Loveeee this spot! We tried a few dishes and everything was delicious. I especially loved the cold noodles and the kimbap. Staff was also nice and helpful. The chicken though was probably my least favorite but I'd try bone in next time instead of boneless. Flavor was good though! I liked sauce mixed more than honey butter.
Haven't been back to Soonheene & Twozone in a while--mainly because my friends don't share my love for that irresistible sweet-and-spicy kick in tteokbokki. They like their savory food strictly savory. But this time, I didn't compromise. I went all in on the sweet combo: tteokbokki with honey butter chicken. Truly a match made in heaven. The tteokbokki delivers that perfect balance of heat and sweetness, with the sauce clinging beautifully to each chewy rice cake. Every bite is bold, glossy, and deeply satisfying. The pickled radish on the side adds just the right touch of brightness, cutting through the richness and refreshing your palate between bites. And the honey butter chicken? It arrives hot and audibly crunchy, each piece generously coated in that addictive sweet-savory seasoning. Crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and dangerously easy to keep reaching for. This combo hits every note--spicy, sweet, crunchy, chewy, rich, and refreshing. Easily a five-star experience.
Promised myself the last time I was here to get the army stew when it gets cold. We got an army stew, boneless bulgogi fried chicken, boneless onion sauce fried chicken and a side of fries. The army stew really hit the spot. The spiciness really creeps up on you and warms you up. The radish side really complimented to level out the heat. The boneless fried chicken is very good, just like last time. I don't remember getting sides the last time I was here. The service is very good we finished 3 of 4 of the sides before our order came out and they refilled us with a little extra.
After last time we wanted to come back and try the army stew we saw one table had that time. Parking was decent, since it was a Wednesday night, it wasn't busy. We came around 6pm and it changed for dine in option, a server was available this time to give us menus, take our orders at the table and provided banchan (side dishes) for us as well as water. There was a few other tables with us and the place still looks the same. I also noticed a QR code on the table which we didn't use but may be to help streamline ordering in case a server was too busy. The banchan is refillable upon request which we did ask and it was received! I am super happy to see fishcake, picked radish cubes, kimchi, and stir fried julienne potato. Here is what we got: An order of two boneless fired chicken (bulgogi and onion sauce, $3.50 extra for onion and it was worth it in my opinion!). Onion sauce was a nice creamy mild sauce over the chicken and slightly cooling effect to counter the spicy army stew. The bulgogi sauce was slightly spicy and sweet, since it was slightly spicy to my son, and he didn't want to try the onion one, we asked the server to add in a side of fries my son might not eat the chicken. The army stew spicy level cannot be modified and yes it was a little too spicy for me but I ate it well with chicken and fries. It came with a bowl of rice and fried egg on top. We didn't ask for more rice as there was plenty of food. I did enjoy the cheese covered spam slices, mini sausages, and fish cake in the stew, I didn't eat much of the noodles given how spicy it was. Once we finished eating we asked for a check and a to go box, the server was handling the tables by herself and was very attentive to us so she did a wonderful job. Overall, super happy I came back. We plan to com back to try their pancakes and tofu soup!
This a little hole in the wall mom n pop run by original owners which is right in my wheelhouse as far as eating establishments go. You always get the best service and nearly home cooking with this kind of restaurant. We had the Donkatsu, soy garlic wings and ramen soup with udon noodles. All were so delicious! I suspect their whole menu is just as delicious! Yumi, the owner and server is the sweetest lady and takes a lot of pride in her business. Give this restaurant a try. You won't regret it!
A small but cozy place that serves delicious Korean comfort food! Perfect for a cold wintery night as it is now! I came here with a friend on a weekday night where there wasn't a lot of people, and my friend and I chose our own table. This is a self-serve style restaurant in which you get up and order at the counter, and you can grab complimentary drinks (tea and/or water). You then pick up your food once it is called. We ordered the rose tteokbokki + oden fishcake soup combo and kimchi pancakes. The rose tteokbokki was creamy and delicious, the pancake was amazingly crispy, and the oden fishcake was the perfect texture! I am definitely coming back to try this place again! I am looking forward to trying the mayak and donkatsu.
i cannot recommend this place enough. this is the best place to get comfort food and the food hits even more on a rainy day. I only get rose tteokbokki and the soy garlic fried chicken from this place and they never disappoint. i also recommend the kimbap to dip in the tteokbokki sauce. the interior is pretty small and cozy, making it a great place to chill with your friends.
