We felt welcome as soon as we walked up to the house and met Dave. He gave us a tour and showed us to our lovely (and large) room with a view of the vineyard. Dave and Donna have thought of anything you may need. There's a bar, 24-hr access to coffee, tea and water, board games, pool table, a mini indoor golf set, spacious outdoor seating to take in the beauty of the property or have a drink by one of the fire pits, even microwave popcorn! Dave made us a fabulous breakfast each morning and was super friendly as he presented each dish and chatted with us. If you're considering checking this place out, DO IT!!! We will definitely be back to spend more time at this fantastic east end gem.

Rating a new and more recent experience: We were staying in…read morePort Jefferson in May and were walking around town. We stopped by the bar at the Danford for a cocktail. I stood at the far end of the bar, belly up to it, opposite end of the hostess area, in order to order a drink and take it outside to sit on the dock area. There were empty chairs next to me that we could have sat at but didn't because our intention was to take the drinks outside, so we left the chairs for another customer. We acknowledge that the bartenders were busy but that is no excuse for completely ignoring customers waiting for service. No eye contact. No "we'll be right with you." Nothing. As if no one was standing there. I was there with a friend so my friend decided to stand at the other end of the bar hoping a bartender at the other end would acknowledge them and take our order. Divide and conquer. It became a joke as we waved to each other, waiting for one of the 4 bartenders to take our order. Meanwhile, the empty chairs next to where I was standing became occupied. The bartender asked those patrons for their order. At that point we had been standing there for at least 15 minutes, maybe longer. (We are patient to a fault and knew they were busy so we waited, longer than we should have.) We finally left but not before stopping at the hostess stand and giving feedback to the manager that was standing there with the hostess. The manager was in plain sight of the bar area and should have been more aware.

This was our first time traveling to my hometown with her from out of state, we were anxious about where to stay, and decided to spend a little extra money to stay somewhere that seemed nice and was in a good location from the ferry. HORRIBLE MISTAKE! We get into the room in the Driftwood area and there is about a 3 inch gap from the door to the floor, which made us both uneasy given the fact that we are traveling with a baby. Upon entering the room, the spacing was nice but the flooring and carpet was uneven, I kept tripping over grooves in the floor. The couch had stains on it and the floor felt dirty. Disgusting! Then, as a breastfeeding mother, I put our packaged/prepared breastmilk in the mini fridge. The following morning, we wake up to prepare a bottle for our daughter who is screaming to be fed at 5am, only to realize the milk is warm - everything is warm - the mini fridge was off. Then, I go to use the restroom, and the toilet breaks and is not flushing correctly. We called the front desk & they sent maintenance, the kind gentleman fixed the toilet and looked at the fridge and explained that he knows what the problem was, "housekeepers turn the fridge off and forgot to turn it back on". He explained it was not our fault and expressed sympathy for the OVER 20 OUNCES OF BREAST MILK THAT SUBSEQUENTLY WENT BAD!!!!!!!!!!! I called the front desk explaining my frustrations and they said the only thing they can do is refund my resort fee of $33 because I booked through a third party. We then called management later in the day and spoke to (i believe her name was) Gabby, the Operations Manager, who was extremely rude and not understanding. She explained that it was our fault that we did not look at the dial to the mini fridge and did not realize it was not on, to first time 8 week post partum parents who just lost ~2 days worth of milk. She continued saying that there is nothing they can do and that it was our faults. We are waiting for a call back from the General Manager, Claudia, who we were told would call us back on Monday (it's currently Wednesday and we have left 2 voicemails). I will provide updates. Thanks for nothing Danfords and thank you for making anxious first time parents feel blamed for having to stress pump milk out to feed their 8 week old and buy formula to try and supplement when 4 hours away from home.

It's about Uncle Charlie's will." This was delivered by a fellow guest who happened to be seated at the head of the table.... Anyway, as soon as you get seated they'll start whipping up some tucker for ya. We had crepes one morning and French toast the next; both were great. Staff was super friendly, chill, keen to give us tips on places to check out, directions on how to get there, etc. Good spot.

Rev Jim was super flexible with Zoom/Skype video chat meetings because of this, and I even had the opportunity to visit him for an in-person meeting at his home when I was in town at the Beacon Hermitage. I must say this is a beautiful, stunning, and artsy property if you get the chance to visit! We worked with Rev Jim for a couple of years leading up to the wedding where he provided us a questionnaire for my husband and I to fill out separately with some personal questions about our relationship so he could learn more about us as a couple. I highly recommend taking this seriously as he was able to truly personalize and incorporate our love into the ceremony this way! Rev Jim also provided a document listing the different types of ceremonies to select what suits us best. We aren't the most religious, but wanted a little mention of god's blessing to appease our family, and he nailed that. He was also very accommodating with having a couple of family members conduct a reading, as well as allow time for my step-sister (who is a musical theatre professional) to sing at the beginning of our ceremony. We also decided for our unity ceremony to do the handfasting which truly "tied the knot"! During our reception, we received so many compliments from our guests on his ceremony, and even had some friends ask if they can use him for their wedding!
