It didn't overpower it. The classic crunch was also really good a little salty but not bad I think next time I would just stick to the soy garlic. I also ordered the Bulgogi bowl just because I wanted to try the flavor of the Bulgogi. You can tell it's homemade fresh not too overpowered with soy flavor. I like the touch of mushrooms and scallions with it. It had a lot of flavor. Now in terms of the staff, it seems like it's a family own business. Everybody was so kind and helpful. Very respectful. Why is it that each time I come here, something goes wrong? I honored my cravings for wings and dined in since they had their promotion for 1$ wings. Partner and I did not wait very long and seated shortly. The place was packed and it was understaffed, so service was a miss. There was another party that got their order in, their food came out shortly, but they were seated after us. Partner was starting to get irritated by the delays. We had our order taken and given the lowdown of how ordering works: you're only allowed to order the promotion first. Additional orders for wings means you pay their regular price. 12 pieces was enough to feed us, but they didn't include their big fat drumsticks. Our fries came out after the wings for some reason, and that was a bit of the wait. We didn't even get plates upon seating lol. There's indoor dining but most of the orders I saw the time I was waiting were for takeout. The playlist was bumpin'- music you can dance to. The camaraderie between staff was charming and genuine. Parking is free and would probably be challenging during peak hours. In about 7 1/2 minutes my order was up-- that was pretty quick ! Came here today for lunch...get here when they open...because the tables fill up quickly. Thankfully I got there when they did open. The staff was and is very friendly...to all the customers...the staff was very accommodating and took care of everyone. They are great. They have a great menu and a lunch-special menu...I ordered from the lunch-special menu. I guess the negative...if there is one, this is one of many restaurants that offer chicken with lots of flavors to add and it's expensive. There are sooooo many chicken places offering hot and spicy chicken or Korean fusion or tex-mex...you know what I mean...so many specialty chicken places that for some reason, charge an arm and a leg for a wing and a leg. See what I did there! All that being said, Bonchon's chicken is very good. I'd eat here again. I think that's a little heavy in price. We were given an estimated wait time of 15 minutes but ended up waiting 30 minutes. We ended up taking in home and everything was still crunchy regardless of it being sauced down. The soy garlic flavor was there but only on the skin. The chicken itself was unfortunately flavorless. I ordered online which was super easy and got a combo which was 4 wings, 2 drumsticks, and a side of your choice of cold slaw, rice, or radish. I picked rice and chose soy garlic. Total was $13.99 +0.99 convenience fee and $1.47 tax...didn't realize there was a convenience fee until looking at it now but don't love that. I might've ordered from a third party but I thought it was their website. Food was better than I remember. It was pretty crunchy and tasty exterior, however I remember the interior meat was okay. I think I prefer bbq chicken the chain more, but it is down main street so a bit further for me. Service was great - it was a quick interaction since I just went to pickup but the cashier told me they were doing $1 wings the month of January 2026 (?) for dine in only on weekdays I believe. Came here for their Monday through Thursday $1 wing special, which is back. We ordered the maximum 15 wings per person, for 2 people, so we got 15 soy garlic and 15 spicy flavored wings. We sat down an hour before closing and they were very attentive. We got our order shortly after ordering and they were all tender, hot and crispy. We also added a side of white rice and pickled radish. Soy garlic and spicy are still our 2 go to flavors. Though the spicy is less spicy than some previous, it's more enjoyable for us. Tonight it was 7/10 spicy; just right. We also got a fountain diet coke which had complimentary refills. Helps with taming the heat from the spicy wings. I also normally order the mapo corn dog and fries, but not tonight as we weren't feeling as hungry. If you haven't tried the mapo corn dog, it's worth a try! All in all, great service. My brother is a regular at this spot. He invited me to try it tonight after work. He arrived at 9:27 they close at 10pm. The employee (Jay) told him he had to order right away because they closed at 10. My brother said he would be ordering for the both of us and I was about 3 minutes away. The employee told him no, he would not allow me to come in and eat. Still my brother tried to explain he was going to order for the both of us, I would have arrived before the food but the employee said no, he wasnt going to let me in. Medium 4 drums, 8 wings: The drums are about 3/4 size of the radish bowl and the wings were pretty much half the size of the radish bowl. Side radishes were so crunchy with their bite sized pieces. What makes their wings stand out from the rest is that it's lightly coated with sauce that sticks onto the outer layer of the wings. Side of cole slaw: The cole slaw was pretty light and refreshing. Really disappointed with the experience at this location especially with the host/server. We came in with a group of 8 and made it clear from the beginning that we wanted regular tables together or if not at least close enough for our whole party since there weren't exactly 2 tables next to each other at the moment. One table can accommodate 4 people each. They had sat half of us at a table and the other half at the bar top and had told us as soon as another table opens up the rest of my party could sit down there. The frustrating part was how the host/server handled the situation afterward. At first, he tried saying we couldn't switch tables once the food arrived except our food hadn't even been put in yet. We were literally still in the process of taking orders, so that explanation made no sense and felt like he was just trying to twist the situation instead of helping us. Then another regular table opened up, and when we asked if we could move there so our whole group could finally sit at regular tables, he immediately said, "Oh, that's for another party." The issue is that we had already made it clear from the start that we wanted regular tables for our entire party, yet they still prioritized another group over fixing the situation for guests already seated there. What made it worse was the lack of accountability and communication. Instead of simply admitting the seating was handled poorly and trying to make it right, it felt like excuses kept changing depending on the moment. I had BonChon many times in Thailand but this is the first time in USA and everything was different. This place has a local and cozy vibe. The server was very friendly and the food was more well-rounded than just fried chickens. The fried chicken was nice still, and worth ordering. The coating was thin and flaky. Inside was very juicy. I went when they had $1 wings promotion and I think it's still ongoing. This promotion made it really worth it. The pickled radish goes better than the coleslaw as a side to me. You could tell they took the time to hand-brush the sauce on each piece--the chicken was fully coated, super crispy, and addicting. Every bite had us going back for more. My partner and I arrived for lunch at 11:30 AM on 3/21/2026. The restaurant was not crowded- 4 tables including ourselves. At 11:37 AM, we placed our order with the male waitstaff. At the same time, the table next to us was asking question about the menu to the female waitstaff. We placed our order first. At 11:50ish AM, the table next to us got their order. We patiently waited for our food. At 12:15 PM, the male waitstaff came to our table and said there was a delay and brought us fries. During the time between when we first placed our order to when we were told there was a delay, we were ignored. Even after making constant eye contact with both the male and female waitstaff. If our waiter forgot to put our order in, that's fine but be honest about it. We saw multiple takeout deliveries being handled. The other three tables were being actively attended to. We decided to dine in and finally try this place out. Food was great; however, the options on the combos to feed groups are not that great. We were told we could only order 1 flavor so that was a bummer as we have been wanting to try this place out for such a long time now and I pumped myself up super hard before we got here. Chicken was cripsy and it was very good; however, I was super bummed because we could not get other flavors. I would like to come back to give this place another go, but I don't think I would go out of my way to come back. The food is good, but you can find tons of Asian spots that have similar chicken and you can mix and match flavors. Southern California is huge and there's so many restaurants, but I do think you should check it out for yourself so you can see if it's something you love. Staff was okay. We weren't greeted, we were just told there's a long wait time and they would text us when there's a table. The boneless classic crunch is pretty good! It reminds me of popcorn chicken. It's a bit on the salty side so definitely recommend eating with the coleslaw, rice, or dipping sauce.
