Bayside is a wonderful spot to get some fresh air, friendly service, and yummy Mexican dishes on a beautiful spring or summer day! There are several different ourdoor seating options, umbrellas or full sun, water views everywhere you look, and free delish chips and salsa to start! The mezcalita is my personal fave, but the house marg is also great! We got the ceviche and the breakfast burrito for brunch and we loved both! Waterfront restaurant with lovely outdoor seating. One of the perks of Baltimore is the abundant waterfront restaurants and this is certainly one of them. Atmosphere: casual drinks and dinner spot with indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor is the highlight as you are close to the water and it's great on a nice night. They can accommodate large groups so also good for small celebrations and work happy hours. Make a reservation ahead of time for large parties. Otherwise, most nights you can walk in. Food: good Tex mex and some southwestern American food. Don't expect authentic Mexican as this will not deliver. We always get the combo fajitas as it's delicious and great for the value. Drinks: good margaritas! Other tequila and mezcal cocktails available. Wine and mezcal and tequila also there. Limited amount of beers on tap (~6). Service: great. We have been here multiple times and on one night the service was slow due to shortage of staff. Otherwise, we have had good service and short waits for our food. I went to Bayside for happy hour on a Tuesday! We sat right by the water but it was rainy. They have a great view. They have a $3 taco deal so I got 3 chicken tacos and my friend got 3 chorizo and we split. I also got the queso fundido and a mojito (happy hour deal). The mojito was great, the queso was yummy but there wasn't a lot. It was a small skillet. The tacos were stuff but lacked a bit of seasoning. My other friend got the barbacoa and they were a bit dry. Came down wanting outside dining. A resident walked by and suggested we try because it was really good food. The breeze was flowing and we conceded. Chips and salsa were immediately brought to the table. Food was very good, it took a while to come and was kind of difficult getting attention unless waitress was actually coming to your table. Was looking for a nice place to sit on the water and have cocktails with friends and havent been down here since they were acquired by new owners so figured it would be easy to check out. Sat in the outdoor space and I love how open they kept it, great water views and the day we went had a great cross breeze so it made an unbearably hot day bearable. Went when they were doing an $8 margarita special which were all delicious and had a burrito bowl that I would come back for. A friend had a birthday event here this past Saturday. There were a ton of us in the outside bar area. Unfortunately there was only 1 bartender seeing to us and thus service was VERY SLOW. I didn't eat while I was there and can't comment on the food. It was very hot and muggy that day and there weren't any outdoor fans and little air flow. I liked the ambiance and view and want to try another visit, next time without a big party...and I may go inside if it's too hot out. read more

I attended my office's year-end Holiday Party at the Bayside Cantina and was very impressed with the quality of the food, the genuine hospitality of the staff, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. I've worked in the restaurant business for years and I notice the little things: like the superior cleanliness around service areas, the perfectly cooked asparagus, and how the staff remembered my wife takes diet coke. I could tell that the management and staff were all well trained and on their "A" game. I used to go there many times, back in the day, when it was called the Bayside Cafe and loved it. I'm very happy to see a restaurant like the Bayside Cantina operating there now. It's a great location and a cool place to eat and have a drink. Bayside has been hyped up a lot in local food and neighborhood groups, and I'm always excited to support a new place. The service was great, all the staff was so friendly. The ambiance and architecture of the building is beautiful, it's a great large, open space with plenty of seating. The drink menu, especially margaritas, is reasonably priced and the drinks were really well made. However, if you're looking for authentic Mexican, this isn't the place. I ordered the burrito bowl and it seemed like every other chain Mexican restaurant's burrito bowl. The food was good, reasonably priced, and I definitely didn't leave hungry, but it didn't blow me away or match my expectations for a brand new restaurant in the old boathouse. I'll be back to try something different on the menu, hopefully I can update my review then! read more

Came for an after work happy hour with some friends on a Thursday night! Very nice atmosphere because it's right on the water and they have lots of outdoor seating. I got a mojito and sangria for happy hour, both were decent but maybe a little watery? Maybe that was just me. For food we shared two orders of nachos, one with chicken and one with shrimp. Both were decent but I've had better. And we also got an order of taquitos, which were pretty ok and came with a yummy sauce. Service was good but a little slow. read more

We came here for lunch to celebrate my friend's birthday. I made reservations in advance and told them it was my friends birthday. We sat outside facing the water. The server was very nice. And that's where the positives end. The food took forever to come out and when it came out it was lukewarm. All of the food the five of us ate lacked taste. Nothing was seasoned. I had steak and eggs, eggs scrambled. My eggs were over cooked and brown and dry. My steak was supposed to be medium rare was tough and chewy. The nachos tasted like cheeze whiz and wilted lettuce. We asked for a desert since they clearly forgot about it being my friends birthday. Even the server said oh I didn't know, happy birthday. To top it all off we all had upset stomachs afterward. It's so sad because the location is fantastic. The seating was nice and had a good view of the water. The service was quick and efficient. We started with the chicken nachos, which are on the happy hour menu. These nachos..... WERE SO GOOD! Honestly hand downs the best nachos I've had. The chips were layered with cheese and the chicken was grilled, which added another level of flavor. They were topped with lettuce, pico, and jalapeños. Definitely recommend! For our entrees, I got the shrimp, chicken, and steak fajitas. Very generous portion and enough for 2 people to share. My boyfriend got the salmon tacos which were also good! There was a lot of anticipation for this restaurant to open in the old Boathouse location. I went on the first Friday they were open with a group of friends and we had a great time. Especially for how busy they were on opening weekend. The food was good, nothing to rave about, just your typical Mexican and tex-mex options. If you are looking for really good Mexican food, this place isn't going to wow you. This place is beautiful! I've heard some people complain about wait time, but we went on a week night and were served so quickly! We ordered the full deal, drinks, apps, multiple meals, and dessert and everything was a hit! They even serve impossible meat to cater to vegans and vegetarians! Our server let us know they just opened so the kitchen is still working out the kinks so I would encourage everyone to be gracious while the staff get their footing! ​I'm a 38-year-old black male who celebrates equal rights as any other person. I have to say I will never enter this establishment again. I addressed my personal experience with the manager, and it simply ended in him NOT acknowledging what he did or his actions that impacted me. He asked me to reiterate my experience with him in front of the host, and they shrugged their shoulders as if I was the issue. The manager, not the host, disputed this encounter! I reiterated they shrugged shoulders and looked at me as if I, a black male, was the issue. It truly hurts me to leave a negative review for a business that represents brown people, but this is my honest review, and I hope that they understand how this negative experience affected me, a man of color, and that they don't do other people of color this way. Beautiful location. The food was subpar. I love this location and so badly want it to succeed. The tacos had zero flavor. She charged me for a seltzer water from the gun. Isn't that just water? Never have I ever been charged for club soda and I order it every where we go. They automatically include a 20% tip, which is high if there's an automatic tip included. Usually it's 18% and for groups of 5/6 or more. It was just two of us tonight. And, I've been in the service industry, so I get it, but our waitress was rude and inattentive at best. If you want to give this place a try, do it on a beautiful night and enjoy the view and maybe a margarita. Guacamole was good too! read more

My family hosted my graduation and 30th birthday party in the tiki bar for about 30 people last weekend!! The service between the two bartenders, Margo and Jose, was just incredible. all of the guest loved their energy!! Margo even helped my mom decorate when she arrived an hour early. We also had amazing food -- tacos and wings!! Everyone had such an amazing time and the tiki bar was a perfect spot for the amount of guests! Highly recommend having your next party here! read more