Omg, the rose tteokdokki is SO yummy here that I had to write a review for just for it. This place takes the iconic sweet spicy sauce and f it into a velvety and spicy cream sauce combined with meaty flavoring of smoky bacon and Vienna sausages, it nearly Carbonara! While the rose tteokdokki is certainly a must, the other dishes are equally deserving of mention, particularly their fried chicken. We got the soy garlic which is a wet sauce but it still came out crispy. Service was good; there was a young guy running the front who was really nice and attentive. I def will come back
For authentic Korean street food, this is the place to go. Soonheene is a self-service restaurant, where you order at the counter and grab your own beverages (regular water, lemon water, or tea). My husband and I like to order the Tteokbokki + Mayak + Oden combo. These 3 dishes are all must-try Korean street-food classics. Tteokbokki: This was a bit spicier than my preference, but I still found it to be delicious. The employee did not ask what spice level I wanted, so I am uncertain whether I had the regular or spicy one. The portion was huge with lots of rice cakes and fish cakes. Mayak Gimbap: These are bite-sized seaweed rolls filled with rice, fish cake, pickled radish, and carrots. The dish is fairly simple, yet the gimbap is so addicting to eat. It comes with some sauce on the side. However, I think the gimbap is already super flavorful without any sauce. Oden: A bowl of very tasty fish cake soup. It comes with 3 big fish cake skewers. The fish cake is nice and chewy, while the broth is light and savory. This is great to eat alongside some spicy food like tteokbokki. There is a decent amount of tables and seating inside. The parking lot is shared with a few other businesses. Although it can get busy during peak hours, I have never had any difficulty finding a parking spot.

Soonheene actually started in Seoul's famous Gwangjang Market where they were known for their pancakes, so I was excited to check it out. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by Esther (the owner) and her daughter. They both went out of their way to explain the menu and answer all my questions with genuine smiles. That kind of hospitality really sets the tone for a meal. We ordered the Pork Mungbean Pancake, Rose Tteokbokki (creamy rice cakes with fish cake and sausage), Bibim-Naengmyeon (spicy cold buckwheat noodles), and a whole fried chicken split into two flavors. Everything we ordered was delicious and tasty. For half the chicken, I went with the original but added green onion and their special oriental sauce drizzle. The other half was spicy soy garlic. I'll admit, I liked the original better. I second-guessed myself when the owner's daughter mentioned soy garlic was their number one most popular flavor followed by honey butter, but I thought I would be different and try the spicy version. The spice kind of drowned out that garlicky soy flavor, so lesson learned. Next time I am going straight for the soy garlic and honey butter combo. For drinks, we tried the Korean coffee and cold yuzu drink, both refreshing and a nice complement to the food. By the end of the meal, everything was so good that I even found myself asking about catering their chicken for future events. The vibe inside is really comfortable with soft K-pop playing in the background. It is just enough for atmosphere but not too loud, so you can talk easily. The only tricky part is parking since it is in a busy plaza with a lot of other restaurants, but at least it is free. Overall, this was one of the most unique dining experiences we have had recently, made extra special by Esther and her daughter's hospitality. One of my go-to spots for Korean street food, Soonheenee is one of the most authentic restaurants there is. This specific restaurant can be pretty busy especially during evenings and weekends. Parking can be complicated as the plaza is shared with other popular spots, can park nearby on the street and walk over. Parking in the plaza is free. In comparison to the Soonheene in Chino Hills, this shop is a order then sit down restaurant. Most of the shop is self service based and has moderate amount of seating inside. It's also a great spot that ranges from solos, duos, to large groups. My wife and I ordered the Mayak + Oden (Fish Cake) + Tteokbokki Combo ($27.99) to dine in, waited around 10-15 minutes which is pretty fast for the amount of food. The Mayak (Kimbap) comes in 8PCs and is perfect to share, it's definitely the perfect dish as an appetizer, made different than the usual circle kimbaps, they're made long style instead, perfect for a bite size dish. Absolutely one of the most well made kimbaps around. The Oden (Fish Cake) comes in 3PCs, the soup that comes with the fish cake makes the oden seasoned well. The flavor seeps into the soup which keeps the oden chewy and savory. Although I wish the portions could be a bit more, the size of the Oden makes up for it. High recommend as this balances really well with the tteokbokki. The Tteokbokki is the main attraction for Korean Street food and Soonheene doesn't disappoint. The portions are massive, and very well sauced, and is filled with tteokbokki & fish cake. For people who like the tteokbokki a bit less spicy, you can dip it in the Oden soup to soften the spiciness, highly recommend as it's still very flavorful. There's also a rose option which I prefer a bit more than the regular tteokbokki. It's very creamy, savory, and chewy. Best tteokbokki I've ever had.
