Dr. Hoffman retired shortly after placing a crown. The crown was not placed correctly and is causing pain. I was told it needed to be replaced by the hygienist and would be replaced at no charge . However, the new dentist taking over Dr. Hoffman's patients refused to replace the crown. He said " I charge $ 5000 and I will not replace for free the crown due because of someone else's mistake " In addition my insurance won't cover a new crown for 5 years. This dentist obviously only cares about lining his pockets and doesn't care about the patients well-being or dental health. read more

The very best dental experience I have had. Caring and friendly staff. Dentist was able to diagnose my problem right away. I had to have a crown and root canal. I have been seeing Dr Castellano for a few years now and I have always been impressed with how thorough he and his staff are and also how caring and compassionate they are. I had a lower right molar extracted yesterday and I've got to say I was really impressed. He did such a good job. I wasn't in pain during the procedure and then after the procedure I wasn't in pain. He recommended I use an ice pack a few times, but I didn't even need it. Basically whatever expectations I had going in yesterday were far far exceeded. read more

I would like to share my experience with BayView Dental with Dr. Castellano. 18 months ago he told me I need to do a root canal. You will ask, Why I am telling this now ? Because I am still suffering from his care! Every doctor has a right to make a mistake, but has no right to ignore the patient pain. When his endodontist have done root canal I was making the appointments with Dr. Castellano 3 times complaining with tears that I am in pain, I can't sleep ! Two times he just filed down my crown, and on a third appointment he has offered a steroid shot ! He even did not check what is going on. I understood he got my money and my insurance money, so I am not a point of his interest anymore. I went to Dr.Oyola. She immideately find out, that one canal is not treated at all and she sent to Dr. Castellano the pictures to prove it. So I had to do root canal again, and my sharp pain was replaced with discomfort and unpleasant odor above this tooth. I asked another doctor what is going on. He said looks like need to replace the crown. How do you think I feel ? Every day I wish some day Dr. Castellano will get the same unprofessional health care like he provided to me. read more

I had an issue with one of my teeth, and asked if they could squeeze me in the next morning. After a brief wait, the receptionist advised that Dr Castellano was out on leave, however Dt Koulekova was filling in, and...could see me at 9am the next morning. The assistant greeted me and promptly tool x-rays. I met with Dr Koulekova, who put me at ease immediately. She diagnosed my problem and although I didn't need immediate action, she recommended a few options for me. The staff is friendly, empathetic, and makes a visit to the dentist much less stressful. read more

I made an appointment for my husband, my high school son, and me to become established patients before our cleaning at Bayview Dental Associates. My husband and I refused to take the panoramic radiographic image and full mouth x-ray, knowing insurance would not cover it. The office said they would write it off. I asked my previous dentist place to email the medical release form; they even filled it out for us and would immediately email the records and images. All we had to do was sign it. I often asked them to print it out, but they ignored my request. The assistant and doctor pushed us to take the X-ray and panoramic images. The equipment didn't work. They struggled to operate the machines. My husband and I were there for over 2 hours; the doctor never came by to examine us. I made the appointment to have my husband go first so he could pick up our son at school because he was the last one on the schedule. I told the assistant. However, she disregarded what I conveyed and asked me to come in first. We had to pick up our son from school, and at that time, my husband and I felt highly uncomfortable; we walked out of the office. They end up billing the insurance anyway. This place is a scam, the worst experience ever. They want your money. Please save yourself and your loved ones your precious time and a significant headache and choose another dental practice for your dental care. read more

Absolutely wonderful team at Bayview Dental. I have had four or five visits and never had to wait past the appointment time. Dr. Castellano and his dental assistants are exceptional in their desire to make the experience as comfortable as possible, even though you know you are going to be in pain! At least if, like me, you have a bunch of extractions and the inevitable sore gums! I have had dental implants with a lower denture, and all are a perfect fit. I chose to have these before my gums fully healed, and as such, I have incurred some irritation, but Dr. Castellano has worked patiently with me to make adjustments to minimize my discomfort. Based on my personal experience, I would highly recommend Bayview, both at Dr. Castellano's Clark Road office and at Bayview's Bee Ridge Road office, where I used to go when I had teeth! read more

