Great spot affordable and clean. The staff were amazing and very helpful. My Kids loved the pool and the room was spacious and clean. Refrigerator and microwave were great. We will go back soon.

Staff is so friendly, helpful and professional. This my second time staying here. I will continue to come back. The hotel is near the freeway, restaurants, Costco gas and a Safeway.

The backed tub that we were supposed to tolerate and also the reason we got charged and extra charge to move to another room. Wrong!

This place is awful! I reserved 3 rooms, spent 2k for these. We checked into 1 and the bathtub didn't drain. They told it does within 30 min. Disgusting. So then they gave us a different room and charged $100 more. Literally got no sleep last night. It sounds like a flipping zoo all night!!! . Seriously a party or escort service above us!!! Constant stomping, people coming and going, people hanging outside in running cars and cars periodically honking a set amount of times intermittently. I will not and cannot stay another night. Unfortunately the rest of our party will stay and we will be finding another hotel to stay in for the rest of our visit.

Instant check-in (in and out of the front office within a minute), dedicated parking lot, indoor pool area attached to a small recreation space with a vending machine, ice machine, and a few tables/seating inside (room key required to enter this area). The room clean and modern, with a fridge, microwave, hair dryer, iron, ironing board, wooden flooring, updated bathroom, bathroom amenities (soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion), temperature control unit, flat screen TV, outlets near the bedsides, comfy bedding, and pretty much anything and everything you would need for a pleasant stay, at an affordable price.

This review comes with happy tears in my eyes. Our family stayed at the motel during a music festival. Our youngest had his very special Pterodactyl with him, that he really can't sleep without. Pterodactyl somehow got left at the hotel and we didn't realize until we had driven the 4 1/2 hours home. We thought we had lost Teri the pterodactyl for good. .... Then comes the hero to this post, MENFIS, the motel manager! She tracked down Teri, and mailed him home, WITH NEW FRIENDS. She went above and beyond and I cannot thank her enough!! The motel was clean, convenient, etc. but the real star of the place is MENFIS! Thank you

Very good value for money. Staff is indeed friendly the motel is in a busy road so expect to hear some traffic noise.

This is a good little motel, they have updated the rooms, but it still looks dated outside. But it is a clean and comfy place to stay.

Good location for me but seemed a little sketchy. Lots of trash on the backside. Can't get any closer to the fairgrounds that is for sure!

We enjoyed their rooftop spa overlooking the bay- next level. The entrance to the hotel opens up to a beautiful first floor with ocean view, large fireplace, sofas and seating areas, and a small bar. The hotel offers a nightly happy hour and musical performances. During our visit we had the pleasure to discover a highly talented artist by the name of Adrea, who has the most incredible voice and presence. We were so impressed by her and were very fortunate that she performed both nights of our visit. It was a performance we would have gladly paid to see, she is a rising talent for sure. I can't state how exceptional our experience was to enjoy the music in such an elevated atmosphere, relaxing by the fire, enjoying the outstanding craft cocktails by their highly talented mixologist. Schooners is not to be missed, the food is as outstanding as the ocean view! A special mention to the superior customer care provided by Pracha, a guest service manager at the hotel, who is an absolute star. And yes, the long review is a love letter to the Monterey Plaza Hotel, until next time!

The lobby has an older, vintage feel to it, which gave it some charm. Unfortunately, the check in experience wasn't the best. The front desk receptionist wasn't very friendly or welcoming, so it didn't exactly start our trip on a positive note. Our room with two queen beds was pretty standard, but it was clean and had a beautiful view overlooking the water, which was definitely the highlight. The service throughout our stay was pretty disappointing. I called the front desk to ask for extra bath towels, and after waiting 30 minutes with nothing delivered, I had to call again. They finally arrived another 20 minutes later, which seemed way too long for such a simple request. The shower was also confusing because the hot and cold labels were reversed, and the water pressure was extremely weak. Neither of those things ruined the trip, but they definitely made the stay less enjoyable. We also ordered room service around 7:30pm. Jerry, who took our order, was very friendly and told us it would take about 45 minutes. An hour later there was still no food, so I called back around 8:45. Jerry apologized, checked on the order, and said it would be another 10 minutes before offering to personally bring it up. I appreciated his effort, but waiting well over an hour for room service was frustrating. To make matters worse, they already charge a service fee and then tack on an additional 20% service charge. The food wasn't worth the wait either. The ceviche lacked flavor and the portion was tiny, the ahi tuna wraps were just okay and didn't taste very fresh, and the Wagyu burger was dry and underwhelming. The fries were probably the best thing we ordered. Overall, I don't see myself staying here again, and next time I'd rather book the InterContinental instead.