Came here with my brothers after we went to the mall. The restaurant wasn't crowded when we came on a Friday at around 5pm. We dined-in, and we ordered the mung bean pancake, boneless chicken with soy garlic, and half chicken with honey butter. Total was $45.27 (including tax, before tip). While waiting for our order, we were given pickled radishes and the sauce for our mung bean pancake. I really enjoyed the pickled radishes, they were nicely sweet and sour. It took around 10 mins for our order to come out. Mung bean pancake: I absolutely loved the mung bean pancake. It was my first time ever trying it, and it was so crispy and yummy. I love mung beans, so it was great. By itself, the pancake is great, but the sauce that came with it elevated it. It's also a huge portion too! Half chicken with honey butter: This was so crispy and juicy! The honey butter flavor is so unique! I do think it's a bit too sweet for me, but I enjoyed it still. Boneless with soy garlic: I enjoyed the soy garlic flavor more than the honey butter! This was very crispy and tasty too, but not as juicy as the half chicken. Overall, everything was so delicious. All of us enjoyed it! I do prefer bone-in chicken, so I'd probably just get that the next time I come here. I definitely would get the mung bean pancake again too. My sister recommended this place to me! Parking - there is parking in front but honestly this plaza seems to be busy most of the time. The person in front, Alan, took my order and was super kind. He offered me water was I waited for my order. I got a 10 piece soy garlic chicken and a rose tteokbokki and mayak gimbap to go. The food was really good and the packaging was also very nice. But definitely eat it at the restaurant. The rose tteokbokki with added ramen was my favorite! It's a little hole in the wall type restaurant and its super cozy. I will definitely be back! read more

Always enjoyed eating here and to go. The two flavor chicken whole is my family go to and it's the best in Arcadia for fresh, flavorful Korean fried chicken. Service is friendly but a little slow. It's still worth it. Highly recommend checking them out. read more

Everytime I watch K-drama and see people eating Korean food, it makes me immediately order from Soonheene. I've ordered takeout from here 3 times now and each time was consistently good. My go to is the Rose Tteoboki with ramen and Mayak gimbap combo. My god it just hits so good. The sauce is thick and creamy and the tteoboki is perfectly chewy. The Mayak gimbap is always on point, dipped in the sesame soy sauce - I prefer this over regular thick gimbap cuz it's perfect bite size, less messy and all the ingredients are well balanced out. The seaweed is soft and shiny, holds together with every bite. Sometimes I will splurge and get the pork belly with kim chee, they cook the pork belly so it's more on the well done side but I like it that way cuz it gives the illusion of being less fat /greasy I haven't dined in yet but when I come in for pickup, the place is clean and the staff has been friendly. Solid Korean place and reasonably priced. read more
Soonheenee has been one of my favorite Korean restaurants in the 626 area. They also have partnership with TwoZone for their fried chicken. It's located in a small plaza that has a lot of other businesses. I always struggle to find a spot to park. This was definitely the case in my recent visit at around 7 pm on a weekday. They have decent amount of seating inside. However, I order ahead of them and came to the store for pickup. It was ready on time. I got the soy garlic wings. It came in 10 pieces. This was the perfect amount since I was looking for a dish to pair well with other foods. The portion is good for sharing with others. Overall it was crispy and sweet. They also provided some radish on the side. This is a go-to order when I come here amongst other dishes! read more

I was so hesitant to try this place as there's so much good food in koreatown, but I'm so glad that I did. The service was very quick, we ordered at the front and snagged some seats. The odeng came out with the kimbap, and both were perfectly seasoned and the odeng soup was really light and flavorful. The fried chicken came out about 10 minutes after ordering, and it's my absolute favorite Korean fried chicken I've had. I normally don't like the flavored chicken as it's too sweet, but the hot and spicy had an addicting spiciness and just the right amount of sweetness for me, not too sweet. I will warn that it is very spicy, so do be careful! The location is cute and I'm surprised at how empty it is on a Friday night. Would highly recommend read more

Small restaurant located in a plaza with a parking lot. My friend and I went on a Sunday late afternoon and easily found parking. There were a few empty tables, so we could choose our table. There is Kpop playing in the background and has a casual dine in experience. We ordered the rose tteokbokki (added ramen) and mayak simba combo. The mayak came out quickly with a horseradish sauce. The sauce suited the mayak well. I was surprised how small they were but my friend said that's how they usually are, so that's just how it is The rose tteokbokki with ramen came a couple minutes after. The sauce is thick and comes with fishcake and sausages. The rice cake is cooked perfectly. Would definitely get the tteokbokki but original with cheese, egg and ramen next time! read more
