Being from Baytown TX, I've been to a few Baytown Seafoods. Some fine, a few no so fine. This one was on the great side. Decent selection of bottled beer. Well prepped meal of grilled shrimp and scallops (at another BS I only got 1 scallop, and had to ask for it). Service was efficient and attentive, the place is clean and comfortable. Stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night. There were plenty of available tables, which initially had us concerned, but there was no reason to be! Lol. Great variety of food on the menu. My husband and son both ordered the grilled mahi, which was excellent...nice thick filet. I had the shrimp Pad Thai, and it was delicious, too! The egg rolls were perfectly light and crispy. If you like fried pickles, give theirs a try. So good! We received excellent service, as well. We will be back if we're in the area! read more

We stopped in for some alligator. It was the worst alligator we've ever eaten: tough, swampy tasting. And the sauce was equally terrible. I guess the good news is that it was only $10. To go order-Had the fried oysters and shrimp combo, wasn't greasy and tasted fresh, good flavor. Came w tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, lemon, and horseradish. It was very good. Combo came with fries and a side salad consisting of lettuce, a few shavings of carrot, and packaged ranch dressing. Also ordered the shrimp cocktail, was not fresh and ended up taking one bite, spitting it out. One thing is for certain here in Texas...is that they love having all their food...fried. This was my 3rd day here and I've had nothing else but fried food. And it wasn't my fault either. I was invited here and as such, they force fed me 3 times a day. So coming here and ordering the "Seafood sampler" was probably not the wisest choice since everything on the plate was fried and with this sampler, they focused on quantity and not quality. So I wasn't at all surprised at the end when I felt light headed from all that grease and oily goodness. But on this seafood platter, there were stuffed crab (only non-fried food), fried shrimp, fried scallops, fish fillet and a few others that I forgot about. And fries were included too. I hear this place is a chain. Rumor has it that a Cambodian fisherman owns these chains as evidenced by a few Cambodian paintings along with the dozen or so Go-Texas signs, plaques, banners, paintings, etc all over the establishment. Definitely family oriented. Pretty big and it accommodates big groups too. Beer is found here as well. read more

We are here from Houston on spring break and wanted to have some local seafood for dinner. This was a fun local spot that was quite crowded for a Monday night. I had grilled flounder and it was great. My son had a seafood platter which he enjoyed. Only downside was that there were just 2 waitresses working so service was slow. read more

The service was nonexistent...could not get the waitress to take order...refill drinks...had yo use the cheapest plastic fork...no knife..on a paper plate. The small town Resturant had been here for years. It's has a good atmosphere, the food is decent. The stand outs for me are the chicken fried chicken, it's always very tender and juicy. Advertised as a Oyster Bar, but had no oysters. Appetizers looked burnt. They state that you can substitute side items for an extra charge, but then not all sides are allowed to be substituted. Waitress asked my husband if he wanted another beer, I asked her to go ahead and bring me another too and she told me I had to finish my first one before she could bring me a second one. (I had 1/4 left in the bottle). Mahi Mahi was over cooked, driest fillet I've ever tasted, steamed veggies were raw and the coleslaw tasted like it had set around there for days. My husband suggested they try using fresh, new oil to deep fry their food in. I'm not a picky eater at all but this is the Worst place to try and eat ever!! read more

Coleslaw was nothing special and Crayfish were a little disappointing- fried within an inch of their life, but the gumbo was good, piping hot and just the right amount of spice and lots of seafood in it, and then the catfish was excellent- not so heavily breaded that you feel like you're eating a fried mound of breading, and not overcooked. Baytown Seafood in Van Vleck had many contractor pickups in the parking lot (good start). So we stopped for lunch. My wife had 6 fried shrimp. She said it was the best fried shrimp she has had since we ate at Top Water Grill 3+ years ago. She said it had that "Gulf" taste. I had the grilled flounder étouffée. Being a full blooded Cajun I was skeptical of the étouffée. I was pleasantly surprised. The étouffée was as good as my grandmother made (almost). The grilled flounder gave it a light smokey flavor.
