Unfortunately due to sanitation protocol we could not check in to our room earlier but that was ok. I would rather wait for the room to be clean and sanitized than rush them. We were allowed to use all hotel amenities which was great and time just flew by. We used the kayaks and paddle boards. There was different activities for the kids and they stayed occupied and were not bored at all. One thing to note is that The hotel pool is very small and water was very murky. I did not let my kids get In because it did not look clean. Also, because the pool is super small, you can't stay socially distant from people. But the hotel been at the beach you don't need pool to be honest. Plenty activity to do at beach side. The room was nice, clean and fairly spacious. The bed was very comfortable but the pillows on the other hand were huge and felt uncomfortable. Overall, location of hotel is great. There is restaurants, Publix and CVS near it. Plenty things to see and do around.

Our daughter was recently married here and we did a full three-night resort buyout. While the property itself is absolutely stunning the nine months leading up to the wedding were incredibly frustrating. Communication was consistently poor--weeks would go by without any response. We were promised a Florida Resident Discount by two different general managers, but it was never honored. (This is a significant discount that we did not get as promised). In total, we went through four general managers, each making new promises that never materialized. Even weeks before the wedding, when we were trying to make final payment, we couldn't get a response. When I finally raised concerns with the newest manager, her response was, "I have like six brides all contacting me at once." With all due respect, that's not how you handle a time-sensitive, stressful situation for a bride and her family. To add to the confusion, their website still showed units available just days before our event--even though we had rented out the entire resort. The units themselves are not equipped as expected either--we had to go out and purchase basic items like dish towels, a dish scrubber, pot holders, and more. Their new lanai roof leaks and ruined a couple of the custom built items we thought were safely stored since it's a brand new structure. We unpacked the U-Haul when we got home and had cockroaches in a few of the things stored in the main house.

I had the girl at the desk come look and I called Jonathan of his emergency number. Although not an emergency the front desk girl did not help and I have properties I have to monitor several cameras as well as I work from my phone. Jonathan did not answer, so about a half hour later I called again as it was around 830pm and I wanted to catch him before he went to bed as he lives on the property. He answered and proceeded to tell me Internet was down on the whole property, however the cottage next to me the cpl were sitting on their porch and I asked if they could connect to wifi and they said yes. You have to be able to connect to the guest not main wifi. I couldn't connect to guest. Jonathan proceeded to tell me I was not the one who made the reservation and could he " speak with my mother"! This was very offensive as the FIRST stay I paid over $1200 for 2 days and this stay I paid over $900! Why he was asking to speak with my mother I have no clue but he became very belligerent and rude! Claiming no one had wifi and if I wanted to leave tonight he'd refund me!!!! Leave at 9 pm with my family????? He then began to ask for my mother over and over. Instead of just saying that the wifi reception was very poor in my area and could he give me a partial refund .....he proceeded to speak to me very condescending and tell me I could go to the office and login to their wifi! I told him I would be to the office and expect a refund for the following day and would be leaving. In the morning when I went to the office Jonathan came walking up and I introduced myself and asked if he would like to see "MY ID"! He then proceeded to tell ME I was very rude and he did me a "favor" last stay because it was the only cottage left. Well, I booked it and I PAID $1200 so what exactly was the favor????? The moral to the story, get better service so people in the back can connect and do what they need to do with a good wifi connection! I'm not the only one that has made a review about poor wifi signal nor am I the only one that's made a review on Jonathans poor customer service!

The tiki bar does not have a liquor license ( margarita was made with wine), and the food was subpar for the price point (delivered to you in to go containers only with plastic forks). The atmosphere felt chaotic with children running and screaming throughout the property, yet staff were quick to police adults - even interrupting us for quietly playing cards on our own balcony after 7pm. Water sports were another frustration: staff were unfriendly, offered no guidance, and only appeared to yell at guests for touching equipment without a waiver, rather than having someone present to assist when guests of any kind are on the beach. Nothing on the property is open past 7pm, and guests are pushed out of the hot tub before 9pm. Overall, the experience felt overly restrictive, poorly communicated, and not worth the cost. We will not return. I recommend if you are going to spend THAT much money on a property in the keys, book your stay literally anywhere else. Edith is the only member of the staff that's pleasant and worth talking to. Thank you for making this awful stay at least somewhat worth one star

