1620 Adelaide St., Concord is a joke; they don't maintain the washroom. We have a fire waiting to happen. The place is infested with roaches, and the security gate doesn't work. Multiple people have filed complaints about the laundry room, but they do nothing to fix it fully or just replace it. Now they charge everyone a flat rate for water usage for the entire building. This place is run by horrible people who only care about their profits. Such a shame. read more

Lived in a great place for many happy years. Then BAA took over and management went downhill fast. They fired the 2 onsite managers (day/evening) and closed the onsite office, safety is a joke, don't keep and don't keep the common areas updated/clean. Code enforecment AND vector control have been to the property a total of 5 times this year. New tenants just leave eventually. Legacy tenants who volunteer or work in the community are frustrated. Requests go ignored for weeks to months. It used to be wonderful. BAA ruined it. Absolutely terrible customer service. Our apartment building has been without drinking water for over a month and nothing has been done to fix it. There is no communication about the status of repairs. When on the phone with them to ask for a status update about this issue, they hung up on me. read more

We have been waiting a year and 2 months to get our broken air conditioning unit fixed. They continue to blame it on an HOA approval but have clearly mismanaged and neglected the situation. When we request maintenance they brush us off with blaming it on HOA. Any other requests are met with mans-planing and questioning if we(40/30W) know how to properly work a dishwasher or disposal. BAA were the property managers for a building in Oakland that I rented. I originally rented from them for about 6 months and then left for travels and work and came back and immediately contacted them again about renting from them again. I've rented apartments all over the US and the world and you never know what you're going to get w/ property managers. I've never had a problem with anyone that works at this place. Tyler was awesome throughout the process. These guys are really easy to work with and responsive. They have online dashboards like a large property manager which are easy to use and submit tickets for repairs. But they also feel like a almost family run personable group of folks who were always responsive via text, phone and email. If I were looking in the East Bay again I would definitely look to them again. read more

My building is new to having a management company. I was a bit leery as I've been here 15 years and was happy the way it was. Now I love it! I like having my rent automatically paid. My check comes in on the 3rd of the month and that was no problem, it comes out on the 4th. The first time I signed in for maintenance repair was a Sunday, I thought I'd have to wait until Monday. I heard back with-in minutes and it was resolved in less than an hour. I reported a problem today with my tub faucets and heard back from Garrett immediately. It was late in the afternoon today but I'll be able to use my shower in the morning. Everyone that I've been in contact with there has been very friendly and I've been happy with results for any problem or question. read more

Hello community, I believe this business is a scam. Luke is taking your money! I applied for a property in Hayward, Ca almost two months ago. I understand we are in COVID-19 but 2 months of telling me the cleaners/venders have no finish date. I am a teacher living here in the Bay Area with children so I have nothing to gain from writing this review. It is the fact that Luke has wasted my time when he had every opportunity to tell me my application did not meet the requirements. But I know for certain that my income, credit score etc. Makes me a well qualified renter. Today I tried calling several times to get an update on the property as I have been doing the last two months with no answer. So I had a friend call from another number and Luke answers on the first ring. Luke begins to explain to my that the property which i have been waiting to be cleaned and painted would be available mid Oct or late October and that he has one strong candidate but there are multiple units available with same floor plan. Basically the same script he had told me two months ago. Frustrated and in disbelief I decide to call Luke immediately with a blocked number and guess what.. he answers. I say hello, Luke says hello, I say Luke this is Riles what's up? He says.. umm hello, umm hello hello i can't hear you and hangs up. This only confirmed my suspicion that i was being scammed and I have the text screen shots to confirm. I have also called the number advertised on the website which ought to be the corporate office but again no answer either. I wasted $40 on the application and 2 months of valuable time that I wont get back. I understand it's only $40 but it's my money that I work hard for and i will not tolerate anyone stealing from me. Our entire experience from initial communication, to viewing a property, going through the application process, and signing a lease on an apartment, was exceptionally smooth and efficiently processed. Through warm, transparent, excellent communication, we were able to move in the very next day after viewing and applying to a beautiful apartment. I was amazed at the work ethic and dedication devoted to helping us successfully move to a new home. After a number of weeks living in an apartment managed by Bay Apartment Advisors, I have continued to experience great communication for our questions and requests. Friendly people individually, and the folks who do building maintenance are especially kind and attentive. However, as a company, they have an oddly casual approach to reports of theft and other security issues for their properties. I've lived in two buildings managed by them, and their approach to these issues, shall we say, lacks hustle. This was an especially a bad situation in Oakland, on a declining block that was also being ignored by the police. Repairs would be made after, say, doors were breached, but they would be a patch at best, done in a way that could easily be undone if someone returned with the same tools as before. I'm surprised there weren't more incidents than there were, because repairs were so-so at best, and nothing was ever actually improved. I realize that cameras and reinforced locks and doors cost money and time, but if that's too high an expense to bear, get out of the property management business. It's a renter's market in the Bay Area, and I imagine most rental companies can get by without making any real effort to support their tenants. Another one will be along soon enough. Still, it's sad and frustrating to see people make that choice. read more

I can't speak about the residential side of their management but as a commercial tenant I have been very unhappy. Repeated requests to fix a leaking ceiling were not remedied, which resulted in a waterfall of water pouring into my business from a unit above. Repeated requests for compensation from landlord were denied, as well as request for compensation for cancelled classes. All in all I ended up paying for their negligence and am still getting my rent raised each year. Beware!!! read more

