We were so happy to see Bayley's is back in business. You can order in the first floor and take out or there are some tables to eat there. We went upstairs to the restaurant. You can order at the bar or sit and order from your table. There are many tables most with a window view. A full bar is also available. We had the haddock sandwich box and the clam strip box. Everything was amazing and served hot. The haddock was three size the size of the bun and the onion rings huge and cooked perfectly. Was in the area for a work trip up to Migis Lodge (OMG GO CHECK IT OUT!!!)... Stopped in with the hubby to order some food. It was here or Kens and we choose here. It was end of summer weekend and I expected the place to be much more packed with everyone trying to hold on to last few summer days, but it wasnt. Eating outdoors on a pier overlooking a bay and marsh is always a plus. The service was very good. The thing that wasn't up to standard were the steamers. They were very big and pretty sandy. Was looking for a spot to get a Maine summer "Fisherman's platter" to share with my husband. When I noticed that Bayley's had a large outdoor, covered seating area, I knew I had found the right spot. We put in our order and about 15ish minutes later, got a call to come pick it all up. The FP consisted of fried clams (full clam, not strips), scallops, shrimp and haddock. It also came with a baked potato, a dinner roll and a side of cole slaw. There was honestly enough for two, even two hungry adults. We enjoyed it all, especially the clams. The shrimp, which were fresh, were super tiny. There were 4 or so scallops and a big piece of haddock. The tartar sauce tasted home made, a BIG plus! read more

After a day of shopping in the area, we drove around Pine Point trying to find a place for dinner, particularly seafood. Most places on a Saturday night were very busy and packed. At one place, the wait for a table was 45 minutes. We decided to head a few miles inland and stopped at Bayley's Seafood Restaurant. A lot of places in this area are named Bayley, so we gave in, in a good way. This casual restaurant has outside takeout windows and two levels for dining inside. We headed upstairs and at the top of the stairs, we ordered a bunch of food and paid at the counter, given a number, and took a seat. The upstairs dining room has 11 booths, TV, and bar. The kitchen is downstairs and there's neat automatic dumbwaiter system that transports the trays of food upstairs. The place was very busy and it took about 25 minutes for our number to be called. Tartar and cocktail sauce at the pickup counter. The New England Clam Chowder passed the spoon test and had lots of potato chunks with minced clams in a thick creamy broth. The cold Shrimp Roll tasted pretty good and was mixed with mayo and served on a hot dog bun. The Clam Cakes (3) Special served with crispy fries, creamy cole slaw and soft roll were deep fried, crispy on the outside and chewy inside loaded with lots of minced clams, very similar to the conch fritters I had in Florida. The Fish & Chips was served with crispy fries, creamy cole slaw, and soft roll. The lightly breaded fish tasted fresh and not too greasy. My significant other ended up here during a high tourist time of the summer. I have always thought of the OOB area as one to pump out good, old fried seafood that would knock your socks off. Sadly, I was wrong. We ordered the fishman's platter to split and were very disappointed. I found a pool of grease under the whole platter and was automatically turned off. Succulent lobsters, perfectly cooked. We ate on the back deck, the only tables at Bayley's on the water. A lovely harbor view made up for the rather insistent manager who kept telling us that, since individual lobsters (vs dinners with sides) are usually for takeout, they do not come with butter or nut crackers, and we would have to purchase those separately. Several times she repeated, "These are usually packed for takeout. Usually they're takeout. They don't come with crackers because they're normally not eaten here." Any guesses why? "They're usually for takeout." OKAY. WE GET IT. I actually asked, "Do you not want us to eat here? Because the nice gal working back here just told me we can both order and eat here on the dock." Sheesh! Essentially, if you dare to eat your lobsters sans dinner roll/corn/slaw/fries that you Do Not Want, them u have to pay separately for butter and crackers. Crackers = nutcrackers for the lobsters. Now, I have eaten aplenty at lobster pounds "in the rough" and I have never before heard of them charging you for a nut cracker. That was a bit ridiculous. So I asked them to just chop the boiled lobster, knowing we could break the rest apart by hand. I did buy the butter, which was a huge tub for one 1-1/2 lb lobster. Should have shared butter, esp paying $2 apiece for it. Despite the unnecessary sourpuss of the manager - the lobster and outdoor setting were great. Inside is order only - no tables. And if you plan to have only lobsters - and eat them there - you'd better BYO nutcraker, or the manager will crack Your nuts. read more

