Zion Av installed a 65" Lg C1 in a Mantle Mount over my fireplace. They ran higher end optical hdmi cables, expertly run through panels in the wall. We moved to a house with an old AV system, some working and some are not. We hired him to improve our internet access, make our AV usable, get all the speakers around house working, move and mount TV and sound bar, fix projector, screen and sensurround audio system. David is professional and prompt. He took the time to diagnose the problem before giving us a quote. We work from home so it's very important that we have good internet connection and David is able to work with our schedule, giving us heads up on when internet will be down while he is working on it. He is very patient explaining what needs to be done, why we need and how much will it cost. He was nice enough to let us try some products before we buy. We didn't end up buying some and there is no pressure at all! David works hard and plays hard too. I get to know the guy on a personal level. When I first reached out, he said he can't make it to our home until after 2 weeks. Since AV is not emergency, this is not a problem for us. Dave is awesome! Highly recommend him! With all my frustrations with Comcast, I finally looked on Yelp to see who could do a wall fishing job as I wanted my TV above the fireplace. I called him at 5:30 PM on a Wednesday, and he was at my place by 8:30 PM that day, as he had promised. He took a look inside my place, finding wall space, and said he could do the job easily. He stayed within my budget which I was grateful for. Also, he noticed Comcast had given me an old crappy cable box, and recommended me to get a HDMI one. I went the next day, and got a nice sleek box that's half the size! Dave came 2 days later, and did the job within an hour and half easily. Although I was not there, my brother kept me posted. I spoke with Dave during the job, and he mentioned Comcast did a horrible job with the internet cables and splitters, tech-y talk that I don't quite understand, but basically re-did it for faster internet connection at no cost. How awesome is that? I did read how he is not on time and such, but I had no problems. The most he'd be late was 30 minutes, but he did give me an hour long time frame of when he would be by. I don't do negative reviews lightly. David is NOT an honest business person. He stood in my living room after giving me an estimate of 2 hours and $800 then 5 hours later my tab was $1000. That's his estimating deficit and shouldn't be mine to pay for. But I did write the check because he also said (as he stood in my living room) he guaranteed his work and provided a one year warranty for all services. The type of work David does leaves most people dependent on him. HIS PROGRAMMING OF MY UNIVERSAL REMOTE DID NOT WORK AND STILL DOESN'T And he did NOTHING to fix it. - except imply I or the original installer was the problem. After many attempts to have him honor his warranty/guarantee, my emails (as recently as last week) continue to go unanswered. When he did respond to my first detailed emails the exact and specific issues he didn't acknowledge he might have made mistakes. He said "you have the software, here are your crappy files from before I programmed it." He didn't call or offer to come over to fix it. His attitude is about him making a buck and not customers. STAY AWAY. I am still having problems. He bashed the guy who installed my stuff originally. Well he at least cared. David, you did what amounts to stealing from me. I had enough of Comcast raising my bills and wanted to get over the air broadcast. I called a few antenna installers. Dave seemed most knowledgeable with what antenna would work well. I procured it from Amazon. Dave said there is no difference in cost should he get it either. Scheduled an appointment for 1st week June. Dave came as scheduled, surveyed the house first, procured the necessary brackets and did the job in a couple of hours. He cleaned up very well after that. His price was very reasonable. It's been a month since I got the antenna installed and I am enjoying the quality of over the air reception. I highly recommend Dave! read more

After deciding to install a flat panel TV and home theater and extend some home networking, I came to yelp to locate a contractor. Zion looked really good with all the 5 star reviews, so I thought I would give them a try. I called David last Friday and explained what I needed done. David asked if he could come over later that night and I said that I would be available after 7:30, David said okay and that he would be there at 7:30. After getting back from the Gym, I got a message from David saying that something had come up and that he was sorry and wouldn't be able to make it. He then asked if we could meet at 12:30 the following day, I said sure. The next day I came home for lunch to meet David and he pulled a 'no-show'. I called a couple times at 12:45 and 1:00 and there was no answer. I finally messaged him later in the afternoon asking where he was and he messaged me back that he was sorry and that he should have called and that there was some family stuff going on... David then said he would like to call me later that day or the next day to evaluate the job. I said fine. To make a long story a little less long, David didn't call me back later that day, nor did he call me the next day. At this point I was really anxious to get all my equipment installed so I called another contractor (check my reviews) and that contractor came the next day, upgraded my wired networking, hung my flat panel display, installed my home theater and even stayed to help me finish building my entertainment center! (That last bit was off the clock!) With all the great reviews David got, I'm sure he's knowledgeable but I have to rate him very low on dependability. My time is valuable and I don't have time to waste on cancelations and no-shows. read more

Asked him to install tv and sound bar wit concealing all wires, he kept sound bar wires visible. He was not willing to put an extra nut. I had to tight couple of nuts in tv frame after he left. He constantly tried to sell his hdmi cables at extreme rate of $50. I can get best quality hdmi for $10 in frys. His website has 10% discount offer. When i asked for this discount he made face like i asked for his kidney. I would not recommend. But i dont have experience with any other so i dont know if others are better or worse. read more