My husband and I moved to Sarasota and had no one to ask about dental recommendations. it was hard because we were with our previous dentist for 30 years. we also had new insurance. we tried t do our due diligence as far as research. we found many dentists in the area only take cash and you have to bill your insurance yourself. Dentist and staff are very professional and helpful in answering questions and providing advice. Currently, I'm in the process of getting dental implants. It's a one-stop shop, extracting teeth, implants, and crowns. In PA, I would have to go to three different offices to have this work done. Great job! I have not been to the dentist in many many years and wanted to get a check up and than hopefully get my broken front teeth fixed. The staff was nothing but kind and explained everything to me in detail. I need a few other fillings fixed first but my Dr Mira Koulekova went over everything with me with beautiful pictures of my teeth to see what was wrong with some other issues. They take my in network insurance Cigna and helped understand what they will pay. I am very happy with this company at this time and recommend them highly. read more

Myself and my 2 sons were in need of a cleaning. My husband received services from BayView Dental so I thought we'd make it a family thing. When I called to schedule an appointment, I made it clear we were need of a cleaning and my goal was to get us all in before school started. The lady I spoke to was very nice and was able to get us all in (different days) but before we started back to school and work. My appt. was first and I was there for over an hour only to be talked to and not get anything done, but a couple x-rays (even though my previous dentist sent my file over). I was told I needed to get two fillings on my back molars because they have deep pockets, not because I have cavities. I figured this was something that would have to be done down the road since their wasn't any sign of cavities yet. They said let's schedule you up. My next appt was two days later. I show up and they give me a paper to sign with what I am going to owe for the day to get these two fillings. It was not explained to me that there would be an out of pocket cost for this before. I explained I was not in the position to do that right now and they said ok well that's it then, we will go schedule you up for a later date. I said, aren't you going to clean my teeth? And the lady stated that's not what this appt was for. So, basically all I really needed was a cleaning, but went for two different appointments to not even have that scheduled. Also, why would fillings be put in before my teeth are even cleaned......on top of that, why am I paying for fillings when I do not even need them?? This place is a money hungry scam!! I then asked when I bring my boys in, are they getting their teeth cleaned? She said no, it would be the new patient exam only. My boys are 8 and 14-why do they need a plan besides getting their teeth cleaned every 6 months?? The whole point was to get this done before school started and now I would have to miss work and pull them out of school for another appointment. Unbelievable. After speaking with my husband about my experience, he confirmed the same money hungry scheme at the office he attended. They are trying to pull his wisdom tooth because it is too hard to clean. He asked if there was a problem with it or if there was a cavity and the answer was no. Then why does it need pulled of it is not bothering him? The second time he went for a cleaning the hygienist spitefully did not clean that area. I would not recommend this practice to anyone!!! read more

These are scammers, they are supposedly within my Humana dental plan, but state on their payment disclosure form that their reimbursement from the patients insurance company is not a substitute for full payment, and that the patient is responsible for all costs of dental treatment, including, but not limited to, any fees the insurance company does not cover. I would have to TOTALLY DISAGREE with those who have given them a poor rating, at least for the office on Stickney Point Rd with Dr Bilov. Everyone I've dealt with so far, 4 visits, have been great. Everything explained including worst case scenario for costs. Dr Bilov and staff have been very kind and excellent in their treatments. My wife & I are very happy after having gone to the same dentist for over 30 years ( he was excellent but his prices were getting much too high) we were very reluctant to go to someone else but this has been a great experience for us & we HIGHLY recommend this office & Dr Bilov. read more

This place has a terrible time communicating to its clients, insurance companies and each other! Unless you want to jump through hoops for THEM and their uneducated workers who cannot put in proper coding or call about appointments because they ASSumed you where already contacted! Seriously! And with the first visit, they don't even do a cleaning. They just look at your teeth, take x-rays and send you on your way for a week or two to miss another day of work for a cleaning that they don't even talk to you about stuff they "deem necessary" before you get a huge bill that insurance could have covered if they put the paper work together correctly read more

Wonderful front desk n reception..office very clean..appt was at 930..I arrived at 9am..was going back at 935...hygienist was very nice..made me feel relaxed..dentist arrived after xrays..had bad news..tooth needed pulled..but he was very informative..price was right..tge only downside...a full exam is 600.00 then you have to pay between 100 n 600 more dollars to be on a smile care plan..so for a guy tgat don't have greatest teeth I got to pay 1200 for 1st year and 600 each year after..basically it just covers cleaning but don't include fillings or a yank. You get a tiny bit off of crowns n fillings but not worth tge 600 read more

