I enjoyed my visit to bb.q. Though it's probably 80% takeout, they actually have an amply sized and very clean dining area. My boneless wings in Gangman sauce were ripping hot and very flavorful. During lunch hours (ending at 3) there is a wing combo which includes 5 wings (or boneless?) and a small side plus a soft drink. I wish this was available later in the day. Since it was after 3 pm when I went I had no choice but to order 8 pieces of chicken and the sides were all almost 8 dollars and presumably very large. So i just had my boneless pieces and a soft drink. 5 pieces and an individual side would have been a better fit. Overall I think this business aims higher than the average take-out focused inner city place so for that I give it 4 stars. read more

Wow! We tried two different flavors of the boneless wings. I asked for their recommendation and they suggested secret sauce and honey garlic - we couldn't decide which we liked better. Even though the sauce had one flame for spicy, they really aren't too bad. I mentioned it was our first time there and they gave us a free side of pickled radish which we will definitely order the next time we go. I was worried about ordering takeout as I had a half an hour drive home, but they were still crispy and delicious by the time we ate them They seem to quite a takeout business. Stopped here for lunch with friends. I had never had Korean fried chicken so I was excited to try it! The restaurant is on the corner of Monroe & Rowley. Street parking only - don't park behind the building. No steps to get in but there are double doors that might be challenging for someone with mobility challenges. Signs on the door said no public restroom, so take care of business before you come here lol. Lots of K-pop to watch on the TVs. Check the website if this is your first time here. The website describes all of the sauces for the chicken and how spicy they are. I ordered the boneless Gangnam lunch special. It came with 5 pieces of boneless chicken breast, white rice and a beverage (I had a water). I also ordered a side of the pickled radish to try. It was 15 min for the food to come out, but it was hot and fresh! I had to let it cool down before I could take a real bite. It was excellent! And I loved the pickled radish too! Sadly no one else came in to eat while we were there. There were a couple people that came in for pick up orders. I hope people will support this business so it stays open. Amazing spot for Korean fried chicken! We got the traditional wings in a hot spicy and gangnam style. The hot spicy definitely lives up to its name and the gangnam style was super savory and had a nice kick. The fried chicken was super crispy despite being covered in a layer of thick sauce. Stayed away for a long time after the first visit (see original review) but decided to try again. Their service has drastically improved. Super prompt and friendly now. The chicken is good, maybe great. It's nice and crispy even with those sticky sauces all over it, which is an achievement. My kid loved it immediately, but it took me a while to find a sauce that wasn't too sweet for me, and now I love it too. The kimchi fried rice is awesome. I ordered delivery tonight (around 7 PM on a Saturday) through Door Dash and got the Golden Original Chicken with Secret Spicy sauce on the side. The order took over an hour, Door Dash had it quoted at 50 minutes though, so it wasn't that much off. The driver called me to update me that he was still waiting. Knowing that they were on the slower side for service, I expected this and told him not to worry. But yes, they're still working out the kinks and timing so expect a bit longer of a wait time when you order either in person or online for now. The chicken is amazing! So juicy. If you like Popeyes, you'll love bbq Chicken's original chicken. To me it was even juicier with more meat on the bone. The breading is so flaky and crispy. I didn't even need the dipping sauce because there was so much flavor in the chicken itself! I still highly recommend this place and I hope that they can work out their wait time issues so that people continue to support them. So it was super quiet. My hubby and I came on Juneteenth our day off during a Wednesday! I wanted to get the super spicy wings but was discouraged from getting them because they probably would not be crispy enough for me? Regardless I ordered both the honey garlic recommended they were delish and also the Spicy wings to go! More than likely will never return but I wanted to try Korean Fried chicken and I Did finally ;)! Decor like a traditional Chinese to go restaurant nothing special at all and the service so so basically. I paid $3 for a can soda. Also no blue cheese or ranch available. This is a chain that I haven't heard of but I'm glad they are here! They have various flavors of wings as well as other Korean dishes like kimchi fried rice. BBQ chicken is a korean fried chicken chain. This place is run by a very hardworking gentleman and our service was top notch. We ordered