BBQ Chicken recently opened in the H-Mart in Arcadia. I loved fried chicken, especially Korean fried chicken, so I knew I had to give it a try. I've been to the bb.q Chicken in Alhambra, but this one is smaller and has less options. The bb.q Chicken in H-Mart does not have kimchi fried rice, but that's ok. I ended up ordering the 5 boneless wings and a side of fries. I got the soy garlic sauce for the boneless wings. The food took a while to arrive, as I think it's made to order. I waited about 20 minutes. The chicken was solid. The meat was juicy. The outside batter was a bit soggy, but that's ok. Maybe just a bit too crispy for me as well, a bit tough to chew. Food was served pipping hot, fresh, and crunchy! We got a small meal today, wings and Tteokbokki. Soy Garlic Wings came out super crunchy and very flavorful! 2 of 8 wings were flats so winning! Tteokbokki original was very spicy when it was hot but just perfect when it cooled down? Unless I just got used to the spice lol. However I think the sauce was heavy on the gochugaru because it was very grainy. There was only 1 guy working both the front and back (that I observed) on Sunday afternoon. The orders still came out timely but definitely on the longer side. Regardless of you ask for "here or to go" your food is served in Togo boxes and bag. He didn't auto include utensils or napkins so I had to wait for him to see me to ask for them. Slightly inconvenient but I can understand the not wanting to be wasteful. They used to leave the napkins and utensils out at the front but because it was so wait Easy access I'm guessing too many non customers took advantage. This location is inside an HMart food court. Tables are first come first serve. Can get very busy and from what I observed today, very dirty tables and floors. Stopped by this place since we were craving Korean fried chicken, and it hit the spot. The chicken is always fried to perfection. We usually order the Original and Honey Garlic, but decided to try the Secret Sauce today. It was tasty with just a bit of heat. Wow bb.q have location inside hmart foodcourt! Nice. They took over the corndog spot. For the uninitiated, korean fried chicken always takes 20-30 minutes. So best to put in your order and then walk around hmart to shop. Once you're done shopping, ready to eat. That was our strategy. We got whole chicken, original and hot spicy sauce, total $35. The hot spicy is sweet, sticky, and spicy with a kick. The original is crispy. This time is a little lacking flavor for me and a little dry (just a little!). Still manage to stay crispy on the 20 minute drive home inside a box! Pro tip: if you don't finish, airfry tomorrow and they get crispy again. read more

One box of the original and one box of the sweet and spicy came out to be a total of around $60-$68, which is very good deal for korean fried chicken! An extremely solid example of fried chicken done right! I have frequented this location several times and have yet to have a bad meal from this place! My go-to orders are the original and Secret Sauce chicken (with extra sauce on the side). They gave us a raw egg (crack it in the soup asap if you don't want it runny!) which I cracked into the hot stone soup, be careful because the bowl is super hot!! I think someone melted our tray with is be fair because the tray was morphed as well. Soup was delicious, love the tiny shrimps, clams, and oyster pieces inside with plenty of tofu which I mixed into bibimbap as well. Banchan was 5 dishes! Potato's salad is new to me as I'm used to their kimchi, seaweed, bean sprouts and fish tofu dishes. All great! Enough food so I didn't ask if they give extra banchan or a price or free. Once we were done we returned the tray and bowls to the restaurant. Glad I tried this is person! Still amazing and worth the wait.

