First reviewer here! Let's get this place cracking! Staff is super friendly and helpful! Staff was super awesome and always asked us if we needed anything. Tom n Jerry was on so that's a plus for me and she even asked if I wanted a different channel but I love the nostalgia so I was cool with it. Very awesome place to come with a group of friends for some drinks and beer food. Came here after I went bowling with a friend and it was in the same plaza. They just opened so wanted to give them a try. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Everything is cooked to order so you know it's guaranteed fresh. Also, I love the seasoning on everything but a warning, if you can't eat spicy, medium still has a pretty crazy kick to it

I recently tried this newly established restaurant and was really impressed. They specialize in fusion skewers cooked over charcoal, and the flavors are amazing. This isn't your typical instant fast-cooked food. Yes, it takes a little time, but the cooking style, temperature, and charcoal preparation allow rich, unique flavors to truly come through in every bite. They're currently in a soft-opening phase, so menu items are prepared based on what's being ordered and may sell out, which actually adds to the authenticity and freshness of the experience. Everything tasted delicious

The food is tasty. I like the favor not so heavy. I will definitely come again.

The food is tasty. I like the favor not so heavy. Although not much choice of skewers, the intestine and the chicken skin are my best choice. I definitely will come again.

Absolutely loved this place! From the moment we walked in, you could feel the heart behind this family-owned restaurant. The hospitality is genuinely warm and welcoming you're treated like a regular even on your first visit. This was actually my first time ever trying Chinese skewers, and wow what an introduction. The skewers are made to order, incredibly fresh, and perfectly seasoned. Every skewer comes out sizzling, packed with bold, smoky, savory flavors that are completely addictive. The food was so good that I almost forgot to take a picture, which says everything. It's the kind of place where passion for food and community truly shines through. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend we will definitely be back again!

Everything was so good!!!! New place, nice experience, food and service all good. I will go back ASAP

The service was really good and friendly (nice cat too), and the skewers were pretty fire. Price is not bad either. Definitely coming again.

They recently opened, and this was our first time visiting. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and tasted very authentic. The beef skewers were cooked to perfection and literally melted in our mouths. It's easily one of my favorite Chinese BBQ spots so far. We went on a Sunday and it wasn't too packed, but I'd definitely recommend visiting asap before the lines start getting long!

Located in a busy neighborhood of El Monte, CA, this restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Limited parking is available behind the restaurant, and street parking is an option if you can find a space. Upon entering, I immediately noticed how clean, well-organized, and modern everything looked. The electronic menu board is clearly and prominently displayed as you walk in. The menu is quite extensive, with options including wraps, salads, bowls, breakfast items, smoothies, and meal-prepped dishes with chicken, beef, salmon, tofu, and much more. I was impressed by the variety of choices and portions. My wife ordered an Asian chicken salad and garlic edamame, while I had a house salad with chicken and shrimp, plus a strawberry-banana smoothie and (2) protein donuts. Each dish was absolutely delicious. The lettuce in our salads was crunchy and fresh, the chicken and shrimp were flavorful and well-seasoned, the garlic edamame was tasty and cooked perfectly, and my banana and strawberry smoothie--let's just say I wish I had another one right now, as I loved it! If I may make a small suggestion: please chop the lettuce into smaller pieces, as the lettuce on both our plates contained large pieces that we had to cut ourselves. Despite this minor item, it was a positive dining experience, and we definitely plan to return soon to try other items on the menu.

It's one of the default lunch spots for us when we can't decide where else to go and everyone likes their food. The one negative I can point out is the parking situation. It does fill up and sometimes difficult to find a parking spot during busy times. We just have to plan to have our lunches a little earlier and carpool from our office. And yes, the glass the teas come in are humongous.

