This was a joke of a breakfast! Well, the pancakes were for sure. Breakfast Your Way a little over $20 w/tip! The pancakes were like these microwaveable ultra thin crepes. They were tuff to cut with a fork. I had to apply extra hard pressure to cut through them. Plus they weren't even hot. The toast had only a smidgen of butter on them and the bottom toast had none. The eggs and potatoes were good. The sausages were of low quality. Honestly I had better breakfasts at Dennys and IHOP for under $20 My server (Asian) was the only saving grace. We've had the pleasure of dining at the Bayonet Grill a handful of times and, each time, the service has been top notch. Staff are welcoming and friendly and they check back JUST often enough to ensure you have everything you need, without being overbearing. The food itself is what you'd expect from a golf course. Burgers and sandwiches galore, plus some healthier salad options. The food has always been good, exceeding expectations of a golf course grill. Does the food compare to the fine establishments in downtown Monterey or Carmel by the sea? No, of course not. But for seaside, this is a gem. Portions are generous and prices are fair. The view from the grill is worth a visit alone. I'm reluctant not to gate-keep this little fact because you usually are going to need to "pay for the view" at other food spots when they have the same vantage points. On a summer day, you can sit out on the patio, order a beer, and take it all in. My only critique is that the furniture is a bit dated and worn out, including the menus and the folios that they're displayed in. If a little more was invested in giving the place a light facelift, it would really shine! read more

I had heard about the Sunday buffet there. I went to the website and saw it promoted as being available from 10am to 1pm, and I was prompted by the site to make a reservation. I did. We got there and found out they no longer offered the buffet, which was a bummer. But then the even bigger bummer was that despite it being 11am, they also no longer were serving breakfast/brunch foods. We didn't find this out until after we had already ordered and received a Bloody Mary, so we didn't feel comfortable leaving. But we would have gone somewhere else if we had known they didn't serve brunch. So they lose stars for misleading information on the website that got me to pay for something I didn't actually want. Made a reservation for Mother's Day's Sunday Buffet. Beautiful restaurant overlooking the golf course and view of Monterey Bay. We choose indoor seating (luckily we were seated at the corner window table) as you never know whether the Marine layer will be in. We arrived at 10AM, weather was sunny with a slight breeze, but when we left the marine layer was moving in with more wind. The outdoor seating is nice, better view, but wind and marine layer after 11 today would not have been comfortable. The hostesses were welcome and presented glasses of champagne to my wife and daughter. The servers are very attentive and will answer any questions you may have. Water never goes empty and used plates are removed. The buffet food included ciabatta roll and butter; Caesar salad, garden salad with two types of dressing; Dungeness crab claws, clams, mussels, oysters, shrimp (all cold) with on the side special tarter or cocktail sauce; smoked chilled salmon (with all the sides); Scrambled eggs, home style potatoes with grilled onions, red and green bell peppers; eggs Benedict, French toast, pancakes, sausage patties, bacon, Yukon gold mashed potatoes with truffle oil; grilled Atlantic salmon; prime rib; desert table with fruit(strawberries, melons) croissant, pastries, muffins, slices of various cakes plus a great tasting coffee both regular and decaf. For children they had chicken nuggets and fries as well. More choices of food than you could ever try or eat. My favorite was the cold shrimp with their special tartar sauce. The salmon with cream cheese on toasted sliced bagels was tasty as well. The prime rib was cooked to almost medium, I prefer mine a more on the rare side, but the Au jus (on the side) was a great addition to the prime rib. The eggs Benedict was good, but the poached egg on some were over cooked. Other favorites included the garden salad and the Caesar salad. The choices of food is overwhelming, so choose small tastings and go back for your favorites. We enjoyed our Mother's Day feast. The buffet is set up in a separate room where larger parties can also be accommodated. This restaurant also serves dinner Tuesday thru Thursday, so we will be back to give their non buffet food a try. read more

