We wanted to…read moreexplore Monterey Bay, Carmel, and the surrounding wineries and this was a good location to accomplish all of those things easily. When we arrived check in was quick and the employee was kind. We booked a corner Bay view for the three nights we were there and quickly given the keys. Of course you can also use the Hilton app to choose your room prior to arriving but I prefer human interaction in some instances, this being one of them. The room itself was nice and spacious. Two rooms, one being the bedroom and bathroom, the other the living area and wet bar. The living area had a balcony which was nice and we had a view of the bay from almost every room. (one faced north that did not). The views were great to wake up to, and wind down with, catching the sunset once (the other times were cloudy at sunset). My complaint which resulted a 4 star instead of 5 was because the windows are so thin. Every bit of road noise wasn't muted at all, and we were on the 10th floor corner with the two streets intersecting. It made it difficult for noise sensitive sleepers like me (I always carry a white noise machine with me and it still didn't drown everything out) to sleep in much. The bed itself I found comfortable and the pillows were good. There is a TV in the bedroom as well. The bathroom requires you pass through a closet area which is nice but the kind of awkward part was if you used the bathroom you had to shut the door to the closet first. First world problems. They have a managers reception each night we were there and I went mostly to see what they had which was usually some veggies, a spread of some sort (hummus one night), crackers, chips, and some cheeses. Nothing really interesting. You also have some drinks included in the reception. You can pay more for higher quality drinks. The breakfast in the morning was mostly eggs, fruits, some meats, potatoes, and a made to order omelet station. I enjoyed the fruits and potatoes which they have some hot sauces if you are interested. I was. SCW said the coffee was ok. There is a walking/running/biking trail just outside the hotel that takes you into town and further. We used this trail a few times and really enjoyed it. You can go to the beach from the trail over a switchback trail over sand dunes which gives some great views of both the bay and the surrounding area. We used the gym once, which was fine, three treadmills, a few stationary bikes and free weights with a few machines. Gets the job done. The employees I interacted with were always helpful and kind. I'd recommend staying at Embassy Suites Monterey Bay.

Beautiful decor--Nice dark wood furniture, beautifully painted walls accompanied with great quality carpet! I loved how the appliances matched the decor very well The sink was sparkling clean with an amazing stylish looking mirror! It was simply pretty. I have to add, the soap, body wash and shampoo dispensers were very pretty too, very classy looking-- real "penthouse " look! I love that the washcloths were displayed in a "floral" style-fold!! The bed was covered in stains, clearly had not been cleaned. We asked for a refund and were only refunded 2 of our 3 nights since we had already checked in even though we were there less than 10 minutes. We have stayed in some pretty run down hotels/motels but this was truly the worst of the worst for us.

When I called back down they sent maintenance quite quickly- but of course the flush worked just fine for him. Go figure. (We appreciated the quick response!) I assume it was a clog from the previous guest. My bed was comfortable and renovation fortunately wasn't overly disruptive on the noise front. We didn't use any of the amenities but the hotel was in a decent location in terms of distance to point of interest. There was a tent popped up right behind the walkway to the marsh area though. If you just need a place to shut your eyes, this was a decent option.

So naturally we decided to take an impromptu road trip up the California coast on a holiday weekend with ZERO reservations. Yes. That was our brilliant plan. To be fair, we knew exactly what we were getting ourselves into. Hotel availability would be about as scarce as the leftovers back at home. But honestly? The adventure was the point. We ended up booking this hotel with a "standard room" while sitting in a restaurant eating dinner. My husband kept saying, "It's just one night. BOOK IT" and so I did. When we arrived, the woman at the front desk was incredibly kind and welcoming. She let us know they only had one room left and the bed was a full-size instead of a queen or king. I frowned and my husband gave me the universal exhausted husband look of, I truly do not care, I need sleep. The front desk agent even offered to let us look at the room first and said if we didn't like it, we could cancel with no penalty. That alone was appreciated. Now, I'm not going to lie the setup gave very classic roadside motel vibes. Open walkways, doors facing outside, the kind of place where someone could walk right up from the street to your room. I did my little internal cringe...but I knew Mr. Sleepy Pants wanted to sleep. We checked out the room, accepted our fate, and stayed. The room itself was actually very clean and comfortable. It had both a fridge and microwave, which was a nice surprise. I also asked for extra blankets because even at home in our king size bed we somehow fight like survivalists over blanket territory, and she happily gave us plenty. There was also a small concession area with snacks, which was convenient after a long drive. At the end of the day, if you're passing through and just need a clean, comfy place to sleep for the night, I honestly see nothing wrong with this property. Sometimes road trips aren't about luxury they're about the memories you laugh about later.

