    Sirloin
    Andy V.

This place was kinda dead when we got there. They had 1 guy cooking and looks like the owner was the only one running the front end. Very quiet and the furniture seems a bit outdated. But their food was great. The Sirloin was tender and cooked perfect medium rare, and the red wine reduction sauce was fantastic. The Chimichurri steak was great too. The sides were good but basic. Not bad.

First time here, last time here. Nice ambiance but I like to enjoy my food too. I ordered the fish and chips, big mistake. Oily, greasy, worst I've ever had and that is the truth. Not even edible. Who fks up fish and chips in Monterey? Unbelievable. The price, high @ $29.00. Higher than London Bridge which is the best by far. The beer was OK, nothing noteworthy and service ok but the dude was afraid of my French bulldogs. No one is afraid of French Bulldogs. There was no one in the place which tells me I should have not gone but it was right next door to my hotel so I was Fk'd and it was close to closing time. Do yourself a favor, scratch it off your list even if you're STARVING. Sorry Cookhouse, your food sucks. I gave them 2 stars because Moises was a good guy.

*** I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING ELSEWHERE *** Last night we ordered doordash from this place. My wife's 3 layer moose cake was only two layers, and whatever the frosting was, had visible mold growing in it and on it. Unfortunately for my wife she did not notice this until eating about 1/3 of the cake. When I reported it to the restaurant they told me I would hear from the owner (Mohammed i believe) today. Well it's 7:30 pm and no call. Clearly they could care less. DO NOT GO HERE AND EAT THIER "FOOD" JUST TO GET SICK!! The food isn't that great anyway.

Had a girls night with my daughter. We went last night 2/28 to eat there for the first time ever. I got the chicken kabab with teriyaki sauce which was amazing. Not too much teriyaki sauce which I loved and also the veggie were so good. My daughter got cheese tortellini with mushrooms and with white sauce instead of the spiced sauce her request and they did it for her. She loved it also. I tried it myself and it didn't disappoint. Overall the food was good service was amazing too. Food came out in a timely manner. Thank you again for great food and service.

We booked for a party of 11 adults and 5 children but when we came our tables were apart and we didn't sit with each other it was two separate tables which was upsetting, upon ordering food our waitress was so in rush I even was unable to complete my sentence what I wanted and she ran away every time , messing up with my order, we had our food quick but for me not as expected, I asked for mid steak readiness but it was over well , chewy and dry, lobster was good by the way . I tried my husbands ribeye he asked for well done but received mid well which was so good and juicy, also I asked for raspberry lemon drop and I loved it!! Dishes were expensive but not all of them worth the price to my taste. Place is clean and cute , I loved the real flower decor, cozy and romantic, but need some improvement.

We are staying Lone Oak Lodge and I noticed this restaurant while walking my dog in the morning. I highly recommend. The food was great and waitress super friendly. We had fish chips and the beast hamburger. The hamburger had 2 slices of delicious brisket on hamburger.

We went last night our bill was 140 they added a large party tip of 30 something leaving the bill to end up at $206. The" large party " was 3 people... they gave us tap water to start. And now they charged me an extra $40 and I did not leave a tip so now I'm confused why I'm being charged more for something that was already tipped added by the restaurant

We had a Delicious Dinner on 9-16-25 while visiting Monterey. It was next to our hotel and they recommended it. I had the Skirt Steak medium with Chimmichiri which was MAGNIFICENT. The sides Twice Baked Potato and Grilled Vegetables were also Very Good. My husband had the Grilled Salmon which he also Enjoyed. Our Waiter Moses was Very Friendly, Courteous and Prompt. We'll definitely return on our next visit to Monterey.

This is a cute but very large restaurant. The setting is very relaxing and decorated very beautiful. Has a great bar set up for drinks and lunch at the bar to watch the game. Great staff. Very friendly. Enjoyed our smoked chicken wings. So tender fall off the bone. Flavor is magnificent. Had a chicken caprese panini. Also a smoked brisket panini. So tender, you can taste the smokiness of the brisket. Very good. Come on down and enjoy a great meal. You will definitely be full when you leave.

What really stood out was the service. Everyone was welcoming, our server was attentive without hovering, and the staff made us feel genuinely taken care of throughout the meal. Everything we ordered was delicious!! The ahi tuna ceviche was fresh and flavorful, the grilled octopus was tender with just the right amount of char, and the birria tacos were packed with juicy, cooked beef. The duck taquitos were crispy and unique, the grilled salmon was perfectly cooked, and even the chicken tacos on handmade tortillas were simple but so satisfying. We also ordered the steak, which came out cooked exactly as requested and was seasoned perfectly. To finish, we shared the tres leches cake, and it was the perfect ending. It was light, moist, and not overly sweet, with fresh raspberries that added a nice touch. Between the excellent food, friendly service, and inviting atmosphere, this was an easy five star experience. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal!!

