Kalea Kava House - A bunch of board games that people can play.

**INITIAL REVIEW**…read more Ever since I was introduced to "the new" ways of kava, I have been enjoying it and its health benefits. Though almost all the kava places I have been to are amazing, However, Kalea Kava House (which I will shorthand simply to Kalea for the remainder of this review) is special to me because 1.) it is the one I have gone to the most and 2.) it is the closest one to my residence. After a decent number of visits, I habe to say that Kalea is a fine kava bar establishment, building on the community here in Palm Bay, especially south Palm Bay, through a mutual love of an alternative to alcohol. Though an address is provided, Kalea is located in the Palm Bay West, the same plaza that has NCG Cinema, Planet Fitness Palm Bay, and Winn Dixie Malabar Rd./Minton Rd. Kalea is located on the southside of Palm Bay West in between Jamrock and Wing Stop. Upon entering you are treated to an ambiance that seems to be a hybrid of Hawaiian vibes and nerdlore. Kalea itself is a Hawaiian word that means "joy." And trust me, if you have some nerdom/geekdom preferences, you'll definitely feel that here with the numerous movie posters and comic book references on the walls. They even have the pirate that introduces you in the Spongebob Squarepants series smiling right above cleaned shells. Kalea's primary menu consists of either kava or kratom. They have the classic Kava flavors Fiji, Tonga, and Vanautu, the flavors that all Kava bars are known to have. As for kratom, they have the three versions, too, of green, white, and red. They also have the trainwreck which is all three mixed together. Ultimately, where they differentiate from other kava bars is their own mixed creations created by Gen, whom I known since her manager/server days back when she worked for the Bat Cave Gastropub. I will say there should be some caution given as this is still a "bar for grown-ups." One of the restrooms has some adult content on their walls. Nothing of a corn nature, but artistic nudity is definitely present. Also, many of the patrons and staff have magnificent potty mouths. If you can't handle the most-notorious synonym for female genatalia, then you probably shouldn't come in. Also, everyone gets along here, but take into account the political spectrum spans the whole spectrum. So if you are left or right, we all get along here to some mutual extent. Ultimately, I will always support Kalea for what it is, the friendships I have made here, and the kava I enjoy. Definitely stop by during the many events they have throughout the week including free breakfast Wednesdays and Fridays with a drink purchases, art club Mondays, trivia night, open mic nights, and plant swaps. For now, I will give Kalea the highest rating I often give a mom n' pop joint, four out of five stars. I will have to check out all the other cool things they do to see how it goes to see if they earn their fifth star for consistency. But still, try them out taking into account the aforementioned.

Kalea Kava House - The bar. It is here you'll meet one of four kava baristas: Gen, Jason, Hans, or Curry (Yes, Curry).

The outdoor patio is where the magic happens. Surrounded by palm trees and shaded by tiki-style huts, it's got serious island biker vibes. Live bands rock the stage and fill the space with energy that makes you wanna stay all day (and night). Inside, it's all vintage Florida dive-bar charm--pool tables, classic rock on the walls, and locals who know how to party. I grabbed a cold brew, some sticky BBQ wings that were finger-licking good, and shared a Hawaiian pizza that surprised me in the best way--crispy crust, sweet pineapple, and just the right amount of cheese. Parking can get tight when the bikes roll in deep, but that just adds to the atmosphere. Earl's is the kind of place where locals mix with tourists, and everyone's there for a good time. Highly recommend if you're in Sebastian and want food, music, and Florida biker bar character all in one stop.