OK so I know that TiVO and cable really are not considered IT services, but that shit is confusing--especially when you have ComCast cable guy come over and "fix" everything for you so nothing works; then they blame it on your TiVO box. OK I digress, had problems with my TiVO and cable set up after we moved; ComCast bailed out with their lame excuses so I had to take matters into my own hands. I tried to find someone on Yelp but had no luck, so I went to Craigslist.com and found Zion AV; left an email at about 10:00 pm and had an email from Davie by 7:30 am the next morning. We dicussed his rate: $100 bucks for the first hour and $60 an hour after that, and the time he would show up. He was on time and had my stuff rewired and working within 30 minutes. He was great. It's difficult to convey to the fullest extent the excellent work Dave did for our home theater project. We initially hired him to install a wall mounted large screen LCD and surround sound in our family room and a smaller LCD in our bathroom. His prices were reasonable, but more importantly his quality of work and professionalism were unsurpassed. An added bonus is that he is actually also a really nice guy. In addition, because we liked his work so much we also asked him to take care of all the connectivity and wiring issues with our CAT5. In the end he wired the house at specifically requested outlets for data, installed wi-fi for the house and an additional wi-fi booster to reach the backyard and garage. Furthermore, at the same time we had a certain satellite TV company come to the house for installation and Dave worked with the company, both in person and over the phone, to make sure we got what we wanted from them. He also made sure that the satellite company's hardware connected flawlessly with our home system. To summarize, Dave (Zion AV) is knowledgeable, professional and considerate. I did quite a bit of comparison shopping before picking a company to do install my flat screen on the wall. I found Zion AV through yelp and after a series of due diligence questions I had Dave come out for the install. He did a fabulous job of installing the TV very quickly with great finished results. A few things to note: Dave included the wall mount in his price (The Sanus wall mount used is the best) Also, Dave uses a power bridge to wire the TV to your power supply (this way you don't have to run any hot electrical wiring. I hired Dave to do some low voltage wiring in my office that I was having built out. Dave was an extreme pleasure to work with. Dave was very professional, honest, and very knowledgeable about what I was looking to do. During the time Dave was working on the low voltage work, there was a lot of other construction going on that wasn't ideal for his working condition, but under the circumstances he made it work. Dave not only installed all the wiring in my office for phone lines and internet, but he also set up my router, firewall, networked 8 computers, networked my fax machine and 2 printers, connected Comcast, set up my credit card machine, helped install 3 flat screen TVs, set up speaker wire for my 6 ceiling speakers, installed the speakers, and wired 2 amps to run the speakers. I needed the speaker wiring totally redone in my house for surround sound and zoning. Dave, who owns Zion (it's a one man show) is fantastic! I needed three things done to my place: Stereo speaker wires run under the crawl space and through the walls, ethernet cable run under the crawl space and into my den, cable TV cable outlet moved from one end of my den to the other. Dave was not only less expensive than other electricians and handymen, but I believe, much, much better. He gave me a fixed price quote, but beyond just doing the work that he was asked to do, he also really knows his stuff, and gave me a bunch of recommendations for better ways to set up my stereo itself. For example, he put in a new cable to my system, and actually then spent the time (without charging more) to reprogram my surround sound. Wow! I cannot believe how good it sounds now -- infinitely better than before. Throughout everything - from estimate to completion of work, I felt like Dave was completely honest with me, wasn't trying to take advantage of me, and sincerely cared about arriving at the best solution for me. However, when I told him that the TV size was 65" he said it would cost $200 instead. There is no mention of the TV size limitation on their web site. It is not that I was getting an industrial size TV installed. Needless to say, I feel they are not very truthful. So be careful. He may be doing a good job. It is not a rocket science. Updated Review: Dave did some network cabling for me and sold me a Panasonic VT30 65" TV and mount/mounting job. The network cabling job was decent, but not fully tested, and required me to have him return to finish the job when I tested them on my own. For a total of 12 ports he installed, you'd think these could be tested pretty easily. In the end it was completed and worked okay though so I don't really ding him for this on my review. What I do penalize Dave for is pushing his stupid extended warranty scam onto me. Hoping that Dave was a trustworthy guy, I bought a "Repairmaster" extended warranty for the VT30 through him for several hundred dollars which he claimed at the time would cover any problem and replace the TV if necessary at no charge. Last week one of the rear fans on my TV started buzzing horribly. I thought great I have my warranty let me get that out and use it. Upon calling Repairmaster I was placed on hold for over two hours without anyone answering. In this time I started searching online and finding out how essentially almost everyone who ever purchased one of these warranties has reported the same experience. It seems that Repairmaster has engaged multiple vendors to resell their scam warranties to customers. They then share in the profits and no one is the wiser until the customer calls in for service and gets laughed away. I wrote Dave an email about this and was told that the warranty service "sucks" (his words) but that it was not a scam and I should have called him to fix my TV. Thank you Dave for selling me something that you think sucks. To all of Dave's other customers - I would strongly advise researching anything he tries to sell you. Maybe ask him things like "Do you think this is junk you are selling me?" Because clearly anything that makes him money is enough for him to screw over his customers... read more