If you're an Amex Platinum cardholder looking to burn Resy credits in Monterey, this Mexican restaurant is worth a try -- but manage your expectations. We had a reservation and were seated right away, which was a plus. Started with chips and guac and a couple of drinks, then ordered the chicken enchiladas and the skirt steak and arugula salad, adding shrimp to the salad. The food was fine, the atmosphere was fine, the service was fine -- nothing memorable, nothing bad. The real issue is price. Adding shrimp to a salad cost about $15, and our total with tip came out to around $140 for two people. For that price point in Monterey, I expected more from the food and overall experience. Would I come back? Probably not at full price. But if you have the Amex Platinum and quarterly Resy dining credits to use, it softens the blow enough to make it worth trying once.

We booked Stokes Adobe for table of 8 (including two small toddlers) They brought out little coloring paper & crayons which was super nice of them. We were seated in a private area which was nice since our two small toddlers like to walk around and it's less distraction. We did family style and ordered a bit of everything! Crispy potatoes: Love the carbs! The potatoes were crispy and delicious. The lemon truffle crema sauce was so yummy! Oysters: Definitely order half shell oysters! They were delicious! Hamachi: This was okay, nothing special to be honest sinc Mussels: This one was also delicious as well. It was made with white wine and tomato broth with butter, shallot, garlic. Beets salad: You can't go wrong with ordering a beet salad! The honey vinaigrette was delicious! Santa Cruz King Salmon: This dish was simple but tasty. The Meyer lemon sauce went well with the salmon. 12oz Pork chop: The meat was soft and easy to bite into. The cauliflower puree was delicious! Snake River American Wagyu: I thought the steak was okay. It was a bit too rare for me personally but my husband liked it! Brussels sprouts: Yummmm! Love the crispy Brussels sprouts. Overall service was great and the food was good. The only downside of the night was not getting the duck liver mousse toast. Not sure why the order went through when we mentioned in the beginning but hope to try it next time we're in town.

The vibes are here but it all stops there…read more.. Let me start by saying that I love this place. Just needs a bit of cleaning up on their transparency. The 'keep it open' policy is something I appreciate but would also appreciate an itemized receipt when you close out. Here's why to keep your eye out when drinking at this establishment. 1- when you close out, it's helpful to verify what you consumed to ensure you're corrected charged. My receipt was the merchant copy and the customer copy. Itemized? Really had to ask for it. 2- the merchant copy - it asked for a tip and the total amount. When we closed out our beer and well drink, it was ~$28. Weird, right? So my thought was that they clearly charged something incorrect. 3- when there's something automatically charged, it had better be communicated to me upfront. The gratuity was automatically added and IT WAS 20%! No sign, no way to notify me that it was already added. It didn't even say so on the merchant or customer copy. On top of that, the copy asked for AN ADDITIONAL TIP. For something like that, I had better get great service. 4- The service here is spotty at best. There's usually one bartender for the often busy bar. Not a problem, usually. But with that high of a price, better serve your customers well and have a fully stocked bar. 5 - the options were lacking. Two things you'd think would be stocked but weren't - espresso (come on, even Kahlua) and apple liqueur for an espresso martini and appletini were too much to ask for, I guess. Overall, a disappointment. Good thing they have the vibes nearly right. But awful business practices.

I stuck with a classic martini, but others in our party of five explored the cocktail menu and were impressed. The bartender was warm and welcoming and greeted us right away for our reservation. Unfortunately, the experience took an awkward turn at seating. We had requested a view and were about to be accommodated when another staff member (auburn hair) interrupted abruptly and loudly, insisting we not be seated up front due to other reservations. It was uncomfortable and felt unprofessional--especially in front of guests. As it turned out, she was our server. Throughout the evening, her demeanor didn't improve and felt out of step with the otherwise welcoming environment. Having spent over 25 years in the industry and as a restaurant owner, I know how important frontline staff are to the guest experience, and this simply didn't reflect the level this place is capable of. That said, this feels like the exception--not the norm. I've had pleasant experiences here before and will return, hopeful that this was just an off moment.

Yet the ambiance, service, and food are very good! I love the various aspects of the decor, as well. Other than parking challenges on a busy night in the downtown, we were lucky to get a table for 5 relatively quickly, as this place isn't that large, with some additional bar seating, and it seems very popular. 5:30 was a great time, as we watched the waiting line grow longer after we were seated. Our server, Michael J., did a great job of greeting us, providing menus, and taking initial drink orders while we decided what to try. We decided to try BBQ honey wings, fried artichoke hearts, and onion rings for appetizers. The main courses were two orders of kids' cheese pizza and tater tots, a small dinner salad, a cup of New England-style clam chowder, and a NY Steak sandwich. The food came in a reasonable time, with appetizers and salad first, then the rest. The apps were good, but the onion rings were a bit greasy. The honey wings were well-liked, as well as the artichoke hearts, which, strangely, were not oily like the onion rings. Yummy! The cheese pizzas paired with tater tots were certainly different, but the pizza was more like a reheated frozen pizza. The tots were okay. The NY Steak sandwich was good as well, with a side of steak fries - obviously! Overall, we enjoyed the meal and would definitely consider dining here in the future when in town.
