I came in here for lunch by myself and ordered boneless chicken, fries, and a soda. The portions were very big. I could have easily shared with someone else. The staff member that helped me at the register was nice and explained to me what some of the menu items are. She also helped me choose a flavor for my wings. There is plenty of seating and the interior is open and clean. Wanting to try something different than Domu, a fellow yelper and I decided to try this Korean BBQ chicken place right next door. I walked in and it was not what I was expecting. I didn't think it would be laid out like a fast food restaurant and then I looked on the menu and was even more disappointed. I mean really, all they have is chicken. And I was looking to incorporate some nice side dishes but really it's just chick and some cheapo sides. We did put in our order for soy garlic chicken wings and something called Rose Ddeok-Bokki which is a classic Korean street food made with rice and fish cakes. Honestly this was my favorite! It was very unique. Too hot for me but I ended up just wiping off the sauce. The wings were crispy but pretty greasy and the food took a while to come out so we had the atmosphere of fast food but without the food being very fast. I took them to the one in Dr. Phillips which was very close to their hotel. It is in the same plaza as Einstein Bros, Starbucks, Chamberlin's, and Publix. Typically I can find a spot to park without much issue if it's not a peak time, but you might need to search if you park between Publix and BB.Q Chicken. This location is a bit bigger than the one on Colonial and seems to have more indoor tables and booths. You order at the counter and can either get your food to go or you can sit and wait for your food to come out and pick it up at the counter. We shared a large boneless order of the secret sauce chicken for the three of us and and order of French fries. Food took a bit of time, which they warn you in advance as everything is cooked to order. Personally I think they overestimated the time it would take for our order, as they quoted us 20-30 minutes, but we really only waited 10-15 before our buzzer sounded. (Granted we went before the big dinner crush, so that probably helped.) Staff were polite but I think they were a bit worn after a long day. (Energy levels seemed a bit low from the staff but no one was rude - maybe lacking a little in enthusiasm, but that's it.) There are a few awesome parts of this restaurant. First, everything is made to order - but know it does take a while. Also, there is some awesome beer, be sure to check it out so you can try something new and different. But, I was pretty bummed with the food quality at bb.q chicken. The chicken was mostly bland and boring. The sauce seemed like something I could have found on the Publix shelf and made at home. For a place that specializes in fried chicken, I had higher hopes for the breading and sauce. Lastly, the staff wasn't really very helpful in knowing the differences in the sauces or which ones were brought to our table. Although I know what I ordered, I'm still not sure what exactly I ate - which makes me very skeptical of the overall operation. We also ordered pot stickers for an appetizer - they came out last. I ordered the golden original boneless and the cheesy boneless and fried dumplings they arrived still warm and smelled freshly made. The golden original boneless had a good light crunch with just a slight touch of heat that wasn't distracting. While it was good it didn't beat my go to in chicken Publix (yes Publix). The cheesy boneless on the other hand beat my Publix standard with a sweet cheese dusting with gave the overall taste of sweet funnel cakes. There's a good amount of seating inside and the walls have some cute art. We ordered takeout cause we had our dog and they don't have outdoor seating. From the time the food was ready and we brought it home and actually started eating, it was about 20mins. And oh my goodness the chicken was so satisfying! We got original with a side of gochijang, boneless soy garlic, and Gangnam style. The original chicken skin was still super crispy even though we waited a while to eat it. The other two sauced ones did get softer but that's expected. I enjoyed the slight chewiness from the softened texture. And for all of them, the meat was tender and flavorful. One of the best parts is they all stayed pretty hot for a while! Will definitely be back. The only downside was the pickled daikon had a very odd flavor like it was maybe old or something? Not sure. Food was great. Ordered the gangjeong wings with a side of fries. Great crunch and the flavor was different than I've had before. They were sweet and smokey with a hint of spicy. The service was good, you just go up to a counter and order. The inside of the restaurant looked pretty cool. My one and only gripe would be, there is no combo option that comes with fries and a drink but this is really minor. Overall I would come back and encourage others to eat here as well. read more

This is a somewhat new location for this brand, and I hope they will do well in the Dr. Phillips area, but I am definitely concerned about them in this very competitive food/beverage district. You can't survive on strictly tasty meals without something to support it. This is counter service ordering with (on this visit) very minimal assistance from team members regarding menu questions. I made my decision, placed my order, paid in advance, and received my beverage cup. No welcome or thanks throughout. When I arrived, there were a few diners at two separate tables. When I departed, there was only one single person in the dining room. Not busy at all. Team members were constantly on mobile devices. There was no cleaning of tables. When my food was ready, my name was called to pick it up at the counter. That is the design of service, but with only two people in the entire dining room, it could have made a nice impression on overall service ... especially since a service gratuity is prompted on the payment screen, and I did pay it. No "Thank you" whatsoever throughout. I do want to repeat that my meal was quite tasty and fresh. There is no issue there. It just can't be the main point of existence in the hospitality industry.