I had the pleasure of staying in one of the villas and outside of the stairs just to get off the ground floor, and never mind to your bedroom, the place was gorgeous. (Yes, I know this is Florida, it is the coast, and you don't want to have living space on the ground floors) Otherwise, everything was quiet in November. Few people at the pools, almost no one at the beach, and even fewer at the bar. The bar doesn't serve hard liquor (since it doesn't have that kind of license), but it has a good selection of other drinks and some interesting mixes to get around the limitations -- like a sake piña colada. Only staying for a few days and looking for more quiet than adventure I did not take advantage of any water sports or other activities. The "beach" here is okay, but it is the Keys. I don't think you are coming here for world-class beach access.

The swimming pool in the back could use updating and was only 3 ft deep even though in the middle it said 4 ft. I knew it wasn't 4 ft because I am 5'6", and it came to my waist. It's not cold when you get in. There were chaise lounges available with small tables. The private beach area is small but very nice. There were paddle boards and kayaks available. People were swimming and sunbathing. Next door was Snook's restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and there was a shortcut to it near the pool. Great food and ambiance at Snook's. Bayside does take good care of the rooms, and Shari was outstanding with her customer service.

For our first visit to Key Largo, we stayed in the Pelican Key Largo Cottages. We knew nothing…read moreabout the area, and were hoping for the best, as I realize that even reading reviews, sometimes you don't always get what you're hoping for. First impression upon checking in with the front desk was positive. The attendant was very friendly, professional, and helpful. We were booked in Room 120 (Hibiscus), a double queen bed room, which was the first building (road side), going into the lot. Parking was free, and available on a first come, first serve basis. Unfortunately, another car deliberately blocked us in the first night of our stay. Once someone else moved their car, my husband was able to maneuver our vehicle out, but evidently, someone thought that the space we chose to park, belonged to them. The room was affordably priced; we booked through booking.com, and received a competitive rate. We visited just a few weeks prior to Memorial Day weekend (tourist season). Check in is at 3pm, but they allow you to arrive anytime after 1pm, to enjoy the docks and the free kayak rentals. We didn't arrive until around 4pm. First impression upon walking into the room was the fact that it smelled VERY clean! It didn't smell like they just plugged in some room deodorizers to mask the smell; it smelled like freshly laundered sheets (like bleach and Downy). The room was small, there was a small refrigerator, and possibly a microwave (I can't recall if a microwave was in the room, but I believe so. There was a very tiny bathroom off from the main room, with a small, one person shower (no bathtub). The lighting in the room wasn't the greatest; it came across a bit dark and cold, with little to no natural light (small windows obstructed by foliage). I wasn't crazy about the color of paint that they chose; I didn't think that it created a calming ambience. There's no carpeting, which is fine, but the floor is very cold, so I would suggest bringing house slippers or flip flops, if you don't want that on your feet. There were some gnats in the room, but I noticed that was an issue within many public spaces near the water. Outside of that, we saw no sign of any other bug life. The beds were very comfortable, and I got a great nights sleep. The room had obviously been updated with the bathroom having a modern sink/knobs/vanity, and the shower was nice and hot. No issues with the plumbing. They provided complimentary shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. There wasn't a blow dryer in the room, but you can borrow one from the office. There is no complimentary breakfast; not even just muffins, but there are several restaurants within walking distance. We chose to dine at Doc's Diner, which wasn't on their recommendations, but we found it to be exceptional. Be prepared for the free roaming chickens all over Key Largo to wake you super early. There were two roosters just outside of our window crowing at just after 6am. As for the grounds, walking down to the pier, the sunrises and sunsets are stunning, and the grounds have been kept up well, and we enjoyed them immensely. There was no loud parties or ruckus after hours, we didn't feel unsafe. There is no pool, but there is beach swimming available. There are plenty of picnic tables, chairs, and loungers. All in all, if you're looking for luxury, this isn't your place. This is budget friendly, clean, and a nice stay if you're not planning on spending a lot of time in your room. I would stay again, but I wouldn't choose the Hibiscus room, simply because it's facing the road, and you can hear traffic all night long. I would choose a room either closer to the docks, or even better, overlooking the water.

Plenty of great places to eat within walking distance.
