Outside of that, the rooms were fine from a space consideration and there is a lot of nice outdoor space. You do have access to a grill so that's nice, just make sure to bring your own charcoal and firewood for the public fire pits that overlook the bay. There is no A/C but they do offer fans in both rooms. Fortunately the weather broke right before we got there so instead of hot and humid it was cool and dry. The outdoor space was nice because we had access to overlook the bay and with a small walk we were able to get to the water. Not sure it's ideal for any kind of swimming but you do have access which is nice. Overall it was a nice stay, but I don't feel that I would want to spend more than 2 nights here total. It's a personal preference as I enjoy more space.

Cabins are very cute and rustic, but have wifi, small kitchen, and bathrooms with running water. There are two larger houses on the property for rent, along with several cabins ranging from 1 to 2 bedroom. This would be a perfect spot to rent with a group of friends/family and be close to one another while still maintaining some of your own space. Each cabin has a grill, and there are two firepits on the property along with picnic tables. The location itself is great. You're somewhere in between Bar Harbor and Winter Harbor where you can easily access both sides of Acadia National Park. Bar Harbor is only about a 40 min drive and there's a ton to see on Route 3 on the way over. Be sure to check out Flander's Bay BBQ on weekends and Dunbar's Store down the road!

Unfortunately, we arrived, exhausted after a long drive, to the loud sounds of the dehumidifier and window A/C unit. Every foot step and voice could be heard from other rooms. Our room (lodge #19) was clean but extremely outdated and poorly maintained. The wallpaper was peeling in multiple areas and the door seal was not secure, allowing for multiple bugs to come in throughout the night. Even with the A/C unit and dehumidifier off, the loud sounds from the road and airport nearby made for a very unpleasant sleep. If you're a light sleeper, this is absolutely not the place for you. Additionally, the bathroom had multiple carpenter ant holes and the bathroom dial for hot and cold water had to be turned around in nonsensical ways for the water to warm up. The beds were very hard and springy, making it difficult to rest for someone with back issues. Immediately, we knew we would be unable to get any rest here for 4 nights. I called the 24-hour service number and explained to them the issues with the room. I really appreciate how quickly they resolved the issue and offered us a full refund for the nights we were no longer going to stay. They were very professional throughout the whole time and Aaron adjusted our stay on Airbnb so our refund could be processed promptly. After 1 sleepless night, we checked out. While the staff were amazing, this place in need of serious renovations and I would not recommend for anyone who is looking for a relaxing room to decompress and rest in.

The dehumidifier and mini split ac unit in the room provided nice white noise so we couldn't hear any traffic/airport/human noise from outside at all and the temperature was comfortable. It wasn't too bright in the room in the morning. The hot tub was so nice to soak each night after hiking in Acadia, and we loved taking advantage of the fire pit two of the nights. The staff were wonderful and other guests were kind. The hotel has an ice machine and a water cooler in the main lodge, and they have snacks, dog treats, hot coffee and baked goods in the main lodge. They also have smores kits, games, puzzles, books, and just about anything else you could need, as well. WiFi worked well in our cabin. I'd be cautious about relying on many of the other, negative reviews on this website as many of them are outdated and the property seems to have made many improvements responsive to them. Location is awesome, too - pretty much equidistant between Bar Harbor and Ellsworth so you have plenty of dining options, and very close to Acadia for hiking, etc. Look no further and stay here! Prices are very fair for what you get.

They have a little snack bar in the front where you can purchase food for breakfast, lunch and dinner- little easy food so you don't have to go very far. They have cokes, coffee and teas. The front staff were very helpful and friendly. The pool and scenery were great. Highly recommended !

A B&B that is timeless!…read more My husband and I were cruising the coast of Maine and were lucky enough to get the last available room at the Oceanside Meadows Inn. We heard about the Schoodic Peninsula on Chronicle and had to see it for ourselves. We didn't book anything before we left home because we decided to throw caution to the wind and let the knowledge of the Yelp community and the availability of Hotels Tonight be our guide. It worked well! First, the Oceanside Meadows Inn is an Old Sea Captain's house. It's not a "renovated" Sea Captain's house (which, I believe, would ruin the charm) so don't expect fancy schmancy designer curtains and hot tubs. It is exactly the way it should be. There is mismatched furniture and trinkets and a telescope and a piano and board games and lots of floral bedding and chopped wood and, and, and...I could go on. Second, if you're an old soul at heart, you will come to understand the Peninsula and know that Oceanside Meadows is a perfect representation of what the area is all about. It's raw and charming and historic and no, please don't ever replace those old creaky windows and that beautiful glass. The beds are comfortable and we could hear the lapping of the ocean outside our window (I slept through the night which is something I never do) and although others have mentioned small bathrooms, our bathroom had a shower and although it wasn't a huge bathroom, it was fine. We actually did not have time to go over to the beach area across the street (the weather wasn't great either) but the view is stunning and you will most likely have the beach to yourselves when you stay there. I'll be honest about breakfast. I didn't really eat much of it. I can't eat chilled fruit soup in the morning (my husband liked it) and they incorporate nature into the menu (think edible flowers) so it's interesting but I'm kind of immature when it comes to eating stuff like that so I can't really write a review about it. I still loved having tea from the vintage teacup and I did eat a whole grain waffle, which was good. I'm not one to "request" something else (breakfast isn't a biggy for me anyway) but they were very accommodating so I'm sure I could have asked for something else. We were in kind of a hurry so when Ben told the guests to meet him in the cottage to discuss things to do in the area we were going to try and sneak out beforehand but I'm so glad we got caught because it was the BEST. The history and knowledge he has of the area is unbeatable. We had the best lobster roll for lunch because of him and we saw some beautiful areas because of his suggestions that we otherwise would have never seen. Oceanside was really a perfect spot to stop and absorb the Peninsula and appreciate its history. One more thing. The owners left a book on the bed for us when we arrived. It was called The Peninsula (by Louise Dickinson Rich) and it's all about...wait for it...the Schoodic Peninsula. It's an oldie but my husband found it in a used bookstore a few days later and I am now the proud owner of it. If you love the area, I highly recommend that you read it. It's the little things in life that make all the difference.

