Check-in went smoothly and we had a very nice suite-like room with a kitchen, living room, bedroom, sink area, and bathroom. The bed was comfy, the HVAC controls worked fine, and the TV and WIFI were excellent. The shower temperature and pressure were perfect. However, there were some Annoying, Disappointing, and Absurd observations that impacted this three-star rating. What was Annoying? The bathroom fan and shower were guilty of annoyance in the first degree. When you turned on the light switch, the ceiling fan would slowly fire up and soon hit such a loud volume that I thought someone in the room next door was taking a shower. And then when we were taking our showers, there was a bizarre beeping noise that came from deep within the bowels of the plumbing system. Seriously, I thought it was an alarm or a phone beeping. What was Disappointing? Simply put, breakfast was disappointing. They had had the usual breakfast offerings -cereal, muffins, yogurt, fruit, and a waffle maker. But there were only two hot trays -scrambled eggs and sausage patties. The lack of hot choices when compared to comparable hotel breakfasts was disappointing. Oh, and the tray of bananas was empty for quite a while, and we gave up waiting for it to be replenished. What was Absurd? This hotel is in an open suburban space next to a shopping center and a movie theater. I looked out the window of my room and must have seen 75 available parking spots in the hotel lot. So, all that makes it particularly galling and absurd that the Marriott charges a $12/night parking fee. What's also annoying is that the fee is kind of hidden, and the cost was never directly vocalized when we checked in- just a "we'll take a credit card imprint for incidentals".

I never did the breakfast, but big respect for the great morning coffee! I did find that they do not keep the common areas very tidy. Might be a staffing issue, but there was trash in several areas including the stairwells and my last day I could clearly tell nobody had vacuumed the stairwell the entire time I was there. I did have housekeeping the third day of my stay/after my second night but it was not thorough- they just made the bed, left fresh towels, emptied the trash and ran my coffee cups through the dishwasher. Totally fine but No vacuuming ( there was stuff on the floor from my shoes the day before), did not leave any coffee in room and had clearly not wiped the bathroom vanity area down. I am not very messy so it was a non issue. Some of the people that stay here may be a little strange (maybe that is everywhere) as on my third morning, I opened my door and there was a balled up dirty sheet that someone had clearly intentionally left right there! There was some street parking but there was a garage in the back so we parked there. We didn't realize until after we parked that you cannot access the hotel from the garage so we walked down the hill to the front. Not a big deal but unexpected. We were traveling with our baby and we were able to fit a pack and play, all of our luggage, the stroller, and had plenty of room to comfortably move around. The kitchen had a full size fridge/freezer, sink, microwave, stovetop, and basic cooking and eating necessities. The room and common areas of the hotel were clean and well-maintained. All of the staff we interacted with were extremely friendly, professional, and welcoming. The hotel had a decent array of free breakfast each morning. They also had an indoor pool, basketball hoop, and plenty of parking. The hotel is also right around the corner from the Long Island Ducks field. They ended up playing while we were visiting, so we made an impromptu trip to watch a game and had a quick and easy walk to the stadium. Our stay at the Residence Inn Long Island Islip/Courthouse Complex was more than we expected. We would definitely return in the future if the price was right.

We reserved a large room block months in advance, trusting this hotel to provide a pleasant experience for our family and out-of-town guests. Instead, what should have been one of the happiest weekends of our lives became an unnecessary source of stress because of the hotel's poor conditions and lack of management. There were multiple issues affecting numerous guests throughout our room block, including unacceptable room conditions, cleanliness concerns, maintenance problems, and service failures. Rather than focusing on celebrating the wedding, our family spent valuable time trying to resolve problems that never should have occurred. The most disappointing part was the complete lack of accountability from hotel management. I left multiple voicemail messages requesting a return call and spoke with numerous staff members, each assuring me that a manager would contact me. That call never came. Not once. Days later, I still had received no response, no apology, and no acknowledgment of the issues our guests experienced. I have since escalated to the corporate office. As the mother of the bride, I was mortified that our family and friends--many of whom traveled a great distance to celebrate with us--were subjected to these conditions. It was incredibly embarrassing to have to apologize to guests for circumstances that were entirely the responsibility of the hotel. Customer service does not end when guests check in. When serious concerns are brought to management's attention, the expectation is that someone will take ownership, communicate, and make every effort to resolve the situation. Unfortunately, that did not happen here. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this hotel for a wedding room block, family event, or any special occasion to think carefully before booking. The lack of management responsiveness and customer care was just as disappointing as the conditions themselves. A sincere apology, a simple return phone call and compensation would have gone a long way. Instead, we were left feeling ignored after one of the most important weekends of our family's lives. I cannot recommend this hotel based on our experience. The hotel in my opinion should not be operational.

The rooms don't smell, many times at these locations even the non smoking rooms smell, but these don't. It's not too noisy other than the nearby airport but it's bearable. The price in my opinion could be cheaper but it is not bad. I would recommend this spot if you need somewhere to go and can't figure out where!