They opened and closed the door for us which was a nice touch because it was busy inside. We ordered the pork ramen, pork buns, and pork soup dumplings. On to the food! Pork Ramen: 3/5 They give you a hefty amount of noodles and pork. They use a thin noodle here which pairs well with the broth. I truly do believe this was around average for ramen as the flavor in the broth was not as strong or savory. The highlight of the entire entree was definitely the pork, which was tender and flavorful. I probably would not order this again. Pork bun: 5/5 The pork buns were soft and fluffy, almost too good looking to eat. There was the right amount of soup and meat inside that made for a wonderful bite full of flavor. Not dry at all. Would recommend ordering this if you visit. Pork Dumplings: 5/5 The star of the show, the dumplings. They were soft and just like the buns, they had the right amount of soup + meat which made for a delicious bite every time. My toddler even ate some and she's usually super picky about meat. Overall, I'd definitely recommend coming here for the other noodles, the dumplings, and buns. You can skip on the ramen. I would 100% come back here to dine in. Quick note that parking gets full pretty quick here.

WeChat Cafe in El Monte is exactly that kind of place. Open for many years, it's a beloved spot for generations of immigrants and one of my favorite Hong Kong-style cafés in LA. Ever since I first moved here, it has been my comfort-food destination whenever I'm craving authentic Hong Kong flavors. From Hong Kong-style steaks and sizzling Western-Chinese fusion dishes to wok-fried noodles and rice, the portions are generous and the prices are incredibly reasonable. Recently, they introduced a selection of special-value rice plates, and after several visits with friends, I can honestly say the food still tastes just as good as I remembered--while the prices feel like they came from another era. Some standout dishes: Thai Basil Minced Pork Rice ($6.99) A milder version that suits Cantonese tastes perfectly. Packed with flavorful minced pork and incredibly satisfying with rice. Char Siu & Fried Egg Rice ($8.99) The char siu was surprisingly high quality despite the budget-friendly price. Crispy on the outside, tender inside, with a delicious honey-glazed flavor. A truly comforting dish. Scallion Oil Mixed Grill Platter ($14.99) WeChat Cafe is well known for its grilled pork chops, chicken chops, and steaks. The scallion oil adds a wonderful Hong Kong-style twist that makes this dish unforgettable. Slightly more expensive than the specials, but absolutely worth it. And of course, no visit is complete without their famous roasted pork knuckle. It remains just as impressive as ever--crispy, golden skin with juicy, flavorful meat inside. Honestly, it rivals some of the pork knuckles I've had in Germany. The menu is extensive and even includes traditional Hong Kong-style breakfast options. Despite being in Los Angeles, WeChat Cafe still captures the essence of a classic Hong Kong cha chaan teng: delicious food, generous portions, and amazing value. These days, $6.99 barely buys a trendy milk tea, yet here it can still get you a full meal. Restaurants like this are becoming rare. If you appreciate authentic Hong Kong comfort food and old-school hospitality, this is a place worth supporting and cherishing.

He was talking cantonese with the other waitress. Then we called him for our order. We both ordered chicken steak with pork chop. There wasn't much customers there. Only 4 to 5. We waited like 10 minutes. I try get the waiter but there weren't anyone around. The female waitress is gone and so was the guy waiter. Only lunch time they should be busy and there aren't any waiter or waitress. I think the owner or manager came out and I told her what happened to out drink and meal. She went back to the kitchen and got my drink only and went back to get my friend's drink. Talk about bad service. Then we waited another minute only 1 dish was ready. I gave it to my friend 1st cause he was hungry. I waited and then flag the female manager and asked what happened to my order. She said the cook cooked the food 1 at the time. Another 3 to 5 minutes went by and they finally got my order. I asked my friend how was his food. He said it was to oily. I think it was because of the green onion with oil. They put a lot. I saw mine it was also the same. The spoon handle on mine was full of oil. I just put the fork on the small plate and used the fork and knife. I ate some of my food and took home the pork chop. I asked for the bill from the guy waiter. He came by with a tablet. My friend took out money and I told him it was my turn. The waiter took his money cause he took out $100 and I took out $50. Of course the waiter took the $100 instead of mine. Then he said he will take $8 dollar for tip. We did not hear him. When he came back he just gave $50 back to my friend. Then my friend told me about it. I was pissed. I was going to give him $5 for the service only. For the service we had. That place wasn't busy at lunch time. The cook could have cook 2 chicken steaks at the same time and 2 pork chop at the same time and it would be faster. Not one at a time. Forget about going back. Waste of time and bad service. I don't like business take tip with the customer's knowing it.