My boyfriend and I recently moved to Oakland from San Francisco. After looking at several other apartments and dealing with rather unprofessional leasing agents who showed up late, it was a breath of fresh air dealing with Patrick Nash. The application process was easy and he took the time to really tell us about the apartment, which surprisingly at other open houses we had a difficult time with the leasing agents. We are new to the area and he kindly shared with us about his favorite Oakland hangouts. The automatic bill pay is fantastic, it's so easy and we never have to worry about carving time out of our schedules to make a trip to the rental offices. The building is extremely safe, and I like the key FOB entry system. Overall we're very happy here and our experience with Patrick was nothing short of fantastic. read more

***DO NOT RENT ANY APARTMENT FROM THEM*** - Daniel Bornstein of Bornstein Law is their Real Estate Attorney. And, he is one of the Top east bay evictors. Mr. Bornstein was sited by the courts for hosting "Eviction Spa Clinics" for their clients to learn and know how to evict. Mr. Bornstein also is responsible for bull dozing a tenants home after he lost his case to evict her from her house, not apartment but HOUSE. BAA are Mormons too. Minorities, BEWARE! They do not believe our God is the same. If they did, they would host a morale orientation with their clients which outlines respect and dignity for all. Instead, these types of professionals have to be court ordered to do what they are supposed to do for tenants, new and old. Otherwise, gentrification IS their scope-of-work. And, they have no remorse what-so-ever for those who have lived in their apartment for well over 10++ years. These people will allow their clients to BE wrong but yet, allow the client to serve an Unlawful Detainer against the Tenant; in hopes, the tenant will give up and let them kick them out of their unit. Bornstein has a high-star rating; but they are getting them either from themselves and/or Landlords who believe in kicking out people to gain higher rents. ***DO NOT RENT ANY APARTMENT FROM BAY APARTMENT ADVISORS*** Not to mention, any maintenance issues you may suffer, it won't be fixed timely. Again, you have to go through formalities to get things done. I figure, if we are all paying rents every month then we should be able to get maintenance work done almost immediately. Not a good experience renting an apartment from them. The apartment was new, worked reasonably well, and had a nice repairman who fixed maybe half of our requests. Also, in a good area, so not much to complain about there, but the apartment manager got my name wrong multiple times while talking to me which felt pretty bad since i'd emailed him right before meeting. I also felt like they were not honest with me at the end as we did a walk-through of the apartment at the end of my stay and agreed on the security deposit return amount, but then I received less than that as they re-evaluated after I moved out so that I could not do anything about it read more

They manage a building I've lived in for almost a year, and despite forcing me to move in asap so that they could get their money, at move-in the place was nowhere near ready. Appliances weren't working, they had taken shortcuts on almost everything (paint, windows, closet, etc), and for what I'm paying, that's pretty ridiculous. The online request tool makes things easier, but the front house has a bad attitude and seem to think that managing a lot of buildings is an excuse for shoddy work and poor customer service. More buildings = more $$, and with what they're making off of us....pssshhhh. Avoid their buildings if you can..others will make it worth your money, but not BAA. read more

I've had such an amazing experience with these guys. Not only are the staff helpful and efficient, but they are great listeners and truly good people. They sincerely try their best to help. I can honestly say that the landlord at my apartment has a heart of gold and considered by situation and did not entirely increase my rent to market value, he is not the stereotypical "greedy landlord" and truly cares about his tenants. I've only been in the apartment for a few days, but thus far it looks just as I had expected. My roommate and I weren't able to come see the apartment in person because we were moving from the East Coast. Patrick Nash took us on a FaceTime tour through the apartment and was completely honest in giving us the rundown of the area, noise level, and amenities. The refinished kitchen is awesome. My only grievance is the dimly lit and rather stinky hallways. But, that aside. Love love love and so happy that BAA helped us find this place. read more

Not very responsive. The communal spaces are always a mess. I've asked numerous times why this is and they either ignore my calls and emails or give me lame excuses. We've had numerous issues with break ins and their responses are underwhelming. After noticing that the elevator permit was expired I brought it to their attention and after a month I noticed a unofficial sticker claiming it to be a temporary permit was posted next to the official permit. 11 months later this sticker is still posted. For all the money they are collecting they definitely do a lousy job. Step it up. read more

Called Patrick Nash this morning who confirmed the apartment was still available open and who also highly recommended that we view the apartment prior to committing. in fact, he offered to contact the current tenant today to arrange a viewing rather than wait until his planned viewing for Saturday. However, when we followed up this evening to confirm if the tenant was open to showing the apt. (per our conversation a few hours earlier), he advised the place was already leased! read more

I recently moved out of one of the Berkeley properties managed by BAA and my moving in / moving out experience with BAA was great! Patrick Nash is very professional, accommodating, and extremely helpful with any questions that I had prior to moving in. Even the moving out process with BAA was great! Patrick allowed me to have a few extra days after my lease was up to get all my belongings out of the apartment and he sent my full security deposit right away. He was great to work with! I wish I could have continued with BAA but unfortunately I'm starting school and relocating to a new area outside of the Bay Area. read more

My apartment had some windows that had been repainted shut prior to my move-in, and within a few days of asking for help maintenance was in the apartment to reopen the sealed windows.
