Picked up an order from bb.q Chicken in Temple City and really enjoyed it! I went with the Feel Crunch Wings and Soy Garlic Wings, and honestly, I liked both for different reasons. The Feel Crunch Wings were probably the biggest surprise for me. The outside had a really nice, light crunch -- crispy without feeling overly heavy or greasy. That first bite had that satisfying crunch I want from Korean fried chicken, while the chicken inside was still juicy and tender. I kept telling myself I was done, then ended up grabbing another one. The Soy Garlic Wings were just as good. The sauce had a nice balance of savory, slightly sweet, and garlicky flavors without being overwhelming. I especially liked that they didn't drown the wings in sauce, so I could still taste the chicken and enjoy the crispy coating underneath. Between the two, it was actually hard for me to decide which one I liked more. The Feel Crunch is great when I want something crispy and simple, while the Soy Garlic hits the spot when I want more flavor. I also have to give a special shout-out to the lady working at the counter. She was genuinely friendly, polite, and welcoming. One of my favorite lunch specials! I really enjoy the boneless wing lunch combo specifically for dine in. The portions are better and the food is more fresh when you can eat it right out of the fryer. It took us almost 30 minutes to get our food, even though we are the only table. I can see why others just order to go. The food was amazing. We had the half and half / original and secret sauce. Portion was good. We also tried the rice cake and poutine and both were flavorful. It's a bit pricy with 3 items for about $70 before tips. They did offer lunch combo which is a bit cheaper, although it's not what we wanted. We did leave with a good amount of leftover though, probably enough for 2 or 3 people. So overall it was good. A great chain in Korea that just does not deliver in the states. I first had bb.q chicken years ago when it opened in Alhambra. It was very underwhelming so I did not try again. Fast forward and I went to Korea where bb.q chicken was literally one of the most crispy and tasty fried chickens I have ever had. That is when I decided to give the Temple City location a try and unfortunately, it was not a good experience. The service to get the chicken is very long. If you order in person, they will have a sign that will let you know 15-30 min wait so I would suggest calling in for to-gos. The wait would be okay if the chicken was crispy and tasted fresh. However, you'll be hit with a very soft crisp that makes you crave something more. Unfortunately, the long wait, mediocre taste, as well as a pretty high price has turned me off to bb.q chicken in the states which is a same because it was so good in Korea. They continued packing takeout orders behind the counter and did not want to help me at all. I waited there till he's done. the staff member was rude and spoke in a very unfriendly tone, as if I owed them millions. This has happened twice recently -- once with a female staff member and once with a male staff member -- and both times the attitude was absolutely terrible. If you are the owner, or if the owner is reading this, please pay attention to how your staff treat customers.