Hands down the worst staff, exam, office, & overall experience! I have moved all over the country for my career and have had several dentist and hygienist and this was the first time I knew they were trying to scam me. I have never had a bad exam or teeth cleaning. I'm 32, consistently get my teeth cleaned every 4 months and have always had amazing dental visits. My first and last visit to this office I was first examined by an elderly women who didn't know how to properly put the X-ray pieces in my mouth. I had to help and readjust because I was almost choking. Shortly after a "dentist" came in, didn't introduce herself, didn't shake my hand or even look me in the eyes started her exam. She started saying and excessive amount of codes and numbers. I know from past visits that the numbers are how soft/deep your gums are...1 being the best to about 7. I have consistently been a 1-2 and floss 2x daily to ensure I never hit a 3 +. Well this dentist started off by saying every area was a 5,6 and even a 7! I knew that wasn't correct. She then said I needed perio work and I was now a periodontal patient. After no more than 3 min she said she was finished with her exam, did not explain anything, & told me someone would be in to go over my dental plan. I'm thinking my dental plan?? All I wanted was my regular teeth cleaning. A few minutes goes by and a receptionist comes in with my dental plan. Below is my 3 page list of everything I apparently needed done. Please keep in mind I get my teeth cleaned 3 x a year and haven't had a cavity in over 5 years. 2 cavities, 4 surface resins, 2 resin composite, OSHA infection control, 8 perio scale and root, 2 subgingival irrigation, 2 arestin antibiotic, anesthesia, and periodontal maintenance. (now this is just phase 1...they wanted me to do this 3 times!). My total bill came to $1,248!! I told them they were crazy and I was going to get a second opinion. I ended up going back to Sarasota Smile...who by the way is amazing!!! The only reason why I left was because they were not in my insurance network. After going to Bayview and knowing they were just scamming me and I'm sure other people, I decided I would rather pay 20% and know I was in great hands then deal with people who clearly don't care about what you actually need. At Bayview dental it is very clear that they diagnose you with items that are not correct just to make your bill much more expensive. I would never step foot into another Bayview dental office. I did go back to Sarasota Smile and showed them my "dental plan" from Bayview and they asked me if this was a joke. I told them no, this is all the work they wanted to do. They said I was very smart to get a second option bc nothing listed was accurate. Turns out the only thing I have to do is get an old filling replaced. Which will only cost me out of pocked $60. Bad experience! I went in for a cleaning only; after being there 6 months prior with Dr. Clark (he left), with no work needed as I have good teeth. This new dentist Dr. Alison Heusner said I need my gums scraped for $564(my cost) and the hygienist said they could not just clean my teeth as planned, it would be unethical. Dr. Heusner said my gums had a 4mm reading the hygienist kept changing her numbers and last said it was as high as 7mm. I was given an estimate and told I would have to come in every 3 months for future scrapings, $114. They wanted to do an unnecessary procedure that is painful, expensive and can be bloody really concerns me to the point I complained to my insurance carrier and may file a complaint with the state dental board. It felt like I went in for an oil change on my car and left being told I need a new engine. I couldn't leave fast enough. They made me feel awful after leaving. I will never go back!! A few days later I went to a new dentist. She said I have great teeth ,only 1 spot near a molar with a salivary gland had a 4mm reading, which is not bad , no scraping needed they just cleaned my teeth and did a great job. I gave her a very positive review. I was not told where Dr Clark went, why he left or called or sent a letter stating there was a new dentist taking his place. Very unprofessional read more

Bad news! Stay away from Bayview Stickney Point. Told me I had "periodontal disease" then wanted to "clean" my teeth 2x as much as insurance allowed, and pay the overages out-of-pocket. When I got a 2nd opinion that confirmed I did not have periodontal disease and told them I wanted the regular cleanings, they refused to clean my teeth and tried to get me to sign a refusal form, which I did not do. Then they suddenly dropped my insurance (so they said) and wanted me to pay everything out-of-pocket. Needless to say I ran - not walked away - to another (& better) dental practice. Noting also that they in the year I went there they went through 3 dentists and 2 hygienists. Stay away! They are just a $$$-generating outfit with no regard or respect for what the consumer knows or wants. read more

Just as Ashley G.---Horrible. I have been going there for probably 10 years--(they accepted my insurance) yesterday when I went in for my regular cleaning which I have done every 4 months--I was refused treatment. There was a new female dentist--there is ALWAYS a new dentist. She evaluated my teeth and came up with a treatment plan with 34 procedures??? I told her I couldn't afford anything at this time because I just had surgery and am trying to pay that off. When she was through I was told to go up front--I did and was told I owed $20.00 co- pay. I said what about my cleaning?? They are like, Oh no, we will not clean your teeth unless you agree to some of these treatments. Oh well, I told them see ya, I'll be finding a new dentist.