This has been one of our reliable go-to spots during the last two years. They abbreviated the menu during the pandemic, but always had good carry out food. We brought my Mom by the other day and really enjoyed the selections from the new menu, even though we miss some of the oldies, and we luxuriated in the panoramic view of Monterey bay. We sat near an open door, and I really want to dine on the open air patio next time we come. There are umbrellas for each table to keep off the sun, and the walls are topped with glass to keep out the wind. I really liked my Cobb Salad, and kept the dressing on the side for dipping. My Mom and husband both got burgers with onion rings. Each of them could only eat half their burger. We chatted while admiring this lovely view. We did notice that there is a Liquor License notice on the window, and that the Bayonet Grill is up for sale. With million dollar villas being built all around the golf course, the future grill may be much different! read more

Burgers (and much more) with a view! We stopped in on a recommendation from a friend for lunch. Definitely a casual spot for a solid meal on a golf course. They have a large patio which would be enjoyable in nicer weather (not so much on a cool foggy day). There is plenty of seating indoors though. The view of the bay can be seen from inside as well. We showed up about 1:00 on a Sunday afternoon. We were told to choose any table we liked so we went with a small two top by the window. Jules took great care of us. He stopped over right away to drop off menus and take our drink order. The menu has plenty of variety with breakfast options as well as salads, sandwiches, burgers and appetizers. The burgers are advertised as USDA prime beef and there are a number of variations (bleu cheese, teriyaki, chili, etc). All of the menu items have cute kitschy names. I decided on the Smoking Willie while my husband had the Party Melt. These burgers are thick and substantial. The bun was able to hold up to the toppings which on my Smokin Willie included smoked cheddar, thick bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado and chipotle aioli. Let's face it - who wants a soggy bun that falls apart as soon as you pick the burger up. My husband's Party Melt was served on marble rye and topped with Swiss cheese and grilled onions. Both sandwiches were delicious and prepared to order. The accompanying fries were perfection - crispy outside, fluffy inside and not the least bit greasy. They have a full bar and probably the best Bloody Mary in town (they use a homemade mix that has a nice spice from horseradish) as well as a few beer and wine options. It's nothing fancy. Honestly the dining room could probably benefit from a bit of a redo, but considering this was once a part of Fort Order, I totally get the look. We had a large part of 12 for lunch on Memorial Day. The hostess/waitress/food runner was very busy and still took excellent care of our group including splitting the check many ways which is super helpful. The food was excellent, from the salads to the ginormous burgers, to my pulled pork sandwich on a fresh ciabatta roll. We were married here on June 22, 2019. Loved the venue and the food! Jeff is wonderful to work with and the crew present the night of our wedding were great! I do suggest getting dressed somewhere else as there really isn't a proper place here. Especially not if you are wanting to take photos of the bride getting ready. There are a lot of beautiful spots to take photos here. We did like the entrance and walkway leading in a lot! Be sure to have someone set up the shade in the corner where they put your cake. Really disappointed in this place. I booked a private room for a brunch service for my mom's retirement party. In the past I previously used bayonet for my sister's bridal shower back in 2021 and we had GREAT service, however we did not have the same experience this time around. What disappointed me most was everything was prepaid for and At the end of the party a staff member asked my dad to pay! Luckily, before my dad handed them money, he called me and I told him I already paid everything in full. Apparently Betsy did not leave a note saying that I paid for the brunch in full. I think this was a huge mistake to make to someone who paid over $1K. Second thing that made me very upset was, my guests went to the bar to order drinks while waiting and the bartender that day asked my aunt "didn't I just give you one?" WOW! She ordered a Bloody Mary for herself and then ordered one for my mom. I literally couldn't believe it. We will never have another event here, nor will we recommend this place. There was some kind of party going on in part of the restaurant area, which was actually really cool because we hung out with some of them. My family and I went there for Mother's Day brunch. When we came in we were asked if we wanted "complimentary mimosas or champagne". My husband and I did order one and had a couple of refills. We were never told there would be a fee. Also in the advertisement for the brunch it said mimosas and champagne were included. At the end of our meal we received a bill for the buffets at $39.95 each and another $50 in mimosa charges. My husband did not tell me at the time because he did not want to ruin the morning. I feel we were wrongly charged and cheated. None of the waiters or waitresses for any of the tables around us advised people of charges for the mimosas. I would have never paid for another mimosa considering it was basically orange juice and barely anything else. The food was good. Not great. read more