Our only negative was that we were given the first room next to the entrance and stairwell, which was not fun to hear folks stomping up and down the stairs and slamming the doors. On Friday morning, several people we knew were awoken by the "active shooter drill" announcement at 8:00am. I understand this will happen on a naval academy base, but I wish we were warned about upon check-in just so we were aware and not startled in the morning.

The room comes with fridge, microwave, TV. 1) The location is a plus, it's close to everything, and the street is also quiet at night. 2) Parking is free and conveniently located right in front of the room. While there are no designated parking spots, there are two spaces in front of every room, so parking is not an issue. 3) The heater/AC worked well, heating or cooling the room within minutes. However, the unit is loud while operating. The heater operates based on temperature. When our room was cold, we turn on heating and upped the temperature, so it was warm. But once the room reaches the same temperature as the heater temperature, it actually blows cold air instead of warm air. Thus, you probably can't leave it on overnight without it cooling the room after warming it up 4) The bed is soft, but extremely squeaky and makes noise with every movement. Housekeeping is available daily and can change the bedsheets and pillowcases upon request. 5) The restroom is supplied with 3 light switches, easily brightens up the entire restroom. The water appeared clean, and the water pressure was strong. Towels were replaced daily. 6) Wi-Fi is free, but was unstable during our stay and frequently disconnected. Overall, it's one of the affordable choices around, with a clear mix of pros and cons.

Right after we left my bank card was charged $200.00 and when I called the front desk the lady was very rude, and would not listen to what I had to say. So that next day I called back and the same lady answered the phone but with a bigger attitude. But at least she did hear me out this time. But then today called and the rude lady says "oh you're the one that keeps calling about the 200.00 refund". Then she lied and said her cleaning people said that they smelled drugs in the room but we don't do any type of drugs. But they never called to tell me nothing I had to keep calling and dealing with the rudeness of these people. And there still not giving me back my money I asked for the information to file a complaint and they said that I had to email them at the hotel and they will look at to see if a complaint can be made. My advice to everyone is check their accounts because after talking to a few other people they said how the same place got them like that too. Just because am young does not mean you can advantage of people. Yes, I want to know if I can have the information to the management team because when I was on the phone going back-and-forth with your front desk lady in between her being rude, she act like she wasn't trying to hear what I had to say at first it wasn't until our call back the third time and she was listening to me and she made it seem like if we email the Inn they will take it in consideration if they feel like it was a complaint or not, and if it would get passed through to whoever he needs to go to, because I asked for information to file a formal complaint and as of yet they have not called me or told me anything. Because at this point, I am starting to get upset and frustrated when I should be celebrating my happy news, but if I have to, I will have to take legal action because they are trying to accuse me of something that definitely did not happen if you would like to continue on this conversation please me back or send me your information and we can go from there.

We enjoyed their rooftop spa overlooking the bay- next level. The entrance to the hotel opens up to a beautiful first floor with ocean view, large fireplace, sofas and seating areas, and a small bar. During our visit we had the pleasure to discover a highly talented artist by the name of Adrea, who has the most incredible voice and presence. We were so impressed by her and were very fortunate that she performed both nights of our visit. It was a performance we would have gladly paid to see, she is a rising talent for sure. I can't state how exceptional our experience was to enjoy the music in such an elevated atmosphere, relaxing by the fire, enjoying the outstanding craft cocktails by their highly talented mixologist. Schooners is not to be missed, the food is as outstanding as the ocean view! A special mention to the superior customer care provided by Pracha, a guest service manager at the hotel, who is an absolute star.
