This place said they open at 11am. We Got here on a Saturday after 11:30am and it was closed. I then called and a man picked up and said they're open. I said but your door is closed. He said he just got here and he opened. We walked in and he saw us, didn't greet but said "you just called me huh?" with his back turned to us. Come here several times and always been pleased, a solid four. Today was another story, and we won't be coming back. I ordered pickup from the first thing that popped up when I put in the restaurant.It looked like a website. I went to pick up my food and they didn't have my order.Then, the guy went to the fax machine and found it and said that I ordered the wrong way that I should always do through doordash or uber because it's faster and this way is slow. He said there are companies that create order sites and had some convoluted story that I couldn't follow. Told me to go shopping at grocery outlet next door and come back in thirty minutes. I reiterated when I came back.How unhappy I was. He didn't offer to give me a discount, an appetizer, nothing to make me a happy customer. And to top it off, I got a hundred and twenty dollars worth of food in one bag, stuffed to the brim.They couldn't spring for two bags,and it was so hot I asked for a box and he gave me a piece of cardboard to hold under the bag of food. This place is our very favorite Thai restaurant. We have been dining here 15 years. The same sweet elderly owners have cooked and served our family throughout the years. Our go to meal is Yellow Curry Chicken and it comes with tofu soup or salad. We love the soup! It either comes with white rice or fried rice w/ a shrimp and a veggie egg roll or wonton. This is the best comfort dish. We also love the drunken noodles, coconut soup, and pad Thai. I love the Thai ice tea - it is sweet, rich and creamy. Some people seem to not be nice in their reviews but what I can say is every dish is made to order, consistent meals and quality ingredients every time and if you want home cooked healthy meals, you will be delighted. read more

Came here to try a new Thai spot after going to President Thai down the street for years and wanting something different. We ordered from the dinner menu, which comes with soup or salad, egg rolls or wontons, and white rice or shrimp fried rice, and an entree... great value. I got the chicken pad Thai and everything was so flavorful and delicious. My boyfriend ordered the yellow curry and it was absolutely amazing, rich and creamy with a coconut base that honestly reminded me of my mom's Vietnamese curry. I got this through DoorDash, we spent $94. The spicy crispy chicken kicks you in the nose with lemongrass. It's a totally unexpected marinade. I mean boot meets sinus kind of roundhouse kick. Couldn't eat it. Ribs were so dry my teeth couldn't rip through. It was hard on the outside like it's been days old. The rice was made with some kind of bullion or something that made it so salty again masking lack of freshness. Crab wontons were super bad, possibly old cream cheese based on the smell, and made my stomach hurt for a couple hours. I am not a food critic by any stretch, but it needs to be said that this was really bad food that gave us indigestion so there's something to be said about the food quality. read more

No point in even talking about the food because of how incompetent and rude the staff are. It started with trying to place a takeout order. Called and no answer. Tried their web site and placed the order and paid, but no email confirmation. Called again to confirm and again no answer. It's not far away, so we decide to just drive there and see if the order is ready. Nope. They gave us attitude for ordering through the web site. Like it should have been shut down (but it wasn't), why would we do that blah blah. Then the excuse was the restaurant had barely opened. I don't know, but common sense tells me any order placed after you're officially open is fair game (and it was at least 15 minutes after opening). Basically everything was our fault. But it gets better. So apparently they use a third party for web site orders, and it turns out our order was sent to the restaurant but they didn't see it. Ok so... still don't see how this is the customer's fault but that was their attitude. We're told to come back after 45 minutes. Not ideal but we have other errands to run so whatever. We come back and the order is not even close to being done. They don't even operate by first in first out, as people entering and ordering after us still received orders before us (and mind you this is after already waiting the 45 minutes before returning to the restaurant). In all it took nearly 1.5 hours, HOURS, for the order to be ready. Even if we ordered for 10 people -- which we didn't -- it should not have taken this long. I get that stuff happens, but if they had made any sort of effort, I wouldn't be writing this review. Each day while on vacation, we try new restaurants. And today, we chose Salathai Thai, ordered to go. We ordered beef pad-see-ew, pad-Thai chicken, and chicken rad-na. All three dishes were very good. The rad-na was a little bland, with little vinegar that comes with it, made it taste better. All in all, it's good. It's own website says it closes at nine thirty... Regardless got here at 8:53, was ready to order take out if 8:53 was too close to closing time, that would be fine. The old guy said "picking up?" I said with a smile ready to place an order for take out. He said "we close at nine". It was literally 8:53 and their own website said they close at 9:30. It was a shame since I relied on the closing time that this restaurant lied about on their website, and he lied about being at nine. whether it was the 9:30 that's currently on his own website and I believed and relied on before driving here, or even his 9:00 p.m. statement, either way he could have let me order takeout. Of course restaurants can close when they want but they shouldn't lie about it and have people believe their lies and waste time driving to find the place is closed. Or worse that it's closing soon and won't let them order takeout... (There was 37 minutes until their advertised close, they really could have let me order take out. This is the type of Thai food you'd expect in a small, sad American town, not an Asian neighborhood of LA. I ordered a papaya salad and duck noodle soup, which came out to a steep $35. The papaya salad was very sweet and not spicy enough. It lacked flavor. Sven the dried shrimp seemed low-quality and imparted little to abate the cloyingly and overpoweringly saccharine taste of 'way too much palm sugar' Meanwhile this was the worst duck noodle soup I've ever had. No real vegetables, just a bowl of broth with cilantro, sprouts and a few scraps of duck. Mostly skin and fat, and the few bits of meat were overcooked to being inedible. No leg to be found. I ordered the pad Thai with tofu ($11.95), yellow chicken curry ($11.50) and a large Tom Yum Shrimp Soup ($14.95) via phone for pick up. They stated it would take about 30 minutes. I got there in 30 minutes and it was ready as stated. There were 2 other parties dining in when I arrived and only one guy working in the front, probably the owner? He was also the same guy that took my order. So it's probably one of those mom and pop type of shops. The pad thai with tofu was good. It definitely had a lot of tofu in it and plenty of flavor. The noodles did not stick together so that was a plus, but it was also more saucy and sweeter then other pad thai's I've had before. The peanut on top was a bit of a let down because it was soggy. The bean sprouts were on the side of the box and not mixed it which was different. Plus they were also raw. If it was mixed in it, it might have tasted better. The yellow curry had plenty of chicken and packed with flavor. For mild spice, you can still taste it. It also had some carrots and potatoes in it as well. We opted to order it solo instead of the dinner special because we were sure how big of a portion the dinner special was actually going to be. I'm glad we ordered the regular because there was definitely plenty for the two of us. The large tom yum soup with shrimp was a bit of a letdown. There were a total of 8 shrimps in the container and a few bits of the lemongrass that make up the soup. It was very plain in terms of content. I'm used to have more veggies or something in the soup. It was just a plain broth with those few pieces of shrimp and mushroom. For $14.95 I expected there to be more things inside. In terms of flavor, it was way too strong for my preference. I've had this soup at other establishments and have never had it this sour before. I had to drink a lot of water afterwards. Overall I'd probably come back for the curry but skip the soup and pad thai. read more