Some of the cocktails at the bar are kind of pricey. The food seems OK. I only ordered the chicken wings here, but I was not in awe whatsoever. I decided not to gamble on any other food orders here. The waitstaff, comprised mostly of young college girls, were pretty cool though. They were attentive, fast, and helpful. The friendly smiles help out a lot also. Awesome patio area. My family and I have been going here since I was a kid. We've always celebrated major events here such as Easter and Thanksgiving and have never had a problem. Which is why I was even more disappointed with the less-than-satisfactory service when we decided to have my grandmother's funeral reception here with just our immediate family. Sweeping views of the majestic Monterey Bay accompany your every bite. There is a roaring fireplace, a couple leather armchairs and a few flatscreen televisions to really get cozy. Yesterday I had the Caprese Cibiatta Sandwich, loads of fresh seasoned mozzarella, basil and tomatoes wedged between fresh-baked artisan cibatta bread. My co-worker had the colossal Clubhouse Sandwich, three tiers of grilled chicken, toasted bread, crispy bacon, buttery lettuce and juicy tomatoes. This is the grill at the Bayonet Blackhorse golf course, which is open to the non-golfing public. It offers completely unmemorable sandwich and grill fare, often served somewhat slowly, but remains the only sit-down restaurant option in the entire Fort Ord Military Community area and is now the only restaurant, period, after the closing of the nearby Burger King. As such it remains a bit of a hidden secret, but hardly a hidden gem. I'd rate it on the lower side of the three-star range, but the food isn't bad, it's just heavily overpriced for being so unimaginative. The big plus here is that if you catch it in good weather, you get a nice ocean view - maybe one of the better "hidden" views here - if you are strategically seated. We also had a friend get married here some years back (on the veranda, or whatever you call the concrete patio), although the wedding was catered, they had some of the hospitality staff helping out and used the function room in the back and they were great. If you are just looking for a place in the area to have a sitdown lunch, get basic fare, maybe a beer or an Arnold Palmer with your lunch, and the slightly elevated prices won't faze you, then by all means, go ahead and patronize it. That's exactly what we do when we have no other options for whatever reason. read more

Anyway, on the positive side I will say that their sweet potato fries and their onion ring stacks are excellent. We also had the fried crab "BLT" sandwich which had some good flavors going on but was simply over breaded. The batter they use is very thick and doughy and I think it would be much improved if they used a tempura style or panko crust to make it lighter. Our wedding ceremony and reception were both at Bayonet Blackhorse at the end of October this year. We never really thought about the venue and location before as a wedding venue and we are so glad we. The wedding was beautiful and we were very happy to share our special day with our family and friends. Jeff was great and was our contact during our planning process. I did not hire a wedding planner and we were able to do a lot on our own with the help of family and friends. We hired Chantel from Forma Weddings to do the ceiling drape and lighting for inside the venue and it was beautiful! Our other outside vendors and friends were great as well and it all came together beautifully. The arch was provided through the venue along with the dance floor inside for an additional fee. The food was good and they offer a nice menu of options. My husband and I were able to taste the food and make our selections prior to choosing our menu with Jeff. They offer plated or buffet options for dinner for event and we went with a plated dinner with three options for guests to choose from. They have a full bar as well which is nice and two banquet rooms on site. Other than the fact it was very chilly the day of the wedding, the whole day was perfect. I will admit there were a few hiccups along the way, but that is okay, things happen. There was another small event going on at the time we were told to arrive to start setting up indoors for our wedding reception that we did not have prior knowledge of - which was not ideal - especially when the buffet for this other group was out in main dining area and not the back dining area. The staff was helpful with getting things set up and moved indoors and outdoors with decorating, but it wouldn't have been done on time for the ceremony and cocktail hour without my family helping as well... We do recommend taking a look at this spot if you are looking for an event or wedding in the Monterey Peninsula. It really is the biggest bang for your buck and there is a view! Just be aware of golfers (inside at the bar and outside playing golf) and prior events that may be occurring the same day/weekend of your event. read more
