We stopped in for drinks and a snack. We went to the second floor bar which overlooks the patio and ocean. It's very beautiful but comfortable inside. All of the fryer items are gluten free so I was delighted to have calamari, and it was delicious. Even my regular gluten eating folks said it was the best they ever had! Crunchy and perfect, with delightful accouterments including fired capers and piquillo peppers. The cocktails were absolute perfection, the bartenders know their stuff and are very friendly. I would love to come back for a full diner sometime.

Our first time here (visiting from NY) and was originally a little discouraged after a cold phone conversation with staff. We decided to still try walk-in availability and I'm glad we did. The food was really good and we were sat in the corner upstairs with the doors open. It was a beautiful night. Our waiter helped us make our choices and was really nice. Their steak with chimichurri was great. Highly recommend!

Myself and family had a wonderful dinner here! The service was absolutely fabulous! Special shoutout to Kelsey, who was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. We started with the fresh calamari appetizer, which was light, crispy, and so tasty, and the fresh pear salad was a refreshing, flavorful start. For my entrée, I had the stuffed lobster with scallops, and it was delish! The lobster was succulent, perfectly cooked, and truly a treat for dinner. It was served with fresh veggies and potatoes. My fiancé and future sister-in-law ordered the "Best of Both Worlds" which was steak and lobster; it was a nice combo, but they both agreed the steak was just okay and didn't really need the chimichurri sauce. My future brother-in-law really enjoyed his haddock entrée....he said it was fresh and well-prepared. We finished the meal by sharing desserts; cheesecake, key lime pie, and chocolate mousse cake, and every bite was yummy! All in all, a great and yummy meal by the water with fabulous service and fresh, delicious food. We'll definitely be back!

The service wasn't bad, but you could tell that they didn't want to be there. The food was good, but not great. The price really didn't live up to the hype. We started with bread service and a salad both were good and then I had a filet which was undercooked but no biggie and she had the chicken breast that was ok. The views of the ocean are outstanding.

You can never go wrong with Joseph's! The food is magnificent. From seafood to steak to handhelds, there is something tor everyone. The service is what you would expect from a higher end restaurant, but is not stuffy like some higher end restaurants. The servers are friendly and prompt but not invasive which is perfect for spending time with friends or family catching up on life and sharing a meal. The array of dining options is unreal. From their main dining room, which has spectacular views of the ocean, to their patio which is heated and perfect to catch the sunset; to the rooftop patio which is just a special treat, there is something for everyone: Joseph's is a special place that is such a vibrant part of the community. We love it there!

I'm afraid to say it's overrated. The location is prime, the menu looked great, and the ratings were high, but we found it to be lackluster. We went on a Sunday night and were told that they were fully booked for the evening but could seat us at the bar upstairs. Walking to the bar, we noticed that tables were empty. Even after we finished dining, those tables were still empty. I think the hostess could've done a better job to just have seated us and let us know there was a time limit. Sitting at the bar, our server was very attentive at least, but I wasn't so impressed by the food. Mussels were TINY though they gave a good portion. Perhaps I ordered the wrong dish. The strawberry salad was good though. Seafood pasta had generous portions and variety of seafood, but it was too salty. Ambiance is nice and I can imagine that it would be cozy when the weather is great.

One of the nicer restaurants in Old Orchard Beach with pleasant decor and beach side dining. We sat upstairs at the bar and the bartenders were great but the meal was a bit of a let down. Caesar salad was drowning in dressing and the fish and chips was basic. I'd try it again based on location and ambiance but order something else.

slowest service ever! super loud atmosphere. do not, by any means order the lobster risotto! it was a bowl of slop with no lobster and some random slimy things that looked like shrimp shells.

Had a wonderful meal here. Extremely friendly staff and the chefs were really on point with the food. Only four stars because the restaurant could really use some updating and cleaning. The windows had lots of fingerprints and just overall had a 1993 vibe. While that may not be a bad thing for some, in a part of the country where there are so many fantastic places to eat... Don't relax on the details. However the food and staff were amazing and that's what it's all about. Time for some tables and chairs so they're not leaning so much

Haven't been to many places in old orchard beach, I was recommended Joseph's by some friends, the setting was a little basic for me. The service was very attentive along with helpful when it came to the questions I was asking. One of those questions was if the lobster in the establishment was local and not Canadian, luckily the lobster is sourced locally . I ended up having a seafood pasta dish that was very fresh and delicious! The drinks were great I was a little disappointed in old orchard beach for having such a limited and not good tequila selection. I will definitely return to this establishment for a second go to see if it's consistently the same. I will add you can show up casual or dressed to impress all are welcome!

