we (repeat customer) looked at a little truck on Tuesday New Year's eve. Texted the salesman yesterday that we were really interested in the truck; no response; called first thing this morning with a question about damage shown on Carfax (spoke to the salesman) and stated that we were ready to buy once he called us back after he found out what kind of damage there was which should have only taken a few minutes. We didn't hear anything back and when we called back at 1 PM the salesman would not take the call. We then got sales manager on phone who informed us truck had been sold. Will not go back. This is an ambivalent review, because Battlefield Ford's service department has always done right by me via servicing my private-party purchased Ford Explorer. But our recent experience looking at some of their used trucks? I'd rather have root canal. We were in the market for a used truck, & were initially interested in a Toyota Tundra that was on their lot. We'd visited this vehicle before, so already knew that all we needed was a test drive. Weren't surprised to be approached by a salesperson - however WERE very surprised to be approached by a young saleswoman wearing a skin-tight slinky top, skin-tight leggings, & bare-foot in flip-flops. Now honestly. I'm not a prude, & don't expect sales people to dress in suits & ties like days of old. But this woman was dressed like she should be serving Wings at Hooters. Not only did she not know anything about the Toyota Tundra we were interested in, but she INSISTED on accompanying us on our test drive - something we've never encountered before. And during the drive - she would NOT. SHUT. THE. F*CK. UP. She asked us endless personal questions, & then volunteered stuff about herself (like we cared). Meanwhile, my poor husband is trying to listen to the engine, transmission - you know - TRYING TO LISTEN TO & GET A FEEL FOR THE CAR!!!!!!! We don't want to give you personal information, & we don't care about yours. After we had had enough of this woman's blather & returned to the dealer, she even said that she tends to talk too much ( gee - do ya think so???), & asked us to come in & talk to her manager in case she stepped on our toes. Honestly - did we really look like we just fell off of a turnip truck somewhere?? When we declined, the manager actually came out to tell us that the truck we'd just test-driven was previously owned by a local Catholic school dean. Gee - does that mean it was blessed, or maybe that Jesus rode in it??? Oh, & we are NOT going to give out our phone number to you. Yeah - that's just what I need. You people calling me. We were looking at the Edge Titanium. Sticker is $44,500. When negotiating, they said our 2017 Ford Escape was worth $12,820 on a TI but they'd give us $$14,500. Understandable with the price of trade ins. The price they started out with in the negotiation process on the Edge was $46,500. Whoa!!!!! Why if the sticker says $44,500 are we starting out at $46,500? The rep said, "That's the internet price!" So,I said, theInternet price is higher than the sticker? "Yes", he said but we are giving you $2000 off that price to make it $44,500. Huh?? Not sure of this logic. Didn't buy!!!! Rep got pretty nasty after we said NO!! People, If you buy a car from them GET IT INSPECTED FIRST. I had the worst experience of my car buying life (40years) when I bought this seemingly nice Ford Truck from them just September 2017. Since i'll be nice I will not mention the unknowledgeable salesman name that showed me the vehicle but I wanted to give him a chance. Long story short, they sold me a nicely painted piece of crap that was falling apart from bottom side by rust. The doors were opened both times for me when I entered the car so that I would not notice the malfunctioning CD player that kept making noises. I'd never felt like such a turd until after I purchased the vehicle. They sold me crap with straight faces. It was supposed to be certified but the other shops told me that it was not possible to certify the vehicle due to the maintenance flaws. read more

I suggested my 80 + yr old father he buy a car with safety features. He went to this place to buy a car and he explained to the salesperson he wanted a car with certain safety items, the guy misled my dad and sold him a car that wasn't any better than what he was driving. When I saw the car I questioned my father and he said the salesperson said the car had the safety items. The car didn't have these items. My father went back the next day, less than 24 hrs to return the car and was told "too bad, we can sell you another car". Sad, that they would treat an old man this way! I watched my father struggled to get into this car they sold him, that alone should have suggested to the salesperson this wasn't the right car for a man in his 80's !! I don't like giving negative reviews but my brief experience with these guys left a bad taste in my mouth. Overall the experience with Battlefield was tiring. Here as some annoying things in case they care to improve: - When the appraisal is done lock the car you appraised and return the keys to the owner. After all they are still the owner. Respect that and don't make them feel like a hostage. - If you know somebody is not trading in a lease car, don't show them a price with the lease car trade in discount. - Ask if they are military, police, etc., Don't just show them a price with the discount included. Its intentionally dishonest misrepresentation of the price. - Be upfront about the rebates included in the online price. Why would you pre-include rebates (military, lease trade-in etc.) the majority of people won't qualify for in the prices on the internet except to mislead people in to coming out to the dealership? I would have given it one star but at least the sales man seemed polite and professional. Also buyer be aware, I think my trade in value came in fairly low. Make sure you do some research up front to know ball park what you think your trade-in is worth. The dealer can make whatever offer they want, it's really up to the customer to say whether that is acceptable. read more

They sometimes put cheap price and make you buy the car. But the car will have some issue and you will end up spending more money. Their used car managers are rude. Specially Greg. Do NOT use this dealership! We bought a used vehicle here last August. They were nice as could be throughout that process. The vehicle has had THREE major issues in the 10 months that we've owned it and they have not resolved the issues even once. They do not seem to care, they do not treat us as if we are important at all. In the latest situation, they have had our vehicle for FIVE days, did not even touch it until day 4, charged us $500 and the problem still exists! I traveled about an hour to 1. look at a specific used truck and 2. deal with a business NOT located in the greater DC area in hopes of getting better customer service. It was raining so I wasn't able to give as thorough an inspection as I would have liked, but I ended up purchasing the vehicle and drove it home that day. The following weekend I gave it a solid once over and discovered a couple of safety related items I had missed - the specifics are unimportant. Being this was a 10 year old used vehicle, which had been sold as-is and accepted by me, I expected little or no resolution to my issues. I sent my salesman an email explaining the situation and waited to see if I received any response. Not only did I get a response via email the same day, he had escalated my concerns to management who called me within hours. Again, specifics are not important, but we quickly arrived at a resolution that remedied my problem and made me feel much better about the entire deal. Anyone can sell you a car - what makes the difference is when the people selling it actually care about selling you another one one day. The only way to do that is to make you a happy customer the first time. In my case, they succeeded. I wouldn't hesitate to drive the hour again and buy another vehicle from them. read more

I was looking to buy a brand new car. I looked at Cowles Ford in Woodbridge and didn't get very good service. Once I found the car I wanted, I realize they had it in Culpeper. The minute I called the dealership I was hooked in with a salesman who was very knowledgable of the lot and of what I wanted. He was so helpful, working back and forth with me while I was working that day. They haggled pricing with me as low as they could, and it was definitely a fair price. I drove out there all the way from Manassas just to use their services. I had no idea how personable, friendly, knowledgable, and just warm feeling that dealership was. They treated me as if I was a friend they hadn't seen in awhile; I chatted with about 6 different people there. We got there as it was closing time, and every single person stayed late just for me. The salesman, Mike Huffman, was the most cordial and personable. He went over every inch of my car with me, answering any questions I had. Then, he even stayed and talked with my boyfriend about a car my boyfriends mother had been showing interest in. The dealership closes at 7:30, and he didn't leave til almost 9:30. I am so grateful for the "family-like" service I got from every single person at Battlefield Ford of Culpeper. Dave Carter and Mike Huffman were extremely helpful for me, being a naive, inexperienced 23 year old. Coming from the other dealerships which barely gave me the time of day when I was there, I have been ranting and raving to everyone about my beautiful car and the impeccable service I got from Culpeper.
