Service takes the concept of "self-serve" to an artistic level. The bartender acknowledged us briefly--just long enough to confirm we existed--before immediately resuming whatever bar-related priorities were clearly more important than customers. Meanwhile, several people ahead of us were openly discussing their 10+ minute wait with no movement toward actually being served. After a while, it became clear we were not waiting for service so much as participating in a passive endurance experiment. Eventually, we chose the only winning move: leaving. Honestly, the most efficient part of the entire visit was the exit. We got to go a pound for brisket and a full rack of ribs, baked beans, Mac and cheese, and one square of cornbread (which I thought an order was two, but I was wrong). We were able to get a couple small to-go cups of bbq sauce. The brisket was hit and miss. Some pieces were moist, and other pieces were on the almost-dry side. The sauce helped there. The ribs fell off the bone and were delicious. The beans and creamy Mac and cheese were wonderful, and the cornbread was moist and great! We also had the crispy ribs- we're ok but think I like regular ribs better. Sides were coleslaw and cheesy tots- both were pretty tasty. Several beers on tap and long list of cans. Cocktails and wine also available. Weekly specials and a cute outdoor patio( raining too hard for pic). Service was very good and friendly. We shared the 3 meat platter to share. We picked the pulled pork, brisket ( $ 3 up charge) ?? And the crispy ribs- 3 battered then deep fried ribs . Something different and It was all very good, great flavor. The brisket was my favorite meat . They have several sauces to add as needed , yummy!. For the side we got the Cole slaw which was the dry type not my favorite. The cheese covered tater tots were the best thing on the plate,. This was my first time here. I believe this building used to be an arcade many moons ago. We were seated upstairs (there are three levels) and service was outstanding! I had the brisket sandwich with Mac and Cheese and my friend had the meat combo. She ordered wings and they were buy 6, get 6 free. I ordered the Pickle Chips and a Half Rack of ribs to go for my daughter. The selections made it so hard to decide between; they all sounded delicious. Meh. Likely won't go back. Husband ordered one meat and two sides: brisket, Mac and cheese and coleslaw. He really enjoyed the sides but the brisket was awful. I tried it too, and it was cold and oh-so dry. It took a while for the waitress to come around and ask how everything was (he had already finished the sides and I was halfway through my dish). The waitress helped us swap out the brisket for a different one (pulled chicken, which he enjoyed a lot better) and she was very nice about it. She also refunded the brisket. It seems like a fun place to watch a game on TV with friends. A duo band was playing on a Saturday night and had good music. A bit loud but the space is small. The wedge salad that I ordered with grilled chicken was tasty. Overall though, can't justify the price for what was ordered, especially expecting good beef BBQ. read more

I typically order good smoke through a delivery app and wanted to get the dine in experience. We arrived on a very quiet Saturday afternoon and were seated immediately. The dining area was decorated with fun posters for bbq events. There was also a tv playing sports which gave it a relaxed vibe. I was surprised by the price difference compared to costs on Grubhub. You get a better value and quality overall dining in person. We ordered 3 kids meals, which the kids loved. They could not finish their portions, so we took the left overs home and got an additional meal out of it. Our two meat combos were phenomenal. The portion sizes are generous and filling. Anything we couldn't finish, we took home. I love that we were each given a wet nap wipe on our trays. Overall a satisfying experience. We will be back! read more

Stopped in for dinner with a hankering for barbecue and this place did not disappoint. The Space: Upon entering, you are greeted with a full bar with stairs leading up to a seating area where a live band was playing. There is additional seating off to the right before the stairs, with an outdoor patio area past this. We briefly sat in the patio area (before it started raining) and I was pleasantly surprised with the quaintness of this area. It included metal tables and chairs with umbrellas over some of the areas. Restrooms are clearly labeled below the upper seating area. Overall, the patio area was the biggest draw for me, the bar seemed average and I did not love the upper seating area as there were many nats and flys (which are to be somewhat expected at a BBQ joint), and the music was loud for anyone seated up there. I'd recommend sitting in the patio area if you can, if not there then off the right when entering. You are going to want some space if you are eating, so I wouldn't recommend sitting at the bar if you are ordering food. The Food: This is very clearly why people come to this restaurant. I've visited many of the BBQ places around Rochester and the surrounding areas, Good Smoke contends with any and all. Starting with price to portion- I was very satisfied with this ratio. You will definitely walk out stuffed even if you split an entree with someone (that is what I did), and I spent under what I typically would for dinner ($25). We ordered a 3 meat platter with the turkey, brisket (extra $3) and crispy ribs. I'd recommend the first 2 but didn't love the crispy ribs as they were a bit too sweet for my liking- with that said, many people do recommend these. To go with the meal we had 2 sides- we chose Mac salad & mashed potatoes, both delicious. The platter also came with 2 small cornbread muffins that were tasty. The Drinks: I ordered a fruited sour I had never had and it was very good, they gave a good beer selection and average pricing. They have signature cocktails as well- one in our party enjoyed some of these. In Summary: Go for the food- they have delicious barbecue and sides. If it's a nice day, take advantage of the patio area. Avoid eating inside if you can. Takeout may be a better option. read more

