By far, booking my vendor for hair was the most difficult booking of my wedding planning. I had a very distinct vision in mind of loose, romantic waves with slick-backed front bangs. I browsed so, so many wedding hair Instagram profiles, and just wasn't seeing what I was going for. I was referred to Bay Area Beautiful by my wedding photographer, and in browsing their Instagram profile, I found a photo of the exact hair look I was aspiring to! I saw in the caption that Chantelle was the hair stylist behind this particular look. I quickly booked Bay Area Beautiful and a trial with Chantelle. For my trial, Chantelle was flexible in my limited timing and gave me a relaxing reprieve during a jam-packed weekend of trials/tastings. Chantelle made me a true partner in the hair styling process, pausing often to get my input. The trial hair was an excellent start and Chantelle encouraged me to wear it for the full day and make notes of any changes I had. When it was time for the actual wedding day, Chantelle listened intently to the subtle changes I had in mind and executed those alterations seamlessly. She also styled the hair of my 8 bridesmaids, my mom, and a last minute add-on for my now husband with ease! Kathryn provided bridal make-up and hair services for my July 2015 wedding. Kathryn also brought in JD to help with my 3 bridesmaids and mom's hair and make-up services. They made us look the best we have ever looked! Most days I leave the house with only SPF moisturizer and I air dry my hair in the car on my commute to work, so choosing a hair and make-up artist for my wedding day was a daunting task. I spoke to many artists over the phone in the bay area and Kathryn was the only one who made me feel comfortable. She eased my mind, and when she sent me pictures of the look she thought I was going for based off our phone conversation, I knew I wanted her to do my hair and make-up on my wedding day. I would recommend a trial if you have time. Finding the right look was a process for me :) I learned the way my hair grows and the shape of my head isn't the most flattering for the up-do I had in mind. Kathryn was nice enough to meet me for a 2nd trial after the 1st one didn't go so well. My makeup was nailed down on the 1st trial. We just made a few tweaks the day of that we had discussed during the 2nd trail. Kathryn is a fantastic artist. The manner in which she performs her work and operates her business is excellent. Kathryn is a good listener, she provides professional opinion, and her demeanor is very pleasant to be around on such an important and exciting day! Kathryn is so easy to communicate with and she does what she says. The day of went pretty smoothly. My only complaint was that Kathryn forgot to put my veil in. I totally forgot about it until after I got in my dress and by that point her and JD were a good distance away. Kathryn coached my sister on how to put the veil in over the phone, and everything worked out. Let this be a warning to you brides, don't forget about your veil! I did, but I'd like to blame it on the fact that I was so happy with my hair, that I didn't want to cover it up! I would have given four 5 stars if it wasn't for this hiccup. This review is long overdue. I got married in September and used Bay Area Beautiful for our hair and make up. We had Kathryn, Chantelle and Jessica who were all amazing. I was struggling to decide on who to use for our hair and makeup on my wedding day. I reached out to several different stylists and just wasn't excited about any of them. I then reached out to Kathryn and immediately wanted to use her. Not only is her work beautiful, but she is super responsive and made me feel comfortable with the whole process. A little over two years later when I was planning my wedding - I knew exactly who I wanted to use for my hair and make-up. When it came time for my trial, I must have shown Kathryn 6 different pictures of how I wanted my hair to look on the day of, (all a little different) and 6 different pictures of how I wanted my make-up to look. For example, I would like my blush like this, my eyes to be this color and my lips to look like this, not too much make-up but enough for the cameras, etc, etc,. Hiring Kathryn to do my wedding day hair & makeup was definitely one of the best decisions I made throughout the whole planning process! She was recommended to me by a friend, and I decided to book her just based on pictures of her work and our first few emails back and forth. I really can't say enough about how great Kathryn was from start to finish. I decided to do a trial run with her a couple months before the big day and I am SO glad I did. I'm from D.C. and had no idea where to find someone to do my hair and makeup. She responded to my email right away and asked all the right questions. She asked for pictures of my bare face, my face with my daily makeup, and pictures of me glammed up if I had any. She said she wanted me to look like myself on that day--which is exactly what I asked for! She kept in contact with me and we had the entire contract set up for 6 people to get their hair and makeup done well before my big day! I had the most unpleasant experience with this company on my wedding day. A wedding is such a beautiful experience but as we all know it can be stressful. Kathryn and her team were so unprofessional and unprepared ON THE DAY OF MY WEDDING she made it more stressful.She requires a deposit weeks before your event & also to Pay your full balance a couple days before the event which I thought was odd but still did it because I really liked their work. On the day of my wedding I had to be ready by a certain time for my photographer to arrive and to say the least Chantelle who works with Kathryn did not arrive. Kathryn tried to accommodate and sent me someone from a whole different company which is not what i paid for I paid for THEIR work and what they advertise. Not only that was upsetting but the other lady arrived 1 hr before my photographer arrived and had to get my mother, my sister & I ready so you can only imagine how rushed my work was I was not happy. This pushed the rest of my team back. I expressed to Kathryn how upset I was & she did not offer any kind of compensation for all the money I paid and the inconvenience when at the end of the day neither her or her team showed up. She still charged me all that money when not her or her "team" do the work.
