Great service. John is a very skilled electrician. He has done several jobs for me at my residence since 2017. He is very easy to work with and his prices are much lower than the competition. I read that some customers on yelp were unhappy about his changing his quotes. But I believe those individuals do not understand that if you change the details of a job, it may require more materials or more hours to accomplish. When you are given a quote it is an estimate. I've not ever had John change his price because I never change the details of my project. Bayshore Electric upgraded the main panel for my house. TL;DR: They are dishonest and you probably will end up paying much more than you expected. 10/12/2022 My response to the owner's reply.  1. She said that Juan Coronel goes by John. However, the full name of John I worked with is John Martinez. I attached the invoice I received from them. It has the names of all the people I worked with on it (I cover the last names of irrelevant people for their privacy).  It is surprising to know Juan and John are the same person even though their full names are completely different. This is another sign of how *non-transparent* they are. I will inquire with the Contractor State License Board of California about this to see if this is legal.  And even if this is TRUE, John is not the person who did the actual installation. He only showed up on the first day when we signed the contract and during the final inspection. The remaining work is done by another group of people. This is mentioned in other Yelp reviews as well. 2. The owner said my idea of negotiation was not to pay at all. This is NOT true. I did refuse to pay the first time they told me about the extra because I was shocked and confused. However, I offered to pay $300 after I received a copy of the receipts. (I also attach a screenshot of the email as proof.) But they didn't reply for a month. The reason why we didn't discuss more during this month is that the final inspection didn't pass the first time and I was waiting for them to come back to address the issues. Below is the detailed timeline. I offered to pay about 1/3 of the extra charge (~$300) about 1 week after they told me the extra charge. And they never replied. 08/23 - Job completion. John mentioned the extra charge the first time. I refused to pay. 08/30 - I talked to Tierza on the phone about this issue for the first time. She started threatening about putting me into debt collection. I told her to send me the receipts.  09/01 - I got some questions about the receipts and Tierza replied. I told her I wanted to pay $300 to settle it. But she never replies. (see screenshot 2) 10/11 - They passed the final inspection and we discussed the charge. I had a problem with some circuit breakers frequently tripping, as well as some other work I wanted done. Bayshore Electric was the only one of three electricians I contacted that responded, though I called Bayshore vs contacting the others by email or web form. It was not a rush job, but John was able to come out within a couple of days. He showed up within the appointment window, but called ahead anyway when it looked like he'd be right at the tail end of the window. The cost was very reasonable compared to what the internet suggested was the national average cost of the type of work I needed, and inexpensive considering this is the SFBA. John took into consideration our preferences and explained the options. John fixed the issue with the tripping breakers that day, and was able to do the other work the next day. I'm not certain how I will punish the person who shared a picture of their new heated toilet bidet on Facebook, but as soon as my wife saw it, I was tasked with a commitment to buy one of those and get it operating. This means we needed a power outlet in the toilet room. In addition, I'm not sure what the electrician who wired my house was thinking, but for some reason we have about 50 light switches and maybe 20 lights to turn on and off. We have three-way and four-way switches located in an almost reasonable configuration. However, when you start replacing switches because they wear out, the light switches start working occasionally, you make mistakes and decide you'd rather pay someone else to do it. Bayshore Electric had great Yelp reviews and I think they were earned. I made an appointment for an estimate, and they showed up on time a little over a week later. After I showed him the issues, he recorded them with pictures and said they'll send a proposal. I received the proposal a week later after I requested it. We had scheduled the work for one day, but an opening came up a day earlier and the team came over. They were masked up and professional. The quality of the work was excellent. They had to make a cut in the wall to trace the power wires, and the drywall was returned nearly seamlessly. Three of the four tasks were completed thoroughly. One of the other switches was a four-way. I had indicated it to the estimator, but he must not have caught it. There was a bit of confusion, they had thought they fixed it but didn't and went to the store for other parts and didn't get correct switch. This wound up adding quite a bit of time for no change in scope and they had to add an hour. In other words, the cost went up a significant fraction from a mistake that could have been avoided. Understand I consider four stars to be a business I would recommend highly and provided the service I hoped for. The work was excellent and I'm inclined to pay for quality, but the business ops, while mostly efficient, need some improvement. read more

Nice people, high cost and mediocre quality John and his team are friendly and approachable. We worked with them on a few projects, but kept having issues and we hoped that things would get better or they'd compensate for past mistakes. Unfortunately this wasn't the case. Pros: - Gave us a generator for the night when doing a panel upgrade - Friendly people - Pricing used to be good, but then they drastically increased prices Cons: - Left live wires uncapped in the ceiling (I had to catch this an another electrician was shocked that this happened) - No-show for at least 3 appointments. Routinely late for other appointments - Poor communication, including in cases of no-show and spending weeks waiting for follow-up work, and not doing all the work I initially asked - Didn't use proper AFCI circuit breakers according to code (I had to catch this) - Didn't make any attempt to do framing around main panel after upgrade (Stucco guy said he had never seen an electrician make so little effort) - Used an unnecessarily expensive main panel without mentioning it, possibly because they assumed we wanted solar in the future (another electrician said it was unnecessarily 50% more expensive since we didn't end up using that configuration) - Charged $750 for 1.5 hours of work to ground 3 outlets. This is absurd and an absolutely regret letting them get away with this. They finally showed up after 2 no-show appointments and I was too busy and tired to discuss why that rate was far too high, especially considering all the previous mistakes that had been made. Based on their good reputation I hired Bayshore to rerout wiring for our driveway lights. It was quiet complicated due to a motion detector light and nest camera. John and Chris did a great job! They were on time and I even got a text stating they were en-rout. John understood exactly what I wanted to do and is very capable. I was getting a new Heat Pump Water Heater and worked with EJ Plumbing that recommended Bayshore Electric to upgrade my electrical panel and run a string to where the water heater was to be installed. Bayshore was very easy to work with from the very beginning. They have done a lot of similar upgrades for the Heat Pump Water Heater program and they have also installed numerous electric car charge points. Communication with Bayshore was very easy by text, phone, and email. They also used the Home Pro app. My quote was spot on and I only had one last minute change and they came out to install the Sense monitor the next day. I should have mentioned it earlier so that they would have quoted with the entire job but I was not aware I needed it. On the install day, the work went very quickly and the garage was left cleaner then when they started. When it comes time to get a car charger, I am going to have to upgrade my main panel to 200A and I will definitely call Bayshore. read more

7 or 8 of the outlets in my home suddenly had no power so we called John to help take a look. He first checked the breaker and all the switches there seemed to be connected fine without issue. Then he suspected there may be something wrong with one of the outlet that causes the chain effect and brings down the other outlets. He quickly checks a few of outlets and found the exact problematic one which has burnt wire inside that causes the hot wire disconnected.