It's been a few years since my last visit, and they did a complete remodel. The restaurant looks completely different now with a clean, modern look that feels much more updated than before. While the service could use some improvement, the food was definitely the highlight of the meal. We ordered the galbi and seafood tofu soup combo, the bulgogi and seafood tofu soup combo, and the new cold noodle. The galbi came with six pieces and was cooked perfectly. It was tender, flavorful, and paired well with the seafood tofu soup. The combo also came with four banchan: bean sprouts with sesame oil, kimchi cucumber, kimchi, and seaweed. Everything was fresh and complemented the meal nicely. The bulgogi and seafood tofu soup combo was just as satisfying. The bulgogi was well seasoned, and the tofu soup had plenty of seafood with a rich, comforting broth. We also tried the new cold noodle, which came in an icy chicken broth with shredded chicken and buckwheat noodles. The owner recommended adding a little vinegar, and it completely brought the dish together. It added just the right amount of brightness, and the broth became incredibly refreshing. It ended up being one of my favorite dishes of the meal. The food here is honestly the reason to visit. It's very close to the quality you would find in Koreatown, but without having to deal with the headache of Koreatown parking. That's a huge plus if you're in the SGV. The ambiance is modern, clean, and comfortable. Even during our visit, it wasn't overly loud, and we were able to have a normal conversation throughout the meal. Service was just okay. The staff seemed overworked, and it looked like they could have used more help. The one server who came around to refill our banchan was incredibly sweet and friendly, and we really appreciated her attentiveness. Unfortunately, everyone else, including the owners, came across as a bit short with customers and not particularly welcoming. It didn't ruin the meal, but it was noticeable. Parking was easy thanks to the large free parking lot shared with the other restaurants and 168 Market, making it much more convenient than trying to find parking in Koreatown. Overall, I'd come back for the food. If you're looking for solid Korean comfort food in the SGV without making the drive to K-town, Young Dong Tofu House is definitely worth checking out. The remodel gave the restaurant a fresh new look, and hopefully as they settle in and add more staff, the service experience will improve because the kitchen is already doing a great job.

I ordered the Pork Tonkatsu Omurice with curry sauce, which comes with chicken fried rice wrapped in that beautiful fluffy omelet, topped with pork tonkatsu and curry. When they bring it out, they actually ask if you'd like to record the presentation before they cut/open the egg--which, obviously, YES. It's one of those little touches that turns ordering food into an actual experience. And it was BOMB. Its hard to describe but the soup was tangy, refreshing, and had a spicy kick to it. It pairs perfect with a hot bowl of rice. The crispy pork was also very good, flavorful. I also really enjoyed the coconut lava balls - they were the perfect sweet treat after all the savory items. Portions are generous and the employee helped me pack up my leftovers. I would say that the price is pretty good for the amount of food you get! Will definitely be back to try more souppppp!

I recently visited this fried chicken place and had an overall disappointing experience. I ordered 16 pieces, wanting a mix of half cheesling and half soy garlic. However, when I asked for a half-and-half order, they told me they don't do that and suggested I order 8 pieces of each flavor separately. This didn't make much sense to me, especially considering the price for 8 pieces of each was higher than if I had just ordered 16 pieces of one flavor. The real kicker, though, was the cashier's attitude. He seemed uninterested and was doing other tasks while taking our order, making the whole experience feel impersonal and rushed. I didn't want to argue about the order, so I just went ahead with the separate orders, but it really wasn't the best way to start the meal. I've had better service and value at other places, so unfortunately, I can't give this location a great review. The chicken itself was fine, but the experience left a lot to be desired. read more

Noodles were decent, nothing too special, definitely a good filler. We also ordered the crab ragoons, ehhh I could've don't without them. My husband love their Mac salad so I made sure to order two large containers. That was also a hit. Definitely give this family restaurant a try. Service was friendly, easy to order, and the kiddos helped me bring my catering trays to my car.

The hospitality is genuinely warm and welcoming you're treated like a regular even on your first visit. This was actually my first time ever trying Chinese skewers, and wow what an introduction. The skewers are made to order, incredibly fresh, and perfectly seasoned. Every skewer comes out sizzling, packed with bold, smoky, savory flavors that are completely addictive. The food was so good that I almost forgot to take a picture, which says everything. It's the kind of place where passion for food and community truly shines through. You can tell they're trying to be thoughtful about the decoration and both the staff seemed very warm and welcoming but the meat tasted either overcooked or not the most fresh (which makes sense with how tricky running a good business could be today), the flavor was a bit too intense.. even with alcohol I don't think id enjoy the overly seasoned msg&salt mixture.. both mild and medium spiciness tasted the same, and as much as I adored the super fluffy and friendly cat, I dont think other guests would be cool with it jumping onto our tables or shedding so much of its super soft fur everywhere!
