I hired these guys a few years back to put crawlspace insulation in my home in Hayward. They did a bang up job. The price was super competitive and reasonable; everyone arrived on time and cleaned up after themselves and almost immediately the house felt much cozier. The warmth and comfort in my house was literally a night and day difference. It was great. 5 stars. Fast forward a few years. I have a new house and Bay Area Insulation was the first company I called to put in sub-floor insulation, expecting the same level of service I experienced a few years back. I called once and left a message, waited a couple days ... called again, figured they were busy, waited a few more days, called a third time, got a hold of someone (receptionist?) who took my name and number and said she'd have her estimator call me back, then I waited a few more days, tried calling again, left another voicemail. Finally I filled out the form on the website with all my info and still haven't heard back. Dunno what happened. New management? These guys were great years ago. But now... can't even call a returning customer back, even after the girl on the phone said she'd have someone get back to me in a day or two? (this was about 2 weeks ago). 5 stars for the work they did a few years ago. -3 stars for treating a loyal and returning customer this way today. read more

It was finally time to get rid of that nasty old blown-in cellulose insulation raining dust down into the house every time the attic fan kicked on. I gave BAIS a call on a Tuesday, spoke with Carmen, and then Marvin got back to me in a couple hours. He came by the house Weds, discussed my concerns and laid out options, and said he'd provide quotes for the work. We were definitely leaning towards the more expensive option (full attic clean vs. rolling new insulation over the old), but Marvin did not push the higher cost job. On Friday I did reach out to see where the quote was and Marvin responded later with the quote. After signing the contract we were on the schedule in a week. The BAIS team showed up on time and did the job efficiently and cleanly in about 7 hours. Marvin came by afterwards to be sure I was happy with the work. BAIS is definitely recommended. read more

We had no insulation in our entire attic and our house was going through wild temperature swings, so we requested quotes from 3 of the highest rated companies on Yelp. They all came over, gave us quotes, and BAIS' price was way below the others: $1400 vs. $2100 and $4000. The man who came and inspected the attic from BAIS was very courteous and professional, so we decided to go with them. Their crew (3-4 guys) came over and got the job done in about 3-4 hours, keeping the house clean while they blew in lots of insulation. It's been a month since the job, and we have noticed a huge improvement in our house's temperature regulation. Called to get an estimate on attic and above-garage insulation. Got a voicemail, left message, no call back for days, then they finally called back and estimator Marvin came by, very professional in person and friendly. Then no estimate for a few more days until I emailed to hassle. After some back and forth I agreed to proceed with the work at the price they specified, no response. Another email, no response. Phone call: got a voicemail again. A third email, no response. Nothing in my spam box. I'm not sure if they're busy or just not competent as a business, but I'd stay far away if this is how they treat customers who WANT their service. read more

We bought a house in San Bruno last year. Our first winter here was fraught with freezing bedrooms, high heating bills, and continuous colds for our two young children. Upon inspection of the crawlspaces, it looked like the last installation job was done by the Tasmanian Devil high on espresso. Marvin and his team saved the day. They made time in their schedule within the week, and did a quick, fantastic, and thorough job. They cleaned out the hurricane aftermath in the space above the entire upstairs, and replaced it with a nice thick cloud cover of fresh insulation. He also identified a few areas of potential heat/cold leakage, and doubled up the coat to shore up the problem areas. All done within three hours. He was on-time for all appointments. We had them insulate under the joists of the house and put down a vapor barrier. Living on the coast is damp and mildew can form easily. This was all done for a very reasonable cost. The job is done! From start to finish (estimate, and scheduling) took just about 10 days. They did all the work yesterday. YES! Saturday. It looks great. Would work with again. Would recommend. Marvin and team did spray insulation in a new roof and add-on roof. I had 2 quotes within 24 hours of first email. They showed up early and ready to work at agreed upon start time. All windows/doors protected throughout their work. Did a good job covering the new ducting (at least 2x better than what I would have done myself). They adjusted the quote details easily as we had further discussions, and used the specific materials we requested. They were very responsive via email. When we were finally ready to schedule them (they were patient with us), the crew was under our house within 5 days of me signing the quote. 24 hours later, I can definitely feel the difference in our floors. We had an historic-construction house on an elevated foundation with no insulation underneath.