Let's get to ambiance first. This place is fantastic! You have a choice for inside dining (only recommended for rain or cold weather, although it's beautiful inside too), outside patio, rooftop patio. All tables come with a view of the ocean. If it's a nice day, it doesn't get better than this! Service: Excellent. Food: There is an axiom that if the view is good, the food is bad. Not at this restaurant. My wife started with a cocktail and we ordered the $4.00 bread service. (Although the bread was fine, it's not really worth the extra $4. I'm sure this used to come free.) For a starter course, I got a cup of the Seafood Chowder. It looked kind of like mushroom soup and nothing much to look at, but when I tasted it, my mind was blown away. My God, it was good. The broth was lighter than clam chowder and unlike the more famous soup, it was infused with flavor. No lie, it was the best chowder I've ever had. It was packed with the right amount of seafood and I wish I had ordered a bowl, not just a cup. This was a 1000 out of 10. For an entree, I had the Pasta Maison ($34) with a generous portion of shrimp, scallops, salmon, mussels, sun dried tomato in a garlic-herb cream sauce over penne pasta. It satisfied my seafood cravings and was quite filling. My wife had the Chicken Piccata ($28) with lemons, capers in a white wine sauce. She doesn't often see this on the menu and was very happy with this version. She had a side salad which also was quite good. Our pre-tip total was just over $100, which was quite a fair place for what we ordered.

Okayyyyy Big Daddy's!…read more I ordered the Peach Bacon Glaze Burger with lots of cheese and caramelized onions, cooked medium, and BABYYYY... ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! First of all, this burger was HUGE! I could only eat half and once I was FULL. The combination of the sweet peach bacon glaze, melty cheese, caramelized onions and that perfectly cooked burger was EVERYTHING. This was definitely the star of the meal. I also ordered the Jalapeño Hush Puppies. Now, those? Not really my thing. I didn't care too much for them, but thankfully the burger more than made up for it. I sat at the bar because it was pretty busy, and even with the crowd, customer service was AMAZING. Everybody was friendly and attentive. The ambience is cool. Definitely gives bar/pub vibes, and while the inside is on the smaller side, it still works for a casual date night, drinks and a good meal. Bathrooms were clean too, which is always a plus! And one thing I can say about Big Daddy's is that the food is consistently good. This isn't my first time having a great meal here, and it won't be my last. Would I go back? ABSOLUTELY! Would I order that burger again? BABY, I wouldn't even need to look at the menu! Overall: Great food, great service, cool atmosphere and consistent quality. Definitely worth a stop when you're in Old Orchard Beach!

You're…read moremet with the lingering scent of beer soaked into the floor from nights that were clearly busier than anyone could properly manage. Now, most people would interpret that as neglect. But that's not quite right. It's evidence. Evidence that this is a place that has been tested, repeatedly, and continues to operate under pressure. And strangely enough, that inspires a certain confidence. You know, almost immediately, the drinks are going to be done properly. I ordered something simple. chicken fingers with buffalo sauce and bleu cheese. Nothing remarkable, and that's precisely the point. They weren't trying to reinvent anything. They were just... competent. And competence, especially in an environment that borders on chaos, is not trivial. It's reliability. It's order, holding its ground. The service reflected that same tension. Reese, the bartender, was clearly under strain. busy to the point where most people would start to fracture, but she didn't. She held the line. And if you've spent enough time in this industry, you know that's not easy to do. There's something almost admirable about watching someone maintain composure when everything around them is loud, demanding, and slightly out of control. And that's really the essence of the place. It's loud... almost aggressively so. Packed. Borderline unruly. At one point, there was a couple engaged in what was clearly a volatile argument... infidelity, perhaps? but the noise swallowed the details. It didn't matter. The specifics were irrelevant. What you were witnessing was raw human behavior, unfiltered, playing out in real time. And oddly enough, it fit perfectly. This is not a place for quiet reflection or carefully structured conversation. It's a place where order and chaos collide and neither one fully wins. But if you're the kind of person who can tolerate that, or even enjoy it... there's something undeniably compelling about it. If you want quiet, look elsewhere. But if you're willing to step into something louder, messier, and far more alive, then this place offers exactly that. It's not refined. It's not restrained. It's something closer to a modern day bacchanal. And for better or worse, that's the point.
