Has a mini kitchenette, a beautiful location with some chairs across the road to sit and look at the ocean and friendly owners. Stay here. The team/owners are great. Order a cup of coffee in the barn. Borrow their oyster knife and pick up some Bar Harbor Blonde oysters (sold just up the road on the honor system) for a snack. Relax by the water. Use your cabin as a home base for enjoying the island and Acadia NP. Go grab a lobster dinner at Thurstons lobster pound. And just...be. It's not the Four Seasons, which is part of what makes it great. read more

Convenient location for touring Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. The retro cabins are "spic and span" clean and the mini kitchen areas and drip coffee system makes wonderful hot coffee or tea for your morning wake up. The staff provide great recommendations for local attractions and places to visit away from the more crowded spots. For those that want to try paddle sports they provide paddle boards for the guests. All in all a great location for a Maine vacation. read more

Stayed here while visiting Acadia National Park. They were great about precautions for COVID-19, and made the stay very welcoming, clean, and comfortable. Of course, it is a small cottage not a fancy hotel -- but this is exactly what we wanted for our trip! We wanted to take in a true Maine experience and reviews said cottages were the way to go (there are a bunch in the area). Out of the ones I saw, I was thankful we were staying at Bay Meadow! Also, the bed was super comfortable and the linens were so soft. I was super happy and pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. We didn't get to use the paddle boards they let visitors take out, but this was a nice option that we wish we were able to do. If we ever visit the park again, we will definitely stay here again! read more

Our favorite place we stayed on our trip to the NE! At first I was disappointed to see we were outside of Bar Harbor, but waking up to the sunrise over the bay and going paddle boarding was magic. I loved the attention to detail making these small, efficient cabins more special- fresh ground coffee with a pour over set up, beach towels, Adirondack chairs on the porch, and firewood for the fire pit. So special. Loved the main "office" area too where guests were hanging out and enjoying coffee and the amazing baked goods (I had the best blueberry scone of my life!) Note- be aware that the bathrooms are small and nothing fancy. read more

Stayed one night, wish we could have stayed longer. Steve, new owner since last year, visited with us as we sat looking out over the Salisbury Cove at low tide (we never did see high tide) in the evening. Cute cottage, all the needed utensils, etc. for the kitchen. Netflix streamed fine, if we could have just stayed awake to the end of the movie. We didn't, but another guest had a nice outdoor pit fire going with the free supplied firewood. We will go back and stay longer next time. This place was great, the owners are very sweet and accommodating. Lots of communal amenities like grills, lobster pots, unassigned fire pits, etc. parking is great, you can park next to your cottage, great for loading in and out. The kitchenette is perfect, has the essentials. If you want something with all the frills this place isn't for you. This is a more simple style of housing - and that's why I go to Maine. You can't beat these rates and the proximity to Bar Harbor. Enjoy! read more

Nice staff and good property location, but inside the cottages it is very campy. From the outside, the flower window boxes and decor are pretty. But inside, it does not feel fresh and clean; rather it is uncomfortable and unattractive. While it is relatively inexpensive, there are other local places with better quality that are even less expensive. Go for one of those other places. read more

The larger cabins seem to be nice but the one room cabin was cramped. At least for the one room think of it as glorified camping. I thought this is what I wanted when I booked but once I was there not so much. We ended up leaving early since we were done with Acadia and just felt too cramped here. If getting the one room be sure this is what you want, more of a camp feel. read more

We stayed one night at Bay Meadow and Steve and Kirsten were incredibly kind, accommodating, and full of information about the area. We got in later than expected and just a phone call to them had our keys arranged and they made sure we were able to access the cottage and said to let them know if we needed anything at any time. The cottage was clean, cute, and private. It had a great deck, and was exactly what we were hoping for. Plenty of room for two, even with the large, comfy, king size bed. The kitchen had everything we needed (kettle, utensils, mugs, and so on) and Steve and Kirsten were even so kind as to offer to grind our coffee for us. We are looking forward to returning and staying longer soon! read more

Thought it would be a cute/different place to stay by the water. It's ok. It's small but workable. The showers were updated, but to get warm water you had to turn the hot faucet on all the way, and it would pound on the fabric shower curtain.... leaving the bathroom floor with huge puddles. The bed was fine, pillows were flat. Grateful there was TV and internet. All in all, a decent place to stay, with a mini-kitchen (although, don't count on making your own coffee unless you can do instant), fire pit, swing chair, grills, pots for lobsters and your very own mini porch. It is nice that is near the bay, but I wouldn't say we could see it from our cottage windows. Although, it is a 10-15 minute trip to Bar Harbor and parking is not easy down there. If I were to go to Bar Harbor again, I would try to stay near downtown, there are a ton of inn's there, probably around the same price. read more

This is my 3rd time staying there, with the first two being 10+ years ago. Our stay last week was the first with the new owners (as of April 2017). The new owners are enthusiastic and helpful and eager to chat about anything you may want to know about the area. I think they're also fixing up some things, although I'm not sure entirely what since my previous stays were 10+ years ago so I don't know what previous owners may have fixed. They did mention upgrading the wifi. Now, the cabins are old and small, as is typical for most cabin businesses in the area. So, the ceilings, walls and floors could all use "updating" not to mention leveling the overall structure. The rest was fine though... what was pretty much brand new was the shower, fridge, microwave, electric hot water pot, toaster, AC. The bathroom sink was old and kitchen sink very old, but they all worked. I was wondering what to do about coffee; they provided a way to make it using the electric water heating pot and this filter holder (plus filter) you place on top of your coffee cup with the grains in it, then you pour the boiled water into it. It worked great! The dishes they provided were all in excellent condition, including the non-stick pot which didn't have any scratches (yet). The bed had average level of comfort compared to other hotels I've stayed in, no real problems, just lots of squeaking. The electric heater worked great for chilly evenings, and the AC worked great. They provided brand new (not even used once yet) charcoal Weber grills -- looks great, although we didn't use it (thought about it though). The location was good, very convenient to Bar Harbor, the park and everything else. It is nice being on the cove, but other than briefly sitting in the Adirondack chairs by the water, we didn't do much interaction with the cove. You can walk around there, although at low tide the clay-like bottom covered with sharp shells makes walking around well below the high tide mark pretty much impossible. (Stick to near the high tide mark.) The new owner intentionally removed all the TV's, so don't expect those. He explained that he expects most people will be more interested in using the wifi on their devices to stream whatever they want, and I am in agreement. The signal was strong and fast (I could download a Netflix movie for viewing within a few minutes), but frequently disconnected. I'm not sure why. We had 3 devices, and the iPad worked perfectly while my LG G4 flaked out all the time (every few minutes), and my wife's Moto X Pure flaked out once in a while. So, it could be some weird thing with the router having trouble interacting with different manufacturer's wifi hardware. I dealt with it by pressing the wifi button off and back on again, and I was back in 5 seconds later. It could be "just us" and nothing to worry about, but I thought I'd mention it. They did upgrade to give full wifi coverage over all cabins without having to do something annoying like walk outside and hang around near the office, so the expectation is it should be working well. Oh, and we didn't see any mice or ants. We do put food away in the fridge or container when not there, just in case, but there were no such issues. read more
