Kevin exceeded my expectations. We had a scheduling hiccup but I admire his hustle to still make it work. Challenges: he had to work on my car that was parked on the street, which means no water or electricity. Extras: he removed my bumper sticker and did his best to remove scuffs on the fender. I transport several dogs in my car pretty regularly. Between the fur and a recent pet-accident, I felt it was time for a seat shampoo and pet hair removal. I debated between going somewhere or having someone come to me. I thought I might be able to get around waiting in line if I chose mobile service. So I reached out to these people for a quote. The quote was ok, not great, and they said they could come that day, giving me an appointment time an hour and a half later. That worked with my schedule, so I agreed and confirmed the appointment. About 20-30 minutes before the appointment time, they messaged me that they would be showing up "a little bit past" the set time. Ok, fine. But they said they were sending three people, not two, so that it would be quick. Great. None of that happened. And as I continued to check in while waiting for them to arrive (I had other things I could have been doing), they seemed to hold me responsible for their lateness. They said I should understand there was traffic. They said they had been doing yard work. They said they were coming from San Leandro. None of these are or were my fault. They chose the time, not me, knowing where I was located, but that fine point seemed to elude them. And as their arrival time got later and later, and I was waffling about canceling, they continued to keep me on the hook, telling me they were "just around the corner" or "about to pull up" when they weren't, which just further held me hostage and made me feel lied to. I was literally walking over to close the garage after having waited a generous 45 minutes past the appointment time when two guys (not three) pulled up in a car straight out of Central Casting from a vintage 1970's Al Pacino movie, with tinted back windows and a grizzled guy smoking a cigarette in the passenger seat. It was all I could do not to cancel then and there. But I felt that would be self-defeating. I really needed my car interior cleaned. The driver said he needed to look over my car, which he did, and then he told me it would take an hour and a half. And I was a fool yet again for believing him. Over 2 hours later, they finished up. And then tried ringing my neighbor's door (rather than knocking on mine) and calling some random number that wasn't mine to notify me. I only knew they were finished because the security camera pinged me. It was 5:30 at this point and my afternoon was destroyed. A little over halfway through, the owner wrote to me and said they didn't want bad feelings and that if things weren't ok, he/she would personally come over and do the interior. But I just don't have the time to do this again, and so I politely declined. The combination of the extreme lateness while repeatedly being told they were "arriving any moment," the fewer than promised people which resulted in a longer than proposed appointment, just left me feeling foolish. Is the car clean? Yes (1 star). Is the dog fur gone and the dog poop off the car seat? Yes (1 more star). Were the windows and mirrors filmy, streaked, and spotty, requiring me to clean them all? Yes. Did I find the felt pad for my center console tossed into the middle of the street with dirty car wash water? Yes. Ultimately, I know that things happen. But when they do go sideways, I feel transparent and honest communication is the best strategy. I don't feel like I was afforded that today at any point in time. And this is why I won't be using this company again. read more

On top of being two hours late to the appointment time of 9am, a "about two hours" job turned into three, and there are a couple things I'm not satisfied with. Granted I did say I wasn't in a rush but I did have things to do afterwards and my entire day was set back so I was frustrated. The stains I specifically asked to be worked on look like they weren't touched, and small stuff like my pedals were not detailed. I will say they did an excellent job on wiping down all the buttons on my doors and dashboard and there's no dirt in my car now. The outside is clean and they did a great job on my rims but the tires look uneven. Anastasia was easy to talk to and brought down the price to $175 after I mentioned a lack of budget to pay for the service. If you want a mediocre detailing job for not too much, this would be the service. Wish I had nicer things to say. read more

Kevin is on time or early, which should not generally be applauded, but doesn't happen anymore. He knows his and our time are valuable and he acts accordingly. My car was sitting outside in 110-115 degree weather in the San Joaquin county and was not clean at the time. Despite a thorough waxing 3 months earlier, water spots were ingrained all over the horizontal surfaces of the car, which wax would not remove. Kevin was able to get all of them out with a wash, a clay bar and wax, and conditioned all the exterior trim. The wheels were just about the cleanest I have ever seen them since the car was new. This is a 20 year-old BMW station wagon, and it looked fabulous with not one water spot left on it by the time Kevin and his assistant were done. And, he was able to come to my home so I did not need to miss my remote work to deal with all of it. The cost was very reasonable and competitive with prevailing (good) detail costs in this area (San Francisco). I cannot recommend Bay Area Auto Detailing enough. I will very certainly be calling them again, in the future, and if you want it done right, you will too :-). read more
