But this one here in Winnipeg is unique, local, soulful, rich, and mystical. I was going to criticize the soup being too little, but after devouring the last bite, I realized it was perfect, and most other ramen has too much. The service and artful ambiance are delightful and authentic. Beyond that, I'm speechless.

First-nation-inspired bites with a modern and eclectic ambiance makes for a terrific dining experience. The first time I had the poutine with bison and a sweetgrass lemonade. These were twice as appetizing as they sound, and do they ever sound appetizing. So impressed was I from this first visit that I not only slipped into a strange, passive voice for the last few sentences, but also that I returned for lunch the next day. On my second visit, I sampled the bannock eggs benedict with bison and some frybread to go. Once again, every last bite hit. Shout out to my server both days, whose name I never got (might be Robyn from other reviews I've seen recently?) She was so congenial and attentive, in spite of her having to take care of 5-10 tables at a time on consecutive days. She made great small talk and was a tremendous ambassador for the restaurant, for which no advocacy is necessary: the food and atmosphere speak for themselves. Can't wait to go back again: thanks, FCB!

This past Tuesday, a friend and I went there for dinner before the Dasha concert down the street at the Park Theatre. The lone waitress shared that it was her second shift. The place was packed and we waited an eternity for our drinks, and what should have been an enjoyable dining experience ended up being a tense, unpleasant few hours. The waitress was not to be faulted at all. The management should have known to have another server given that a packed to the rafters concert was going on a block away. The food was great, but I will be hard pressed to go back there again.

My friend tried the interesting burger called The Oakwood Crown and Coke burger. He said the juice tasted like that popular alcoholic drink. He said it was pretty delicious. I tried the 2 egg Beet Latkes. It was unique to me. The beet cakes were tasty and that sauce that comes with it was delicious! The horseradish dill sour cream. I liked this healthy meal. The potatoes were also well made. The waitress was super helpful and sweet. This place seems welcoming to all types of people from what I saw. I definitely recommend this place.