I brought my friend here on a Monday afternoon and there was so much parking! The food is delicious as usual. This time I tried the rice drink and it was so refreshing. Service was great! Soonheene is known for its green bean pancake in a Korean market--Gordon Ramsay even visited. I'm not a fan of the pancakes, but their rose tteokbokki and kimbap are hands down the best I've had. The tteokbokki is creamy, flavorful, and the rice cakes are perfectly chewy. The fish cake soup is also a good side--light and balances the meal well. They partner with TwoZone Chicken, so you can order fried chicken too. It's crispy on the outside, tender inside. The soy garlic flavor is my go-to. Only downside is the small, tight parking lot. Soon tofu is so bland, and lack of flavor. And its very oily. Side dish is flavorless. I cant believe this place got so many good reviews. The guy is super busy. Little fast Korean street food spot for some ttheokbokki, kimbap, fried chicken, odeng, bindae dduk and lunch specials. Decent value if you order a set meal. Otherwise the cost can add up quickly. A decent spot to meet a few friends and share. We got the regular ttheokbokki, mayak kimbap and small garlic boneless fried chicken for three people and it was pretty good. Soonheene is a Korean quick service restaurant located off of Balwin and Duarte inside of a small plaza with ample parking. My family came to try it out this weekend after seeing their delicious looking tteokbokki on Yelp and we were not disappointed! We shared a Rose Tteokbokki (a creamier less spicy version of the original) and added ramen noodles and dumplings as well as a Beef Bulgogi plate. It was plenty of food for the three of us and we even had leftovers to take home! The tteokbokki was so creamy and flavorful, but the added ramen took away quite a bit of the liquid but it was still very tasty. It comes with little sausages inside as well. The dumplings were good and we also ordered a combo that came with Mayak Gimbap with veggies and fish cakes inside, also very good! The Bulgogi plate was also delicious, but the white rice it came with was slightly hard in some bites. The service was very friendly and the cashier offered helpful suggestions and descriptions for the items we wanted to know more about. She was very busy as the only working server and we saw a lot of online orders coming in at the same time so this place seems to be a neighborhood favorite. We will definitely love to come back and try out some of their other items, they also seem to sell a lot of chicken wings so it will be our next order! read more

I thought food was so so, but my mom makes a pretty mean kimchi bindaettuk, and it's fresh and crispy, so I think while it was good, I wouldn't come back for this. It was a bit thick and the taste of the oil sitting out made it hard to enjoy it fully. The soondae was a must with the rose 떡볶이. It was my first time trying the rose, so I was shocked at how good it was. If spice is hard for you, the rose gives a milder spice, but still giving you the punch of rice cakes. read more
This is my favorite place to eat when I am craving Korean street food. My favorite food to order is the rose tteokbokki, gimbap and the wings with onion sauce. The rose tteokbokki is so soft and creamy and also to perfect to dip with the gimbap. I never had korean friend chicken with onion sauce that is covered with onions but my bf wanted it. It was pretty good and I would def order it again. Parking can be a little limited depending on the times but there is also street parking. The restaurant is a bit small but I usually order to go. I would def recommend this place if you want to grab a quick bite or order to go and go home to watch korean drama. read more
Came in for lunch and appreciate the casual atmosphere with a lot of self service hydration and place setting stations. Ordered the rose tteokbokki and enjoyed the flavors and portions. I wish there was a small amount of vegetables inside like some cabbage or onion to help balance the heaviness. I also enjoyed the complimentary barley tea. This is probably my favorite spot for Korean food near home, it never disappoints! I usually order takeout and enjoy it from the comfort of my couch, and it always hits the spot. This time, I went for the rose tteokbokki, which had that creamy, spicy kick I love. The rice cakes were perfectly chewy, and the sauce was rich without being too heavy. I also got a classic gimbap, fresh and flavorful, with just the right balance of ingredients The fried chicken wings came in a few different flavors, crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and packed with bold Korean-style seasoning. I especially loved the contrast between the sweet and spicy versions. As sides, I couldn't resist their fried sweet potatoes and onion rings both golden, crunchy, and totally addictive. Honestly, everything tasted just as good as what I've had in Korea. If you're craving quality Korean comfort food that travels well, this place is a must-try. Highly recommend. read more
I love coming to Soonheene for their kimbap. This place reminds me of Korea and their street foods. The last time I came, I ordered the kimbap and rose tteokbokki combo, fish cake, and 5 piece fried chicken wings. The rose tteokbokki was very creamy and not too spicy. I liked how they added some mini sausage. The kimbap is definitely my favorite and I love the sauce they give on the side that has hints of wasabi. The chicken wings we got were huge! Good thing I didn't order the 10 piece because I was so full. We got the honey butter flavor and they definitely do not skimp on the powder. We made a mess eating because the powder got everywhere. I would've preferred less powder but my bf liked it. I will definitely come back again in the future when I'm craving for some Korean street food. read more
