Bay City is lucky to have this restaurant that serves fresh creative dishes and at decent prices to boot. We drove down from another town because we couldn't find a restaurant that wasn't serving anything more than deep fried foods and burgers. The Gnudi did not disappoint and came with a boatload of fresh chanterelles. My partner had the Italian beef sandwich which was great but the house giardeniera did make the sandwich a little on the salty side. In addition to indoor dining they have about 7 picnic tables outside which was convenient for us since we had our dog with us. What a fun find on my trip! The Sunday supper was a wonderful treat. You can always tell when people who love food are preparing it for you. These people love food. A perfectly dressed salad. WOW! What a hidden gem located in Bay City, Oregon. My husband and I were craving a sit down fresh meal and we found Bay City Kitchen on Yelp. We were lucky enough to come on a Sunday and be able to order their pre fix Sunday dinner three course dinner. My husband had the beef brisket and I had the veggie lasagna. At $35 per plate and locally sourced ingredients this meal is a STEAL! The salad was fresh and lite, dinner was flavorful and large portions, and the peach Melba ended the meal on such a sweet note! There is indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating you may be at a large table with another party. You pay upfront and service yourself with water and table wear. Thanks Yelp for introducing me to this spot. Was passing the area and decided to stop by for lunch. It's a small operation of 2, so the service is personal (albeit a little slow during lunch rush). But the food is definitely worth the wait! I got the meatball sub and the flavors were on point, the bread was toasted so it's crunchy yet soft inside. Definitely would order this again! My friend got the kimchi fried rice and she thought it was pretty good, although we saw a lot of locals ordering the gnudi. Getting that next time! What a delightful find. They provide both indoor and outdoor seating. The ingredients are largely local. Today, the Hubbs and I shared several dishes. We started with a cup of the salmon chowder - made with a yummy fish stock base. We would have been perfectly happy with a bowl of this and some bread. The Caesar salad was made with local greens and had hazelnuts and pickled red onion. We also shared the brat platter with fresh-made sauerkraut and German potatoes. Then we shared the lasagna. This place is absolutely precious! I have driven by several times since they opened last summer (July? 2023) and decided to stop in on my way out of town - I am not sorry!! I ordered the house made ricotta dumplings (fantastic) and grabbed a container of "Feel Good Broth" from the grab and go freezer (have not tried yet, but it is going to be a real treat, I'm sure). There is a rotating menu so check the website before you go. The pastry case is beautiful and if they have the brown sugar shortbread cookies, GET THEM. This place is amazing, and so are the people who operate the restaurant. The food wasn't of the typical fried variety like so many of the offerings in the area, and everything seems to be made fresh daily. We were told the menu rotates, and today we had the Vegetable Parmesan, which was reminiscent of lasagna, the crab fried rice, and the blackberry pie (which included other fruits as well, which seem to be sourced locally). The Kitchen - we tried it & we are in love. The chef, Derek & pastry chef, Kathy create really amazing food. We had the lasagne & Lin cod which were both wonderful & we started out with a kale salad which I'm still dreaming about. Our server, Juliann was wonderful too. The wine & beer selections were nice. HAIR IN OUR FOOD I love supporting smaller restaurants so I was excited to try this place when in the area. The great reviews lured us in. After eating half of the main dish I discovered a long black hair on the bottom of my plate (for the record my hair is blond). We showed the hair to the server. She asked if there was something she could do for us. You can decide for yourself what a restaurant should do in such situations, but I think the money should be refunded for the meal (we had to pay for our food when we ordered it by the counter). I didn't ask for a refund as I simply felt bad and was beyond disgusted. Unfortunately, our disappointing experience didn't end there. While the sever took my plate away, my boyfriend gave their apple strudel a shot. Guess what, another hair! We stood up to leave, and the server approached us again and we explained there was another hair, this time in our dessert. The server said that she didn't know how that happened because she is wearing a hair covering and her hair was short. Ok. I never said it was her hair as this was beyond the point. Again, no refund offered. I have never had anything like that happen before and did not want to cause a scene. We just left. read more

Regarding the meatball sandwich: The bread is perfect, the balance of holding together great with substance, being soft and managing the sauce great, and a crisp hot outside, they nailed it. Gooey cheese over the top. The meatballs are divine. Tender, so flavorful they still hold their own too. The sauce is sublime. I still can't believe I got this quality in a rural spot, I'm giddy with it. I'm a 'foodie' who scoured Portland and loved all the food there, and to be blunt, this restaurant would still hold up as exceptional even among that scope. Especially because it's 'mom and pop', cozy but spacious, casual but profoundly delicious. It just doesn't get better than this. Service was patient and wonderful. I was pretty high maintenance (with good intentions) and they were gracious. The view of the Bay is terrific, catching a sunset there is going to be wonderful. One of the hardest things about living rural "don't blink or you'll miss it" town, even near a tourist area, is getting exceptional food. Living adjacent to high traffic tourist areas affords some lenience and variety, but even then there's always been quite a drive to ferret a few favs out. Managing expectations helps.