ahead by phone to dine in because we do know it takes awhile to fry these wings fresh. I usually always get the gangnam style wings when I have been to other franchises, but decided to try something different this time. I believe we tried the gang jeong wings. While made very well (chicken was hot and crispy), I still like the gangnam better (this was a bit too sweet for me). We also tried the kimchi fried rice and added cheese. Holy cheese! Their chicken is great. I crave it all the time and it's a nice treat when I have it for lunch or dinner. Recently there have been some inconsistencies with their chicken and sauces, but it seems like they fixed what was going on. The past couple months their sauces have had way too much garlic, making it sting your mouth to the point I couldn't finish the chicken. But I just got some more today and it was perfect! I also like how quickly they have been able to get food out recently. It used to take about 25-30 minutes but today I got my lunch combo under 20 minutes. Seems like this place is on the up and up! If you dine inside, the tables are nicely spaced apart so you don't feel smushed next to other people which I appreciate. Highly recommend. Chicken is juicy and fresh, nicely brined. Sauces have good variety (I love the honey garlic sauce and secret sauce) for different spice levels. I had to take their kimchi rice and add normal rice the next day to get it to be acceptable salt level. I usually don't give 5 stars to chain restaurants, because they are usually disappointing, and more of a quick fix than a great meal. But bb.q Chicken almost gets all the stars. They make fried chicken and wings, Korean style. Let me start by stating that this KFC (Korean Fried Chicken), is far superior to the other KFC. Bbq Chicken is the largest chain for this style of fried chicken and they take their reputation seriously. The chicken is fried in olive oil and it's super crispy and crunchy. The plain chicken is delicious and crispy just by itself. But then they also have sauces, all kinds for all tastes. I cannot say which one is my favorite because I can't decide. I like too many of them. One word of warning, their spicy is spicy, none of that wimpy spiciness you get in the usual places around here. I also tasted their kimchi fried rice and it was also delicious, and spicy! I haven't tasted their other sides yet, but frankly I am addicted to the chicken. While there are places that have Korean Fried Chicken on the menu (Sodam, Old Stone Tavern and even Cheesecake Factory), bb.q Chicken is the only place that specializes in it. I've found their chicken to be extremely crispy without being oily. The crispiness actually reminds me of the fried chicken at BC's Chicken Coop in Webster. My favorite flavor so far is just their Golden Original, without the sauces. The crispiness and saltiness of the breading really come through. We've also tried their Galbi and Soy Garlic flavors. I must say their sauces are a bit on the sweeter side and it would be better to tone down the sugar level a bit. But don't get me wrong, the sauced wings are still delicious. Finally, a Korean fried chicken restaurant to get excited about! I believe BBQ chicken is a chain with some locations in larger cities as well, but boy am I glad they decided to invest a location in Rochester. I've only yet orders and tried their food via DoorDash because of the pandemic, but so far the food, packaging and ease of access has been spot on. The menu itself is a little overwhelming with the number of flavor options, but they have many of the classic Flavors that I am used to. For people who don't know/haven't tried KFC, I would say the main difference is the texture of the wings themselves in the flavor profile. The wings are usually double fried and cut it in a better that is different ingredient than traditional American wings. Korean people also love their sweet and salty/spicy flavor profile, which is why a lot of the wings Offer various kinds of marinades/wet dressings. If first time trying, I would try the traditional soy garlic flavor and honey garlic! If you would like to kick it up a notch, try the secret spicy flavor. I also really enjoy that the restaurant gives you the sides of pickled daikon. This is pretty much an equivalent to the celery side dish and can be a nice palette cleanser between each wing! I did also try the tteokbokki as a side dish, which itself is a meal and was delicious! For those that don't known, it's a traditional Korean street/snack food made of rice and fish cakes in a sweet and spicy red pepper paste thats semi stir fried. To top it off, they add a nice little layer of what I presume is American cheese to give it another layer of flavor. I actually went up and asked them if I could get a side of their spiciest sauce. They were really generous and didn't charge me, despite me offering money for portion they gave me. The tables inside the restaurant are really spaced out so you feel like you have privacy with your party. Also the service was fantastic.