Came here because of the temptations of cheap prices, good portions, and the mom and pop appearance. I've gone past this place countless times growing up, and I think I've even tried it once or twice over the years, but I don't remember how the food was. Anyways, I came here with some friends on a Saturday night, and it was very strange how few people were dining in here on a weekend night, it felt very lonely and isolated. The food took some time to come out since it was just the owner who was taking orders and serving, and I noticed some dirty plates still on some of the other tables during the whole meal. I had the pad Thai with chicken, and while I did like the quantity which was on the larger side, the noodles were a bit too wet and bland and lacking in turmeric for my taste. There were bean sprouts and carrots that were uncooked on the side, and the green onion/scallions were a bit undercooked. Chicken was dry and bland as well. I'm trying to remember something good in terms of quality that stood out about it but I can't really think of any. Ended up eating about a fifth of it and just taking the rest to go so my family can try and maybe recook or throw away. There are plenty other Thai places that I think are better, don't think I'll willingly be back anytime soon even despite the cheaper prices. COVID-19: Social distancing is enforced at this establishment. All of the staff wears a mask. All customers are expected to wear a mask too. The staff also wear gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has no outdoor seating available with limited capacity at the moment. They are also sanitizing in between customers. While I was grabbing my food from this establishment last month, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment. Parking: This establishment shares a parking lot with several other establishments like Grocery Outlet. During the pandemic, there are plenty of parking spots. Prepandemic, parking spots were hard to come by, so I had to circle the lot a bit. Food: I got their red chicken curry last month. A bit disappointed with the curry, so I took a star away. I was disappointed because for the veggies, all they did was put in a handful of mixed frozen veggies into the curry. I am Thai. I have had legit Thai curries before in Thailand, and this was truly a disappointment. This meal was nothing like the curry I had in Thailand. Very Americanized curry. Not authentic at all, unfortunately. Portion size was decent. Now, if we weren't in a pandemic, I would give this place a two or three star. Pork wontons the best thing about the meal. Pad See Ew didn't have the broccoli in it, was spicy even though requested no spice and just not great. This was my first time dining in at Salathai Thai Cuisine. It was a somewhat pleasant experience. I ordered their duck curry and yellow curry. Both the duck curry and the yellow curry comes with a side of white rice or brown rice. I chose my side as brown rice. The duck curry was alright, but the duck skin should not be included in the curry. The duck skin has a strong aroma that does not really appeal to me. However, the duck meat was pretty good. The duck curry consists of duck, pineapple, sweet peppers, and Thai basil inside a spicy curry sauce. The yellow curry was more delicious than the duck curry, since it isn't too spicy and has potatoes in it. The curry sauce has a coconut flavor in it too. Ordered takeaway and very impressed with their thoughts to keep their staff safe. I called and ordered ahead and they picked up the phone immediately--the food always takes a while to prepare so call slightly earlier and expect at least a 30 min wait (the perfect amount of time to watch a sitcom before heading out to pick up a delicious meal!). The food was ready when we arrived and they have their tables lined up so you aren't even able to get within 10 feet of the kitchen. The takeaway containers wrapped in plastic bags are left on the table so there is limited human interaction, but you do have to sign for the credit card. They do, however, have multiple pens and those small "check" plates (not sure what they are called!) so people aren't touching them one after another. The owner wears a mask when he hands things over as well. We ordered their tofu larb, glass noodle salad, mint leaves tofu and crispy pork over broccoli. Everything is fairly priced and, of course, delicious--it is so hard to pick a favorite! Since it is the summer, I would definitely recommend tofu larb and the glass noodle salad for a nice refreshing meal! Small note: I would definitely say if you love spicy food and want extra heat, I would, in terms of the spice level of mild, medium, and spicy, ask for spicy. I love spicy food and we went with medium for all of the dishes, but it felt more like mild spice to me.