Maybe you're not a B&B person (I wasn't); you'll still enjoy the breakfast. Like the previous reviewer said, the entire peninsula is a quiet, early-to-bed sort of place without much in the way of dining or nightlife. However, you are a five minute drive from your own secret national park - Acadia National Park's Schoodic Peninsula. Without the hype and crowds of the bigger park an hour car (or ferry) ride away, but with just as many rocky shorelines, and a few rooty trails, this little park is a hidden gem. The people staying at the B&B seemed to be more the hiking, biking, canoeing type than city slickers looking for a cute town to shop in (see: Bar Harbor instead). The sleepy town aside, the grounds of the B&B are beautiful, 2 or 3 big houses with some old shuttered cottages, a greenhouse and foresty trails in back, a private strip of beach across a tiny street. I didn't find the decor all that odd - I expected a B&B to look like a crazy grandmother's house with floral wall paper and quilts and doilies - and that's what you get. Multiple common living rooms, a kitchen for cooking (since there are no vegan-friendly restaurants within an hour radius), all in the same building as our room. You have to be a little comfortable dealing with other guests, and I imagine you could have a bad night if they were a little rowdy since none of the rooms are sound-proof at all. Our room had a nice and comfy king bed, private bath/shower, no A/C but the temperature was perfect in the night in August with the windows open. I can't comment on how it would feel in other seasons, but they did have heaters lining the walls for cooler months. No TV, wifi seemed to work for us but was a little slow. Cell phone reception was spotty for the entire peninsula. The best part of the stay - the three course breakfast every morning. I believe it's always vegetarian, and can be made vegan (the chef is very accomodating), in our two days we had various fruit soups, french toast, bundt cakes, and an egg (substitute) florentine, along with fruit drinks and coffee/tea. I really enjoyed the creativity of presentation, the edible flowers, and it was so good that you have to eat it all and then go outside and expend enough energy in the great outdoors to work it off. Even though I'm fairly certain I'm not a B&B person (not the biggest fan of chatting with strangers) I definitely would recommend it if you happen to be in the area or want to escape the crowds of Bar Harbor.

David made us very welcome when we arrived and gave us the orientation talk on the island, giving us a couple of local newspapers and marking down worthwhile sights on the maps before showing us to our 'cottage'. I'd actually describe the cottage as more of a beach hut (we had one of the smaller ones), but it had everything in it and was only a few yards from the water's edge with great views over Salisbury Cove. There was a porch with chairs and table where you could sit and watch the sunset. Very pleasant. Inside, the cottage was scrupulously clean, there is a small kitchen area with stove and coffee maker etc. if you wanted to eat in. It could have done with an electric kettle to make tea with, although you could use the coffee maker to boil water I guess. There's a small heater in the wall that we used a few times as we had a couple of rainy days during our stay. Best of all was the shower - great water pressure and piping hot. A great start to the morning. Followed by a cup of complementary coffee from reception, we were all set to go and explore. So thanks to David and Jayne - we really enjoyed our few days here and would gladly return in future.

When I brought this to Jayne's attention, she immediately became irate, saying she was "sick of this shit" , evidently this had happened throughout her summer. After ranting and yelling, she told us to "just go to your fucking cottage." This reservation was to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, and she knew this. I asked for a refund of our deposit, as there was no way I was staying here. She then proceeded to swear as her husband and son tried to calm her down. She even hit her husband twice while she screamed at me asking if I was calling her a "fucking liar?" We left. This was too horrible to understand and obviously unsafe, to say the least. They refused to refund the deposit we had sent them in good faith. Do NOT stay here. It's not safe.

Other than that, this place is amazing and we'll come back and recomend it to friends and families. P.S. Bonus to the front row seat to the Harbor's 4th of July firework! The sunset and sunrise views are magical here.

It was the most luxurious place I'd ever stayed! Tucked off the main street in Southwest Harbor, this is a quiet little spot with well maintained grounds and amazingly organized cabins. Top notch bed and pillows. It's about a twenty minute drive to Bar Harbor, but it's easy and quick once you get the feeling of the layout. The "office" has extra swimming towels, movies, and books about Acadia. It's really awesome how the owners, Tom and Vickie, care about their customers. A downside was barely seeing the owners! We went in during their office hours but didn't see them. We received an invoice, and I was sad to not chat within our 48 hours of staying there. The 10am check out also was pretty brutal. You also clean your own cabin, which is okay, but we made breakfast and tea- doing dishes while packing up and paying the expensive price before 10? That was not great. It's pricey here, but it's so luxurious and beautiful, it's worth the splurge.
