Service is always good -- friendly, attentive, and efficient without feeling rushed. Went to Domu for lunch over the weekend, and it was SO good! We had the wings, which are always delicious, and I had the Tonkotsu Ramen with black garlic. After my shoulder was feeling a lot better, I decided to drive to Domu since it is not too far. I was very fortunate to find a seat in the bar immediately. My bartender recognized me quickly, and welcomed me. After telling him about my injury, I decided to enjoy the smoked old fashioned. It was the perfect drink for me as it gave the right amount of buzz while having the smokey flavor. Plus, my bartender was so nice to give me an extra shot of what looked like to be burboun. It was so strong that I went to happyland afterwards. For my entree, I decided to try something new and went with the lobster roll. I was so happy that I did. Even though it was a small roll, it had ample amount of sweet and succulent lobster in a warm buttery bun. I savored every bite as it was as good as a high quality seafood restaurant. I was very surprised and impressed. For dessert, they had my favorite flavor of ice cream (ube), so I couldn't skip it. It had the right flavor and just perfect sweetness for me. It was the best meal at a restaurant that I had for a while. The service was amazing and the vibe was perfect. I sat at the bar with other great people. I am so sorry that I forgot my bartender's name, but he is so awesome. It's the gentleman with the earrings. While there is usually always a wait, they have a nice bar area with friendly bartenders where you can order a yummy drink while you wait for your table. As I'm sure every other review here says, you must order the wings. They are so crispy, saucy, and flavorful. I've tried a few of the Ramen dishes, and they are always delicious. So comforting and warm, and such nice large portions - I can never finish mine! I've taken a few out-of-town friends here, and they always are satisfied with their experience. This is probably the hardest review I've ever written because I've been a fan of DOMU since their original Winter Park location. I've followed Chef Sean "Sonny" Nguyen from the beginning, and I honestly believe they serve some of the best ramen in Florida. I've recommended DOMU to countless friends over the years. Unfortunately, this isn't a review about the food. It's about how customers are treated. This past Friday, my wife, my two daughters, and I drove almost an hour to Dr. Phillips. We arrived at exactly 9:32 PM, almost 90 minutes before the posted 11:00 PM closing time, only to be greeted with a sign saying they were no longer accepting tables due to an extended waitlist. This wasn't the first time. It wasn't even the second or third. This is now the 4th or 5th time we've driven all the way there only to be turned away. What makes it even more frustrating is that the restaurant didn't appear to be overflowing with people. There were multiple empty tables visible inside, yet we were told they couldn't seat anyone else. At some point, this stops being bad luck and becomes a management problem. If demand is consistently exceeding capacity, then implement a reservation system or another predictable process. Customers shouldn't have to gamble on driving an hour with their family only to be told they can't eat. To be honest, it almost feels like maintaining an artificially long waitlist has become part of the restaurant's image. Whether that's true or not, that's certainly how it comes across after experiencing this repeatedly. Michelin recognition and great food can only take a restaurant so far. Hospitality is equally important, and repeatedly turning away loyal customers well before closing time is simply not acceptable. I sincerely hope Chef Sonny Nguyen sees this because I've supported DOMU for years and genuinely want them to succeed. But after being turned away for the fourth or fifth time, I can no longer recommend making a long drive unless you're willing to risk leaving hungry. Great food deserves great customer service. Right now, the customer experience isn't living up to the quality of the kitchen. read more

Started my birthday weekend out with dinner at Domu. Loved the seating & atmosphere - the lighting was perfect for a dinner date, although a bit loud. Having water on the tables is a nice touch and you never have a wait to refill. We got there at opening, so no wait. We were seated and brought glasses of water immediately. To view the menu we were asked to scan a QR code - I'm not a fan since I usually have issues connecting. I asked for and was brought a paper menu. This was my first time at the Dr. Phillips location. If you know DOMU, you know they don't take reservations. The other location is always swamped. I went on a Monday night, and got seated immediately, which was amazing. We started off with the original wings, which were just as good as the other location! If