We had take out/ delivery the other night while visiting Gibsons. We were all very impressed with the quality of the food. It was very good and the portions are a good size. Not the best Chinese food I've had, but the service and view were 5 stars. The view is absolutely stunning, and they have outdoor seating as well which is right overlooking the water. The inside of the restaurant is decorated with care and although showing some wear in places, it's delightful and welcoming. The typical Chinese horoscope paper placemats are there with the covered chairs, red lanterns and bamboo. Our waiter was sublime with a grace and emotional openness that is rare. He was attentive to us as well as all other tables. Being the only waiter on hand on the quiet evening, he took care of everyone and it was clear he was enjoying himself and did his job well. We ordered a family style meal with fried rice, broccoli with beef, chicken with black bean sauce and egg drop soup. The soup and rice were all right. The sauce for both of the entrees was meh. Portions were large. We took leftovers but didn't eat them because it just wasn't tasty food. The waiter told us before we ordered that it wasn't the best Chinese food. Ha! The bathroom is a bit scary. No lock and just one room for both genders. Free street parking is open all along Marine Drive and nearby as well. I can't imagine why this great restaurant has garnered such poor reviews from my fellow yelpers. First, it is a very nice place to sit. It's quite classy, quiet and very comfortable and has the most wonderful view across the inlet. We found the service to be friendly, patient and knowledgeable. The menu is almost unbelievably vast and varied and it's all freshly prepared. We ordered drinks and then the best egg rolls I have ever had outside Asia. My wife ordered a variety of meats with crisp steamed veggies (com guy lan). I ordered chilli salt squid. The meals were sensational and the equal of anything we have eaten in this part of the world. We were surprised at how inexpensive the whole deal was. This is an excellent restaurant and I recommend it without reservation. read more

This place is interesting.... beautiful view, what could be a nice space but is filled with miss match chairs covered in wrinkly dated slips. The service is delayed due to only one server, she's cheerful. The food being produced is on a scale from mediocre to bad. Portions are outrageous and much to large to fit into an average humans mouth. Mount Chow Main could feed an army. My chicken was deep fried and dusted with almonds, flavour you ask? Cease to exist. I did however enjoy the spring roll, just wish the plum sauce had better flavour. Not sure I'll visit again but hopefully they can take this review and produce some better quality food. Only one server for the entire restaurant made for a very long wait to be seated, to order, and then to have our leftovers packaged. They could have used another two servers and a host/busser. We ordered the dinner-for-three meal. The wonton soup was good, and the pork was nicely seasoned. The appetizer plate was fine, and there were three servings of each item, though the breaded deep-fried wings were tasteless and a little strange. We each had to choose a main dish; we chose chicken chow mein, gai lan with oyster sauce, and Szechuan beef. The flavours were only fair, and the veggies were in large pieces and undercooked. The portions were huge. Massive. Too much for three people, and even with six, everyone would still be quite full. We would have preferred more quality and less quantity. read more

Great prices and truly amazing food. We are from Toronto where there is a lot of authentic Chinese restaurants but this one is one of the best we've had the pleasure to try. Tasty and moderately priced Chinese food! We went in for dinner on a Covid Friday night. We got the best seat in the house, overlooking the water. In the summer there is an outdoor patio overlooking the water as well. It was completely empty when we arrived, and we were a little worried, but we shouldn't have been! We ordered two of the combo dinners as well as another dish off the main menu. All our food was delicious, hot, fresh and massive portion sizes! I think the owner was worried we didn't like our food, because we didn't even manage to eat half of it, but there was just so much! Of course we happily took it home and ate it for lunch the next day. We both had sweet and sour chicken, and this place makes it so good that we would trade sweet and sour pork for it any day! My husband and I ordered take out from Bayview tonight. We were wondering how they would be like compared to Vancouver chinese food. We were very surprised by the large quantity and excellent food! It was much better than what we were getting in North Vancouver Chinese restaurants over the past couple of years. The only suggestion I would have is for some more spicy dishes, that is the only thing they could do better. Thank you To Bayview for the great dinner! It's really all quite dreadful. Two people working and slow...with Covid restrictions and challenges the wait is forgivable. However ...The food quality is alarmingly poor. It's not about being on a "high horse" as one recent reviewer mentioned. It is however about providing a reasonable meal for the price being asked. Our meals were tasteless, heavy mounds of uninspiring slop. We barely touched our food. Honestly ....I'm amazed they are able to remain in business. The food is just that bad ! This was the most disgusting, oily Chinese restaurant I have eaten at, and for those people saying "get off your high horse" I would tell them to try some other Chinese restaurants which are frequented by mostly Asians and then make the comparison. This place, granted is North Amerian-Chinese food which is not really authentic food you would find in China, but this was not the issue at all because there are some very good North American style Chinese joints. The food was way too greasy and oily with sauces that had scary after-tastes!! Even the rice was overcooked and mushy! The taste of the vegetables inside the eggrolls reminded me of the smell of an industrial dishwasher in a restaurant!! Just horrifying! The fact that the portions were so huge actually disgusted me even more because the thought of overeating this stuff terrified me! It actually reminded me of the scene in the famous Hayaho Miyazaki Ghibli animation film "Spirited Away" where Chihiro's parents gorge themselves on this oily Chinese food they find at an outdoor eatery then turn into pigs!! I think this scene may have actually helped ruin my tolerance for the slightest "off" aspect of Chinese food that I may have not noticed or tolerated before.. One thing is certain: In my experience I can and will always be "safer" eating mediocre, but very decent Japanese food than I will ever be just eating mediocre or, in this case sub par Chinese food! We've tried 3 times now ordering delivery from this place and it has been terrible every time. (At least they're consistent!) For example, the sweet and sour pork doesn't even come prepared. What you get is a container of dried out, deep fried something, and a container of sauce. You actually have to prepare it yourself! Unheard of anywhere else. The Bayview is now closed and sold. We will miss the friendly owner and his family and wish them well. This was one of Sechelt's finest which says a lot about dinning in the Coast. Now where can you eat good Chinese food? We haven't found it. read more