My husband wanted to come here for his birthday. I wasn't sure how much I could eat being vegetarian, but I looked online, and they had several options! After a long break in our visits, we went in for dinner. Thought we'd have to wait for a table, but not at all. Bar crowd was very vocal and raucous as you walk in, for a family place. Waitress was very prompt and helpful. Now the food. Pickles, drinks, sides were spot on. The ribs, flavor was as good as ever. But I would eat these out of the fridge at midnight. Visited in a Friday evening at 7pm and our first impression when we opened the door was the smell of an old building, which was not good. We were seated quickly, our server came over just as rapidly and was friendly. That's where the good ends and the bad begins. It took 30 minutes to get our food and it was not that busy. I ordered pulled pork and pulled chicken. Both meats tasted unseasoned and like something we could make at home. The sweet potato fries were cold and very heavily seasoned with too much salt. The Mac & cheese side was equally bland and way over cooked. I didn't eat the cornbread but my wife said it was just ok. My wife's food was far worse starting with the turkey meat she ordered that came out with the consistency of a rook shingle and tasted worse. It was not tender and needed to be cut with a knife to eat. After one bite, my wife ate no more turkey. She ordered brisket, which was served in chunks in a cup, which is not how we usually have it served. Her sides were just as disappointing as the baked beans taste like they were just poured out of a can, again missing any type of authenticity or unique flavor. Her coleslaw was nothing more than cabbage with absolutely no seasoning or sauce. It was just dry cabbage. We were provided with a rack of 6 different BBQ sauces and honestly, we disliked most of them! Again, the flavors did not taste good compared to other sauces we've had at other restaurants. To top things off, we were pestered by several flys during our dinner and we never had our drinks refilled once. Our meals cost over $60 and quite honestly, it was nowhere near as good as Dinosaur and we prefer and highly recommend Mission BBQ in Henrietta. There were are served fast, the restaurant is super clean, the food is outstanding and delicious and it costs far less. We won't be going back to Good Smoke given all the better options available. Summary: unless you want a sugar coma and don't really care for flavors, I would avoid. Went here last night for date night... heard lots of good things and got a recommendation to go here, saying that this is way better than sticky lips. Sticky lips has been on the decline for the last few year, so I was looking for something new to fill that void. Unfortunately this place is not it. Our server was very friendly and did all the right things... I have nothing bad to say about the service. We started with the fried pickle chips. These were quite good and I was excited. For my main I got two meats: 1/2 chicken and crispy ribs with two sides, specifically "cajun" corn, and mac & cheese. It was awful... I should've said no sauce because the sauce was so sweet I couldn't taste anything of the meat whatsoever. I tried using napkins to wipe as much of the sauce as possible but still no joy. The sides too had no spices to them whatsoever... just sweet as all h**l (hence cajun in quotes). I took most of the meal home and promptly washed off the meat in the sink to try and remove the sweet sauce thinking I could try and spice this to something edible... the sweetness was so pervasive, I was just unable to eat it. My wife did like her brisket sandwich, she smartly had it without any sauce... but she didn't like the beans. I tried them and they tasted of pineapple to us. Just a mistake coming here and a miserably disappointing dinner. Don't understand how this place got any of these Tennessee barbecue awards. My first visit to the Good Smoke BBQ & Pub was impressive. I don't live near East Rochester but when I saw they had Crispy Ribs on their menu I had to make the drive out there and try them. I've never heard of Crispy Ribs before but it definitely caught my attention and as a long time rib lover I give the Crispy Ribs a 10 out of 10. All the food was excellent, especially the Mac Salad but the crispy ribs were my favorite. I will definitely be going back there. read more