you've never had the wings here, you absolutely must get them. They are the best wings I have ever had. They are so crunchy and the sauce in the sweet, salty, umami sauce. These would be my last meal. For dinner, I got the dipping Ramen. This comes out with cold noodles that you dip into a warm thick broth. It was so flavorful and exactly what I needed for a chilly night. In terms of ambience, the decor is cute. It has a very different vibe from the other location, but I still love it. We used to really love this place, but our visit this weekend was just ok. First, they still do not take reservations so we got there about 10 mins before opening and were the first in the door (a good line formed after us). Although we were first in and first sat, we were probably 5th to have a server come to us, which really made no sense at all. In the past I'm pretty sure I was able to get the vegan broth in the Tokyo ramen (I don't eat pork and just wanted something different) but was told they do no substitutions. I came here for dinner a few weeks ago. It's the exact menu as the one in East End Market. The only difference is the atmosphere. This location is prettier! The wooden interior and seating gives a more upscale atmosphere, and it feels less cramped together. We came for appetizers. We got the shishito peppers, crabby patty and Cheezus. Ambiance was warm and welcoming as well, as they had a bar upon walk-in to order drinks while waiting. That said, the food completely delivered. This is easily one of the top three ramen bowls I have had in my life. Richie Rich Deep, layered miso shoyu pork bone broth with rich umami throughout. The chashu was tender, the ajitama brulee added a subtle sweetness, and the black garlic oil brought everything together. Domu Wings Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely worthy of the hype. The kimchi butter sauce had the perfect balance of spice and richness. Cheezus Savory, indulgent, and surprisingly addictive. I intentionally sought out the best ramen in Orlando, which led me to DOMU, the 2022-2025 recipient of the MICHELIN Guide Bib Gourmand Award, and a 2025 James Beard Award semifinalist. They were also showcased on Netflix's Somebody Feed Phil! DOMU makes their own noodles and uses the top 3% heritage breed Cheshire Pork for their chashu. They are also host to what some consider the best wings in Orlando. It's packed most of the time due to popularity, so be prepared to wait. We waited for 20 minutes midday on Sunday. The interior looks classy, and the vibe seems like gentrified American, but that doesn't stop the bowl of ramen from achieving greatness. You get dehydrated wet tissues at the beginning of your meal to clean your hands, which is pretty similar to an experience at very high end Japanese restaurants. We unfortunately did not have the stomach space to support trying two different ramens, so we just shared one. There are even options on the menu for people who don't want noodles, happy hour drink specials, seasonal cocktails, and a brunch menu. They just thought of everything, didn't they? - Domu Wings The kimchi butter sauce tastes very similar to something I'd consider to be a sweet sesame chicken sauce. However, you do taste some nutty burnt butter in the wings, which is the main intrigue. I thought the coating was a little too hard on the crunch, and I wish the wings were bigger and juicier. While the flavor was unique for Asian wings, I think I preferred Orlando's other well known Asian place's wings. - Cheezus Freshly roasted corn with a bunch of cheese and mayo. I love that you get a mini loaf of toasted baguette with this. It tastes more like Mexican street corn than the classic Korean rendition. - Richie Rich This is their standard and popular ramen flavor, which is an improved black garlic tonkotsu broth that uses a mixture of miso and shoyu, loaded with a bunch of cooked garlic. Every ingredient tasted well-handled - especially the jammy torched egg and tender chashu. The ramen noodles had a lovely firmness and chew. It was just a perfectly rich bowl of black garlic tonkotsu ramen, and I wanted another bowl when I finished. - Soft Serve Ice Cream You have a choice of their weekly rotating soft serve in a waffle cone or cup, which comes with its own associated toppings. We came by during horchata week, which tasted like a creamy bowl of cinnamon toast crunch cereal with the milk and cinnamon flavors all mixed together! I've only been to the Domu in Dr Phillips twice and both times I was seated at the "Chef's Table". Domu does not take reservations and both times we arrived, the inside seating was completely full but our group was small enough to be seated at the Chef's Table, which is 5 stools by the open kitchen. I actually liked sitting there as it was like dinner and a show and the chefs and expediter didn't mind answering questions (like, oooh, what is that?). It's actually a pretty large