Had friends fly in from out of state and wanted to have a fun night before they flew back! Monterey Lanes included all of the great aspects of retro bowling with the perks of a nice bar and great food! Highly recommend for a fun night out.

So this alley is my Thursday night league spot, I'm a regular but I will give my unbiased review! There is ample parking at the alley. They have a bar & arcade. The food here is pretty good (I wouldn't recommend the pizza, their fries are great). Good spot for parties and gatherings. Expect to pay about $30 for an hour of bowling, which is about 2 games. Lanes are well maintained, but generally pretty dry outside of league bowling nights. The bathrooms aren't the greatest. They used to have a pro shop here pre-COVID, now the closest shop is over 50 miles away in Morgan Hill.

During a recent vacation spent driving around California, my wife and I bowled at three different lanes. Monterey Lanes was far and away the best of the three. I used to bowl semi-pro, so I know good lanes when I use them. These lanes were well-oiled and maintained. The entire facility was very clean as well. Their low prices were a nice surprise as well. My only issue was the lack of a call button to reach the desk. You had to walk over to it to report a problem. The walk was not an issue, but when you walk off a lane in bowling shoes, you never know how your slide will be affected when you start up again. Still, we will be back!

Haven't been to this location in years. A bit has changed with the pricing and some upgrades. Overall always a nice wholesome time to spend with family. Ordered some appetizers and we were actually surprised on how good they were, from the onion rings to the chicken tenders. They also have a nice bar area if you just want come in to have a drink and some bar food. Look forward to coming back again to brush up on some bowling skills.

I suggest a walk around the neighborhood and enjoying all the murals. Enjoy life and drink good beer. Cheers! SYOY!

Our waitress Rachel was great and took good care of us. We ordered the French dip (added Swiss, onions, and mushrooms) solid sandwich, though it could've used a touch more salt. The real star though, was the fish and chips. Genuinely some of the best I've ever had. Lightly battered, flaky, perfectly cooked. The vibe lands in that sweet spot of upscale casual without crossing into fine dining, comfortable but elevated. Highly recommend if you're passing through Carmel. We'll definitely be back.

The fish and chips is the ultimate meal. The burger was savory, soft and creamy just he right amount. It perfectly paired with the Talbott pinot noir they recommended. The only comment is make is the amount of French fries that were served with the burger. The plate was a lot larger looking because a sparse amount of fries was served alongside. Maybe add a little more next time just to balance it off. The servers/bartenders knew their stuff. They provided what they could in terms of what was popular and well liked. They said both items we ordered were the most popular. The fish and chips have won best fish and chips 3 years in a row. I would agree with this since I usually am not wowed with this dish. I couldn't resist ordering a dessert. The applied tart with vanilla ice cream was so satisfying. Overall service, food quality and experience was very good. If return over and over again for this same food and experience. If I could give 10 stars I would. Carmel and Brody's is a new destination.

Yet the ambiance, service, and food are very good! I love the various aspects of the decor, as well. Other than parking challenges on a busy night in the downtown, we were lucky to get a table for 5 relatively quickly, as this place isn't that large, with some additional bar seating, and it seems very popular. 5:30 was a great time, as we watched the waiting line grow longer after we were seated. Our server, Michael J., did a great job of greeting us, providing menus, and taking initial drink orders while we decided what to try. We decided to try BBQ honey wings, fried artichoke hearts, and onion rings for appetizers. The main courses were two orders of kids' cheese pizza and tater tots, a small dinner salad, a cup of New England-style clam chowder, and a NY Steak sandwich. The food came in a reasonable time, with appetizers and salad first, then the rest. The apps were good, but the onion rings were a bit greasy. The honey wings were well-liked, as well as the artichoke hearts, which, strangely, were not oily like the onion rings. Yummy! The cheese pizzas paired with tater tots were certainly different, but the pizza was more like a reheated frozen pizza. The tots were okay. The NY Steak sandwich was good as well, with a side of steak fries - obviously! Overall, we enjoyed the meal and would definitely consider dining here in the future when in town.

I was so thrilled to check this pub out especially with our doggie, Meatball the Bulldog! How perfect right? A Bulldog at The Bulldog Sports Pub. We snagged the last available booth, and it had crumbs on there. Not clean. SMH. I went to the bar to order some drinks for my boyfriend and me since he left his wallet in the car. It was raining that night, and we parked several blocks away. The service was okay. I remember the guy bartender said $29something, but then he charged me $30something. I got the Jalapeno Margarita while my boyfriend had the Tito's Mule. My drink was very sweet with a kick of jalapeno while his was pretty good. They had music playing. It seems that there is a modern jukebox where you can pay to pick a song. There was one pool table for people to play. So many people came up to pet Meatball and give him so much attention. He absolutely loved it! There was one guy who asked if he can say "Hi" to Meatball, and we said that it was okay like we normally do. This weirdo was basically making out with Meatball; not cool at all man. Then Meatball flipped on his back, and he was holding Meatball. My boyfriend told him to let go of Meatball. It was such an uncomfortable interaction. Not normal at all. He even said, "This is my NYE kiss!" SMDH. The guy sat down at a table that is across from us, and he kept looking at us. We quickly finished our drinks, and then we left to ring in the new year at our hotel lobby instead. We should have just hung out in our hotel lobby instead of going out; it was much better there.