When we decided to extend our stay by an extra night, our harbor-view room wasn't available for the additional night, but they went out of their way to make it work so we didn't have to switch rooms. We really appreciated that! Parking was also very reasonably priced at $25, especially compared to other hotels in the area. The room itself was spacious, the bed was very comfortable (firm, just how we like it), and the harbor view was absolutely perfect. We were a little concerned after reading reviews about the sea lions being noisy, but we actually loved hearing them from the balcony! Once the balcony door was closed, we couldn't hear them at all, and they never disturbed our sleep. One of our favorite perks was the complimentary binoculars available to guests--they were a fun touch for watching the harbor. And don't miss the sunrise from the fourth-floor rooftop terrace--it's absolutely beautiful! There were just a few minor things that could be improved. The hotel only has one elevator, and it can be quite slow during busy times. We also wish the freshly baked cookies were available throughout the day. They were put out around 3:00 p.m., but they disappeared almost immediately because they were so popular. When we arrived, our room temperature was around 78°F. We called the front desk to ask about the A/C and were told someone would come up. Security arrived and explained that the hotel doesn't have air conditioning, so the options are to use the fan or open the balcony door. It would have been helpful if the front desk had shared that information when we called. We left the screened balcony door open while we were out the next day, and the room cooled down nicely. The only other thing we wished the room had was a microwave. Overall, these were very minor issues compared to everything we loved about our stay. The location, views, comfortable rooms, and outstanding customer service made for a wonderful experience.

This was our second time staying in Monterey and I had been looking forward to staying at this hotel someday. It was everything I imagined and more! The service was exceptional from the valet to the bellhop to registration and restaurant staff. We are also IHG elite members and we were given a room upgrade with a thoughtful card and gift for our anniversary. Our room was facing the ocean on Cannery Row with a balcony. It was a very nice, spacious and clean room with alot of thoughtful attention like providing refillable water bottles, robes and an amazing Nespresso machine. There was also a wine bar and snacks available for purchase. The hotel had a wonderful scent throughout and we enjoyed walking through the ocean vibes staircase featuring a jellyfish. Definitely look for that! We loved having our anniversary dinner at The C Restaurant, but that will be another well earned review on it's own. However, we did have two negative experiences, one was that we waited a bit too long for our car at the valet once and there was an accidental spa charge on our receipt when checking out. I still gave them 5 stars because they rectified it right away and even removed the valet charge for us, which was much appreciated. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had a warm charm that made it easy to relax after a day of exploring the city. One of the highlights of our stay was how the hotel carried such a unique atmosphere and history. It wasn't just a place to sleep--it felt like part of the adventure. Between the ocean views, cozy spaces, and local touches, it really captured the spirit of Monterrey. And then there were the ghost stories. Whether you're a believer or just love a good tale, they add an extra layer of fun and mystery to the stay. If you're someone that believes (or not), go to the front desk and ask for the "book". It had 78 pages of first hand accounts of unexplained happenings from guests. We had a very small moment ourselves, while I was sharing what I uncovered about the ghosts with my significant other in the morning, suddenly the bathroom light just turned on. Nobody was around and they do run on sensors. Not a significant event but certainly was well timed. Overall, Hotel Del Monte struck the perfect balance between comfort, history, and a touch of playful spookiness. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Monterrey that has access to a military installation--especially if you're looking for more than just a hotel, but a memorable experience.

The interior is also gorgeous, and it's amazing how well they've kept up the history of this place. We stayed in a queen suite, which was very outdated. Because of how old the buildings are, there is no A/C, which is typically fine, but we happened to be there on one of the warmest days of the year. Our room had an odd smell to it, and the amenities are pretty minimal. However, we expected this due to the age of the building. Our only negative was that we were given the first room next to the entrance and stairwell, which was not fun to hear folks stomping up and down the stairs and slamming the doors. On Friday morning, several people we knew were awoken by the "active shooter drill" announcement at 8:00am. I understand this will happen on a naval academy base, but I wish we were warned about upon check-in just so we were aware and not startled in the morning.