menu for a ramen place so after we washed our hands with the warm towels provided, I needed to ask the server for suggestions. She asked what I liked and didn't like and then suggested the Tokyo, which is a garlic based chicken ramen. My husband ordered the Domu Wings and the Baby Bok Choy. Our meals were delicious and our server mentioned that the ice cream flavor of the week was Cinnamon Toast Crunch - yum! I decided to save the rest of my ramen for later so I could get the ice cream. I really liked how the server packed up the noodles separately from the broth so it would be easier to heat up later. The ice cream was much larger than I expected and had a sweet cinnamony flavor. The second time we went, I ordered the Thai iced tea - large - that I hadn't seen the first time since it is listed with the Sweets and Desserts instead of with the drinks. It's served in acute Fox glass mug. This time I decided to try the Yuzu Shoyu Chicken ramen. It was a lot lighter in flavor than the Tokyo and had a lemony flavor versus the umami that the Tokyo had. I'd probably say I preferred the Tokyo. The ice cream flavor this time was matcha, which isn't a favorite of mine, so I didn't order dessert. I can't eat all of it, but they happily will pack it to take home! The ice cream is delicious and the flavors rotate. Right now it's Horchata! I had one and couldn't finish the rest but in the end I decided to combine the wing sauce with the CHEEZUS. That combination of the DOMU sauce and the CHEEZUS was chefs kiss. It balanced out perfectly because the CHEEZUS had no salt. Also, listen to the recommendation and get the extra bread. It's an up charge but you will need it. We've been coming to DOMU in Dr. Phillips for a while and have always had a good experience, which is why today was especially disappointing. The service and food quality were both far below what we've come to expect. We normally receive hot towels when we arrive, but today none were provided until we specifically asked. The wings, which are usually one of the best things here, were dry. My noodles were hard, and my ramen was extremely spicy even though I ordered it mild. My wife barely received enough broth with her meal, and what she did receive was bland and lacked flavor. We spoke with the manager, but instead of really acknowledging the issues, it felt like there was an explanation or excuse for everything. I later noticed him in the back coaching the staff, so I asked if everyone was new. He told me that one person was training from Tori Tori and another person involved with quality control was also training. I understand that restaurants have training days and occasional bad nights, but when nearly every part of the meal and service is off at the same time, that should be recognized and handled appropriately--especially for returning customers who know what the food is normally supposed to be like. The original wings are always tasty. We found the seasonal to be underwhelming. Not seasoned enough and not enough hot honey. We didn't think it was very spicy. My son and I usually always come in to try whatever wings they have that are seasonal. The original always seems to be better. The spicy pepperoni cheezus was not really spicy either. So, been in Orlando for business for few days and I finally got to try Domu and while I can see why it's popular, a few things missed the mark for me. The broth wasn't hot enough, and the noodles were softer than I prefer, i like em with a bit more bite, a little more al dente. The bamboo shoots were sliced too thin and didn't have much flavor, and the portion overall felt a bit smaller than I expected. The marinated egg leaned on the salty side too. That said, the soup base itself was flavorful and balanced, and the char siu was excellent, tender, well-seasoned, and easily the highlight of the bowl. I get this place got awards and recognition but maybe off day. But the wings were damn good. Juicy hot and crispy. The double fried crispy that has similar texture to Korean fried chicken. Sauce is buttery and slight spicy. I actually would come back for the wings. Service wise was good, sat at bar and was able to order drinks and food very conveniently. I did have to wait at the hostess stand for a little bit since they sort of disappeared for a while. Maybe we went on an off day, but the food wasn't very good. We had the Domu wings and they were served cold and so crunchy they cut into the roof of our mouths. The taste was okay., but nothing to write home about. We also each had a different ramen. The Yuzu Shoyu broth was lacking depth and was one note. The vegan shio, which was prepared gluten free without noodles and served with a side dish of rice as well as cold toppings. The broth was so salty it tasted like I swallowed seawater. It was unappetizing. It took us over an hour to be seated and then another hour to get our food. This is a one and done place for us. read more
