We've been coming here for years. They have far more inventory than you would expect given their footprint on Main Street. The staff (often the family who owns the store) are always knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly. They're also priced competitively. My daughter is building a robot for her school's technology fair. I just bought some of the parts/tools from Bay and they even helped us figure out how to cut a few things to size. The customer experience is superb. Trips to Home Depot suck the life out of me, leaving me in an aimless languor for hours. Trips to Bay Hardware? It's like a nail spa (I can't believe I just wrote that). Even if you're not in Seal Beach, Bay Hardware is worth a drive. Highly recommended. read more

Bay Hardware has been on Main Street as long as I have been around town (nearly 40 years). When the family sold it I expected service to drop and no longer have that small town, friendly feel. Not so fast buster. The new family, headed by a delightful young lady named Diana, has taken over completely, adding her on stamp to the business but not losing any of the old-school mannerisms we were used to in a neighborhood shop. The helpers are knowledgeable and available yet not in your face about buying something and moving on. My most recent purchase was a BBQ that i caught on sale, just slightly over what I might have paid at a big-box or online but guess what? Not only was it in stock,on sale: they finished the assembly and BROUGHT IT TO MY APT. (without even asking). That's what I call service- and well worth the pennies extra to get it locally. I can't say enough about the guys that work here! I have a store a few doors down and they go above and beyond to help me out with anything I need. I get all of my supplies here and it's very rare that they don't have something that I need. Manny has gone so far as to catch a spider in my store and let it go out side because I hate to kill them. They have a great small town vibe and really appreciate their customers. I had a rack in my store break and Alex came over to help me fix it. I needed a very tiny screw and when I walked in to Bay Hardware the young lady who was the aisle waiting to greet and help customers got right on my request and went beyond what I needed and fixed my item even better that I could. I am a part time resident of Seal Beach and could go elsewhere for my hardware needs but do not. I was riding my bike and forgot to bring my lock and the employee told me I could bring my bike right into the store while I was being serviced. That would never happen in Los Angeles, where I also live. Time and again when I go into the bay hardware I get greeted, serviced, and the employees even have time for "small talk". Having grown in a small town I appreciate this throwback to an earlier time in America when most towns had Mom and Pop businesses that catered to the customer. I love the diversity of items in the store, and above all the way the staff go above and beyond to make sure your experience was so good you would never think of going anywhere else for your hardware needs.