After reading all the great reviews about ZionAV I decided to inquire about his service and emailed him for a HDTV antenna installation. A day goes by no response so called Dave instead, no big deal. Dave immediately picked up the phone and answered all my questions . I scheduled an appointment with him the following Friday at 3:30pm, as he says this is the earlist time he has available. I preferred the weekends but he was booked. I didn't want to take the day off from work as the last quarter of the year is usually busy for me instead I was able to work something out with my company so that I can leave work early. Friday came and got home a little before 3:30pm but didn't see any car in front of my house so I gave Dave a called. He told me he won't be able to make it and we need to reschedule!! Thanks for giving me a heads up. I understand that everybody is busy but if you can't stick to your schedule at least have the decency to call your customers or potential customers to let them know ahead of time(at least a day). First impression is very important and Dave blew it this time. I'll have to look somewhere else that is more dependable. read more

I called them three days ago and left a voice message. I emailed them two days ago in case they didn't get my voice message. Nobody bothered to call me back or respond in both instances. If they can't return my call for an inquiry, I can't imagine what the customer response would be like as a paying customer. read more

We've used Dave's services twice now. First time was a few years ago to mount the flatscreen over the fireplace. Second time was two months ago to install the surround system. While I'm not the technologically savvy type of electronics fanatic like my husband, I am in charge of keeping that arena in line with the budget. Or as I like to call it, reality. We told Dave what we were looking for (actually, I should say "what the husband was looking for") and he gave us the good, the bad and the ugly of mounting a tv over the fireplace, the issues involved, the costs and esthetics. I was picturing an end product with holes in the wall and wires hanging out for all to see. What Dave gave us was a look that was totally clean, inconspicuous and PRACTICAL. You'll see the wires if you look really really hard. It looks niiiice. Although we didn't buy the tv he recommended (sorry Dave, but Costco was my reality here), we did end up buying the sound system from him since it was a better product than what the husband had in mind. Plus his pricing was very competitive. Better stuff AND cheaper? Yeah, my reality issue is appeased. Dave even went the extra mile and programmed our remotes for us. ALL of them. Husband hasn't had any of the communication problems mentioned in the other reviews. All in all, we got the most bang for our buck with Zion and we'll be talking to Dave when reality leads us to our next project. read more

Dave is completing my family room av installation as I type this review. He is the only person I called based on yelp reviews. I called a little after 6 pm on a Monday and he called right back to accommodate me on.the Friday of the same week. He had a very professional yet friendly demeanor. His enthusiasm to do things the right way and not cut corners is greatly appreciable. He had to make multiple trips underneath the home into the crawl space to drill through the baseboard and pull wires for 5 speakers, 2 subs and a Tv. The full job took more than a day and a half to complete and the second trip was from 5 pm to 10 pm the following Wednesay. The good part is that he did not leave me without a functionng system when he had to wind up the first day (Friday) job. Everything with the exception of the surr spkrs were plugged in and working. He even agreed to put in a recessed receptacle for the refrigerator without hesitation as an add on job. Of course I paid for it at the end of the day. Dave has great attitude and even at the late night hour didn't wink for a second when I reminded him of a small leftover item to trim the sw cable. It's not everyday that we come across professionals that perform not just their best work but deliver an exceptional customer experience. At the end if the day, although it cost be about 30% more than the original quote and quite frankly more than I had hoped, he did a great job, and to his defense put n man. Stars I asked forin the former bonding posts on the wall, 20' ft professional HDMI cable and an additional subwoofer outlet and Cable. What's more, he even said he would come back and fix a bad power outlet that was covered up by the prev owner of my home in a very shabby way. He was very thorough, knowledgeable, very reasonably priced, and a pleasure to work with. I've dealt with many contractors and Dave is just the best. He took additional time to make sure everything was just right and went above and beyond by organizing and securing not only his wiring but also Comcast and the phone company's messy cables too. He also spent extra time to do the audio set up for me and tested everything. He answered all of my questions and had great recommendations for me. Dave was great!!! We have a complex system in our living room, it has always been buggy and after it being out for 4 months and getting no help from original installer, we found Dave on Yelp. Dave of Zion AV is fast, responsive, and very knowledgeable. Best of all, he knows what he's doing. He installed outdoor speakers on my patio and connected them to my receiver. Even though my house had a small attic and a cross beam blocking the route from the speakers to the receiver, Dave made it work. He also ran a phone cord from my DirecTV DVR through the crawl space underneath the house to my Internet router so that I could access OnDemand. I called Dave to have a new plasma hung on the wall, get new speakers, and have them installed in the ceiling. Dave came right over and after we discussed our options, we decided to just buy new speakers and have them installed in the ceiling. Dave was very patient as we took our time making a decision and was flexible in scheduling the installation. On the day of the installation, Dave encountered several issues with the spacing and placement of the speakers. After a full day of trying to make it work, we finally came to the conclusion that in-ceiling speakers were not viable. Despite the frustration of not being able to do the job we had originally planned, Dave was very good about laying out other options and then working with us to make it happen. At the end of the day, we didn't get what we originally planned, but we are happy with the final result. I would definitely use Dave for my future A/V needs. read more