Was reccomended this by a local stating they have amazing lobster. I got the lazy lobster, wasn't too impressed too much crumbs for me. If you love deep fried everything this is the place for you! Went to the take out on 6/25/17. Only went here because Ken's had a line out through the patio and my granddaughter was sleeping in the car with her dad. Ordered fried clams and scallops to go. Paid $43+, scallops were good, but the clams absolutely were the worst I have ever had. Only one was of decent size so you could actually taste it. Being this small, they were fried to almost oblivion. They were tasteless, chewy overcooked garbage. We ended up at Bailey's for lunch by default; the other restaurant just around the corner didn't have room for our oversized vehicle to park, they were that busy. So, Plan B: Bailey's. empty parking lot so no problem parking. Went inside - you place order at counter, they call your number when it's ready. Meal was ready in relatively short time. Lobster rolls were typical top split hotdog roll, toasted. Bailey's lobster meat seemed to be all knuckle and claw and was chopped and dressed in a mayo and Old Bay type seasoning and served cold. The fries were tasty; crispy and warm. The O-rings were even better. Best of our lunch we're the fried oysters, light amount of breading, juicy and plump oysters. Not over cooked. Overall feeling, Bailey's is ok. We decided to do take out from this wonderful seafood restaurant. I had seafood chowder and clams, others had the haddock and various other dinner's. The food was ready in 20 minutes in the peak season. Outstanding. It was packaged so it was piping hot when my husband got home. The food and we all sampled some of each others, was delicious. We vacation in OOB, and Bayley's is a welcome addition to the area. For too long, there wasn't a good outdoor spot for seafood in the Pine Point/Old Orchard Beach area, but now there's Bayley's. The restaurant juts out on a marina to maximize "on the water" seating. It sits right on a marsh, so you have incredible views and can watch lobster boats come in about 300 yards away. If you're there at high tide, you're about 2 feet above the water; at low tide about 10 feet from the sand. It's like two different restaurants. The food: Great place for lobster and steamers. I see other people ordering other dishes, but you've got to go with the classics. Fresh seafood, fun bar area, and great Bloodies! Parking was a nightmare in the past, but this year they added a complimentary valet service which takes the stress away. If you're there with the kids, make sure to stop by the lobster tanks outdoors. The staff is usually really nice about telling kids about lobsters. During the summer, there can be a line, so just make sure to plan ahead if you're going during a peak time. read more

Something Fishy My girlfriend and I stopped in, and there was a sign for the 3 way combo which was fried clams, which were good, fried shrimp, which were ok, and then the haddock...... Let me first say I have lived in Maine my entire life, and I have consumed lots of seafood, some that I catch myself. I know what good fish tastes like, and I know what fish that sat in a warm cooler or on a boat too long tastes like. My gf tried some of the haddock and told me the fish was off so I took a sniff and had to agree, I even gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried eating a piece, I promptly spat it back out. We ate around the fish and then brought the fillet back. I have NEVER sent food back anywhere before, but no one should get bad fish 2 minutes from the ocean, so we brought it back the to serving counter and I let them know it was bad. They didn't seem to really believe me, gave us the dumb customer doesn't know what fish tastes like look, but they offered us another one. While we waited for the fillet the counter clerk came back and said the chief insisted that fish was fresh. Fresh haddock does NOT smell and taste like old fish. It should have almost no smell at all, and a very light barely sweet flavor, not FISHY FISH smell & flavor. We took the second fillet back in the car, I tried a bit about 5 minutes later while on the road, SAME PROBLEM. I have the fish in my freezer right now if the owner wants to thaw it out and take a sniff and a bite. They may buy fresh, but it has been unseasonably warm this week, so if they haven't switched to summer storage routines on the docks or in the restaurant then this could explain the bad fish. So as my visit in ME this week continues I decided to try this place for dinner, after previously eating at Ken's right up the street. I must give a slight nod to this place. I ordered a combo plate with shrimp and scallops. Each time I get fresh seafood I am reminded of how different it tastes from what I get when I am home. The scallops were large and tasty. I probably got at least 10 of them, easily. The rest of the plate was an abundance of shrimp and fries. No complaints about either. Fresh shrimp is slightly sweet and went well with the breading. I have to mention the cocktail sauce. It did not taste store bought or come in prepackaged contains like Kens. So much better. The fries, slaw and roll were as expected. The glutton in me also required some clam chowder. As others have mentioned, it passed the spoon test. I was quite satisfied. The wait staff here is much much easier on the eyes than the good people down the way at Ken's. Kinda makes waiting for the food that more enjoyable. Give this place a try. If I do not go here for dinner this evening, when I return in the fall I will certainly go here. That lazy man's lobster I saw on the board looked inviting. read more

Generous portions, ever increasing selection, very reasonable prices. Can be a bit noisy when it is busy. Many rooms to seat in so no matter how busy it may be there always seems to be seating. Can definitely recommend Bayley's on Pine Point Road for fresh seafood. They are open year around and that means they are the only spot on snowy weekends during the long Maine winter. Huge compliments on the chowder - my fav is the fried shrimp...a delightful cholesterol carousel for the taste buds + homemade tartar sauce. Yum!
